‘Celebrate America’ With Amarillo Symphony & HODGETOWN October 1

Amarillo, Texas –HODGETOWN Events and the Amarillo Symphony are excited for “Celebrate America”, the third outdoor Amarillo Symphony concert to be performed at the home of the Sod Poodles. The concert which is rapidly approaching is scheduled for Saturday, October 1 with gates opening at 6 p.m. and the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are on sale now with plenty of fun and exciting hospitality and ticket options for guests. An evening of patriotic fan favorites and other exciting American musical treasures will begin with a very special flyover by the West Texas Warbird Flight and conclude with a spectacular fireworks show.

“Celebrating our 99th season, the Amarillo Symphony is thrilled to present our Celebrate America concert at HODGETOWN,” said Larry Lang, Executive Director of the Amarillo Symphony. “Join us for a flag-waving program of great American music for the whole family, with special guests from the Amarillo Little Theater, a flyover by the West Texas Warbird Flight, our amazing Symphony musicians, and fantastic fireworks. Sod Poodles, Fairly Group Announce 'Home Runs For Hope'

Amarillo, TX – The Amarillo Sod Poodles, Fairly Group, and Hope Choice are proud to partner for the 2022 season, providing Home Runs For Hope. For every Sod Poodles home run hit throughout the 2022 season, Fairly Group will donate $1,000 to Hope Choice.

Hope Choice is a ministry-based organization that offers services for individuals and families who are facing everyday struggles and cultural pressures. Hope Choice opened its doors in 1998 as a crisis pregnancy center and has since expanded its services to include mentoring programs as well as character-building programs in more than 90+ schools. Hope Choice and its school-based programs reach 24,000 students each month. Their mentoring groups are designed to teach character values and help build self-esteem in young people who face a variety of challenges in their daily lives.

Amarillo Sod Poodles Community Driven Programs For 2022 Season

AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Sod Poodles are excited to announce details of its 2022 programs aimed towards shining a light on local non-profits and small businesses for the 2022 season. The club will return the Small Business Spotlight sponsored by Carpet Tech, the Charity Spotlight sponsored by Brick & Elm, and Launch-A-Ball sponsored by KTBlack Services.

All three programs are designed specifically to help hard-working, local small businesses and non-profit organizations raise awareness and funds to continue to provide their goods and services to the Texas Panhandle and surrounding areas.

Each organization that signs up for our Small Business and Charity Spotlight will be provided the following elements during any of the 69 Sod Poodles regular-season home games at no cost. Groups or individuals will receive a marketing table on the main concourse to showcase their organization, in-park recognition via a live public address announcement, and scoreboard recognition. They can also have someone from their organization do a live on-air interview during the Sod Poodles Radio Broadcast to further promote their organization or small business. In addition, these programs come with a ceremonial first pitch and four tickets to the game for which the group or business owners will be recognized.

The Sod Poodles are also excited for the return of Launch-A-Ball presented by KTBlack Services. This program along with our Concessions Fundraising Program are exclusively for area non-profit groups (schools, churches, etc) looking for a fun way to raise money during a Sod Poodles 2022 home game. Each game, one organization receives numbered tennis balls to sell (3 for $5) from a table on the concourse, around the ballpark, and in the suite level. The non-profit group will receive 50% of gross sales for their Launch-A-Ball game.

Fans who purchase from Launch-A-Ball groups will have the opportunity to toss their numbered ball(s) towards a target in left-field after the game is over. The fan with the winning toss will receive the other 50% of the nightly jackpot or a prize from one of many other local businesses partnered with the Sod Poodles.

Along with the 50% of gross Launch-A-Ball sales for their game, each organization will also receive in-park recognition via a live public-address announcement and the opportunity to display promotional materials at their table to promote their cause and interact with local community members. To be eligible to participate in Launch-A-Ball, groups and organizations are first required to participate in a Sod Poodles ticket fundraiser which will further help benefit the organization. National Anthem Auditions Scheduled For March 26

AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Sod Poodles, Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are now accepting registration for all soloists, duets, and groups (less than four people) interested in singing the National Anthem at a Sod Poodles game this season. The team will host auditions at HODGETOWN on Saturday, March 26 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Interested performers can give their best rendition of either “The Star-Spangled Banner” or “God Bless America” in front of a panel of judges. All performances must be a cappella or with a personal instrument and will be considered for either song of their choosing. Auditions will be performed in a closed, private area during scheduled time slots. Candidates will need to fill out a registration form prior to auditioning and will be contacted to confirm time slots ahead of March 26. Participants will be required to enter HODGETOWN through the home plate gate where they will be directed to sign in and led to the audition area.

