Boys To Law Enforcement Day To Be Held at Bowling Green Ballpark

Bowling Green, Ky. – Boys to Men, Bowling Green Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Western Kentucky University Police and the Bowling Green Hot Rods are please to announce the Inaugural Boys to Law Enforcement Day at Bowling Green Ballpark. The event will be held on Saturday September 26th from 10am to 5pm.

The event is to build positive relationships with law enforcement and young males in our community through education and athletics. ” I personally know that initiatives like this build positive relationships with law enforcement and young males in our community. Education and Athletics is a great way to tie these organizations together. They require discipline, integrity, teamwork, confidence, and trust. The most important thing that we want to build is love and positive energy. We want our officers to be seen in a positive light. We want our students to know that they can become one of them and much more. This is a great community, with great children and people. We must continue to shed light on the good of our community and not the tragedies of the world. Bowling Green Hot Rods, have been supportive of our organization. Along with a number of community partners, we see a great need to mentor and provide every resource possible to ensure that these students have a positive pathway towards adulthood.” Said Boys to Mens Director, Tyreon Clark.

Boys To Law Enforcement Day will consist of an array of activities that include: Run Bases with a Cop, Catch with A Cop, Home Run Derby & ending in a Flag Football Charity Game. Each Activity will be broken down into grade levels within the program. This day will be full of fun, and it will shed light on the positive relationships that our local officers are committed to building with young men in our community. “I think this partnership will help the Bowling Green Police Department by providing positive role models to your group and bridging the gap between the police department. You never know who’s life you might change or influence. Our goal is to help you encourage these young men and get them to believe in themselves. Once you believe then you can achieve. I look forward to helping and hopefully inspiring these young men.” Said Bowling Green Police Chief Michael Delaney.

The goal of the event is to introduce officers to students, provide a safe and fun environment for students and officers to interact, and develop positive relationships with students and law enforcement. “We are very committed to building partnerships that invest within our community and the lives of those that live here. The gates to Bowling Green Ballpark will open up at 9:30 am with opening ceremonies at 10am. The days events will include ceremonial first pitch, run bases with a Cop at 10:20, catch with a Cop at 11am, Home Run Derby at noon, followed by a Flag Football Charity Game at 2pm. Paul Davis Scholarship At Clinton Community College Announced

To honor his memory, friends and family have established a scholarship at Clinton Community College to honor him and his commitment to education and the community.

Paul Davis grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Clinton Community College. An agent with the Iowa Bankers Association in Des Moines, he placed great value in education. He was a dedicated volunteer and champion for many causes in the community. His love of sports grew from being an athlete as a young kid, to coaching at all levels, especially the 20-plus seasons of coaching his children’s teams. He loved attending events with wife Kris, and supporting his family by cheering on any team they are part of.

Camanche High School Basketball Coach Josh Davis said this about his father, “Dad was a great example on how to serve others. It was great to have him involved with our basketball program in Camanche. Most of the things I do as a coach, I learned from watching him when I was a kid. This scholarship will be a great way to honor his memory.”

Paul was an official with the Iowa High School Boys and Girls Athletic Associations, as well as the NAIA and NCAA college associations. He served on a variety of foundations including Riverboat Days, Clinton Junior Baseball, local volleyball organizations, and was Past President of the Clinton LumberKings Baseball Club.

Clinton LumberKings General Manager Ted Tornow commented, “Paul valued education and learning. He was always looking for ways to improve not only himself, but others. He touched many lives in this community and this scholarship is a testament to a life well-lived. Many future students will benefit from this and I know that Paul would be very happy to know that.”

The Paul Davis Memorial Scholarship, an annual $500 scholarship through the Paul B. Sharar Foundation for Clinton Community College, will be awarded to a CCC student who makes a difference. The student must demonstrate a commitment to their education and to the community through hard work and active volunteerism. Paul Davis believed that everyone in the community could come together to make this a great place. He valued hard work, and also appreciated the lessons that extracurricular activities could provide.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne TinCaps are proud to have donated $10,000 to the Parkview Foundations, as a way of expressing support and appreciation for healthcare workers during the fight against COVID-19. The money was raised through the sales of special edition TinCaps “IN This Together” t-shirts.

Nearly 1,000 shirts were sold from late April through late June.

