TinCaps Continue Military Appreciation Night in 2019

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne TinCaps once again have partnered with OmniSource LLC, Steel Dynamics Inc., and the San Diego Padres to welcome military personnel to Parkview Field for Military Appreciation Night on Monday, Aug. 19 (7:05 p.m.), when the team hosts the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays affiliate).

Complimentary tickets are currently available for military families-both active and veteran-to enjoy the game on Aug. 19, thanks to the generosity of OmniSource, Steel Dynamics, the Padres, and caring individual donors.

The Padres, Fort Wayne’s Major League Baseball affiliate, are once again underwriting the costs for 1,000 tickets for military families. The San Diego Padres are proud to partner with the TinCaps in support of military and charity initiatives in the Fort Wayne area. The Padres had the first military outreach program in professional sports and it is currently the largest in MLB.

“We’re indebted to our nation’s military members and their loved ones,” said TinCaps President Mike Nutter. “This gives us an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifices to our country. We’re also thankful to have teammates like OmniSource, Steel Dynamics, and the San Diego Padres to help us honor our military.”

“The men and women of our OmniSource and SDI family are proud and honored to be a part of this celebration for our courageous United States military heroes,” said Russ Rinn, President & COO OmniSource LLC. “We all know that because of them, we live in freedom.”

The TinCaps are also continuing their partnerships with multiple military organizations, offering military personnel in attendance the chance to visit kiosks highlighting many of the support organizations and offerings available to military in the area.

On Military Appreciation Night, the TinCaps will be wearing camouflage jerseys, which will be auctioned off on TinCapsJersey.com, with proceeds donated to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.

TinCaps Seek Nominees for Military Salutes in 2019

The Fort Wayne TinCaps, along with OmniSource LLC and Steel Dynamics Inc., will salute our military throughout the 2019 season and need your help.

All those who serve our country, or have served, deserve to be saluted. The TinCaps are looking for nominations of active or veteran military personnel to honor at games. If you have a friend or family member you’d like to see honored at Parkview Field, then let the team know.

Selected nominees will be rewarded with VIP treatment at Parkview Field. This includes tickets to the game for them and their family, and recognition on the field before that night’s fireworks show.

The TinCaps ask that you submit a short essay explaining why the community should know about your hero’s story. Submissions should be sent to TinCaps Community Engagement Manager Morgan Olson atolson@tincaps.com. You can also call Morgan at 260-407-2812.

TinCaps to Again Host Military Appreciation Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne TinCaps once again have partnered with OmniSource LLC and Steel Dynamics Inc. to welcome military personnel to Parkview Field for Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, June 10, when the team hosts the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays) at 3:05 p.m.

Complimentary tickets are currently available for military families-both active and veteran-to enjoy the game on June 10, thanks to the generosity of OmniSource and Steel Dynamics, caring individual donors, and the San Diego Padres.

As they have in the past, the Padres, Fort Wayne’s MLB affiliate, are underwriting the costs for 1,000 tickets for military families. Dragons to Recognize Honor Flight Dayton Program on April 11

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons will recognize the Honor Flight Dayton program during an inning break of their game on Wednesday, April 11 against the Lake County Captains at Fifth Third Field. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday’s event is the first of four special Hometown Heroes program spotlights at Dragons games this season. At each Hometown Heroes event, the Dragons pay tribute to all service men and women past and present. Presenting sponsors are the Dayton Development Coalition and Leidos. Additional tributes are scheduled for May 8, June 24, and July 15, each focused on a different aspect or organization involved in the military. The season-long celebration will wrap up with a Celebration Night on August 18.

Many veterans and chaperones who will be participating in the scheduled April 14 Honor Flight will be in attendance at the Dragons Hometown Heroes spotlight during the game on April 11.

Honor Flight Dayton’s mission is to ensure that Dayton area veterans have the opportunity to see their national memorials in Washington, D.C. These once in a lifetime trips are provided at no cost to qualified veterans. Created in 2005, the first Honor Flight took 12 veterans on six small planes from Springfield, Ohio to D.C. Since then, thousands of veterans have been escorted to see their memorial. The program is still going strong with up to four flights per year. In 2017, year more than 440 veterans were able to enjoy this experience. This program started with WWII veterans, but now much of their impact is on Korean and Vietnam veterans.

Complimentary tickets are currently available for military families-both active and veteran-to enjoy the game on June 27, thanks to the generosity of the OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc., and caring individual donors.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne TinCaps are proud to partner with the OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc. to welcome military personnel to Parkview Field for Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday, May 26, when the TinCaps host the Great Lakes Loons in a doubleheader starting at 6:05 p.m.

Through the generosity of the OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc., the TinCaps, and caring individual donors, complimentary tickets are currently available for military families, both active and veteran, to enjoy that night’s games.

“We are proud to partner with the OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc. to provide military families the chance to be our guest on Military Appreciation Night,” said TinCaps President, Mike Nutter. “This is the seventh consecutive year we’ve welcomed military to Parkview Field in this way and it’s even more meaningful given the recent return of the 122nd Fighter Wing from their six month deployment. TinCaps to Honor Military, Families, and Veterans at Game

Fort Wayne, IN – The Fort Wayne TinCaps are set to host Military Appreciation Night at Parkview Field on Wednesday, June 12, at 7:05 when the TinCaps take on the Lake County Captains.

Thanks to sponsorships and donations, the TinCaps are giving away free tickets for Military Appreciation Night to military members, the families of military members, and veterans. These tickets can be requested prior to Wednesday’s game through TinCapsMilitary.com.

Also as part of Military Appreciation Night, the TinCaps will wear special red, white, and blue jerseys, which will later be auctioned off for fans on July 5. Proceeds from the red, white, and blue jersey auction will go toward Honor Flight Northeast Indiana. In addition, organizations from around the Fort Wayne community that offer services for military members and their families, as well as veterans, will be present during Wednesday’s game in Parkview Field’s Lincoln Financial Event Center.

Sharon Eichman of the Fort Wayne Area Blue Star Mothers (the TinCaps’ community organization of the game) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Military Appreciation Night, while Fort Wayne City Council President Tom Didier is scheduled to sing God Bless America during the seventh-inning stretch.

Silver Hawks to Help Veteran’s Take Flight

Join your Silver Hawks Thursday, June 6 for a special showing of Honor Flight on the 69th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Honor Flight is a documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to provide them a trip to Washington, DC to see the memorial constructed for them in 2004.

The gates will open at 6:00pm and the movie will begin at 7:00pm on the scoreboard. During the event there will be military vehicles onsite and a military flyby featuring WII planes. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased online www.SilverHawks.com , look for the Honor Flight info the home page. Tickets may also be purchased through the Box Office, in person and over the phone 574-235-9988, Monday-Friday 10:00am-5:00pm. Parking will be free for the event and concessions will be open.

Proceeds from the event will aid in sending veterans from the Michiana area to the memorial in Washington, D.C. The Honor Flight Network is a nonprofit organization, with 117 hubs across the United States, which has flown over 100,000 veterans to Washington, D.C. for more information on the non-profit visit www.honorflight.org.
