Free Community Baseball Clinic and Annual Disability Dream and Do/Think Differently (D3 Day) Event Planned For Hudson Valley Renegades Involvement in MLB’s PLAY BALL Weekend

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (June 8, 2022) –The Hudson Valley Renegades have teamed up with Major League Baseball and have planned two exciting events for the upcoming weekend. The Renegades will be taking part in PLAY BALL Weekend, a baseball-wide initiative designed to give back to each local community throughout Major League and Minor League Baseball.

A free community baseball clinic will be offered at Dutchess Stadium following the 2:05 PM game on Sunday, June 12. All who sign up to attend the clinic will receive two free tickets to the game. The clinic is free and features members of the Renegades coaching staff and players from the Renegades Collegiate Baseball Team. Renegades Manager Tyson Blaser will lead the clinic which is open to the first 100 children ages 8-16, and will feature 90 minutes of baseball drills and fun. Clinic participants will also receive a free T-shirt and free subscriptions to both MLB.TV and MiLB.TV.

The Renegades annual D3/Think Differently Day will be on Saturday, June 11th at Dutchess Stadium from 10 a.m. until noon. The Disability Dream and Do (D3Day) sports camps were created by Dave Clark, the only pitcher in professional sports history to pitch on crutches, and Doug Cornfield, a former NCAA medal winning runner at Georgia, who himself had a child born with no arms. These camps allow professional players to interact with children with special needs in various drills and compete in sports with no limitations.

In 2016, Dave Stevens, who was born without legs but played college football and minor league baseball, came on board as the D3 Day camps expanded to other cities in the US. Dave, Dave and Doug now put on camps all over the country and share their amazing stories as well as inspire others to look past a disability and turn it into an ability. This event is full and no further registration slots remain.

The Renegades are handing out 200 Franklin bat and ball sets to participants of both events. More than 60 Minor League teams and all 30 Major League teams will participate in PLAY BALL Weekend. Tides Front Office to Participate in MLB's Play Ball Weekend at Tidewater Park Elementary

The Norfolk Tides today announced that the front office will be participating in Major League Baseball’s “Let’s Play Weekend” on Friday, June 10. The initiative is for Minor League Baseball teams to get together with their local schools to celebrate the game of baseball and encourage the kids to play.

While the team on the road at Nashville, the Norfolk Tides front office will visit Tidewater Park Elementary. The school is just down the road from Harbor Park and is in Booker T. Washington High School’s district.

The Tides’ front office will arrive and set up at 10 a.m. on Friday and finish around noon. The kids will be divided up into groups of 20 or so kids, and play 10 vs. 10 whiffle ball games. The students will all have an opportunity to hit and play the field, learning how to play and enjoy the game with friends.

After the students are finished playing, they will be treated with ice cream. Team mascot Triton will also be on site to play with and take pictures with the kids.

Sounds to Host Free Baseball / Softball Clinics on June 10 and 11

As part of Play Ball Weekend, the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club has announced a series of free baseball and softball clinics presented by Chick-Fil-A MetroCenter and Little Blue Menu on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at First Horizon Park.

Each clinic is age-specific and limited to the first 125 children that sign-up. Pre-registration to participate in the clinics is required; walk-ups will not be accepted on the days of the events. Click here to complete the sign-up process.

The Surge hosts PLAY BALL Initiative in conjunction with League 42

The Wichita Wind Surge announced today they will participate in MLB’s PLAY BALL initiative in conjunction with Wichita’s League 42. The PLAY BALL initiative is baseball’s collective effort to encourage young people and communities to engage in baseball or softball-related activities, including formal leagues, special events and casual forms of play.

The League 42 game, hosted by the Wind Surge, is free and open to the public and will feature in-game promotions, live music, giveaway items, and more. Meals will be provided for over 600 youth athletes in attendance. The event will take place on Saturday, June 11 at 4:00pm at McAdams Park, located at 17th and Wabash.

Blue Wahoos To Host Pitch, Hit and Run Competition On PLAY BALL Weekend

Blue Wahoos Stadium will host a Pitch, Hit and Run competition on Saturday, June 11 as the Blue Wahoos join Major and Minor League Baseball in celebrating PLAY BALL Weekend. Pensacola’s Pitch, Hit and Run competition will be held from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM and is free to participate in for children ages 14 and under.

Participating youth athletes will have the chance to participate in a 90-foot sprint, a pitching challenge, and a hitting challenge. Both baseball and softball players are eligible to compete. Winning athletes will be declared in both baseball and softball based on age groups (under 7, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14), and top competitors will have the opportunity to compete in a regional Pitch, Hit and Run competition at a later date.

Athletes should bring their glove and bat to the competition. Rubber cleats or tennis shoes are permissible on the field at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

The first 200 youth athletes to register will also receive a free bat and ball set courtesy of Franklin. In addition, all registrants will receive a free subscription to MLB.TV and MiLB.TV, allowing them to stream Major and Minor League Baseball games throughout the season.

