LAKEWOOD, NJ – The annual BlueClaws Charities Nine & Dine Golf Outing returns to Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood on Monday, August 14th.

The event, which features a meet-and-greet with BlueClaws players, raises money for BlueClaws Charities, the BlueClaws official non-profit foundation, and their Community Partner organizations.

The Nine & Dine Golf Outing includes nine holes of golf (scramble format), range balls, locker room usage, a post-round reception, a player meet and greet on the course, and a raffle ticket for the post-round silent auction.

“This ‘Nine and Dine’ format lets golfters take a half day from work, come over to the course, and play a relaxed round while raising money for BlueClaws Charities,” said Jim DeAngelis, Executive Director of BlueClaws Charities.”It’s a great cause and we look forward to another great event.”

The range opens at 2 pm, when registration begins. Golf will begin, via a shotgun start, at 3 pm and the post-golf reception, which includes a silent auction, will begin at 6 pm.

Registration is $125 for an individual golfer or $500 for a foursome. Access only to the post-golf reception is $50. There are also sponsorship opportunities available.

Baseballtown Charities Breaks Ground on Savage 61 Dream Field

(Reading, Pa) – On Wednesday, June 14th at 4:30 p.m., Baseballtown Charities and their distinguished guests broke ground on the Savage 61 Dream Field at the Relevant Sports Complex. The Savage 61 Dream Field is the first baseball field in Berks County that is designed specifically for children with physical and developmental challenges.

Distinguished guests such as Tim Profit of Savage 61 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Chris Kaag of IM Able Foundation, Pennsylvania State Senator Judy Schwank along with President of Baseballtown Charities Chuck Domino and Vice President of Baseballtown Charities Scott Hunsicker all spoke on behalf of the Savage 61 Dream Field.

Future Dream League players Jonny Ortiz, Tyler Hartman, Mya Haddock, Scott Palmer, Kyle Wolf joined President of Baseballtown Charities Chuck Domino, Vice President of Baseballtown Charities Scott Hunsicker, Jim Leupold of the Baseballtown Dream League, Tim Profit of Savage 61 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Chris Kaag of IM Able Foundation and Screwball of the Reading Fightin Phils in the groundbreaking by shoveling dirt to officially get the field construction underway.

The Savage 61 Dream Field was announced in October of 2016 at the Diamonds and Dreams Dinner event hosted by the Reading Fightin Phils at First Energy Stadium.

IM ABLE Foundation and Baseball Charities announced a partnership in January of 2017 to build an adaptive playground at the new Savage 61 Dream Field. The playground will create a motivating and encouraging environment that will allow all children including those with physical or cognitive challenges to play together. Children who use a wheelchair, cane or crutches will be able to move freely throughout the playground. The surface of the playground will be rubber tile.

Baseballtown Charities will continue to raise funds to support the Baseballtown Dream League complex. Baseball town is also recruiting community members to serve as volunteer “angels” to assist Dream League players at every game.

Pitch for Pink is Friday, July 14

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Join the Clearwater Threshers for the 12th annual Pitch for Pink event on Friday, July 14, at Spectrum Field. The breast cancer awareness event and fundraiser has generated more than $254,000 for the Morton Plant Mease Foundation. Stay after the game for a spectacular fireworks show, presented by Clearwater Gas.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6:15 p.m. game with the Bradenton Marauders. The first 1,000 fans to arrive will receive a commemorative stainless steel travel mug from Banquet Masters. Pregame honoring of those who have battled breast cancer includes a Survivor’s Walk around the field, always a touching moment to recognize those affected by the terrible disease.

“Not only is Pitch for Pink a financial help to the programs designed for those affected by breast cancer, but it gives those people a night where the community rallies around them and shows their support,” said Threshers Promotions and Community Relations Manager, Amanda Koch.

Amanda has had her life touched by breast cancer, as the disease runs in her family. She is dedicated to the cause has helped the Threshers build Pitch for Pink into a powerful tool to help others touched by breast cancer.

A major part of the evening’s fundraising efforts is the silent auction, featuring Phillies and Threshers memorabilia plus gift packages donated by local businesses. Also included in the auction are the special pink jerseys being worn by the Threshers players on-field during the game. Winners of the jerseys may head down to the field after the game to receive their autographed jersey personally from the player.

