Drive, Prisma Partner on Next COVID-19 Vaccination Event September 1

 

The Greenville Drive, in partnership with Prisma Health, are set to host the latest COVID-19 vaccination event at Fluor Field Wednesday, September 1st as part of the Drive’s game against the Asheville Tourists. This will be the 5th vaccination event hosted at Fluor Field this season as the Drive, together with their long-time partner Prisma Health, set out to educate and protect the community from the ongoing challenges brought about by COVID-19.

Prisma will be administering the now FDA approved Pfizer vaccine.

With virus variants emerging and COVID once again surging in the community, getting vaccinated is more important than ever for the health & safety of our community.

The latest vaccination event at Fluor Field will take place from 6-8pm in the Power Alley hospitality area of the ballpark, directly inside the Main Street entrance to the stadium. No appointments are needed; vaccinations will be offered on a walk-up basis and administered by officials with Prisma Health. The Pfizer vaccine, which is now fully approved by the FDA, will be administered free of charge; those 12 years of age or older, needing their first or second dose, will be eligible. For those needing their second dose, it must be a minimum of three weeks since their first dose, but no later than six weeks.

To help encourage participation, all of those that get vaccinated at Fluor Field will receive:

Drive to Host Mobility Night August 26

 

The Greenville Drive are excited to host the first-ever Upstate Mobility Night August 26 at Fluor Field. Gates open at 6 PM while first pitch is at 7:05 against the Hickory Crawdads.

Teaming up with the Drive for the event is the Upstate Mobility Alliance. They will have booths on display throughout the concourse to show the future of electric vehicles, bikes, buses and charging stations.

There will also be t-shirt and water bottle giveaways throughout the evening.

Penultimate Homestand Includes Military Appreciation and Opera Night

 

The Charleston RiverDogs continue to own the best record in the Low-A East and return to The Joe for their penultimate homestand of 2021 to battle the Columbia Fireflies next week. The series, which runs from August 17-22, will consist of seven games in six days. The RiverDogs will take a big step toward clinching a berth in the postseason with a successful series on the field.

The homestand includes plenty of reasons for fans to be excited. On Wednesday, the RiverDogs meet the Fireflies in a doubleheader on Pride Night where the team will wear Charleston Rainbows uniforms in the nightcap. Friday features our third Military Appreciation Night of the season, as well as Opera Night. The team will close out the homestand by taking on their Perros Santos identity for the final two games of the series on Saturday and Sunday. Here is the full lineup:

Tuesday, August 17, 7:05 p.m.: Dog Day: There are only two more chances to enjoy a ballgame with man’s best friend this season. Friday, August 20, 7:05 p.m.: Military Appreciation Night/Opera Night/Red Shirt Friday/Post-Game Fireworks: On this night, we will celebrate the classical music tradition of opera with themed games, trivia and a t-shirt toss alongside the Holy City Arts and Lyric Opera. The RiverDogs will also open the weekend with a gigantic tribute to military members on Boeing Red Shirt Friday. Members of the military will receive free tickets to the game. The blood drive lasts from 11 AM – 4 PM.

Deaf Awareness Night Returns to Pelicans Ballpark

 

 

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are proud to announce the return of Deaf Awareness Night to Pelicans Ballpark on Saturday, August 14. The night, which is presented by Young Talkers, marks the 3rd annual event for the team.

To increase awareness and raise funds for the deaf community, the Pelicans will wear specially-designed jerseys, courtesy of Young Talkers, that replace the traditional Pelicans script with American Sign Language. The club will auction off the commemorative jerseys with proceeds benefiting Pelicans for the Deaf.

