Great Day Farms, Naturals Partner on Free Baseball Clinic

Kids invited to signup for FREE clinic prior to the game on Saturday, June 21st

Northwest-Arkansas-NaturalsGreat Day Farms, along with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals players and coaches are once again teaming up for the seventh annual Youth Baseball Clinic at Arvest Ballpark, to be held from 2 until 4 P.M. on Saturday, June 21st prior to that night’s 6:05 P.M. game against the Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A Colorado Rockies.

The FREE Youth Baseball Clinic is open to children ages 6-12 and will cover instruction of key baseball fundamentals, including hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running. All participants will be given a complimentary Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Grass Berm ticket to that evening’s game against the Drillers, and the first 300 children to arrive for the clinic will also receive a FREE t-shirt courtesy of Great Day Farms.

Instruction during the clinic will be given by select Naturals players and coaches. Following the instruction portion of the clinic, an autograph session will occur along the 1st base side of the concourse for approximately 20 minutes.

There is a sign-up form located on the Naturals website, nwanaturals.com, under the community menu that interested parents can print, fill out, and then fax or mail in to register their children for the clinic. The FREE Youth Baseball Clinic is also open to local youth coaches as they may also fill out the form and fax in their roster to register their entire teams. The deadline to register for the event is Wednesday, June 18th, but participants are encouraged to sign up quickly, as previous events have filled to capacity prior to the deadline. Sign-up begins at Arvest Ballpark at 1:30pm so we ask that you arrive early as participation is limited to the first 500 children. In addition to the kid’s clinic, fans are invited to bring canned food items to the ballpark at their own request that will be donated to the Samaritan House; however, a food donation is not mandatory for participation.

The ballpark will be cleared following the FREE Youth Baseball Clinic and then gates will reopen at 5:00 P.M. for the Naturals game against the Tulsa Drillers scheduled to begin at 6:05 P.M. that evening. Great-Lakes-LoonsThe Michigan Baseball Foundation is pleased to announce the dates of this season’s Loons Summer Baseball Camps – presented by CherryBerry – at Dow Diamond. The first two-day camp will be held June 19-20.

The camps will pair participants with professional players and coaches from the Great Lakes Loons in a strong learning environment. Loons manager Bill Haselman will serve as Camp Director.

Campers will learn various aspects of hitting, throwing, fielding and pitching while being instructed in the characteristics that define successful baseball players. The drills taught will be the same ones utilized by the coaches and player personnel of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Great Lakes Loons.

Loons Summer Baseball Camp Dates:
June 19 & 20 (ages 7-12) • July 16 & 17 (ages 7-12)

Camp instruction will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. Participants will also receive a camp t-shirt and two tickets to a Loons game that will take place following the second day of instruction, as well as a CherryBerry coupon. All campers will be invited on the field for special pre-game recognition.

Each two-day Loons Summer Baseball Camp is $90 per person with all proceeds benefiting the Michigan Baseball Foundation. A portion of the entry fee is tax deductible.

Jacksonville-SunsArea kids can learn baseball skills from some of the top players in the Miami Marlins organization as the Jacksonville Suns sets its annual camp for June 19-20 at Bragan Field.

The two-day camp will feature the Suns manager Andy Barkett and his staff with several Suns players teaching all aspects of the game of baseball.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. each day for kids ages 7-12. Campers will receive a hat, lunch and a ticket to a Suns game for only $85 dollars (plus tax) during the two days of instruction. Space is limited for the camp.

Gwinnett Braves Set to Host Youth Baseball Camps

Gwinnett BravesThe Gwinnett Braves are set to bring back Youth Baseball Camps for the 2014 season. The G-Braves will be holding their annual three-day baseball camps at Coolray Field in June and July.

There will be two separate three-day camps. The first session will run from June 24-26, while the second and final session will go from July 21-23. G-Braves’ players and coaches will teach kids what it takes to become the best ballplayer they can be. Campers will learn basic fundamentals like hitting and pitching and specialized skills like bunting and base running.

