Here is a link to the original story on the team's website.
Portland, Maine —The Portland Sea Dogs are thrilled to announce today that Arcadia, a technology company that gives customers easy access to clean energy options for their homes, businesses, and communities, has joined as a 2021 Season Sponsor. As part of their sponsorship, they will be supporting a giveback program titled “Dog of the Day” to facilitate the adoptions of Maine’s rescue, shelter, and humane society dogs. New members who sign up for Arcadia with the code SEADOGS50 will also receive $50 toward their power bills.
The “Dog of the Day” program will take place at every Sunday home game this season, where Arcadia and the Sea Dogs will partner to showcase a dog that is up for adoption through a local shelter or humane society. The program will kick off this Sunday when the Sea Dogs host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 1:00 PM.
“The Sea Dogs are proud to partner with Arcadia to once again support the great work of animal shelters throughout the state of Maine,” said Sea Dogs President & General Manager Geoff Iacuessa. “The program has a track record for finding forever homes for our four-legged friends. We look forward to another successful season thanks to our new partners at Arcadia.”
“As a life-saving organization, the ARLGP greatly appreciates Arcadia’s commitment to helping people – and pets – across our great state,” said Jeana Roth, Director of Community Engagement at the ARLGP.
Arcadia helps Maine residents hit a home run every day by connecting them to local solar farms so that they can help create clean energy for their communities and save money on their power bills. Community solar programs, developed by states like Maine to encourage more renewable energy, provide residents, especially those who don’t own their homes, many of the same benefits as installing solar panels on their roof — without any installation, change in utility company, or extra cost to sign up. Arcadia’s mission around energy inclusion and giving back to local communities.
Come meet Arcadia and learn about community solar and their other smart energy services at this Sunday’s game at Hadlock Field, where we profile our first “Dog of the Day”. Arcadia is also offering new members a $50 credit on their power bills**. They’ll be located** to the right of the main gate inside the concourse at Hadlock Field. Club teams up with Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center; 50 J&J vaccines will be available at every game this week at Polar Park.
“We are proud to be among the first Triple-A teams in the country to offer vaccines for fans during our ballgames,” said WooSox President, Dr. Charles A. Steinberg. “We look forward to continuing to do our part to inspire more people to become vaccinated in the City of Worcester and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
Fans who receive a Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Polar Park will be given a complimentary General Admission ticket to that day’s game, along with a WooSox cap, and must be at least 18 years of age. Staff from the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center will administer the vaccines on the first base concourse at Polar Park on a first-come, first-served basis.

Augustus, Jr. said. “This partnership between the Worcester Red Sox and the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center is another terrific example of the collaborative efforts that have helped to ensure that every single resident has the opportunity to get vaccinated. This is the team spirit that Worcester is all about.”
On Tuesday, May 4 the Seattle Mariners became the first Major League team in the country to offer vaccines for their fans during games at T-Mobile Park, and successfully administered 160 shots during their game against the Baltimore Orioles. The WooSox would join the Columbus Clippers among Triple-A clubs administering vaccines to their fans during games.
UMass Memorial Health, the official healthcare provider of the Worcester Red Sox, will have EMTs on site as they do for every WooSox home game to offer any support needed.
Anyone who wishes to be vaccinated at Polar Park will be escorted to the first base concourse by a WooSox Ambassador upon receiving their complimentary General Admission ticket at the Ticket Office. Fans who already have tickets to this week’s slate of games and would like a vaccine can simply check in with the Kennedy Health Center staff members after the gates open. Those who do will receive a General Admission ticket to a future 2021 home game.
“We are pleased to be able to expand our reach beyond our health center doors to help ensure that anyone who wants the COVID-19 vaccine can get it safely, easily and for free,” said
Kennedy Community Health President and CEO Stephen J. Kerrigan. “Working in partnership with area organizations like Polar Park and the WooSox will boost our efforts to make the vaccine readily available.”
Vaccines will be available at Polar Park through Sunday, June 6 for the club’s entire six-game homestand against the Rochester Red Wings, and will explore the possibility of making more vaccines available at more games this summer.

