SeaWolves Announce Three Hiring Events

The SeaWolves announced today that the team will host three Game Day Crew hiring events. The team is seeking outgoing, enthusiastic individuals (ages 16 & up) to fill a variety of game day positions for the 2022 baseball season.

The hiring events will take place in the UPMC Park Stadium Club located at 831 French St. on Saturday, February 26 (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.), Wednesday, March 9 (5 p.m. – 7 p.m.) and Saturday, April 30 (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.). Interested individuals will enter the Stadium Club through the ground level lobby and then take the elevator to the fourth floor. Prospective Game Day Crew Members will fill out applications and audition on the spot.

Available Crew Member positions include:

  • Food Service (Cashiers, Cooks, Servers, Runners & Vendors)
  • Stadium Operations (Post-Event Cleaning and Event Day Porters)
  • Team Store Associates
  • Funland Attendants
  • Camera Operators
  • Wolf Pack Entertainment Team

Opening Night, presented by Plyler Entry Systems, is Friday, April 8 as the SeaWolves host the Akron RubberDucks at 6: 05 p.m. Single-game tickets are now available (online only) at SeaWolves.com. SeaWolves Team with UPMC Hamot to Host Vaccine Clinic

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, have teamed with UPMC Hamot to host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic during their game against the Akron RubberDucks (Cleveland Indians) on Friday, May 14 at UPMC Park. Game time is 6:05 p.m.

Ticket holders (ages 12 & older) can receive a Pfizer vaccine between 4:30-6:30 PM in the new Celebration Cove picnic area, located inside the main gate entry plaza of UPMC Park. No appointment is necessary. Attendees must have a ticket to the game to enter.

Captain’s Club Members can enter UPMC Park Gate #2 at 4:30 PM. UPMC Park’s Main Entry Gate #1 will open at 4:45 PM. Each individual who receives their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at the May 14 game will receive a voucher for a free Smith’s hot dog, chips, and a drink, redeemable at any SeaWolves home game this month. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“We are thrilled to partner with UPMC Hamot to help get Erie County vaccinated,” SeaWolves Team President Greg Coleman said. “It’s been wonderful to welcome fans back to UPMC Park, and we’re thankful to all the healthcare heroes for making it possible.”

The SeaWolves continue their six-game series against the RubberDucks tonight at 6:05 p.m. It’s Thirsty Thursday presented by Bud Light. Fans can enjoy Smith’s hot dogs, Pepsi soft drinks, popcorn and select domestic draft beers for only $2 each. Tickets are available at SeaWolves.com.

Erie’s Teams Host Drive-Thru Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive

The Erie SeaWolves, Erie Otters, and Erie BayHawks are teaming up to host a contactless drive-thru teddy bear toss and toy collection benefitting the Salvation Army of Erie on Saturday, December 19th from 10am-2pm.

Erie sports fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal or boxed toy to the collection point at the East 9th Street cul-de-sac at UPMC Park’s new main entrance. Staff will be on hand to receive donations from vehicles. Social distancing and personal protection protocols will be in place (masks, hand sanitizer, etc.) to ensure the health and safety of fans and volunteers. Fans are encouraged to pack their donations in a plastic bag.

All donors will receive free hot chocolate courtesy of Tim Hortons and special offers from the teams, including a coupon for 15% off a future purchase at the Erie SeaWolves or Erie Otters team stores.

Fans should be aware of ongoing construction to the Warner Theater and adjusted traffic patterns with East 9th Street closed between State and French street, and one lane traffic on French Street near the Warner Theater construction project. Access to the collection point can be found by heading south on French Street starting at the intersection with East 8th Street.

SeaWolves to Hold Auditions for National Anthem, Public Address Announcers and On-Field Emcees

The SeaWolves will hold open auditions on Saturday, March 14 for National Anthem singers, public address announcers, and on-field emcees. Auditions will be held at the Center Court stage in the Millcreek Mall from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Interested parties will register and audition on the spot. Tryouts will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

NATIONAL ANTHEM SINGERS
Singers will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” a cappella (without music) and must complete their audition within a 90-second time frame. Solo performances and ensemble auditions are encouraged. There is no age requirement, but performers must be comfortable singing in a stadium environment. No CDs, tapes, emails or digital submissions will be accepted. Those auditioning are encouraged to review the SeaWolves’ game schedule and identify their availability throughout the season.