In an effort to create an inclusive experience for members of the deaf community, sign language interpreters will be infused into the Pelicans’ game day experience. The night will also include a silent inning, and the Seventh Inning Stretch will be sung by Nicole Herrera – Miss Summerville Teen, and Jason Hurdich, an RID certified deaf interpreter, will accompany the evening’s national anthem singer.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. for the 6:05 p.m. game against the Charleston RiverDogs. Submit Your Favorite Teacher for a Neon Apple Award

 

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Fireflies are partnering with T-Mobile to present the first ever Neon Apple Awards. Three Midlands teachers, one elementary, one middle and one high school teacher, will be selected to win the honor on Teacher Appreciation Night presented by T-Mobile at Segra Park August 12. The Fireflies are asking fans to nominate their favorite teachers in the Midlands for the award.

Winning teachers will be recognized during the game and will receive two complimentary tickets to the August 12 game at Segra Park plus a monetary donation from T-Mobile to go towards classroom supplies needed for the upcoming school year.

“Teachers are a critical piece of the very fabric of our community and we are proud to partner with T-Mobile on presenting the first ever Neon Apple Awards,” said Fireflies Director of Marketing Ashlie DeCarlo. “This is a great opportunity to honor our classroom heroes at Segra Park and we are looking forward to.”

Drive Announce Mayor Knox White As Organization’s 15th Annual Green Day Honoree

 

Greenville, S.C. – The Greenville Drive, Advanced-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, announced today that Mayor Knox White has been selected as the honoree for the team’s annual Green Day celebration, presented by TD Bank, this year to be held on Wednesday August 4th at Fluor Field when the Drive host the Rome Braves.

Each year, the Drive pay tribute to an individual who has helped make Greenville one of the most electric and dynamic cities in the country. Over the course of his more than 25 years as mayor, no one has had a more profound and transformational impact on our city than Mayor White. From the creation of Falls Park and the Liberty Bridge, the development along the Reedy River, Unity Park, the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and our very own Fluor Field, everyone across our City has benefitted from Mayor White’s vision and leadership. RiverDogs to Host Free Clinic Sunday

 

As part of Minor League Baseball’s recently announced MiLB Major Fun Weekend, the Charleston RiverDogs have announced that they will be hosting a free clinic for children ages 7-12 on Sunday, July 18. The clinic will take place on the field at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the RiverDogs 5:05 p.m. game against the Augusta GreenJackets.

“We were thrilled when Minor League Baseball announced this initiative to celebrate the game of baseball around the country this weekend,” said RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols. “We hope that this clinic will give children in the Holy City a chance to learn about baseball and experience how much fun it is to be around the game.”

The clinic is one part of the team’s effort to celebrate baseball at all levels this weekend. Children will be introduced to the fundamentals of the sport by Chris Singleton, the RiverDogs Director of Community Outreach and former professional baseball player, and members of the 2021 Post and Courier All-LowCountry baseball team. The All-Lowcountry baseball and softball players and coaches will be honored during the RiverDogs game that evening.

Drive to Host Aerospace Night July 23

The Charleston RiverDogs will host games at The Joe for the first time in the month of July when the Augusta GreenJackets come to town for a six-game series July 13-18. The team will reach the halfway point of the 120-game season during the series. The RiverDogs own one of the best records in Minor League Baseball and lead the Low-A East’s South Division.

The week will begin with the second Military Appreciation Night of the season and come to a conclusion with the inaugural National Baseball Day. In between, the RiverDogs will host weekly staples such as Thirsty Thursday and Fireworks Friday, as well as celebrate iconic Japanese animation on Anime Night Saturday. Here is the full lineup:

If a ball lands on the target at home plate, the fan with the corresponding number will walk away with $1,000. If no ball lands on the target, the nearest ball will be worth $500. The Drive’s series with Aberdeen wraps up on Sunday July 11th, with first pitch at 3:05pm with our annual First Responders Day celebration. This annual event at the ballpark recognizes & celebrates the sacrifice of all our community’s First Responders and thanks them for keeping us safe & healthy – this past year more than ever. Pride Night – now two years in the making after the cancellation of the 2020 season – is a night of inclusion, celebration and reaffirmation that Segra Park is a welcoming place for all people.