Portland Sea Dogs and KeyBank team up for KeyBank Assists Program
Here is a link to the original story on the team's website.
“The Sea Dogs are proud to partner with KeyBank to assist Cooking for Community and their mission to feed those in need and support local restaurants,” Said Geoff Iacuessa, the president and general manager of the Portland Sea Dogs. “KeyBank shares our commitment to the community, together we can hit out of the park to help to make a lasting impact.”
Cooking for Community is an all-volunteer organization addressing hunger in Maine by hiring local restaurants and food producers economically impacted by the pandemic to prepare healthy meals for people who are food insecure. The nonprofit’s social service affiliates then distribute these comforting, easy-to-reheat meals to underserved populations. Ninety-eight percent of all funding raised by Cooking for Community goes directly to restaurant and food-producing partners. Since its inception in early April 2020, over 100,000 meals have been purchased to feed the hungry and support local restaurants and growers who are central to our community and the economic viability of Maine’s vibrant food culture.
“We are honored and grateful to be selected by the Portland Sea Dogs and Keybank as the recipient of their #Keybank Assists fundraising efforts. The support raised by this collaboration will fuel our work supporting local restaurants and feeding our most needy neighbors, dishing out nourishment and dignity to many.” Ellie Linen Low, Organizer, Cooking for Community.
KeyBank’s involvement in the Sea Dog’s in-game promotion is part of the bank’s #KeyBank Assists program, launched a year ago to support local businesses and communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, #KeyBank Assists has donated more than $550,000 to communities across the bank’s 15-state footprint and supported 38 charities and 105 small businesses. KeyBank’s donation through the Sea Dog promotion will go directly to Cooking for Community to support small businesses in Maine’s food producing industries, as well as help to fight hunger across the state.
“COVID-19 and its impact has touched so many in our community, particularly those already in vulnerable situations, including restaurants and other small businesses that are so important to our local economy,” said KeyBank Maine Market President. Chip Kelley. “We are proud to partner with the Portland Sea Dogs and Cooking for Community to help fight hunger and support a number of local small businesses in this innovative way.”
KeyBank currently has 42 branches in Maine. The bank has been a sponsor of the Portland Sea Dogs since the inaugural season in 1994.

About Cooking for Community:
Cooking for Community, a Portland, Maine-based non-profit organization, formed in April 2020 in response to the local economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. Restaurants and food suppliers were in trouble, people were hungry and social service agencies were stretched thin. We asked a daring question: What if we created a model that could address these issues – _simultaneously_? Thus, Cooking for Community came together to raise money to support restaurants to prepare nourishing meals; to encourage them to use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible; to coordinate with our agency partners to get the food where it was most needed. Our success is humbling. Over the past year, Cooking for Community has provided over 100,000 meals. We are an all-volunteer organization, with countless hours logged by a dedicated team of professionals who put this work into motion. As a result, we keep our overhead to near-nothing with 98 percent of monies raised going directly to programming. Combining these leadership efforts with support from hundreds of donors, advisors, organizers, kitchen workers, chefs, harvesters, and creative and nonprofit professionals enables us to achieve goals no single entity can deliver alone. Major National Recognition & A Significant Promotion
The Drive’s wins continued with a major national accolade.
- Freitas Award (Nation’s Top Single A Franchise): Based on the achievements outlined above, Baseball America honored the Drive with the Bob Freitas Award, honoring the nation’s top Single-A franchise. The Drive earned accolades for its relevant & powerful community programming as well as its ongoing operational excellence.
- Boston Red Sox Advanced-A Status: Despite the most challenging season in MiLB’s 100+ year history, and during a period of significant contraction of MiLB clubs across the country, the Drive maintained & extended its 17+ year affiliation history with the Boston Red Sox and beginning in 2021 will play as the Red Sox Advanced-A level affiliate.
Business Success and Continued Strong Partnerships
The Drive also enjoyed great success in delivering value to its long-term partners and expanding its sponsor base throughout the past year despite the Drive’s cancelled 2020 season. While the season cancellation made it difficult for many sports organizations to continue to offer visibility and brand recognition for its sponsors, the Drive’s strong partner relationships and innovation in modifying signature events and creating new programming to accommodate COVID restrictions allowed them to not only maintain their current partnership base but also to add several new, high-profile community partners to its portfolio.
“2020 has been an extraordinary year for our entire community, and the Drive is no different,” noted Greenville Drive Owner & Team President Craig Brown. “Like the Greenville community, the Drive worked to take these changes in stride, adapting and adjusting to challenges and taking them head-on, and, as these awards demonstrate, ultimately overcoming. These honors not only demonstrate our relentless commitment to giving back to our community but more importantly, our community’s continued support of and belief in our organization. In many ways, 2020 actually became our best and most impactful year ever – a true testament to the unique & special nature of the Upstate community, and how lucky we are to call this place home. We are deeply thankful for our fans, grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to give back and humbled by the meaning of these honors, especially in such difficult times. We are entering 2021 strong with the knowledge that we truly are better together.”
