The report is an overview of the organizations outreach and community involvement as well as a summary of games and events at historic Municipal Stadium. From a record number of mascot and player appearances, donations and fundraising endeavors to the celebration of the #DiamondSeason, the San Jose Giants connected with and served the South Bay in more ways than ever before.

The 2017 Community Report demonstrates the variety of charitable efforts the San Jose Giants are involved with both inside and outside the stadium gates. San Jose Giants Lending Support for Fire Victims

SAN JOSE, CA– The San Jose Giants have announced their plan to support victims affected by the catastrophic fires in Northern California. Wildfires began on Sunday, October 8 and, as of Friday morning, have tragically resulted in 31 confirmed deaths, hundreds of missing person reports, over 3,500 destroyed structures, 20,000 evacuations and more than 220,000 scorched acres. The devastation is being forged by nearly two dozen sizeable fires, stretching resources thin. The firestorm is currently one of the deadliest and most damaging in California state history.

“We are deeply saddened by the many tragedies caused by the devastating wildfires and understand that this national disaster is far from over” said Daniel Orum, San Jose Giants President and CEO. “Our organization vows to provide and support relief efforts for the North Bay community during these incredibly difficult times.”

The San Jose Giants have designated Municipal Stadium as a drop-zone for supplies and will be taking a delivery truck north for those impacted by the fires on October 19. Specific items in need include: air mattresses, cots, pillows, blankets, phone chargers, dry and canned pet food, animal crates, food bowls, can openers, diapers, baby strollers, personal protection equipment (masks, latex gloves, etc.), duct tape, camp stoves, propane, water, non-perishable food items, baby food, personal hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, baby wipes, soap, etc.), toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, Band-Aids, antibacterial, duffle bags, children’s books, coloring books and coloring supplies. The San Jose Giants will contribute water, clothing, hats and blankets amongst other needed items. The organization’s front office staff is currently collaborating with local organizations in determining a drop-off location.

The San Francisco Giants also teamed up with other Bay Area sports teams to support the fire relief efforts. The teams have established a You Caring site which donors can visit by Clicking Here. San Jose Giants Team up with AUVI-Q® (Epinephrine Injection, USP) to Host a Peanut-Free Game This Season

SAN JOSE, CA– It’s hard to imagine a baseball game without peanuts, but in a new collaboration between Minor League Baseball® (MiLB™) and AUVI-Q® (epinephrine injection, USP), fans that suffer from peanut allergies can enjoy America’s national pastime with less concern.

On Tuesday, August 15, the San Jose Giants will be hosting a peanut-free game, sponsored by AUVI-Q. The game will feature no in-park sales of peanuts or products containing peanut ingredients. Throughout the game, in-park messaging and informational displays will be available for fans to learn more about AUVI-Q.

“With the help of AUVI-Q supporting our commitment to fans, we can create an environment where fans with peanut allergies can come to the ballpark and enjoy a game to its fullest,” said Mark Wilson, General Manager of the San Jose Giants. “We hope to see many new faces experiencing their first Minor League Baseball game because of our peanut-free night.”

Earlier this month, Minor League Baseball and AUVI-Q announced a multi-year agreement, making AUVI-Q the “Official Epinephrine Auto-Injector (EAI) of Minor League Baseball,” where a number of MiLB teams across the country will host “Peanut-Free Game Days” this season and next season. San Jose Giants Unveil San Jose Police Department Hat

San Jose, CA– On Friday, July 21, the San Jose Giants will welcome to Municipal Stadium local police officers, fire fighters, EMT’s, and paramedics along with all the brave men and women who serve and protect our community for First Responder’s Night, presented by Alliance Credit Union. During the game, our team will don fire-department-inspired jerseys which fans can bid on with proceeds benefiting the San Jose Fire Department Los Bomberos. Additionally, all first responders who show their badge or ID at the Box Office will receive complimentary admission for themselves and their families.

The San Jose Giants are also proud to announce that they have collaborated with the San Jose Police Department in releasing an all-new, SJPD-themed, On-field New Era 59FIFTY cap for First Responder’s Night. The navy colored hat features the San Jose Police emblem and yellow ‘PD’ lettering with the team’s ‘SJ’ logo in white. Beginning July 21, fans can purchase the SJPD New Era fitted hat in the San Jose Giants Dugout Store. All first responders will receive a special 10% discount. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each hat will go to benefit the Police Amateur Athletics Foundation (PAAF).

2017 San Jose Giants Announce 2017 Summer Camp Sessions

San Jose, CA– The San Jose Giants have announced two sessions for their Eleventh Annual Summer Camps at Municipal Stadium. The organization will offer one camp in June and one in July, providing families with the flexibility they need to get their kids involved. Session 1 will take place June 12-15 and Session 2 will span from July 17-20. Both camp sessions run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and finish with a 7:00 PM San Jose Giants home game on the last day of each camp. Summer Camps emphasize fun and focus on developing baseball skills for boys and girls ages 7 through 14.

