Bob Ross Night 4.0, Vaccine Drive, Fireworks part of ‘Tugas season-ending homestand

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas open their final homestand of the 2021 regular season on Tuesday, August 31, against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, the Single-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Among the highlights are a Bob Ross Night 4.0 extravaganza on Saturday, a Vaccination Drive on Wednesday, and the final Postgame Fireworks show of the campaign on Friday.

The Tortugas open up the set on Tuesday, August 31, with a Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Radiology Associates Imaging. Daytona players and coaches will don special pink-tinted uniforms to mark the occasion, as the organization raises money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Silver Sluggers Night — the best club in baseball for fans 60-and-over — presented by Conviva Cares Solutions will also be a part of the festivities. As a part of Silver Sluggers Night, fans can enjoy Michelob Ultra drafts for $2.50. The first pitch of that night and all weekday games are set for 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m.

The Tortugas, in conjunction with the Volusia County Health Department, will do their part in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by holding a Vaccination Drive from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1. In the same token, charity remains a focal point for the organization with a Wishful Wednesday presented by VyStar Credit Union. The Tortugas partner with a local non-profit organization — this week it will be the Beacon Center — to swell up donations and awareness for a worthy cause. Starting at just $14, patrons will be able to enjoy all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and popcorn thanks to a Belly Buster Wednesday presented by Marco’s Pizza. The biggest party in Central Florida returns for one last hurrah in 2021 at the oldest ballpark in Minor League Baseball on September 2 courtesy of a Bud Light Thirsty Thursday. All those in attendance can beat the heat with fountain drinks and draft beers starting at as low as $1.

We recognize the selflessness of those who have aided others during the pandemic as a part of our second First Responders and Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Night on Friday, September 3. It will be another Friday Night Happy Hour presented by Kona Brewing Company. Fans will be able to enjoy free tastings of a selection of Kona Brewing draft beers from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Additionally, patrons will be able to enjoy Kona Brewing Company draft beers at a reduced price at all our beer stands throughout the evening. “The Best Dressed Team in Baseball” series continues all weekend as Tortugas players and coaches will don special No. 9 uniforms in honor of the ballpark’s namesake, Jackie Robinson. The franchise will also be honoring the winners of the Barrier Breakers Creativity Contest during that evening’s game. Fans are advised to stick around until after the final out, as the Tortugas host their final Postgame Fireworks show of the campaign.

The best promotion in baseball returns to Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Saturday, September 4, with Bob Ross Night 4.0. Fans are advised to get to the ballpark early, as the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a limited edition Paint-Your-Own Bob Ross Bobblehead presented by Radiology Associates Imaging. A painting station for fans to get a head start on personalizing their bobbleheads will be set up at the Turtle’s Nest along the first-base line. Fans will also be able to enjoy special food items at the concession stands featuring a “Paint Palette Box” with funnel fries, marshmallows, M & M’s, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch drizzled with chocolate syrup. It will also be a Copa de la Diversión celebration with special uniforms for players and coaches as a part of the weekend-long “Best Dressed Team in Baseball” series.

The Tortugas close out the home schedule with a 5:35 p.m. first pitch on Sunday, September 5, and the annual Scout Night at The Jack. Boys and Girl Scouts and their families will be able to enjoy discounted tickets to that evening’s contest. It will also be another Bark in the Park Night with fans being able to purchase a “pooch pass” for $2 at the box office so their furry four-legged friend can enjoy one last nine-inning vacation on the year, as well. We celebrate our beloved mascot Shelldon’s birthday on a Tiny ‘Tugas Night in Daytona Beach with special games and activities for all members of the best kids club in Volusia County. Daytona will be dressed in their Sunday best with special tuxedo-themed uniforms as part of the “Best Dressed Team in Baseball” series.

All specialty uniforms worn Tuesday and Friday through Sunday will be auctioned off on the Tortugas website following the conclusion of the homestand.

The Tortugas get dressed up in their Sunday best to close out the homestand on Sunday, August 22. The Best Dressed Team in Baseball series squeezes into Sunday, as Daytona players and coaches will don special tuxedo-themed uniforms. It will also be a Bark in the Park and Tiny ‘Tugas Night. Mets to support military families at Clover Park on Friday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (July 8, 2021) – The St. Lucie Mets will show their support to military families and RememberEveryoneDeployed.org (R.E.D.) on Friday, July 9 when they take on the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels at 6:10 p.m.

R.E.D. is an organization that raises awareness about the hardships of those deployed and their families. They act in support of the ‘silent soldiers,’ the families of those deployed and provide direct aid to active duty military and their families. R.E.D. was founded in 2016 in Jacksonville, N.C. at Camp LeJeune, a Marine Corps Base, to show solidarity and support for deployed service members.