The camp is open for kids ages 8-14 and will run from 9 AM to 12 PM each day. Each participant will receive a T-shirt at the beginning of camp and will be served lunch at the conclusion of each session. On the final day, the players and coaches will gather for an autograph session with the kids. In addition to the instruction and player interaction throughout the three days, each camper will receive two Field Box Tickets for a Gwinnett Braves home game and will get to take the field as part of the “High Five Tunnel” prior to the game action.

Three-Day Camp registration is $100. All campers who participate in the Three-Day Camps will receive the following:

  • G-Braves Baseball Camp T-Shirt
  • Two (2) Field Box Tickets
  • Lunch on all three days

BlueClaws Baseball Academy Open Tryout on May 4th

LAKEWOOD, NJ – BlueClaws Baseball Academy will hold an open tryout on May 4th at FirstEnergy Park with registration starting at 9 am and the tryouts starting at 10 am.

Coming off an extremely successful Fall and Winter season with their two 17-under teams, the BBA Claws will be adding a freshman team (for players that are currently high school freshman). Last year’s roster included players from 11 high schools and three counties. In all, the organization will have three teams consisting of 40 players at both the 17u and 16u levels.

Anyone that is currently in 9th, 10th or 11th grade and interested in trying out must contact Joe Agnello at 732-901-7000 ext 209 or email jagnello@blueclaws.com to register. There is a $20 tryout fee though any player that makes a team will have the money credited towards their registration.

The BBA Claws will begin practicing in June in order to be ready for the start of the Summer season. The team will participate in Perfect Game Super 25 Mid-Atlantic Regional qualifier, Diamond Nation 18u World Series, and BlueChip Prospects Showcase at Maple Zone Sports Institute, their own BBA College Showcase, weekly practices, and take part in a pre-game ceremony before a Lakewood BlueClaws game.

The schedule will also consist of games played against local teams at FirstEnergy Park and other local fields. The roster will be made up of Shore-area players and compete at both the 16u and 17u age level. The team will again be run by Joe Agnello, the director of the BlueClaws Baseball Academy, whose resume consists of nine years of coaching at the collegiate level, and for Major League Baseball player development in Southeast China.

BBA has also teamed up with Turn 2 Sports Consulting of Tinton Falls to help players and parents with the recruiting process. This exclusive partnership will educate, coach, and train families on how the recruiting details, NCAA academic and eligibility requirements, effective marketing strategies, and basic phone and interview preparation.

BlueClaws Baseball Academy is a year-long instruction-based program for youth players at the Jersey Shore. They run clinics througout the year and in 2013, ran two 17-under travel teams based out of FirstEnergy Park. It is believed to be the first time that a Minor League Baseball team sponsored and hosted youth travel teams from their own facility.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 8, 2014) – The Fort Myers Miracle are proud to team with Dave Clark Foundation for the ninth annual Special Needs Baseball camp on Saturday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at Hammond Stadium. The baseball camp is open to the first 25 individuals, with a physical or mental challenge, age 18 and under.

The entire Miracle team and coaches will teach kids the baseball skills of hitting, throwing, catching and fielding. The camp affords the opportunity for campers to experience the feeling of being a professional baseball player for a day.

Cape Coral resident Dave Clark hosts the camp. Suffering from the effects of Post Polion Syndrome (PPS), 61-year old Clark amassed over 600 wins during a 30-year baseball career that began in the early 1970s. Currently, Clark focuses his energy on public speaking, organizing disability events and is an envoy international coach for Major League Baseball.

As part of the Disability Dream & Do activities, Clark will present the “Pulling Each Other Along Award” prior to the 6:05 p.m. Miracle game versus the Palm Beach Cardinals on Saturday, April 26. The award is presented to an unsung hero(s) whose selfless acts have helped those with a disability. “There are two types of dreamers. Dreamers that dream and dreamers that Dream & Do,” said Clark, the only professional baseball player to pitch from crutches. “D3 Baseball with the Fort Myers Miracle gives the youth a wonderful chance to do both, Dream & Do.”

“This day always leaves an impression on all of our players, coaches, and our entire front office staff. Kids are asked to bring their own baseball gloves and one adult chaperone is required to be in attendance with each child attending the camp. Each participant will receive four tickets for the Miracle game that evening at 6:05 p.m. Lunch will also be provided following the camp activities.