The night is capped by an amazing post-game fireworks show, presented by Clearwater Gas.

BlueClaws to Host Nut Free Day on June 16th

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The BlueClaws will host a “Nut Free Day” at FirstEnergy Park on Friday, June 16th at the team’s 7:05 pm game against Hickory (Rangers).

The entire ballpark will be peanut-free and no peanut products will be used in food preparation or available for sale (peanuts, Cracker Jacks, etc), giving those with peanut-allergies the chance to experience BlueClaws baseball!

The June 16th game is BlueClaws Let’s Make a Deal Night with themed fun throughout the game. Additionally, after the game, enjoy some of the best post-game fireworks at the Jersey Shore thanks to Wawa.

Troop Supply Drive at June 15th BlueClaws Game

BlueClaws Military Appreciation Night is coming up on Thursday, June 15th.

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The BlueClaws will be hosting their annual Military Appreciation Night and Troop Supply Drive, presented by OceanFirst Bank, at the game on Thursday, June 15th.

There will be both pre-game and in-game ceremonies honoring members of the armed forces. A Black Hawk Helicopter will be stationed on the Great Lawn in front of the ballpark for pictures with fans.

Additionally, the BlueClaws will once again be collecting items for their Troop Supply Drive. Boxes will be set up for the Troop Supply and Care Package Drive in the front of the ballpark and fans are encouraged to donate razors, snacks, baby wipes, shampoo, soap, non-chocolate candies and sweets, sun block with SPF 40+, lip balm, writing utensils, silly string, deodorant, tissues, q-tips, white socks, batteries, insect repellent, and flashlights.

The BlueClaws will also be collecting, as always, gently used cell phones at the New Jersey Natural Gas Information Booth to benefit Cell Phones for Soldiers.

This supply and care package drive is in conjunction with the Monmouth-Ocean Central Labor Council Military Committee, Monmouth-Ocean Building Trade Council, National Guard, Toms River Armory, A.R.M.S, and IBEW Local 400 Military Committee.

In addition, former Mets manager Bobby Valentine will be signing autographs at the game from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm, taking a short break to throw out a ceremonial first pitch on the field. Veterans and Military Appreciation Night on June 3

The Clearwater Threshers will present Veterans and Military Appreciation Night with superstar wrestler Sgt. Slaughter and post-game fireworks on Saturday, June 3, at Spectrum Field. The evening is presented by Bosley and Bratch, Lawyers for Veterans. The night will also feature a hero card set giveaway, on-field ceremonies, military vehicles and equipment on display, a silent auction, and vendors on the concourse.

Professional wrestling star Sgt. Slaughter will be participating in the pregame program, and available for autographs on the concourse. Sgt. Slaughter rose to stardom in the WWE in the 1980s and 90s with his enthusiastic brand of American patriotism and his “Cobra Clutch” finishing move. Sgt. Slaughter is currently a member of the WWE Ambassador program.

The Threshers solicited nominations of local military personnel, both active and veteran, to be featured in a baseball card set of heroes that will be given away to guests as they enter the ballpark. A total of 1,000 card sets will be distributed, courtesy of Bosley and Bratch. Heroes selected for the card set, or their representatives, will be honored on the field prior to the game.

The evening will also include parachute jumpers, a swearing-in ceremony for recruits, and a silent auction fundraiser. Threshers players and coaches will be wearing special camouflage jerseys that will be included in the silent auction; winners will meet the players on-field after the game to receive their autographed jersey.

Veterans and Military Appreciation Night is in its seventh year at Spectrum Field. Representatives from the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will be on-hand for the event. Many veterans groups and support organizations will also participate.

Returning for a second year is a softball tournament in the afternoon of Veterans and Military Appreciation Night. Four teams from the USCG Air Station Clearwater, USCG Sector St. Petersburg, VETSports Tampa, and a team of veterans from several branches will play three games starting at 1 p.m. Tickets are available for the afternoon softball games and include admission for the Threshers game and food from the Hot Corner Café.

