P-Nats to Host Autism Awareness Day on Sunday, June 11th with On-Field Jersey Auction and 1989 Prince William Cannons Replica Jersey Giveaway on Early Father’s Day at The Pfitz

June 8, 2017

Woodbridge, VA—The Potomac Nationals will celebrate Father’s Day a week early in a big way on Kids Day Sunday, June 11th during their 1:05pm Autism Awareness game against the Down East Wood Ducks (Texas Rangers) at Pfitzner Stadium.

With gates to The Pfitz set to open at 12:00pm, the first 1,000 fans (500 adults and 500 children) in attendance and into the Home of the Potomac Nationals will receive a replica jersey of the 1989 Prince William Cannons Carolina League Championship courtesy of the Potomac Nationals in either a youth size or an adult size.

The Prince William Cannons won the second league title in Potomac Baseball history.

The Potomac Nationals are proud to honor this epic past franchise achievement with another premium giveaway for the ages as the P-Nats continue to celebrate 40 seasons of Potomac Baseball with The Red, White, & Blue faithful.

Early Father’s Day with the P-Nats at The Pfitz is presented by: Virginia Department of Social Services-Putative Father Registry.

All Dads and their children are invited to The Pfitz to create lasting memories on Early Father’s Day.

In fact, kids will be able to play catch with their father on the field after the game as part of the festivities of the day.

Meanwhile, one-of-a-kind Autism Awareness multi-colored puzzle piece jerseys will be worn on the field by P-Nats players and coaches courtesy of Cardinal Management Group and then the uniform tops will be autographed after the game by the player or coach who donned the jersey.

The unique Autism Awareness jerseys will be auctioned off to the highest bidders during the Sunday standoff sponsored by Cardinal Management Group. All the proceeds from the Autism Awareness jersey auction will go to benefit Autism Speaks.

Fans with the winning bids will be able to come onto the diamond after the game and take a picture with the player or coach who wore the jersey during the game.

According to Autism Speaks, the puzzle piece pattern which will be featured on the P-Nats’ Autism Awareness jerseys reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum. The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of the people and families living with the condition. The brightness of the ribbon signals hope – hope that through increased awareness of autism, and through early intervention and access to appropriate services/supports, people with autism will lead full lives able to interact with the world on their own terms.

It’s also another Kids Eat Free Sunday at The Pfitz sponsored by: Little Caesars. The first 250 kids aged 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free Little Caesars cheese pizza at local participating Little Caesars locations in addition to a free hot dog at the Main Concessions Stand in the Extreme Custom Collision Café Area at Pfitzner Stadium.

Face painting will take place on the Pfitzner Stadium concourse and there will be a loaded Kids Zone with the Mind Winder amusement ride from Fun Services of Virginia.

VA529 College Savings Plan will present an in-game Kid Public Address Announcer during the 4th inning.

After the game, it’s Tennis Ball Toss sponsored by: Dick’s Sporting Goods and Onelife Fitness followed by Kids Run the Bases presented by: Glory Days Grill while Washington Nationals number one overall prospect, outfielder, Victor Robles will sign autographs for kids only (aged 12 and under) in the Extreme Custom Collision Café Area.

Later in the 2017 season on Friday, July 21st, P-Nats fans will be able to bid on the complement to their 1989 Prince William Cannons replica jerseys…the on-field, game-used, autographed ’89 Prince William Cannons jerseys up for auction.

YMCA to share proceeds from Energize Night

June 2, 2017

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 2, 2017) – The Winston-Salem Dash and Energize Ministries are proud to announce that proceeds from their “Energize the Ballpark” concert with Sidewalk Prophets at BB&T Ballpark on Saturday, June 3, presented by Eanes Heating and Air Conditioning, will benefit the YMCA Camp Hanes to provide recovery from the tornado that came through the Triad area last week.

YMCA Camp Hanes in Stokes County sustained significant damage on Wednesday, May 24, when a tornado hit the area. Every single facility and program area was impacted, with varying amounts of damage.

However, since the storm came through, the summer camp has been hard at work trying to ensure it stays on schedule to open on June 11. Tree removal companies have been clearing trees, and insurance adjusters are on site, according to the Camp Hanes website. Also, water removal has occurred in multiple buildings.

“These community concerts are an annual part of our ministry, and even though we don’t plan it like this, the last couple of years, we have seen some unique needs pop up right before these events,” said Andy Bowersox, the Executive Director of Energize Ministries. “It has been our privilege to help connect and share the generosity of our audience with some of our community ministry partners. We love the influence of Camp Hanes and look forward to helping them rebuild after this storm.”

The first community clean up day is on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as interested individuals can assist with the restoring of Camp Hanes. The next will be on Tuesday, June 6, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food and water will be provided for all the helpers, and children under twelve must be supervised by an adult.