The Mets will support the organization with a promotional giveaway at Clover Park on Friday, July 9. The team, along with Fiserv, will give away a military-themed T-Shirt to the first 1,500 fans in attendance in support of RememberEveryoneDeployed.org.

R.E.D. representatives will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch and will conduct on-site activations on the concourse at Clover Park where fans can donate to the cause and support active duty military and their families.

R.E.D. and Fiserv will honor the Hometown Hero of the Game, SGT Eliza Ale-Finks, who serves in the United States Army and has recently returned home from deployment.

Tortugas to help raise funds for Officer Raynor’s family

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – As a part of the Daytona Tortugas continued effort to be a driving force for good in and around Volusia County, the team has announced on Wednesday that it will spend the last five games of their Independence Day homestand against the Lakeland Flying Tigers raising funds for the family of Daytona Beach police officer Jason Raynor after he was seriously wounded in the line of duty last week.

On Wednesday, June 30, and Thursday, July 1, all proceeds from the Tortugas’ nightly 50/50 raffle will go to support the injured officer’s family. Additionally, more funds will be raised over the weekend, Friday, July 2, through Sunday, July 4, the franchise will host a silent auction along the concourse behind home plate.

Fans will also be able to donate to the cause through the Daytona Tortugas’ website. When purchasing tickets online at www.daytonatortugas.com, patrons will be given an option to donate at their discretion to help support the cause.

The six-game homestand continues on Wednesday. As a part of the effort for Officer Raynor’s family, fans are encouraged the visit the 50/50 raffle booth located in the concourse area directly behind home plate. It will also be a Wishful Wednesday at The Jack, presented by VyStar Credit Union. Tortugas seek National Anthem performers

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas are launching a virtual search for National Anthem performers for the 2021 season.

In lieu of in-person auditions this year, all interested singers, vocal groups and musicians should enter a digital submission (video or audio) here. Candidates who have been chosen from the virtual auditions will be contacted to schedule a date to perform the National Anthem.

The Daytona Tortugas open the 2021 season on Tuesday, May 4 at the Palm Beach Cardinals (STL). Opening Night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark is set for Tuesday, May 11 vs. the St. Lucie Mets (NYM).

Marauders to Highlight Non-Profits, Small Businesses at Home Games

BRADENTON, Fla. — The Bradenton Marauders, Low-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, have announced plans to feature local area non-profit organizations and small businesses for Friday and Saturday games at LECOM Park in 2021. The Marauders will partner with the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, the Manasota Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Gulf Coast Latin Chamber of Commerce to promote the program.

The Marauders will feature one non-profit organization at each Friday home game (10 scheduled) and one small business at each Saturday home game (10 scheduled). Businesses and organizations that would like to participate are encouraged to submit a nomination at BradentonMarauders.com.

Each winning non-profit or small business will receive a free advertising package that includes four complimentary tickets, in-park and digital activations on the day that they are selected.

St. Lucie Mets Community Market Coming April 25th

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 14, 2021) – The St. Lucie Mets are excited to announce the launch of the St. Lucie Mets Community Market.

The mission of the St. Lucie Mets Community Market is to promote and support regional artists, crafters and food vendors by providing a viable and productive market place where local producers can create mutually beneficial interactions with area residents and visitors. Promoting healthy food and local commerce fosters a sense of a community supported economy. There are over 30 vendors ranging from food, crafts, artists and vegan/all-natural products that will be joining us.

The launch date of the first market is Sunday, April 25th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Clover Park. Moving forward the Community Market will take place two Sundays per month. Parking and entry to the market is free.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas will host a community beach cleanup and unveil a new beach cleanup initiative on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The event is being planned and produced by the Tortugas High School Ambassadors, a group of high school students from across Volusia County who explore careers in the sports and entertainment business as part of the team’s partnership with Volusia County Schools.

The public is invited to join in Wednesday’s cleanup from 10 a.m. to noon at Sun Splash Park, 611 S. Atlantic Ave. Supplies and water will be provided, but volunteers are asked to bring reusable gloves and a reusable bucket or bag if possible. Want to participate but can’t make it to the park? Go to your local beach and do your own cleanup with family and friends! Don’t forget to post about your cleanup on social media using #TugasCleanup.

The event will also include a ceremonial unveiling of a new beach cleanup station established by the Tortugas Care Foundation. TCF has partnered with Volusia County and Fill A Bag, a Key Biscayne nonprofit organization, to create and maintain the station.

Fill A Bag stations make it easy to turn walks on the beach into meaningful cleanups. Starting Wednesday, the public is invited to grab a bucket from the station and pick up trash while walking the beach. Once finished, users should empty the collected items into the nearby trash or recycling bin and return the bucket to the station for future users.

Tortugas planning special event in honor of Jackie Robinson Ballpark’s namesake

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas invite the community to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day with a special event at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Aug. 28.

