Woodpeckers to host Alzheimer's Awareness Night at Segra Stadium

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – AUGUST 3, 2022 – The Alzheimer’s Association – Eastern North Chapter is teaming up with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers for Paint the Park Purple — Alzheimer’s Awareness Night on Friday, August 12 at Segra Stadium.

Proceeds from Paint the Park Purple will support the Association’s 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Fayetteville taking place on October 29 —to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

The game against the Down East Wood Ducks begins at 7:05 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. The game will conclude with fireworks. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and the first 1,000 fans through the gates will take home a custom purple hat sponsored by Edward Jones Cumberland County featuring the Woodpeckers signature logo.

The Woodpeckers will take the field wearing purple jerseys in honor of all who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. A jersey auction will take place both in-game and online with the proceeds benefiting the Fayetteville Walk.

Those wishing to learn more about Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Fayetteville are invited to come early and stop by the Walk Kickoff Tent to learn more, meet the local committee, register for the Walk and pick up information and team captain resources. The tent will be located outside next to the stadium’s box office from 1 – 3 p.m.

The inaugural Paint the Park Purple took place in 2019 and has since raised over $16,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Chihuahuas Launch “Fetch the FUNdraiser” with ADP to Benefit Humane Society of El Paso

EL PASO – June 28, 2022 – The El Paso Chihuahuas have partnered with ADP to launch “Fetch the FUNdraiser,” benefiting the Humane Society of El Paso. Fetch the FUNdraiser runs now through July 18.

The Chihuahuas and ADP are asking fans to donate a minimum of $5. Donations are being collected via text-to-donate by texting “FETCH” to 844-311-5007.

“We are proud to partner with ADP to raise funds for the Humane Society of El Paso,” said Brad Taylor, MountainStar Sports Group Senior Vice President and Chihuahuas General Manager. “The care the Humane Society provides is important to the lives of these local animals.”

Funds from the Fetch the FUNdraiser program will go towards purchasing blankets, toys, and supplies requested by the Humane Society. For every $5 raised, the El Paso Chihuahuas will donate an additional toy or leash.

“The generous donations of our community impact our shelter in many ways. With over 150 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens currently residing at our facility, we rely on donors to help support our animals and programs providing enrichment and care,” said Tayler Quintana, Humane Society Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator.

Fans who make a monetary donation of $5 or more will be entered-to-win one of five Chihuahuas Prize packs. For every $5 donation, a fan will receive one enter-to-win ($10=2 entries, $15=3 entries, etc.).

Along with the Fetch the FUNdraiser program, the Chihuahuas Volunteer Pack, presented by Helen of Troy, will volunteer at the Humane Society alongside ADP employees on Friday, July 22.

The Humane Society of El Paso (HSEP) is a no-kill animal shelter in El Paso operating for the purpose of building a better community for all animals through adoptions, education, foster care, volunteer work, and community events according to the website.

“Without the help of our community, we would not be able to do what we do,” said Quintana. “Our community is an integral part of helping to rehabilitate and rehome the animals under our care.”

The 501(c)(3) non-profit does not receive local or federal government funding and is solely dependent on adoption and service fees, fundraising activities, grants, and donations from the community. HSEP is not associated with any national organizations.

Hope At Bat: Gades to host Hope At Bat game Wednesday

The Hudson Valley Renegades will host their Hope At Bat game on Wednesday, June 29 as part of MiLB’s partnership with the American Cancer Society.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (June 27, 2022) – Beginning summer 2022, professional baseball teams will join forces again to positively impact communities all across America. Minor League Baseball (MiLB) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) have announced a multi-year renewal of their long-time partnership. The renewal will see a reprisal of the Hope At Bat program – a fundraising and awareness campaign in support of cancer research – for the first time since the 2019 season.