The gates for the public will open at 5 p.m. on June 3 for the 6:15 p.m. game against the Charlotte Stone Crabs, followed by a post-game fireworks display. A portion of the proceeds from the day will benefit two local charities, the Haley House Fund and the Injured Warriors Fund. Fightins announce Color the Stadium 5K “Running w/Scissors” Fun Run or Walk

(Reading, Pa) – The Reading Fightin Phils have announced there will be a Color the Stadium 5K “Running with Scissors” Fun Run or Walk presented by Penn State Health St. Joseph, Corps Fitness, IM ABLE Foundation and A Running Start on Saturday, June 10th.

The event will feature a pre-race party with a DJ to get everyone in the moving and grooving mood! The race will then kick off with a Color Blast with Reading Fightin Phils players & mascots. The race course will consist of inside and outside of FirstEnergy Stadium. Each lap around the stadium will be about a half mile. The start of the race will take place at 3pm, prior to the Reading Fightin Phils game.

Why are we running with scissors? Because no other color run does this! For this race and this race only – it’s FUN to run with scissors! People have always told us to not run with scissors. But for this fun race, we are throwing caution to the wind, and running with scissors, to raise money and draw attention to the Baseballtown Dream League – a new league and a new Savage 61 Dream Field that will allow children with physical and developmental challenges to play real baseball, on a real field, on a real team!

Don’t want to run the full 5K? THAT’S OK! Just run for fun and stop when you are done! You don’t have to run the full 5K, THAT’S OK!

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Learn the game from BlueClaws players themselves as part of the BlueClaws Youth Baseball Camp at FirstEnergy Park, presented by Stop & Shop. The BlueClaws will hold three sessions this summer, a two-day session, a three-day session, and a four-day session.

Camp each day runs from 9 am – 12 pm and includes lunch from 12 pm – 12:30 pm, an autograph session with BlueClaws players on the last day of camp, BlueClaws merchandise, and one ticket to a BlueClaws game.

The camp will cover all aspects of the game, with emphasis on hitting, base running, fielding, throwing, pitching, and position work. The objective of the camp is to instill the fundamentals of baseball, promote good sportsmanship, and create an enjoyable learning atmosphere for all.

Charitable Tuesdays Returns in 2017

One organization will be featured at every Tuesday home game and receive;

7th Annual Cutters 5K Race to Benefit CDC

The Williamsport Crosscutters, in partnership with the Children’s Development Center, will be holding the 7th Annual Cutters 5K on Saturday, June 24th at the newly renovated BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.

The race, through Williamsport’s West End, begins at 9am with registration open at 8am. The course has runners starting outside the ballpark entrance with the final sprint inside the stadium finishing at home plate. Both runners and walkers are encouraged to take part in the event.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Children’s Development Center of Williamsport. Since 1923, the CDC has been providing services to children with special needs from birth to 21 years of age. Last year’s event attracted almost 200 participants.

Hope Enterprises Children’s Development Center is honored to be the beneficiaries of the Cutters 5K race since its inception. The 5K not only promotes awareness of the services we provide but has raised over $68,000 in the 6 years of the event. Hope is grateful for the continued partnership with the Williamsport Crosscutters and their dedication to enhancing the lives of children and their families that we serve” stated Hope Enterprises President, Rob Labatch.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in seven male and female age categories for runners. In addition to the prize awards, the top male and female runners will throw out ceremonial first pitches at the Williamsport Crosscutters game on June 30th. Prizes will also be awarded to the top three male and female walkers. The event will also feature the always entertaining Kids Fun Run, free for children age 10 and under. All children participating will receive an award.

ALS Celebrity Waiter Event on May 24th

The BlueClaws ALS Celebrity Waiter Event moves to Quaker Steak & Lube in Brick and returns on May 24th.

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The BlueClaws are pleased to hold their 17th annual ALS Celebrity Waiter Event on Wednesday, May 24th from 6 pm – 8 pm at Quaker Steak & Lube in Brick. All proceeds from the event will benefit the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, the principal charity of the Phillies.

The ALS Celebrity Waiter Event features all BlueClaws players serving as the waiters and BlueClaws coaches serving as the bartenders. The players will pose for pictures and sign autographs throughout the night while helping to raise money for a great cause.

20% of all bills and 100% of all tips will be donated directly to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia. This event has raised over $150,000 for the ALS Association in its first 16 years of existence.