Walk-up auditions are permitted but will be heard on a first-come, first-served basis based on availability. Guests who are unable to make it to HODGETOWN for an in-person audition can submit a video submission to the Sod Poodles by emailing a video, or link to a performance to [email protected].

Select participants will be given an opportunity to perform on Opening Night (April 8) or Saturday, July 3 for the Sod Poodles Independence Day Celebration. Many other performers will be contacted by the Sod Poodles after the event to schedule a date to perform at any of the other 67 Sod Poodles’ regular-season home games for the 2022 season. All chosen singers will be given a complimentary ticket to the game(s) for which they will be performing.

Amarillo Sod Poodles 2022 Job Fairs

AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Sod Poodles will be hosting three job fairs looking to hire part-time seasonal positions and fill a variety of roles for the 2022 baseball season at HODGETOWN. The first two job fairs are scheduled for Saturday, February 26, and Saturday, March 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The third and final event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 pm with all three being held in the Fairly Group Club Level inside HODGETOWN.

All positions are game-day/event-only positions, requiring mostly night and weekend commitments from April until the baseball season concludes in September. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, but some positions will require candidates to be 18 years of age or older. HODGETOWN hiring managers are looking for hardworking candidates with great guest service skills to provide guests with an unforgettable experience at HODGETOWN this summer.

Candidates are encouraged to fill out their applications online ahead of time to help streamline the hiring process during the actual events. Applicants who cannot attend in person can still apply through the team’s website at www.SodPoodles.com.

All candidates attending the job fairs will enter through the home plate rotunda entrance located at 8th and Buchanan and follow signage upstairs to the registration table in the Fairly Group Club Level.

Concessions Fundraising Program Returns For 2022 Season

AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Sod Poodles, in conjunction with Diamond Creations, the team’s food and beverage provider, are excited for the return of their Concessions Fundraising Program to the community for the 2022 season. The initiative offers a unique fundraising opportunity for non-profit groups through concession stand sales at HODGETOWN.

Non-profit or 501(c)(3) groups, sporting clubs, cheer groups, girl and boy scout troops, church and school organizations, and more are encouraged to join and easily meet fundraising goals through concession sales during the 2022 Sod Poodles baseball season.

To fundraise, groups simply provide individuals to work in a concession stand, and, in turn, earn money for their organization. Groups are not limited on how many games they work throughout the 69 home-game season. All dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Amarillo Sod Poodles have opened their internship opportunities for the 2022 season.

Sod Poodles internships are for highly motivated individuals who have an interest in the business of sport management. The internships are designed to give individuals their first experience within the sports industry in areas including game-day operations, marketing, public relations, ticket/group sales, promotions, production, and customer service.
All internship positions are hourly, season-long roles and range between 30-40 hours per week.

2022 Sod Poodles Internship Opportunities:

Position: Ticketing & Membership Fulfillment Internship

This internship is designed for you to learn all aspects of a ticket sales department. Not only will you be selling group/ticket packages, working ticket windows, helping to run the box office, you will also be a liaison to season ticket members, as well as an integral part of our gameday/event staff for all events at HODGETOWN during the 2022 season.

Position: Merchandise & Team Store Internship

The candidate will learn all aspects of team merchandising from one of the most creative and aggressive brands in MiLB. The candidate will assist merchandise staff in the team’s daily operations, with an emphasis on branded team apparel. Those interested in a career in professional or collegiate athletics will gain experience and develop skills critical to beginning a career in sports merchandising.

Position: Baseball Communications Internship

This Internship is designed to teach the operation of a Minor League Baseball Communications department through an immediate hands-on approach. This intern works closely with the Manager of Public Relations and Baseball Operations in all areas and upon completion of the program will possess the skills to successfully organize and operate in a Minor League Baseball Team’s Communications department.