“Segra Park was built by our community and for our community… our entire community,” said Fireflies team President John Katz. “Columbia has a robust, active LBGTQ+ community and the Fireflies have many fans within that community. Columbia Fireflies baseball is truly ‘Fun for ALL.’”

The Fireflies have partnered on Pride Night with five local Pride Partner organizations that do amazing work in the community. SC Pride, South Carolina Black Pride, the Harriet Hancock Center, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (Columbia Center) and PALSS – Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services.

“Events like Pride Night at Fireflies really help to bring awareness of LGBT issues to more mainstream — and often under-represented — audiences,” said SC Pride President Jeff March. “It’s important that our allies — no matter who they are — step up to help show that LGBT issues are human issues. We are your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers, and we are as much a part of every facet of society as anyone else.”

Each of the five Pride Partners will have a table on the stadium concourse to share information about their programs and goals; they will also be distributing one of five exclusive Fireflies Pride buttons to fans. Please be sure to visit all five tables to collect the entire series. All buttons are free and quantities are limited.

“Harriet Hancock Center is so proud to be a part of an event that supports the LGBTQ community,” said Harriet Hancock Center Board President Kimmah Dozier-Burt. “Pride Night with the Fireflies offers the community a much-needed opportunity to reconnect, celebrate Pride together, and to collectively root for the home team!”

The Fireflies will be auctioning off a full set of custom Fireflies Pride jerseys during the game, with 100% of the proceeds being donated evenly to each of our five Pride Partners.

The Fireflies will also be selling their Pride t-shirts and caps throughout the day and will be donating 20% of the net proceeds to our Pride Partners.

“We are excited to be a part of this beautiful historic moment,” said South Carolina Black Pride President and CEO Darius Jones. “Celebrating Pride Month with the Columbia Fireflies at Segra Park is not just beautiful but historic too. It proves that SC has come a long way, and it brings visibility to LGBTQ+ athletics.”

In addition to the fundraising opportunities above, the Kansas City Royals have also pledged to donate an additional $1,000 to each of our Pride Partners to help further their work in our community.

Billy Bean, who serves at MLB as Vice-President & Special Assistant to the Commissioner, has sent a welcome video to Fireflies fans to kick off the Pride Night festivities. As a senior advisor to Commissioner Manfred, his role focuses on player education, LGBTQ inclusion, and social justice initiatives. Bean played in the Major Leagues from 1987-1995 and, in 1999, was just the second Major Leaguer to come out publicly as gay.

“I’m incredibly proud of the Columbia Fireflies for the comprehensive effort they’re making to reach out and support their LGBTQ fans,” said Bean. “Pride Night on June 24th is going to be a great day at Segra Park. I truly appreciate the inclusive message the club is setting for all of minor league baseball.”

Military Appreciation Day July 4th at Fluor Field

 

The Greenville Drive is excited to host Military Appreciation Day Sunday, July 4th.

First pitch against Winston-Salem, affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, is set for 6:05 pm. Gates will open at 5:00 pm. The Grumpy Old Jazzmen will play in the Main Street Plaza.

All veterans and active military will receive a $5 ballpark voucher, compliments of the Drive (pick up at tables near entrance gates). Our military celebration includes a pre-game ceremony featuring color guard, gun salute and vintage WWII warbirds flyover at the end of the anthem; military vehicle display on Field Street pre-game and in-game; recognizing and honoring our veterans and active military throughout the game; and military organizations display on the concourse.

There will also be a Fourth of July pre-game cookout. The $25 package includes a ticket to the picnic, the Drive game and postgame fireworks! Use the password july4 to buy your tickets here!

Postgame there will be a hot dog eating contest. Preliminary winners from our contests during the past homestand will compete for the 2021 title! Additional day of sign ups will take place at the Drive’s Info Center, located behind home plate.

For the grand finale, the Drive will provide the only public fireworks display in Greenville, which will start after the game but no earlier than 9:45.