“We are very excited to bring the ALS Celebrity Waiter Event to Quaker Steak & Lube for the first time,” said Jim DeAngelis, Executive Director of BlueClaws Charities and the BlueClaws Director of Community Relations. “This has been our top community event over the last 16 years and we feel it will be even better this year! Fightin Phils Honored as People’s Choice Leader

(Reading, Pa) – The Reading Fightin Phils, double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, have been presented the People’s Choice Leader Award in Family Entertainment and Local Sports Team by Berks County Living and Lamar Advertising. The awards were presented at the 12th Annual Berks County People’s Choice Who’s Who in Business Luncheon on Friday, April 28th at the Reading Country Club.

Berks County Living works alongside independent marketing firm Polk-Lepson of York to find which local businesses are tops among county residents each year through months of research and e-mail surveys with consumers about whom they saw as the leading companies in various business categories.

For nearly a half century, the Fightin Phils have been recognized, both nationally and locally, for their tradition of affordable family entertainment.

In 2016, Minor League Baseball released a study that found that average cost for a family of four to enjoy a Minor League Baseball game was $64.97. The average cost was calculated by using the prices of two adult tickets, four hot dogs, two sodas, two beers, a program and parking.

A comparable package in Reading costs $53.00, nearly $11 less than the national average. All of Reading’s prices fall under the national average, including parking and programs, which are both free of charge all year long.

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The BlueClaws and Central Jersey Blood Center are teaming up for a blood drive on Saturday, May 13th from 7 am – 2 pm at FirstEnergy Park.The drive will take place in the BlueClaws Executive Conference Center and each donor will receive a pair of tickets for a 2017 BlueClaws game.

The BlueClaws encourage all fans to donate as the supply of blood needs to be replenished at this time.

While walk-ins are accepted, donors are encouraged to pre-register. To sign up, call 888-71-BLOOD or click here to register online.

Don’t Forget: Please eat before donating. All equipment used during the procedure is sterile and disposable. Donors must be healthy, be at least 16 years of age and weigh at least 120 pounds. Donors must present signature ID.

BlueClaws Collecting Art Supplies at Sunday’s Game

The BlueClaws will be collecting new art supplies at Sunday’s game.

The Camden Schools Foundation will be at FirstEnergy Park on Sunday collecting new art supplies to benefit students in the district. Anyone that donates will receive two general admission tickets for a BlueClaws game between May 22nd and 28th.

There will be a table on the concourse behind home plate where fans can drop of their supplies.

BlueClaws Partner With Sunrun to Educate Fans on Home Solar Power

LAKEWOOD BLUECLAWS PARTNER WITH SUNRUN TO EDUCATE FANS ON HOME SOLAR POWER

LAKEWOOD, New Jersey – April 12, 2017 – The Lakewood BlueClaws today announced it will be one of 16 teams featured in a multi-year partnership between Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) and Sunrun (Nasdaq: RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar company in the United States. The partnership, now in its second year, was inked in 2016. As the “Preferred Residential Solar Power Provider of Minor League Baseball,” Sunrun will help educate baseball fans across the country on the financial and environmental benefits of Sunrun solar.

The Storm join a list of clubs in all classifications of MiLB to support Sunrun’s campaign to educate fans on the financial and environmental benefits of Sunrun solar. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the Sunrun brand, showcasing that it can provide homeowners access to technology that enables energy generation, storage and management.

As part of the campaign, BlueClaws centerfielder Mickey Moniak has been selected to Sunrun’s ‘The Future is Bright’ lineup. The list, compiled by participating clubs, highlights one top prospect in each of the 16 communities that Sunrun serves in partnership with MiLB. Moniak, 18, has recorded hits in all five games for the BlueClaws this spring in his first full season of professional baseball. He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the first overall pick in the 2016 First-year Player Draft.

“Mickey Moniak is a top prospect in the Padres organization and certainly deserves to be included in Sunrun’s ‘The Future is Bright’ lineup,” said Lakewood BlueClaws General Manager Chris Tafrow. “We’re proud to partner with Sunrun again this season to educate our fans on the benefits of using solar to power their homes.”

This season, the BlueClaws will also host “Sunrun Sundays,” giving young fans the opportunity to escort players to their on-field positions as part of Sunrun’s Jr. All-Stars program.