The Hope At Bat initiative is designed to increase overall cancer awareness and raise critical funds for cancer research, while positively impacting the fan experience and community connectivity at MiLB stadiums across the country. Hope At Bat aims to educate fans about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, as well as the importance of age-appropriate cancer screenings. All funding raised through the Hope At Bat program will support ACS’ cancer research efforts.

The Renegades will host their Hope At Bat game this week on Wednesday, June 29th vs. Brooklyn Cyclones. Hope At Bat takes place on a We Care Wednesday presented by Westchester Medical Center Heath Network (WMCHealth).

Two purple bats have been provided by MiLB, each to be signed by the team, one of which will be featured on the MiLB auction platform (with ACS as the beneficiary), and the other to be auctioned off locally with proceeds to benefit Gold Together. More details on the auction to follow.

Gold Together is the American Cancer Society initiative dedicated to increasing awareness of childhood cancer, supporting families facing a diagnosis, and raising funds to end childhood cancer. Funds raised directly support childhood cancer research, education, advocacy, and services, as well as promote cancer prevention efforts targeting children to help them reduce their risk for cancer later in life.

The Gold Together movement was created by childhood brain cancer survivor Cole Eicher, whose dream was to have a Gold Together team at every Relay For Life event, starting with his event in St. Petersburg, Florida. His vision was to raise childhood cancer awareness, support families facing childhood cancer, and connect those families to a lifetime of resources through the American Cancer Society.

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Charity Golf Outing to be Held on September 22

GRAND CHUTE, WI – Get your group together now! The annual Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Golf Outing is set for Thursday, September 22 at Shamrock Heights Golf Course in New London. The event will raise money for Timber Rattlers Give Back to benefit local charitable organizations.

Great Clips and Charlotte Knights Raise Over $30K to Support Children with Pediatric Brain Tumors

CHARLOTTE, NC — Every day, 13 children are diagnosed with a brain tumor, the deadliest form of childhood cancer. Great Clips and the Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, partnered for the eighth year in a row to help change that with a donation of $33,353 to Vs. Cancer. The contribution was the most of any year since the partnership started in 2015 and makes the total contribution of the partnership over $76,000.

As a signature fundraising campaign of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Vs. Cancer gives sports teams, athletes and communities the platform to help children with cancer. Proceeds help fund child life programs in Levine Children’s Hospital and lifesaving pediatric brain tumor research.

“Brain tumors are the most common form of cancer in children up to age 14, so our mission is to cure all pediatric brain tumors and transform how children and their families are cared for,” said Dave Mays, senior campaign manager for Vs. Cancer. “Community support in donations like this one is incredibly important in the fight for healthier, happier futures for children with cancer. We’re grateful to Great Clips, the Charlotte Knights and the Charlotte community overall for their continued support.”

For the past several weeks, customers visiting their Charlotte-area Great Clips salons could donate to the effort and local Great Clips franchisees contributed. In addition, several members of the Charlotte Knights staff led supporting fundraisers and shaved their heads to encourage donations.

Missions Announce Amount Raised from Uvalde Jersey Fundraiser

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions Baseball Club is proud to announce that the Uvalde Jersey Fundraiser Event on Thursday, June 16th raised $50, 357. All of the money raised will go towards the Robb School Memorial Fund.

Donations began at 10 a.m. Thursday morning with the option of placing call-in bids. Beginning at 6 p.m., fans at Nelson Wolff Stadium were able to bid on the jersey and various items at an auction table inside the third base gate.

Bidding ended 15 minutes after the final out was recorded. The Missions also had options for individual donations throughout the game. During the third inning, a “Pass-the-Hat” occurred throughout the seating bowl, giving fans multiple opportunities to donate.

The San Antonio Missions hosted the Amarillo Sod Poodles for Thursday night’s game. The Missions defeated Amarillo 4-3 after a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Missions Will Accept Call-in Bids Beginning at 10 a.m. (CT)

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions Baseball Club has announced more information regarding the Uvalde Jersey Auction on Thursday, June 16th. The Missions will be accepting call-in bids beginning at 10 a.m. (CT) on June 16th. There will also be an auction table located near guest services at Nelson Wolff Stadium.