Position: Video Production Internship

The candidate will learn all aspects of sports video production from one of the most creative and aggressive brands in Minor League Baseball. The candidate will assist the video and marketing teams in daily operations, with an emphasis on ballpark production and content creation. Those interested in a career in professional or collegiate athletics will gain experience and develop skills critical to beginning a career in sports video production. Applicants must have experience in video production and work closely with others in the video and marketing departments daily for the duration of the internship.

Position: Stadium Operations Internship

The candidate will learn all aspects of stadium maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep, working with subcontractors, the City of Amarillo, and vendors. Additionally, it will include planning, set-up, and breakdown of all stadium events during the season and daily management and scheduling of game day staff members (Ticket Takers, Ushers, Kids Zone, Cleaning Crew, Security Staff, Parking, and emergency service vendors).

The candidate will learn all aspects of and provide support in all marketing and promotions-related areas of the business including, but not limited to, assisting with sponsor fulfillment and game duties, and community relations efforts.

Position: Corporate Partnerships Internship

The candidate will provide administrative services to the Corporate Sales department with a focus on servicing all aspects of client contracts and service fulfillment.

Position: Accounting Internship

The candidate will provide assistance with the following, but not limited to, answering general office telephones, providing customer service and office support, receipt and posting of payments; making bank deposits, matching invoices to POS, invoice entry, vendor file maintenance, cash handling, and ensuring that all accounting and operational accounting functions are being performed in the most effective and efficient fashion while conforming to the Standard Operating Procedures of the Company.

Position: Food & Beverage Internship

The candidate will work with the entire food and beverage department and will help on training program for all concessions and hospitality, staff, including but not limited to, production, inventories, cleanliness, alcohol awareness and POS training. Additionally, the candidate will help with food and beverage operations during games by establishing operating procedures for staff to maintain positive relationships.

Sod Poodles, City Federal Credit Union Provided Area Baseball League Uniforms For 2021 Season

The Sod Poodles in conjunction with City Federal Credit Union proudly sponsored the Texas Panhandle Youth Baseball Foundation again this 2021 Spring season by providing team uniforms and hats.

As part of this collaborative effort, each child received a free uniform and hat of different colors bearing the “Sod Poodles” name this 2021 Spring season.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to be able to continue to contribute to such a great, local youth sports organization,” said Sod Poodles President and General Manager Tony Ensor. “This league provides a wholesome, healthy activity for children, of all skill levels, using baseball as a classroom to instill discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. We are excited to continue partnership with City Federal Credit Union to assist our community through sports and are happy to see that a successful 2021 season has been underway!”

The Texas Panhandle Youth Baseball Foundation is a draft league program of up to 600 participants per season between the ages of 3 and 13. The Texas Panhandle Youth Baseball Foundation ensures that every child who is registered will be drafted and will play baseball regardless of skill level. The league promotes qualities of good sportsmanship, honesty, courage, and respect.

The Amarillo Sod Poodles released today the details of its 2021 “Launch-A-Ball” program presented by KTBlack Services to benefit local non-profit organizations by providing 50% of the nightly jackpot to the organization with the other half going to the winner.

“KTBlack is proud to sponsor Launch-A-Ball again this year at HODGETOWN,” said Allie Morales, KTBlack Marketing Project Manager”. “It’s a fun way for our fans to get involved in supporting local non-profits.”

Launch-A-Ball is a great way for area non-profit groups (schools, churches, etc.) to raise money during a Sod Poodles home game. Each game, one organization receives numbered tennis balls to sell (3 balls for $5) from a table on the concourse. Groups can also walk around the ballpark and sell them in the stands and at the Suite Level. The non-profit group receives 50% of gross sales for their night.

Sod Poodles Announce 2021 Carpet Tech “Small Business Spotlight” Program

The Amarillo Sod Poodles are proud to announce that they have partnered with Carpet Tech to showcase local Amarillo and Texas Panhandle small businesses throughout the 2021 season at HODGETOWN.