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Louisville Bats today announced that they will host the upcoming MiLB Play Ball initiative, a youth baseball clinic, in partnership with the Louisville Slugger Hitting Science Center.

The event will take place at Louisville Slugger Field on Saturday, June 11 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Registration is free and open to kids ages 5-13 years old.

Giving HOPE: Gades participating in HOPE Week 6/7-12

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (June 1, 2022) – The Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today their participation in HOPE Week. Renegades players and staff will participate in community service events throughout the Hudson Valley from Tuesday, June 7 through Sunday, June 12.

The Renegades participation in HOPE Week is in partnership with Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), the Official Hospital Partner of the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The Yankees’ wildly popular and successful HOPE Week initiative (Helping Others Persevere & Excel) was introduced in 2009, and is rooted in the fundamental belief that acts of goodwill provide hope and encouragement to more than just the recipient of the gesture.

Tuesday, June 7th – Maria Fareri Children’s Health Services at MidHudson Regional Hospital

  • As part of the Westchester Medical Health Network, the Maria Fareri Children’s Health Services at MidHudson Regional Hospital provides emergency care for children from serious injuries to burns, scrapes, and bruises. Services include a child-friendly Pediatric Emergency Department, select Pediatric Surgical Services, dedicated Pediatric Inpatient Unit, Child Life services to support patients during care, and Caregiver services to support parents, siblings, and other family members during a patient’s care. Renegades players and staff will conduct room visits and participate in crafts projects with patients.

Thursday, June 9th – The Community at Brookmeade

  • Opened in 1977, The Community at Brookmeade offers apartment residences and a combination of lifestyle, services, and amenities designed with the need of active older adults in mind. Located in the village of Rhinebeck, New York, Brookmeade presently serves as a 120-bed facility for seniors aged 62 and above. The Community is committed to providing all residents with a lifestyle focus on quality, centered in wellness, and facilitated by competent and caring staff. Renegades players and staff will visit and engage with residents and participate in activity stations.

Friday, June 10th – Liberty Station

  • Hudson River Housing believes that those who served our country deserve the highest level of care, including quality, affordable housing. Hudson River Housing aims to meet the needs for the veteran community through specialized housing, transportation, advocacy, and care management. Operated by Hudson River Housing, Liberty Station was the first of three housing services available for veterans. Opened in 2014, Liberty Station offers a supportive living environment in the company of other veterans. Units are single room occupancy, with shared kitchen and bath facilities. Garden Street Housing and Poughkeepsie Commons also offer housing for veterans. Garden Street Housing offers low-cost housing with a preference for female veterans, with private baths and shared kitchen and common areas and Poughkeepsie Commons is a 72-unit apartment complex that offers 24 one-bedroom apartments exclusively for veterans. Veterans from Liberty Station, Garden Street Housing, and Poughkeepsie Commons will gather at Liberty Station to meet and engage with Renegades players and staff.

Saturday, June 11th – Disability, Dream & Do (D3)/ThinkDIFFERENTLY Camp

  • D3 and ThinkDIFFERENTLY collaborate to host camp in partnership with Hudson Valley Renegades. Disability, Dream & Do (D3) is a pro style practice with professional players at stadiums across the country. D3 participants have an opportunity to hit, throw, catch and run the bases with instruction from the best regardless of anyone’s limitations. Sunday, June 12th – Fishkill Food Pantry

  • The Fishkill Food Pantry was established as a mission program in 1985 to assist individuals and families in the Southern Dutchess area who are coping with financial emergencies and supply basic food needs. The people served are often referred to the Pantry by social service agencies, churches, schools, and family advocates. The Pantry is the largest food pantry in Dutchess County, serving families in Beacon, Beekman, Chelsea, Cold Spring, Fishkill, Glenham, Hopewell Junction, Hughsonville, Stormville, and Wappingers Falls. The Renegades will provide donations in the morning to the food pantry and host a food drive during Sunday’s game.

The Renegades Community Program and their participation in HOPE Week is presented by WMCHealth. The Buffalo Bisons have teamed up with Major League Baseball and the Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Program to be part of MLB’s ‘Play Ball Weekend,’ June 11-12. The 2-day celebration, which includes a free youth clinic and a Bisons game against a divisional rival, will give kids a great chance to learn, play and just have fun with the greatest game in the world!

Saturday, June 11 (10 a.m.) The Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Program will host a one-day youth clinic at the Johnny B. Wiley Sports Pavilion from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (check in at 9:30 a.m.). The clinic is available for FREE for the first 300 kids that register at Bisons.com/PlayBall and each child will receive a complimentary ticket to the Bisons game against the Worcester Red Sox on June 12. The clinic will include stationed instructions on the game’s fundaments, a free boxed lunch and then a fun pitch, hit and run competition for the children to compete in.