The San Jose Giants are committed to providing each camper with a truly exceptional experience. During each Session campers will work on hitting, catching, fielding, base running and throwing mechanics while receiving personal interaction and focused attention as they hone their skills on the very same field that our Giants do.

San Jose Giants Helping Local Flood Victims

San Jose, CA– The San Jose Giants in conjunction with the city of San Jose and Silicon Valley Community Foundation are offering a way for the community to aid in providing relief for victims impacted by the recent flooding in San Jose. Thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate their homes because of unprecedented rainfall this month and subsequent severe flooding. Over 400 people have been rescued via boat as water levels reached several feet deep. Complete assessment of damage has yet to be determined, however it is certain that many families will need aid and relief in the weeks and months ahead.

The San Jose Giants are calling for community support and generous contributions for the recent flood victims. Donations can be made to the through Silicon Valley Community Foundation: San Jose Flood Relief Fund. These donations will go towards administering relief for families most in need. Families in the Franklin McKinley School District have been hit especially hard. Gift cards for clothing and food to the Franklin McKinley School District can be sent or delivered to 645 Wool Creek Drive, San Jose CA, 95112, c/o Student Wellness and Support Services Office. A GoFundMe page has also been set up to assist these hurting families.

The City of San Jose, led by District Seven Councilmember Tam Ngyuen, have set up a command post at the corner of Senter Road and Phelan Avenue, in the parking lot of Marisco’s restaurant. Volunteers are encouraged to check in at the location tomorrow, February 23, to help with the initial cleanup of the area. Clean up begins at 9:00 AM.

Additionally, our partner, Happy Hollow Park and Zoo, is requesting support for the animals and keepers who were impacted by the flood. Happy Hollow anticipates a number of expenses resulting from the flood. Donations can be made through the Happy Hollow Park and Zoo website.

2017 Operation Care and Comfort: Salute to the Military Trading Card Set

San Jose, CA– The San Jose Giants have announced and opened nominations for their fourth Military Trading Card Set, presented by Operation: Care and Comfort. The trading card set will again be made up entirely from fan nominations of current or former members of the military. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, March 3. All submissions must be accompanied by a photo of the nominee, in military uniform, sent to info@sjgiants.com. The sets will be given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance at the San Jose Giants Sixth Annual Salute to the Military Night on Saturday, April 15.

San Jose Giants 2015 Summer Camp Sessions

Three camp sessions scheduled at Municipal Stadium

San-Jose-GiantsThe San Jose Giants announced today three sessions for their ninth annual Summer Camps at Municipal Stadium. The organization will offer one camp in June, July and August, giving families a variety of dates throughout the summer to get their kids involved. Session 1 will take place June 15 – June 18, Session 2 July 27 – July 30 and Session 3 August 3 – August 6. All camp sessions will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day and focus on developing baseball skills for boys and girls ages 7 through 14.

The San Jose Giants understand the value of individual instruction and are committed to having numerous coaches on-hand. Camp participants will receive the most personal interaction and focused attention possible as all camps will maintain a 10:1 camper to coach ratio. The coaching staff will be led by John Rally, the San Jose Giants Corporate Partnerships and Youth Development Program Manager.

“With another baseball season nearly upon us, I am eager to get out on the field this summer to help develop young athletes’ baseball skills while teaching them to apply those lessons to their lives off the field,” said Rally. “Municipal Stadium has helped produce a number of homegrown champions over the years. My hope is that these camp sessions will assist our participants in realizing and furthering their dreams of someday playing here in a Giants uniform.”

During each session, campers will work on all fundamentals of the game with a focus on baserunning, hitting, catching, fielding and throwing mechanics. Report showcases organization’s impact in the South Bay

San-Jose-GiantsThe San Jose Giants released today their 2014 Community Report. The report is a complete detail of the organization’s community involvement and contributions. From expanding the team’s extensive fundraising efforts to a record number of mascot appearances and the organization’s rise from twenty-fifth in Minor League Baseball’s social media rankings to second overall, the San Jose Giants presence was felt well beyond the Municipal Stadium gates this year.

“I want to personally thank all of our fans and partners for your loyalty and passion for the San Jose Giants and our place in the community,” said Daniel Orum, San Jose Giants President and CEO. “Through the organization’s extensive work with youth sports groups, schools and regional non-profit organizations, the team has introduced baseball to millions of homes in Northern California and this year alone raised over $480,000 for charitable causes.”