PUBLIC ADDRESS ANNOUNCER
The team is seeking one to two individuals to serve as the in-stadium public address voice(s) of UPMC Park for all 70 SeaWolves home games. PA Announcer duties include introducing starting lineups, batters and defensive changes, delivering promotional scripts and improvisational contests, and other duties as assigned. The PA Announcer works closely with the Director of Entertainment to create a fan-friendly and enjoyable experience at UPMC Park. Those auditioning will each read a variety of game day scripts and announce the SeaWolves lineup. Qualifications for this seasonal, game-day position include:

  • Strong vocal talent
  • A unique and definitive personality
  • Execute pre-game, in-game and post-game scripts and player introductions
  • Comfort speaking into a microphone in the control room to a large audience
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and an effective communicator
  • Must possess the ability to think quickly based on game situations and improvise when needed
  • Demonstrate professionalism and comfort while announcing complex names
  • Strong knowledge of baseball rules and positions

ON-FIELD EMCEE
The team is seeking one to two individuals to serve as on-field hosts at UPMC Park for all 70 SeaWolves home games. On-field emcees are responsible for fan engagement during pre-game, in-game and post-game promotions on a nightly basis. The emcee(s) will work closely with the Director of Entertainment and the Wolf Pack Entertainment team. Those auditioning will host a mock in-game contest and read sample promotional scripts. Qualifications for this seasonal, game-day position include:

  • The ability to execute pre-game, in-game and post-game promotions
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and an effective communicator
  • Comfort and poise using a hand-held microphone to speak in front of a large audience
  • Must possess the ability to think quickly based on game situations and improvise as needed
  • Must possess effective interpersonal communication skills for fan engagement
  • Must have a basic understanding of baseball and adhere to MiLB game operations requirements

SeaWolves Announce Chace Numata Scholarship

Chace Numata Scholarship Information and Application

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, announced today that the team has established the Chace Numata Scholarship in honor of the SeaWolves catcher who tragically passed away in September.

The SeaWolves Community Fund will award a minimum of four (4) $1,000 scholarships annually to Erie-area senior student-athletes participating in varsity baseball or softball. Honorees will be selected based on their accomplishments, contributions to a team, and their positive impact on the lives of others.

Fundraising efforts for the scholarship will begin immediately. Starting today, fans can purchase Chace Numata yellow jersey tees featuring his number (#10) and the hashtag #LiveLikeNumi. Numata T-shirts are available at the UPMC Park Team Store and online at SeaWolves.com. All proceeds from T-shirt sales will benefit the scholarship. Additional fundraising efforts will be announced in the near future.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted. Completed applications will be due by February 15, 2020. All candidates for the scholarship must be nominated by a teacher or coach. The teacher or coach must attach a letter of recommendation describing the candidate’s:

  1. Positive impact on the lives of others
  2. Contributions to improving a team
  3. Accomplishments on and off the field
  4. Experiences or traits that make the candidate an exceptional scholarship nominee

Eligible student applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. College-bound senior currently attending high school and playing varsity baseball or varsity softball in Erie County, PA.
  2. Must be attending a 4-year college or university in the fall of 2020; candidate is NOT required to participate in collegiate athletics.
  3. Minimum grade point average of 2.5.
  4. Demonstrate the value of being a good teammate and a kind, positive influence on others.

A selection committee, including SeaWolves players, front office staff and the Numata family will determine the scholarship winners. There will be no discrimination regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation. The selection committee will not base its decisions in any way on the employment status of an applicant or the employment status of the applicant’s parents/guardians.

ABOUT CHACE NUMATA

Chace Numata was a switch-hitting catcher with the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. He passed away during the 2019 baseball season at the age of 27. “Numi” played 10 professional seasons in the Phillies, Yankees and Tigers organizations and was a leader on and off the field. He was a talented baseball player and a world-class teammate. It didn’t matter if you were a professional athlete or a young child, Chace made you feel welcome. His smile was contagious and unrelenting, and his fun-loving personality could light up any environment.

SeaWolves To Host Inaugural Diamond Dinner

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are partnering with MECA, Inc, to raise funds to build the first barrier-free baseball field in Erie County. The project, known as a Miracle League Field, will enable individuals with physical and mental disabilities to safely play baseball on a cushioned, wheelchair-accessible playing surface.

On Thursday, August 16, the SeaWolves Community Fund will host its first ever Diamond Dinner fundraiser on the infield at UPMC Park from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with proceeds benefitting the Miracle League of Erie County. The Diamond Dinner will include live entertainment, raffle prizes, a live auction, catering from top local restaurants and cocktails from area breweries and wineries. Attendees will have the chance to meet SeaWolves players, Detroit Tigers guests and the stars of Erie’s own Miracle League.

“The nearest Miracle League Field is about 100 miles away,” SeaWolves Team President Greg Coleman said. “With the support of the community, we can enhance a neighborhood park and create a safe and welcoming environment where kids and adults can play ball, develop skills, and build friendships.”

Tickets for the Diamond Dinner are $85 each. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. In addition, the Diamond Dinner committee is seeking a wide array of raffle prizes and live auction items.

SeaWolves To Host ‘Good Deeds Day’ on July 1

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, have teamed up with Erie Federal Credit Union to host the fourth annual Good Deeds Day on Saturday, July 1 at UPMC Park.