For anyone interested in calling in to place their bids, they can contact either of these two phone numbers: (830) 285-3850 or (210) 449-9120. Live bidding from the auction table will begin when the gates open at 6 p.m. (CT).

There will be 36 jerseys to bid on. 35 of those jerseys will be from the players and the coaching staff with the other jersey being a team signed jersey. The auction will also include various donated items from the San Antonio community. Each jersey will begin with an opening bid of $100.00.

During the game, there will be a “Pass-the-Hat” throughout the stadium for individual donations separate from the jersey auction. The auction table will also have an individual donation option.

The San Antonio Missions will be taking the field wearing Uvalde Coyotes high school baseball jerseys and the jerseys will be auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting the Robb School Memorial Fund.

The Wichita Wind Surge Continues Tornado Relief Support

The Surge announces monthly auctions through the end of the season

Continuing the season-long support for those impacted by the Andover Tornado, the Wichita Wind Surge will host a monthly auction featuring autographed and game-used memorabilia. All proceeds will be earmarked for the students of Andover’s Prairie Creek Elementary School.

The Wind Surge monthly auction begins at 12:00 pm on June 13, featuring an autographed baseball from the Royals third baseman and shortstop, Bobby Witt Jr. The former first round draft pick made multiple appearances in Wichita with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals during the 2021 season.

Each month an item – donated by the Wichita Wind Surge, Minnesota Twins or Kansas City Royals – will be live on the Wind Surge auction site. Each auction will begin on the second Monday of the month and run for seven days.

RWJBarnabas Health And Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey Host National Cancer Survivors Event with the Somerset Patriots

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, partnered with RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey to host National Cancer Survivors Night at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday, June 7.

Over 200 cancer survivors and their guests gathered at the ballpark in celebration of their strength and commitment to defeat cancer and inspire others to do the same.

13-year old cancer survivor Grace Eline and Dr. Rahul Parikh threw out ceremonial first pitches wearing Patriots home jerseys with “Beat Cancer” on the back.

“The opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch alongside 13-year old cancer survivor Grace Eline, with more than 200 cancer survivors and their families in attendance, was inspirational,” said Dr. Parikh, Medical Director, Laurie Proton Therapy Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. “As an organization, the Somerset Patriots share our core values, and this was truly a special evening celebrating survivorship, while raising awareness for cancer research, treatment and prevention.”

Eline was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018 and received her successful treatments including proton beam therapy at RWJBarnabas Health facilities- Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, the Laurie Proton Therapy Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Grace is cancer free and living her life as a “normal” teenager.

The event was also part of Hope At Bat, a Minor League Baseball initiative designed to help save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. The Patriots will be auctioning off a team signed purple bat through MiLB Auctions. The online auction will run until 9:00 pm on Thursday, June 30. On June 30, 100% of game sponsorships and a portion of gate tickets sales will benefit Jacob’s Village. The proceeds from the game will enable Jacob’s Village to provide accessible housing for people with disabilities and help Jacob’s Village residents live independently.

“We would like to thank the Evansville Otters organization for their long-standing support of Jacob’s Village and our mission for many years,” Jacob’s Village Development Director Laura Hurt said.

“It’s been a wonderful partnership with the Evansville Otters, and over our 16-year history, we have raised over $210,000 to support people with disabilities.”

The mission of Jacob’s Village is to develop a safe, walk-able neighborhood community where people with disabilities and older adults can find meaningful relationships, housing that is affordable and accessible, and activities that encourage active minds and bodies.

“This will be a fun, family-friendly game. We invite the community to come out on Thursday, June 30 to enjoy exciting Otters baseball, a big fireworks show after the game ahead of July 4, free popcorn provided by Wolk Financial, Thirsty Thursday, a big half-pot, live DJ, and more!” Hurt added.

