The Hagerstown Suns announced today a partnership with Waste Management for the 2015 season that will include new recycling containers throughout Municipal Stadium. This new recycling option for fans is one of a number of ways the Suns will be going green in 2015.
The new recycling containers are green with yellow lids and will be placed conveniently throughout Municipal Stadium. In addition, one inning each game will be the Waste Management Recycle Inning, when Suns staff members will walk around the seating areas to collect items that can be recycled from fans. These items include plastic drink bottles and plastic drink cups, aluminum cans, paper and newspaper, foil food wrappers, and paperboard and cardboard packaging.
Other initiatives the Suns are taking to go green in 2015 include stocking the stadium with paper towels, napkins, and toilet paper made from recycled material, as well as using biodegradable cleaners. “Our hope is that these green initiatives will encourage our fans to be similarly environmentally conscious when they leave the stadium and return home,” explains Suns GM Chris Easom.