Attendees will have the opportunity to watch on the Tortugas’ 36-foot-wide videoboard as the Cincinnati Reds take on the Chicago Cubs from Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati as part of Major League Baseball’s celebration of Jackie Robinson Day. In addition, fans will be invited to play catch on the field and win prizes by playing Baseball Bingo.

Tickets are $15 per person and include an official Florida State League baseball with each ticket. Tickets must be purchased in advance via the Tortugas’ website. Fans also can purchase Stand With The Jack jerseys for only $15 as an add-on option at checkout.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and the Reds-Cubs game is scheduled to start at 7:10 p.m. All Tortugas staff will wear face masks in accordance with the Tortugas’ Re-Opening Protocols, and all attendees are encouraged to do so as well.

Spectrum Field Host to Pinellas County High School Graduations

Senior Ceremonies Continued for the Class of 2020 with Safety Protocols in Place

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Spectrum Field in Clearwater was the host for 16 Pinellas County High School Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020 during the week of July 7-10. The Phillies and Threshers teamed up with the City of Clearwater, Pinellas County Schools and the Pinellas County Health Department to ensure that Pinellas County graduates were given an opportunity to walk in their cap and gown.

“We felt it was important and the right thing to do for our community. We were able to create a safe environment in which our graduates could be honored and participate in their graduation ceremonies,” said Doug Kemp, General Manager of Spectrum Field.

Four graduation ceremonies were held each day over the four-day period. To accommodate proper health guidelines, the schools and graduates were assigned specific times and locations to park and proceed into the ballpark and across the stage. Social distancing measures were in place and masks were mandatory for students, families and event staff. Although no one was allowed in the seating bowl, each graduate entered with their immediate families and walked across the stage to be recognized via the stadium’s PA and video board, serving as a photo opportunity. The ceremonies were live streamed on the Pinellas County Schools website.

“We are proud to have had such a significant role in honoring our Pinellas County graduating class,” added John Timberlake, The Phillies Director of Florida Operations. “I believe it underscores the commitment that the Phillies and the City of Clearwater maintain for our community and all of Pinellas County, even during these challenging times.”

Spectrum Field has been the site of Clearwater High School’s graduation ceremonies since 2007 and the ballpark has held as many as seven local high school graduations in previous years. The Clearwater Threshers have been playing their home games at Spectrum Field since the 2004 opening and the Philadelphia Phillies make the facility their Spring Training home.

Tortugas to Host Graduation for Richard Milburn Academy

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas will host graduation for Richard Milburn Academy of Florida’s class of 2020 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, the team and school announced today.

The graduation will be held on the field at the ballpark at 6 p.m. on June 30 with students receiving their diplomas at home plate. The students’ families will be permitted to watch from the grandstands.

All Tortugas staff will wear masks to prevent against the spread of COVID-19. Students and family members are encouraged to wear masks and asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Richard Milburn Academy decided to host graduation at the ballpark because the school wanted a venue that could provide a memorable and safe experience for its graduating class of about 160 students and their families.

“We are so excited to have our graduation at Jackie Robinson Ballpark this school year,” RMA Principal Art Sands said. “It’s our first time holding an event here, but it more than likely will not be the last. The accommodations we are receiving for our graduates and their families are the best!”

The Tortugas are excited to partner with RMA and welcome the school’s students and families to the ballpark.

“We are thrilled to partner with Richard Milburn Academy and provide a memorable experience for the graduating class of 2020 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark,” Tortugas General Manager Jim Jaworski said. “We believe The Jack is the perfect setting for community events like this.”

Tortugas Seek Nominees for Community All-Stars

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas want your help to honor all-stars who are going above and beyond to assist others in the community.

The Tortugas will select Tortugas Care Foundation Community All-Stars from the community’s nominations. Each All-Star will receive a customized virtual trading card and an invitation to an exclusive event including the opportunity to take batting practice on the field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark later this summer. Nominations can be submitted here through July 7, selections will be announced on the Tortugas’ social media channels beginning July 14, and the batting practice event is scheduled for Aug. 11.

The Tortugas were scheduled to host the Florida State League All-Star Game today in what would have been Daytona’s first time hosting the FSL’s midsummer classic since 2007. The festivities were also to include a home run derby, celebrity softball game and fan fest. When those events had to be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team was determined to create a new way to showcase and celebrate the community.

“We know there are so many people from all walks of life working tirelessly to help our community through these unprecedented times, and we cannot wait to give them the recognition they deserve and treat them to an unforgettable experience at Jackie Robinson Ballpark,” Tortugas General Manager Jim Jaworski said. “While we were incredibly disappointed not to be able to host the Florida State League All-Star Game and all that comes with it for our fans, sponsors and partners this year, we wanted to use this opportunity to honor and thank the tremendous all-stars who make our community better each and every day.”

The Tortugas have already applied to host the FSL All-Star Game in 2021.