“This partnership was created 16 years ago and has turned into a big fundraiser for Jacob’s Village,” Otters Vice President, Sales Joel Padfield said. “It brings in a lot of fans that our players love to play in front of. It will be a fun, special night at Bosse Field.”

$5 general admission tickets for this year’s game may be purchased at all G.D. Ritzy’s locations, Bosse Field and Jacob’s Village. The Bosse Field box office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Brett Favre Returns to the Field for Donald Driver Charity Softball Game

The Pro Football Hall of Famer and Super Bowl Champion will join Donald Driver, James Jones, AJ Dillon, Aaron Jones, and many more for the Donald Driver Charity Softball Game presented by Network Health at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Favre was the host of the annual charity softball game from 1999 through 2007 before Driver took over as the host for the 2008 game.

“I am excited that my brother from another mother, Brett Favre, is returning to play in the charity softball game he started 20 years ago,” said Driver. “Let’s turn out in HUGE numbers Packers fans!”

Favre joins Desmond Bishop, Jarrett Bush, Nick Collins, Robert Ferguson, Jermichael Finley, Antonio Freeman, and Ahman Green as confirmed participants in this year’s game.

Flying Squirrels hosting 'Dinner on the Infield' on July 14

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Flying Squirrels are hosting “Dinner on the Infield” at The Diamond on Thursday, July 14 with proceeds benefiting Flying Squirrels Charities.

The dinner, which runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 14, will take place on the stadium’s infield and will feature food served by Richmond staple, LUNCH.SUPPER!

Tickets for the event are on sale now with a special, discounted “early bird” rate for $50 each or $90 for a pair. Beginning June 21, tickets are $75 each or $125 for two. Tickets can be purchased here.

“This is another unique experience we are bringing outside of baseball,” Flying Squirrels CEO Todd “Parney” Parnell said. “In a wonderfully food-centric city like Richmond, this dining experience on the infield of The Diamond will not only be memorable but raise funds for the important work of Flying Squirrels Charities.”

The event will include an open bar, food from LUNCH.SUPPER!, special entertainment, live music from the band Main Street Station, games and more. Vegan food options will be available.

Attire for the event is “Summer Cocktail.” High heels are not allowed on the field, but wedges are permitted.

Proceeds from the event benefit the missions of Flying Squirrels Charities, including the All-Star Legacy Scholarship and the Richmond 34 Scholarship.

TinCaps Jersey Auction to Help Fund Daisies Monument

Fort Wayne TinCaps and City of Fort Wayne partner on Fort Wayne Daisies Player Monument

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne TinCaps, in partnership with the City of Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department, are raising funds to renovate and improve the Fort Wayne Daisies monument at the historic site of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) team’s home field, located at Fort Wayne’s Memorial Park.

“Fort Wayne has a rich baseball history and the Daisies are front and center as trailblazers for the sport in this city,” said Michael Limmer, TinCaps Vice President of Marketing. “While Memorial Park has long had a marker to designate it as the former home field of the Fort Wayne Daisies, we felt each individual Daisies player deserved to be recognized as well. This new monument will highlight each of the 144 former players and managers associated with the Daisies during the team’s existence from 1945 through 1954.”

The enhanced monument was designed and created as a partnership with the City of Fort Wayne’s Parks and Recreation Department. Memorial Park is located approximately two miles east of Parkview Field, where the TinCaps play.

“It is fitting to honor each player and the managers of the Fort Wayne Daisies on one of the very sites where they played,” said Steve McDaniel, Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Director. “These women represented Fort Wayne, our parks and recreational sports with distinction coming out of the World War II conflict and set a tone of excellence and team spirit that we still celebrate today. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is glad to partner with the Fort Wayne TinCaps in this effort to memorialize the names of the Fort Wayne Daisies players with a monument in Memorial Park.”

The TinCaps are hoping that fans of the Daisies will help make the monument possible.