The Carpet Tech “Small Business Spotlight” program will provide local organizations with an opportunity to market themselves at HODGETOWN during the 2021 season and FREE of charge.

Sod Poodles To Host 2021 National Anthem Auditions at HODGETOWN

The Amarillo Sod Poodles will be hosting public auditions for National Anthem performances for the team’s 2021 season on Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at HODGETOWN. Soloists, duets, and trios are invited to audition “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America” for a chance to perform during the 2021 season.

Two winning participants will be determined by a panel of guest judges and will be given an opportunity to perform on either Opening Night or Independence Day (July 4). Many other individuals will be given opportunities to perform on additional game dates during the season. All participants will be contacted following the event.

Face coverings will be required for individuals two years or older at all times during the event. Face coverings may be removed temporarily when an individual has entered the audition room before singing/performing.

All vocal performances must be a cappella or accompanied by a personal instrument and only traditional renditions of songs will be considered for selection. Each performer may audition for either “The Star-Spangled Banner” or “God Bless America” and will be considered for either song. Auditions will be performed in front of judges in a private, closed-off area during scheduled time slots.

Walk-up auditions on Saturday, April 10 are welcome but are not guaranteed and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, as time permits. To ensure a performance slot, contacting ahead of time is recommended since time slots are also limited.

All National Anthem participants can enter through the Sod Poodles Team Shop at 715 South Buchanan next to the HODGETOWN box office. Sod Poodles team members will direct all individuals to the check-in and audition area. Entrance to the audition area will begin at 9:45 a.m.

The Sod Poodles host their 2021 home opener at HODGETOWN on Tuesday, May 18 against the Midland RockHounds.

Sod Poodles Open 2021 Concessions Fundraising Program

The Amarillo Sod Poodles, in conjunction with Diamond Creations, the team’s food and beverage provider, have opened their Concessions Fundraising Program to the community for the 2021 season. The initiative offers a unique fundraising opportunity for non-profit groups through concession stand sales at HODGETOWN.

Non-profit or 501(c)(3) groups, sporting clubs, cheer groups, girl and boy scout troops, church and school organizations, and more are welcome to join and meet fundraising goals in an easy way through concession sales during the 2021 Sod Poodles baseball season.

To fundraise, groups simply provide individuals to work in a concession stand, and, in turn, earn money for their organization. Groups are not limited on how many games they work throughout the 60 home-game season. All dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sod Poodles Announce 2021 Job Fairs

The Sod Poodles will be holding a pair of job fairs for part-time seasonal positions in a variety of areas throughout the 2021 baseball season. The job fairs are scheduled for Saturday, March 6 and Saturday, March 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will be held at HODGETOWN in the Fairly Group Club level. The event will be organized to ensure guests have the space they need to remain socially distant and face coverings are required at all times.

All positions are game-day/event-only positions, requiring night and weekend commitments throughout the 2021 baseball season (May through September). Applicants must be at least 16 years of age but some positions will require candidates to be 18 years of age or older. HODGETOWN hiring managers are looking for hardworking candidates with great guest service skills.

Candidates are urged to dress to impress. Applicants who cannot attend can also apply at the team’s website at www.SodPoodles.com.

All candidates attending the job fairs must enter through the front rotunda entrance at 8th and Buchanan and follow signage upstairs to the registration table in the club level.

The job fair will be for candidates interested in applying and interviewing for positions in the following areas:

  • Concessions: Concession Stand Staff, Food Prep/Stocking, In-Stand Food/Beverage Sales Vendors
  • Catering: Hospitality Servers
  • Grounds Crew: On-Field maintenance workers
  • Stadium Staff: Ushers, Kids Zone Attendants, Morning Cleaning Crew, Crowd Control, Parking Attendants
  • Retail: Sales Associates
  • Box Office Representatives: Window Attendants
  • Promotions/Street Team: Sod Squad/Promotions Team Members
  • Production: Scoreboard/Videoboard Operators, Camera/Replay Operators/Directors, Audio Engineers
  • Batboys: Includes pre and post-game equipment work and in-game dugout duties

Soddies Saturday Spooktacular To Bring Halloween To Downtown Amarillo

A Soddies’ “Saturday Spooktacular” outdoor family movie night presented by Sonic is scheduled for Saturday, October 17 at HODGETOWN and is set to bring a socially-distanced and safe Halloween to downtown Amarillo. The event will feature the showing of Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” along with pre-movie, socially-distanced trick-or-treating around the concourse, adult, child and family costume contests, and more. Tickets for the event are limited and are on-sale now online at www.SodPoodles.com or HERE, over the phone, or in-person at the HODGETOWN box office.