The 2014 Community Report showcases the variety of charitable efforts the San Jose Giants are involved with both inside and beyond the Municipal Stadium gates. Highlights of the report include over 150 appearances made by San Jose Giants personnel, unique, community-centered evening’s at Municipal Stadium, events in partnership with the Giants Community Fund to help under served youth and in-kind donations to more than 750 local and national organizations.

San Jose Giants 2015 Military Trading Card Set Nominations Now Open

Operation: Care and Comfort will again sponsor giveaway based on fan submissions

San-Jose-GiantsToday the San Jose Giants announced and opened nominations for their second Military Trading Card Set, presented by Operation: Care and Comfort. The trading card set will again be made up entirely from fan nominations of current or former members of the military. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, December 19. All submissions must be accompanied by a photo of the nominee, in military uniform, sent to info@sjgiants.com. The sets will be given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance at the San Jose Giants Fourth Annual Salute to the Military Day on Saturday, April 18.

Operation-Care-and-ComfortLast year’s 36 member set included honorees from every branch of the military as well as a number of notable honorees: local icon, turned national news story Joe Bell and courageous war hero Pat Tillman. San Jose Giants Announce Ice Bucket Challenge Auction at Municipal Stadium

Entire team to take part in auction for the cause with fan participation

San-Jose-GiantsThe San Jose Giants have announced that they will host an Ice Bucket Challenge Auction on Thursday, August 21 to benefit the ALS Emergency Treatment Fund. Fans will be able to bid on the opportunity to pour a bucket of ice water on their favorite San Jose Giants player following the final out. If every player receives a bid during Thursday’s game, San Jose Giants’ mascot Gigante will take the Ice Bucket Challenge and nominate three very special friends. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the San Jose-based ALS Emergency Treatment Fund.

ALS-etf-logo“The Ice Bucket Challenge has grabbed the attention of the nation and in the true spirit of Minor League Baseball we want to involve our community to raise awareness and make an impact,” said Juliana Paoli, Chief Marketing Officer of the San Jose Giants. “This auction represents a tremendous opportunity for our fans, the community and the entire San Jose Giants organization to continue the awesome movement begun by Pete Frates and raise funds for the ALS Emergency Treatment Fund.”

San Jose Giants’ Unveil Military Trading Card Set

All branches of United States Military represented in 36 card set

San Jose, CA– The San Jose Giants unveiled today their 2014 Military Trading Card Set, presented by Operation: Care and Comfort. All branches of the United States Military are represented in the set. In addition, the trading cards include current military personnel, men who have been killed in action as well as veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. Included in the set are local San Jose heroes Joe Bell and Pat Tillman. The following is a complete list of all selections for the 2014 San Jose Giants Military Trading Card Set:

The sets will be given away to the first 1,000 fans through the gates on Salute to the Military Day on April 13. The day will be an entire afternoon dedicated to honoring the brave men and women defending our country as the pregame festivities will include a first pitch ceremony, color guard presentation and on-field recognition of the individuals chosen for the Military Trading Card Set. The team will also wear special military themed jerseys. The team will don these jerseys again on Memorial Day, May 26 against the Visalia Rawhide, where they will be part of an in-game silent auction directly benefiting Operation: Care and Comfort. On May 26, each of the highest bidders will be able to go on the field following the game and receive their new autographed jersey right off the respective San Jose Giant’s back.

2014 San Jose Giants Summer Camps Now Open for Registration

Two Camp Sessions Scheduled for summer at Municipal Stadium

The San Jose Giants announced today that they will host their eighth annual Summer Camps June 16-19 (Session 1) and July 28-31 (Session 2) at Municipal Stadium. Both camp sessions will focus on developing baseball skills for boys and girls ages 8 through 14.

The San Jose Giants recognize the importance of individual instruction and are committed to having numerous instructors on-hand. Camp participants will receive the most personal interaction and focused attention possible as all camps will maintain a 10:1 camper to coach ratio. The coaching staff will be led by John Rally, current San Jose Giants Ticket Services and Youth Development Program Manager.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to help develop young athletes’ baseball skills and also teach them to apply those lessons to their lives off the field,” said Rally. “Municipal Stadium is a place where prospects come to further their quest of becoming a Major Leaguer. My hope is that these camp sessions will assist our participants in realizing and furthering their dreams of someday playing here in a Giants uniform.”

During each session, campers will work on all fundamentals of the game with a focus on base-running, hitting, throwing mechanics, catching, and fielding. Both camps will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day and cost $295 per camp prior to May 1. Following May 1, the cost to register will increase to $315 per camp. Included in the registration price, each camp participant will receive tickets for the entire family to a designated San Jose Giants game, Summer Camp T-Shirt, lunch provided each day, and over 20 hours of baseball instruction!