“The Parks & Recreation Department has been incredible to work with on this project,” said Limmer. “From the moment we proposed the idea they have been onboard 100 percent. They created the plans, the layout, the design for the monument, and are covering the cost of preparing the future site and all surrounding landscaping. Now, we just need to fundraise the remaining portion of the project to make this monument happen.”

The TinCaps, Minor League Baseball’s High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will wear replica Daisies uniforms during their game on Saturday, May 21. The jerseys are being auctioned online with 100 percent of all winning bids going directly toward the monument project.

“The TinCaps are covering the cost of producing the jerseys so all proceeds from the auction will go directly to making this monument a reality,” Limmer said. “Every penny that these jerseys raise is one step closer to making this monument happen. The Fort Wayne Daisies players, and their families, deserve to have their names permanently on display for future generations. We don’t want their legacy to be forgotten.”

Through these programs that focus on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship, JABC aims to inspire, prepare, and empower BC youth for lifelong success.

July 13 – Greater Vancouver Food Bank, whose mission is to create empowering environments that provide and promote access to healthy food, education, and training.

July 27 – Challenger Baseball, a division of Baseball BC that provides an opportunity for children with cognitive or physical disabilities to enjoy the full benefits of participation in baseball at a level structured to their abilities.

August 3 – Out On Screen, a professional arts organization with two key program initiatives: the annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival and Out In Schools, a province-wide educational program aimed primarily at high school students with program delivery across the education system that engages high school students using film and video to address homophobia, transphobia, and bullying.

August 24 – BGC South Coast BC, proudly serving over 10,000 children, youth and families annually, providing fun, safe spaces to learn, grow and heal.

Sept 7 –* Foundry*, a province-wide network of integrated health and social service centres for young people ages 12-24. Foundry Centres provide a one-stop-shop for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, primary care, social services and youth and family peer supports.

Each charity will benefit from a special fundraising code that fans can use to purchase tickets. A portion of the ticket purchase price will go directly to support the charity. Epilepsy Foundation’s Walk to END EPILEPSY® Series and 2.6-Million-Mile Challenge at Day Air Ballpark on Saturday

Dayton, Ohio — The Epilepsy Foundation will kick off its Walk to END EPILEPSY® series in Ohio with an in-person event on Saturday, May 7 at Day Air Ball Park.

The Epilepsy Foundation’s Walk to END EPILEPSY® series is a platform to create awareness, share stories, help educate others, and raise funds for the more than 129,000 Ohioans living with epilepsy. In addition, the Epilepsy Foundation is hosting the 2.6-Million-Mile Challenge Walk Your Way.

“This year’s Walk to END EPILEPSY® is back, and it’s better than ever,” said Dr. Crystal Hagans, Executive Director of Epilepsy Foundation Ohio. “Safety is our priority, so we are offering different ways that people can participate in our community. We invite everyone to join with friends, family, and colleagues to celebrate one another in person at Day Air Ball Park or opt to make the walk on their own as part of the 2.6-Million-Mile Challenge. No matter where people are, each step and fundraising dollar counts.”

Epilepsy can affect anyone. Over a lifetime, one in 10 people will have a seizure, and one in 26 will be diagnosed with epilepsy. Despite its prevalence, epilepsy receives 10 times less funding than other brain disorders.

The Walk to END EPILEPSY Ohio-Dayton in-person event is taking place in accordance with CDC, state and local health guidelines. For those who are not able to walk in person, they can register as a Walk Your Way participant and decide how to complete the Walk. All participants will log their miles by hitting the streets, trails, and treadmills on their own or with their team to help reach the 2.6-Million-Mile-Challenge goal. It doesn’t matter whether they stroll, saunter, or power-walk, they can complete their walk whenever, wherever while others in their community do the same.

No matter how people choose to participate, everyone’s support will be recognized and celebrated. The Epilepsy Foundation is hosting a virtual livestream celebration on June 4 for all Walk participants.