Social distancing protocols will be in effect and enforced by HODGETOWN staff during the event and masks are required upon entry, exit and while moving about the stadium but can be removed while seated. Entrance to the event will be located at the left-field (north) gates, which open at 5 p.m., and the movie is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Additionally, only clear, plastic totes/bags and empty candy buckets/bags are allowed through the gates.

From five to 6:30 p.m., event attendees and families may participate in outdoor, socially-distanced trick-or-treating around the stadium concourse. Sponsors and partners from around the community will be safely distanced at individual tables for spaced groups to visit and grab pre-packaged goodie/candy bags. Additionally, there will be a costume contest held for best individual adult/child costume and best group/family costume. All costumes worn at the event must be family-friendly.

A variety of movie seating will be available for purchase, including on-field, reserved square spaces, hospitality suites, and individual bowl seats.

On-field, marked square spaces are available to reserve in four or eight-person capacity (limited quantity). Four-person squares (10’x10’) are $32 and eight-person (10’x20’) squares are $64. Blankets and pillows are acceptable to bring on to the field, but folding chairs are prohibited. Sod Poodles Blankets (54″x84″) can also be added to a reservation for $36 – various colors available and limited quantity available.

Private luxury suites, coterie (concourse) suites and dugout (field-level) suites for 10 people are also available for purchase as group hospitality options.

Group hospitality options offered for 10 people are a Tailgate Meal suite, which includes hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cookies, and canned sodas, for $320, or a Movie-Night Snack suite, which includes a choice of 10 candy-item mix and match – Cotton Candy, M&M’s Peanuts, M&M’s, Sour Patch Kids, and Skittles, 10 Drinks – Sierra Mist, Mt Dew, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Water, Bottomless Popcorn, and Bottomless Peanuts for $200.

Individual bowl seats are $8 per seat. A Family Movie Meal Pack is available for purchase which includes two candy choices, two buckets of popcorn, and four drinks for $25. Standard concessions will also be open for individual-item ordering.

The Sod Poodles team store will be open from 5 p.m. (gates open) until all guests have left the park.

Amarillo Symphony To Perform Outdoor Concert at HODGETOWN

The Amarillo Symphony and Amarillo Sod Poodles are excited to bring great music to the community in a fun and safe way with “Hollywood at HODGETOWN” on Saturday, September 19. The open-air, socially-distanced concert at HODGETOWN, home of the Sod Poodles, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.

The Amarillo Symphony, conducted by Jacomo Bairos, will perform a variety of patriotic and cinematic works, including “Stars and Stripes Forever_” and themes from _Harry Potter_, _The Magnificent Seven_, and _Star Wars_, among others. The concert will end with a fireworks finale set to Tchaikovsky’s _1812 Overture.

“Performing on the field at HODGETOWN will bring a new experience to audience and musicians alike,” said Andrew Hay, Executive Director of The Amarillo Symphony. “I’m excited to see Maestro Bairos and the orchestra play in the ballpark, and we are honored to be able to offer this experience to the community at this time.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the Amarillo Symphony on this one-of-a-kind event,” said Tony Ensor, Sod Poodles President and General Manager. “We look forward to bringing this unique Hollywood concert to life in our ballpark setting for the entire community to enjoy and create memories this summer together in a safe and healthy outdoor environment.”

Advanced ticket pricing ranges from $10 to $18 depending on seat location. Guests can purchase tickets starting Thursday, September 3. Online tickets will be available at www.SodPoodles.com starting at 9 a.m. Guests can purchase by phone at 806-803-9547 or in-person at the HODGETOWN box office starting at 10 a.m. Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Day of the event purchasing will be available, but a $2 increase will be in effect and ticket availability is not guaranteed.