Fox Valley High School Senior All-Star Games at Neuroscience Group Field on August 2

GRAND CHUTE, WI – The area’s best high school seniors will take part in a series of All-Star games at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Sunday, August 2 presented by Fox Communities Credit Union. An All-Day, General Admission pass will be available for $5 and fans will be asked to socially distance within the stadium to see live baseball.

The first game is scheduled to start at 1:00pm with Team Cardinal taking on Team Black. A second game to follow at 3:30pm with Team White against Team Gray. The winning teams from the first two games will play a third game at 6:00pm. Rosters of the teams are at the end of this release.

The parking lot will open at 11:00am with free parking. Neuroscience Group Field will open at noon. There will be concessions available during the games.

GRAND CHUTE, WI – The Community Blood Center will set up their Mobile Blood Center in the parking lot at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Saturday, August 1 to take donations between 8:00am and noon.

GRAND CHUTE, WI – The final numbers are in and June was a great month for Wisconsin Udder Tuggers sales in the Snake Pit Team Store and that means it was a great month for a pair of local charities supported by Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin. Fans purchased nearly $18,500 in Udder Tuggers merchandise in June. The Timber Rattlers are donating 20% of those sales to Hunger Task Force Free & Local and Wisconsin Food & Farm Support Fund.

“We want to thank all of our fans who purchased Udder Tuggers merchandise during the month of June to help support the charities supported by Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin,” said Dayna Baitinger, Director of Community Relations for the Timber Rattlers. “The donation will help support our state’s farmers and encourage consumption of milk and other agriculture products to ensure farmers continue to have a place to sell their products, and provide Wisconsinites access to nutritious, high-quality foods.”

The amount donated is $3,686.81.

Hot Rods to Host High School Senior Showcase Presented by Reed Law Group

 

BOWLING GREEN BALLPARK (Bowling Green, KY) — The Bowling Green Hot Rods have scheduled a Senior Showcase game for Saturday July 25th at Bowling Green Ballpark. The game is presented by Reed Law Group and will feature area high school baseball players who missed out on their senior season.

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for all the area High School Seniors to have a proper send off.” Said Hot Rods General Manager and COO Eric C. Leach. “We are going to do it up right with headshots, video board, promotions, and post-game fireworks. These players deserve a chance to play one final game and have our great community support them.”

Tickets will go on sale Thursday July 16th to the general public and will cost $10 per reserved seat. With the COVID-19 restrictions, capacity will be 1,500 people. Suites will be available for $250 and include 18 tickets.

“It is a privilege for Reed Law Group to help to provide this special group of seniors with one final chance to lace up their spikes and take the field’, said Ryan Reed, owner of Reed Law Group. “We believe strongly in moving people forward during challenging times. And having another turn at bat is an invaluable part of moving forward for these students, who were deprived of the chance to close out their athletic pursuits the way they envisioned. We cannot wait for first pitch!”

The gates will open up at 5:30 for the general public and first pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm. Vette City Catering will have concessions stands open and all the traditional ballpark favorites available. The fireworks spectacular will immediately follow the game.

Fans coming to Bowling Green Ballpark can expect to follow the following guidelines: Socially distant seating (each available seat will be marked), masks to worn into the ballpark and in all common areas, a temperature screening upon entering the ballpark, and hand sanitizing stations located throughout the ballpark. The Van Meter Axles Adventure land and the Graves Gilbert Clinic Carousel will not be open for sanitary purposes. The Graves Gilbert Splash Pad will be open as the water is all freshly treated.

Parkview Foundation Accepting Donations Toward TinCaps Meal Kits for Healthcare Workers

 

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne TinCaps have announced a partnership with the Parkview Foundation that allows tax-deductible monetary donations to be used to provide TinCaps Meal Kits to Parkview Health frontline workers.

“We’ve been offering the community the chance to provide a TinCaps Meal Kit to a Parkview Health frontline worker since the program’s launch,” said TinCaps Vice President Michael Limmer. “But this announcement allows individuals and companies to make tax deductible monetary donations to the Parkview Foundation that will be used to provide Parkview Health employees and families most in need with a TinCaps Meal Kit.”

The TinCaps Meal Kit program was launched in late April as the organization faces the uncertainty of a 2020 Minor League Baseball season.

“We wanted the opportunity to connect with our fans and the community,” Limmer said. “This program allows fans to bring a taste of Parkview Field home with them at a time where we aren’t able to open our doors for fans to come in.”

The opportunity to donate a TinCaps Meal Kit to a Parkview employee has been a part of the program since its inception, but now there is the opportunity for a monetary donation to be made directly to the Parkview Foundation to provide the Meal Kits.