Sidewalk Prophets, formed by lead singer Dave Frey and rhythm guitarist Ben McDonald, will be making their first-ever appearance at BB&T Ballpark. The group took home the GMA Dove Award for Best New Artist in 2010 and has had multiple songs crack the Top 20 Billboard Christian Singles chart.

Tickets to enjoy the concert are available in advance for $10 per person and can be purchased by contacting the Dash at (336) 714-6873 or brittany.daley@wsdash.com. Tickets will be good for both the game and the concert.

“My family and my business partners’ families have served over 100 years of service to our country and now it’s time to do more. We look at craft beer as a way to raise a glass in their honor while celebrating their commitment, loyalty and courage for serving country. It’s our way of saying Thank You and Never Forgetting.”

The Heroes Alliance was founded in Tampa in 2005 and has expanded throughout the United States. Whatever it may be, the Heroes Alliance is here to help with a unique role among charity groups in bringing a “real-life” superhero experience to children and families. Visit them online at www.heroesalliance.org.

About The American Veterans Ball
The Salute to The American Veterans Ball was created to provide “all” Veterans of “all” the Armed forces an opportunity to participate in an annual service ball similar to our active components. The most common denominator that we’d discovered was that once veterans transitioned out of their respective service components, there were often times an immediate disconnection came about with such a traditional and customary event of shared comradeship. Despite this disconnection, they still live out the values and way of life instilled in them as patriotic veterans. An evening to reignite, connect with, and to celebrate our patriotism with our fellow brothers and sisters through thus unique event helps for years to come. Please join us in celebration in Saluting our past, present, and future Veterans. Learn more online at www.americanveteransball.org.

Potomac Nationals Announce 10th Annual Prince William County Middle School Day

April 18, 2017

Woodbridge, VA— The Potomac Nationals, in cooperation with Prince William County Schools and the Education Foundation for Prince William County Schools, S.P.A.R.K, are excited to host the 10th annual Prince William County Middle School Day at Pfitzner Stadium on Wednesday morning. A special 10:35am first pitch is scheduled to accommodate every Prince William County Middle School who wants to attend. At the game, students and teachers get a chance to enjoy some day baseball, while learning about a career in sports.

Middle School Day has been a tradition in Prince William County and at Pfitzner Stadium for over a decade, and the Potomac Nationals are dedicated to supporting PWCS for many years to come. Over 25,000 students have participated in this event since its inception and the P-Nats strive to make an impact on our young citizens by offering them an annual field trip to The Pfitz with an educational component. Over 2,500 students are expected to be in attendance on Wednesday morning. Students receive a complimentary ticket to the game and complimentary lunch.

Our main focus here at the Pfitz is fun, and throughout the game, every student gets a chance to learn directly from P-Nats staff about their various jobs and opportunities in baseball. Video interviews of Potomac Nationals front office members are regularly played between innings, explaining the puzzle pieces that make up a sports franchise. The P-Nats support students progressing through to the end goal of any career, both in and out of sports, and every member of the organization is available to all of our local students for advice and guidance through middle school and beyond. We hire PWC students as early as age 14 to work a variety of jobs during game days. The majority of our game day operations would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our high school students. The Potomac Nationals will always support PWCS and our students as we work in conjunction with the PWCS to create the greatest possible future for all of our children in PW County. We hope to continue to impact our students’ lives at our new ballpark, planned for Potomac Town Center in Woodbridge.

This event is also one of many opportunities for the P-Nats to support our military. Members of the United States Air Force COMM Squadron East- North Capital Region will volunteer, preparing lunches and operating our concession stand before and during the game. After the game, the P-Nats will make a donation to the group as a thank you for their help at the stadium and for their service in the United States Air Force.

About Heroes Alliance
The Heroes Alliance was founded in Tampa in 2005, and has expanded throughout the United States. Our non-profit team of costumed volunteers are ready to make appearances at community and children-oriented charity events-from helping local law enforcement with community functions to visiting sick children in the hospital to help brighten their spirits. Whatever it may be, the Heroes Alliance is here to help with a unique role among charity groups in bringing a “real life” superhero experience to children and families. Visit their website: www.heroesalliance.org

About The American Veterans Ball
The Salute to The American Veterans Ball was created to provide “all” Veterans of “all” the Armed Forces to participate in an annual service ball similar to our active components. The most common denominator that we’d discovered was that once veterans transitioned out of their respective service components there were often times an immediate disconnection with such a traditional and customary event of shared comradeship. Despite this disconnection they still live out the values and way of life instilled in them as patriotic veterans. An evening to reignite, connect with, and to celebrate our patriotism with our fellow brothers and sisters through this unique event for years to come. Please join us in celebration in Saluting our past, present, and future Veterans. Visit their website: www.americanveteransball.org