Learn From the Pros at BlueClaws Youth Baseball Camp

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Young players can learn the game from the pros at the annual BlueClaws Youth Baseball Camps in 2014 where BlueClaws players serve as instructors to youngsters at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws Youth Baseball Camp is open to players ages 7-12 and there are three sessions available:
Session I: Thursday, July 10th & Friday, July 11th.
Session II: Thursday, July 24th & Friday, July 25th.
Session III: Monday, August 4th, Tuesday, August 5th, Thursday, August 7th, & Friday, August 8th.

Camp each day runs from 9 am – 12 pm and includes lunch from 12 pm – 12:30 pm, an autograph session with BlueClaws players on the last day of camp, BlueClaws merchandise, and one ticket to the BlueClaws game on Wednesday, August 27th.

The camp will cover all aspects of the game, with emphasis on hitting, base running, fielding, throwing, pitching, and position work. The objective of the camp is to instill the fundamentals of baseball, promote good sportsmanship, and create an enjoyable learning atmosphere for all.

2014 San Jose Giants Summer Camps Now Open for Registration

Two Camp Sessions Scheduled for summer at Municipal Stadium

The San Jose Giants announced today that they will host their eighth annual Summer Camps June 16-19 (Session 1) and July 28-31 (Session 2) at Municipal Stadium. Both camp sessions will focus on developing baseball skills for boys and girls ages 8 through 14.

The San Jose Giants recognize the importance of individual instruction and are committed to having numerous instructors on-hand. Camp participants will receive the most personal interaction and focused attention possible as all camps will maintain a 10:1 camper to coach ratio. The coaching staff will be led by John Rally, current San Jose Giants Ticket Services and Youth Development Program Manager.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to help develop young athletes’ baseball skills and also teach them to apply those lessons to their lives off the field,” said Rally. “Municipal Stadium is a place where prospects come to further their quest of becoming a Major Leaguer. My hope is that these camp sessions will assist our participants in realizing and furthering their dreams of someday playing here in a Giants uniform.”

During each session, campers will work on all fundamentals of the game with a focus on base-running, hitting, throwing mechanics, catching, and fielding. Both camps will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day and cost $295 per camp prior to May 1. Following May 1, the cost to register will increase to $315 per camp. Included in the registration price, each camp participant will receive tickets for the entire family to a designated San Jose Giants game, Summer Camp T-Shirt, lunch provided each day, and over 20 hours of baseball instruction! As the Reading Fightin Phils prepare for the 2014 season, manager Dusty Wathan is giving local youth catchers a chance to do the same for their respective baseball seasons at the Dusty Wathan Catching Clinic on Sunday, March 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The clinic will provide players ages eight through college aged the opportunity to work on advanced catching skills with the Fightins skipper.

Sign-up to Wathan’s coaching clinic cost $60 per person and $50 per person if you sign up three or more individuals. To reserve your spot in the clinic, sign up via Fightins.com or call 610-370-BALL.

A former major league catcher, Wathan had a 14-year career playing in the Seattle Mariners, Florida Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians, and Philadelphia Phillies minor league systems. He made his major league debut in 2002 with the Royals, going 3-for-5 with an RBI in three games.

Wathan is heading into his seventh season managing at the minor league level where he has a record of 138-146 in the past two seasons as manager of the Fightin Phils. Since he took over the reins in 2012, Wathan has seen 14 of his players, including Darin Ruf, Cody Asche, and Jonathan Pettibone, go on to make their debuts in the majors. He has also had a major hand in the development of standout Phillies catching prospects Cameron Rupp, Tommy Joseph, and Sebastian Valle.

Popular Dash Baseball Academy returns in 2014

Children ages 5-12 will learn from players, coaches at BB&T Ballpark

For a third consecutive season, BB&T Ballpark will host three sessions of the Dash’s Youth Baseball Academy, powered by The Hitting Zone. Young baseball players between the ages of 5 and 12 will interact with Dash players and coaches while improving their hitting, pitching and baseball skills during the three-day session.

The cost for each participant is $120 for the entire session. In addition to the baseball training, each student will receive lunch all three days, along with a Dash t-shirt and hat. Plus, all participants will receive two tickets to a Dash game during their session. At this game, they will be recognized for their work during the academy.