“We are proud to be able to broker the generosity of our community through the Foundation in getting TinCaps Meal Kits to our healthcare team members,” said Denise Andorfer, Director of Leadership Gifts for the Parkview Foundation. “We know acts of kindness during these challenging times are so appreciated in lifting the spirits of those working hard to keep our community safe. Captains announce Virtual Summer Reading Program, presented by the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library

 

(Eastlake, OH) – The Lake County Captains Summer Reading Program has been a staple of every baseball season, helping students in Northeast Ohio discover the joys of reading and providing educators with a fun platform to encourage literacy. Last year alone, 36,000 students and 2,000 teachers across 130 schools participated in the Captains Summer Reading Program. That tradition continues in 2020, as the Captains are proud to announce a unique Virtual Summer Reading Program, presented by Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library.

The Captains Virtual Summer Reading Program is a free turn-key initiative that enables students to participate from home. To join the program, students simply download the Captains Virtual Reading Program Bookmark, read 20 minutes or one (1) book every day and fill out their bookmark with the titles of the books they read. Parents and guardians can take a picture of their students’ bookmark every Sunday and email it to [email protected]. One winner will be selected every week to receive a Captains Surprise Package with cool Captains gear.

“The reading program is my favorite project every year because it really makes an impact on our community,” said Captains General Manager Jen Yorko. “During a normal year, the kids who complete the program get to parade around our field and announce their names to the crowd. It really gives them a sense of accomplishment and we see how much pride it brings to their families. We thought it was important to still give students and families a way to experience that joy and to encourage our local students to get excited about reading. Pastime Youth Baseball Tournaments Held at Four Winds Field

 

SOUTH BEND, IN – Baseball returns to Four Winds Field as youth teams throughout the Midwest compete in the Pastime Baseball Youth Travel Tournaments. Admission and parking are free to all games. While admission is free, the organization is adhering to the current guideline of 250 people maximum capacity inside sporting venues.

In accordance with the St. Joseph County Health Department and the State of Indiana, Four Winds Field has instituted the rules and guidelines below in the interest of safety for the fans and players.

  • Cubs staff members will adhere to the most recent guidelines as set forth by the St. Joseph County Department of Health.
  • Fans will be encouraged to practice social distancing when entering, leaving, and during the duration of their stay at Four Winds Field. Please be respectful of fellow guests and staff, especially individuals you may not know. No more than six people are allowed at a single table.
  • Fans are asked to keep at least six feet away from other fans you may not know. While masks are not required for those in the stands, we encourage all fans to wear them if sitting in groups.
  • There are multiple hand sanitizer stations available throughout the stadium including the entry gate and outside the restrooms.
  • Outside food and beverages are prohibited, including peanuts and sunflower seeds. The 3rd base concession stand will be open with a limited menu, while supplies last. A limited selection of beer will also be available for those 21 and older.
  • Gate A will be used entry and exit of the stadium.
  • Fans can park in any legal space around the stadium including Lots A, B, C, and D.
  • All outdoor and indoor suites are closed to all fans as are the Pepsi Stadium Club and Clubhouse level.
  • Be aware of foul balls and bats that may leave the playing surface and enter the stands. Fans are asked to return any foul ball to either dugout.
  • No seeds, no gum, no peanuts are permitted in the dugouts or on the field.
  • Personal sanitizer is strongly recommended for all patrons and participants.
  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the seating bowl or anywhere inside the stadium. Fans are asked to exit Gate A to smoke or vape.
  • The Cubs Den Team Store will be open throughout the tournament. Fans can also shop online by clicking here.
  • Help keep Four Winds Field clean throughout the tournament. Please pick up your trash and dispose of it in trash cans on the concourse.

2020 Nick Adenhart Scholarships Awarded

 

Cedar Rapids, IA – The Cedar Rapids Kernels in collaboration with the Kernels Foundation and the Adenhart Family recently awarded to two Eastern Iowa high school graduates with a $1,000 scholarship. On Sunday, June 7th, Ella Popenhagen from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School and Logan Schmitt from Independence High School were recognized during a special check presentation on Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in front of their families and members of the Kernels Foundation.