Sunday, June 12 (1:05 p.m.) The Bisons host the Red Sox with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch. The team is encouraging all young players to wear their Little League jerseys to the game for special recognition during the contest. After the game, all kids are allowed onto the field for Kids Run the Bases, presented by Platter’s Chocolates, as well as a special Home Run Derby Challenge, where kids will be able to take one swing from a tee to see if they can hit a home run over the Sahlen Field outfield wall.

Hops Announce Play Ball Weekend Presented by MLB

Hillsboro, OR. (May 27, 2022) – The Hillsboro Hops (@HillsboroHops) have partnered with Nike and Friends of Baseball to offer five (5) FREE youth clinics all around the Portland metro area on Saturday, June 11th in 2022. On Sunday June 12th, the Hops will have a pre-game catch on Ron Tonkin Field for families from 12:00-12:30, included with admission to that game.

“Play Ball Weekend” is presented by Major League Baseball and greatly encourages MLB and MiLB teams to support the youth in their area by simply, “Playing Ball!”.

Ports to host FREE Play Ball Weekend Event on June 11

Stockton, Calif. – The Ports, in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s PLAY BALL Weekend, will host a free clinic at Banner Island Ballpark on Saturday, June 11th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Kids who attend will be able to meet former Major League Baseball Players, participate in a Q&A session, and receive a Stickball Presentation featuring the former MLB players and current Ports players.

“We are honored to be able to host a Play Ball Weekend event at Banner Island Ballpark,” said Ports team president Pat Filippone. “We enjoy presenting the game of baseball to our area youth and are appreciative of the former MLB players and current Stockton Ports players that are assisting us with the event.”

AquaSox Free Youth Baseball Camp Set For June 11

 

The Everett AquaSox are proud to announce that they will be joining MLB and MiLB to host an event during MLB Play Ball Weekend. Even though the team will be on the road, we will be conducting a FREE three-hour camp. The first 200 campers who enroll will receive a FREE Franklin plastic bat and ball set.

Boys and girls ages 5 to 12 are invited to participate in the FREE three-hour camp at Funko Field on June 11 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The camp is designed to give boys and girls the opportunity to develop their skills, regardless of experience or ability. With the help of current and former college / high school players and coaches, the camp will focus on the fundamentals of baseball including hitting, fielding, and base running

Campers will need a glove and hat and those who have baseball bats and turf shoes are encouraged to bring them.

One Day Baseball Clinic June 12th

The Dunedin Blue Jays along with Major League Baseball’s PLAY BALL Weekend will host a free clinic at TD Ballpark on Sunday, June 12th beginning at 9:45 AM. Attendees will receive instruction designed for players between the ages of 5 and 12.

Registration is free! You must sign up online in advance of the event. by CLICKING HERE. Registration begins at 9:00 am and the clinic will run from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

The Dunedin Blue Jays take on the Lakeland Flying Tigers at 12:00 PM following the clinic. Kids who sign up for the clinic receive a free ticket to the game along with other prizes for attending. SPOKANE, Wash. – Join the Spokane Indians on Sunday, June 12th as we celebrate Play Ball Weekend at Avista Stadium! This free baseball youth clinic is presented by Leo’s Photography and will feature instruction from Athletic Edge, a local baseball, softball, and fastpitch training facility.

All participants will receive a complimentary Franklin Wiffle-Ball and Bat set following the conclusion of this clinic. Space is limited to the first 200 registrants.

PLAY BALL Weekend is a concerted effort from Major League Baseball to promote the games of baseball and softball to youth across the combined 150 Major League and Minor League markets. Youth are encouraged to learn more about the games and will be provided opportunities to gain new skills in a fun environment.

ABOUT THE SPOKANE INDIANS

The Spokane Indians are the High-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies located in Spokane, Washington, and were named 2021 MiLB Organization of the Year. Avista Stadium is home to the MultiCare Kids Bench Seat. Parking at all Spokane Indians games is FREE. The Spokane Indians office and team store hours are 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Fridays. On game days, the office and team store are open from 10:00 AM through the end of the game.

Fireflies to Host Free MLB Play Ball Clinic for Kids Age 4-18

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Fireflies today announced that they will host Major League Baseball’s Play Ball Clinic run by Fireflies players and coaches at Segra Park Saturday, June 11 from 9 am to 11 am. The clinic is free for all kids ages 4-18. All kids wishing to participate in the Play Ball Clinic must register online in advance. The Play Ball Clinic is a part of MLB’s Play Ball Weekend initiatives that the Fireflies are taking part in June 10-12.

Once at Segra Park, the children will rotate between five different skills stations, where they will receive instructions from the Fireflies staff about how to improve their game. Fans can register for the Play Ball Clinic here.

The first 200 kids to register will receive a Franklin bat and ball set and a free reserved ticket for the game vs the Augusta GreenJackets at Segra Park that night, June 11, at 6:05 pm. The game will feature a post-game firework show. All members who participated in the clinic will be invited on-field pregame as recognition for their completion of the Play Ball Clinic.