The Baseball Academy runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on three consecutive days. Here are the three sessions’ dates, along with the day of the Dash game to which each student will receive two tickets:

Session 1: July 7-9 (Dash game on July 9)
Session 2: July 16-18 (Dash game on July 16)
Session 3: August 12-14 (Dash game on August 14)

The camps will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for all days of the session. Boys and girls of all skill levels will have the chance to learn baseball and fundamentals from the future stars of the Philadelphia Phillies. Each day, members of the IronPigs coaching staff and select IronPigs players will teach the basics of the game and help all campers become better ballplayers!

In addition to meeting and playing with IronPigs players, each camper will receive a daily lunch, two tickets to a selected IronPigs game during the camp (Camp #1, June 19; Camp #2, July 23; Camp #3, July 31), on-field recognition prior to the IronPigs game and an official IronPigs Fantasy Camp T-shirt!

Baseball Academy to Host Holiday Clinics

LAKEWOOD, NJ – BlueClaws Baseball Academy will host two holiday camps, each for players ages 8-13 running from Thursday, December 26th through Saturday, December 28th at FirstEnergy Park.

The Holiday Hitting Camp runs from 9 am – 10:30 am each day. This three-day program is designed to teach players the essential techniques and philosophies of hitting. Each day, players will work on pre-pitch techniques, stride, balance, grip, bat path, and hitting zones among other aspects of hitting. There will also be games to make this a fun, informative environment.

The Holiday Pitching Camp runs from 11 am – 12 pm each day. This three-day progressive program is designed to teach players the proper throwing mechanics to keep them healthy during the season. Each session will build on the previous in order to give the players a multitude of drills that they can use at home throughout the winter months to be ready to pitch when the season starts.

All camps are kept to a maximum of 16 players to allow for an intimate setting.

Camps will be run by Agnello, BlueClaws Baseball Academy Executive Director, and the staff of the BlueClaws Baseball Academy Claws, the 17-under travel team. Agnello, who played Division 1 baseball, has experience coaching for MLB Player Development at the international level and has eight years of collegiate coaching experience at the Division I, Division III, and Junior College levels.

About BlueClaws Baseball Academy: BlueClaws Baseball Academy provides elite baseball instruction to youth players throughout the year at FirstEnergy Park and is fully supported by the Lakewood BlueClaws, single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. This fall, the BlueClaws and BlueClaws Baseball Academy ran two 17-under teams, believed to be the first time that a Minor League Baseball team had their own youth teams playing home games in the Minor League stadium. 33 players from Monmouth, Ocean, and Burlington Counties participated.

Baseball Camp set for Thanksgiving weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Nov. 11, 2013) – After a successful event last week, the Winston-Salem Dash and Winston-Salem State University are partnering to hold a three-day Baseball Camp at BB&T Ballpark from November 29 through December 1, the three days after Thanksgiving.

All participants will work with the Rams players and coaches on various baseball skills, such as hitting, throwing and fielding. All campers will also receive a t-shirt to commemorate their experience, along with a free token to The Hitting Zone. Also, lunch will be provided after Friday and Saturday’s activities.

The registration fee is $50 per day or $120 for the entire three-day camp. Here is the camp schedule:

Friday, November 29: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saturday, November 30: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Sunday, December 1: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

To register, parents can call Brian Boesch at (336) 714-2287 (extension 1130), stop by the Dash’s front office at 926 Brookstown Avenue or fill out this form and fax it to (336) 714-2288. Payment via cash, check or credit card will be accepted, and parents must pay in advance.

The baseball camp is open to young baseball players at least five years old. Participants must bring a glove, and they are encouraged to bring their bat, too.

The Winston-Salem Dash and Winston-Salem State University are teaming up for a Baseball Camp at BB&T Ballpark on Wednesday, October 30, from 5-8:30 p.m.

For just $50, participants will work with the Rams’ baseball team on various skills, such as hitting, throwing and fielding. All campers will also receive a t-shirt to commemorate their experience.

To register, parents must call Brian Boesch in the Dash’s front office at (336) 714-2287, extension 1130 by noon next Wednesday. Payment will be accepted over the phone in the form of a credit card, or parents can bring cash or check to BB&T Ballpark on the day of the baseball camp.