Ella Popenhagen participated in track and field, cross country and swimming. She was named Captain and to the Metro Team for both swimming and track and field for the Cougars. Popenhagen served as a member of Student Government at Kennedy High School and was a member of National Honor Society. Her other school and community activities include Best Buddies Club, Show Choir, St. Luke’s Hospital Volunteer and Special Olympics. Popenhagen plans to attend The University of Northern Iowa and pursue a degree in Movement and Exercise Science.

Logan Schmitt participated in football, basketball, track and field and baseball all four years of high school for the Mustangs. Schmitt was named Captain of the baseball team his junior and senior seasons. Schmitt was a member of National Honor Society, a school mentor and participated in numerous community activities in Independence. Schmitt plans to attend Kirkwood Community College this fall and eventually earn a degree in medicine. Congratulations to these two outstanding youths in Eastern Iowa. Four Winds Field to Host South Bend Community School Corporation Graduations July 24 & 25 

 

SOUTH BEND, IN – The South Bend Cubs and Four Winds Field are proud to partner with the South Bend Community School Corporation to host their 2020 Graduation Ceremonies. The five area high schools will hold their ceremonies over two days, July 24 and 25 with a rain date of July 26.

“The generosity of the South Bend Cubs and Four Winds Field management has been essential in allowing us to safely honor our graduates in person,” said Superintendent Dr. C. Todd Cummings. “Our community partnership with the South Bend Cubs, the guidance of Dr. Mark Fox with the St. Joseph County Health Department, and the input of our graduating seniors have all made it possible for us to grant Class of 2020 the meaningful experience they deserve.”

“We know how important these ceremonies are, not just to the graduates, but to the families as well,” said South Bend Cubs Team President Joe Hart. “We’re proud to partner with Dr. Cummings and his staff to provide a safe place for the seniors to be recognized.”

In accordance with CDC guidelines and the Saint Joseph County Health Department, all participants including graduates, Corporation staff, School Board members, and invited guests will be required to wear masks and use hand sanitizer upon entering the stadium. Masks will be provided and must be worn when entering and exiting the venue.

Tickets will be distributed by each school based on the size of each graduating class (two or four tickets maximum). A letter will be sent to all graduates and guests outlining health and social distancing guidelines.

For those unable to attend, the South Bend Cubs will stream the ceremonies live through their social media channels.

SOUTH BEND, IN – The South Bend Cubs have teamed up with Beacon Health System and Saint Joseph Health System to launch a new program that will feed front line healthcare workers and their families. Meals for Medical MVPs kicks off this week. Fans interested in thanking these essential workers and their families can purchase a $60 feast of ballpark favorites by calling (574) 235-9988 or by clicking below.

The meal includes hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips, cookies and lemonade and serves 4-5 people. As a personal way to say ‘thank you’, each donation will also include the name of the individual, family, or business providing the meal. Packages will be donated and distributed to healthcare workers at Memorial Hospital in South Bend and Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

“Great teammates support each other in both good times and hard times. Both Beacon Health System and Saint Joseph Health System will manage the distribution of food donations and the South Bend Cubs will help coordinate meal delivery. All meal donations placed after 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays will be rolled over to the following week.

About the South Bend Cubs

The South Bend Cubs are the Class A minor league affiliate of the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs. Over the past 32 seasons, the team has won four Midwest League titles, most recently in 2019, and has captured eight division titles. Loons Join MiLB’s CommUNITY First Campaign

 

MIDLAND, Mich. — The Great Lakes Loons today announced they are joining MiLB CommUNITY First, a new national initiative developed by Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) in conjunction with Feeding America®, to raise funds for local food banks and to honor individuals risking their lives on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Loons fans are encouraged to visit MiLB.com/CommUNITYFirst through May 31 to donate. Once on the site, fans can choose their donation amount and the Loons as the recipient of their donation to direct funds to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. For every $10 donated, the Loons will donate one ticket to a future home game this season or in 2021 to a local hero of the pandemic.

Since 1981, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan has grown to serve more than 331,000 people annually through a network of over 700 Hunger Relief Partners, including partner agencies, schools, and other community organizations.

School closures, rising unemployment and rising poverty due to quarantine and extended stay-at-home orders have disproportionately impacted people already at risk of hunger and could result in an estimated additional 17.1 million people experiencing food insecurity in the next six months, according to Feeding America. As the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a network of more than 200 affiliates, Feeding America has projected a $1.4 billion shortfall in the next six months alone.

In response, contributions from Loons fans and Minor League Baseball will help ensure families and individuals across the country most impacted by the pandemic are fed and cared for during these uncertain times.