Good Deeds Day is a drive to collect items needed by multiple non-profit organizations in the Erie region. Fans who donate an item at the game on July 1 will receive a complimentary Upper Box seat ticket to the SeaWolves’ Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, August 26 against the Akron RubberDucks (Cleveland Indians).

“We would like to thank our partners at Erie Federal Credit Union for supporting this community initiative,” SeaWolves President Greg Coleman said. “We encourage SeaWolves fans to support one or more Erie-area organizations by bringing needed items to the ballpark on July 1.”

Items can be donated at the stadium from 6:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the SeaWolves’ game against the Altoona Curve. Stadium gates open to the general public at 6 p.m. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The following is a list of participating organizations and their current list of needed items:

SeaWolves to Host Job Expo February 8

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and Erie’s Choice for Favorite Local Sports Team, will host their sixth annual Job Expo on Saturday, February 8 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Erie Insurance Arena. The team is seeking outgoing, enthusiastic individuals (ages 16 & up) to fill a variety of game day positions for the 2014 season.

The Job Expo will take place in the suites at the Erie Insurance Arena. Interested individuals should go to the east side of the arena (Holland Street) and follow the directional signage to the interview area. Prospective game day employees will fill out applications and interview for positions on the spot.

SeaWolves Announce Week of Giving

The SeaWolves are pleased to announce the team’s first annual “Week of Giving” to support area non-profit organizations during the holiday season.

Each weekday from December 9-13, a local non-profit organization will receive 20 percent of merchandise purchases made at the SeaWolves Team Store at Jerry Uht Park and online at SeaWolves.com.

Second Harvest Food Bank:

The mission of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is to distribute food to hungry people and eliminate the waste of food.

In 1982, the first year of operation, Second Harvest distributed 444,916 pounds of food to 40 agencies. During fiscal year 2012-13, Second Harvest distributed 11.4 million pounds of food to 285 member agencies and 135 distribution sites for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for low-income seniors.

Twilight Wish:

Our mission is to bring Epilepsy Awareness to the world through our events, fundraising, and confidence!

Based in Erie, Pennsylvania, The Epilepsy Project focuses its efforts in mid-size communities where people may not have easy access to information, medical facilities, or events. It’s essential to feel supported when living with a disease that is, at times, unpredictable, so our goal is to make it FUN while spreading the important message of seizure safety, frequency, and fundraising for a cure!

Autism Society of Northwest Pennsylvania:

The Autism Society – Northwestern Pennsylvania (ASA-NWPA) is a local chapter affiliated with the Autism Society of America (ASA), the nation’s leading grassroots autism organization, which exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism. ASA does this by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy. The SeaWolves, have announced a Gloves for Kids Drive to collect equipment for youth baseball and softball players in the Erie community.  The project is a joint effort between the SeaWolves and the SeaWolves Student Ambassadors.

The SeaWolves Student Ambassador Program provides area high school students with opportunities to learn about careers in sports and participate in community service projects such as the Gloves for Kids Drive.

The SeaWolves and SeaWolves Student Ambassadors are collecting new or gently used baseball and softball equipment, including gloves, balls, youth bats, and catcher’s gear, from now through April 20.  Fans are invited bring their items to the game on Saturday, April 20 or drop off equipment in advance at the SeaWolves Ticket Office.  Items collected will be donated to Erie area youth organizations including Boys and Girls Baseball in Erie, Inc.

“The SeaWolves want to encourage kids in our community to play ball ,” said SeaWolves President Greg Coleman.  “We’d like to thank the Student Ambassadors and SeaWolves fans alike for lending their support so we can give deserving kids the resources they need to get out and play.”

Thanks to support from SeaWolves sponsors, each fan that donates a glove or other youth baseball equipment will receive a complimentary ticket any SeaWolves home game from May 25-June 6, 2013.

Save Our Shriners Event a Success

The SeaWolves partnered with the “Save Our Shriners” Hospital of Erie organization on Sunday at Jerry Uht Park and helped to generate the largest single-day fundraising event for this worthy cause.

On Sunday as the ‘Wolves battled the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Erie fans showed their generosity in helping the battle to save the Erie Shriners Hospital for Children.

Over $2,300 was raised through ticket redemptions, 50/50, Chinese Auction for autographed items, autographed jersey silent auction, merchandise and donations.

“We are so happy that the SeaWolves plShriners-hospital-for-childayers, coaches and front office staff were able to help with the efforts to save the Shriners Hospital,” SeaWolves Team President/General Manager John Frey said, “The fact that we were able to generate the largest single-day event speaks volumes of our fans and the Erie community in rallying behind this cause.”

The day could also not have been pulled off without the help of the Erie SeaWolves Booster Club who helped staff the event and sell 50/50 tickets.
