Donations Good for Naturals Game Ticket

August 26, 2013

Proceeds Benefit NWA Food Bank

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals have joined Arvest Bank’s effort to fight hunger in our area. Donate $5 or 10 nonperishable food items at a Naturals game Aug. 26-29, and you can be part of the team, too.

The Naturals ticket offer is a warm-up for Arvest Bank’s 1 Million Meals initiative, which officially begins Sept. 4, and aims to raise a million or more meals to fight hunger. All donations made at Arvest Ballpark will benefit the NWA Food Bank.

Considering $1 = 5 meals, you can make a big difference by donating $5 or 10 nonperishable food items. In return, you’ll receive a reserved ticket for that evening’s game. Come watch the Naturals play the Arkansas Travelers on Aug. 26, or the Tulsa Drillers Aug. 27-29.

Some of the most-needed food items, which can be dropped off at the Naturals team van near the ticket office, include:

• canned meat
• canned vegetables
• fruit cups
• macaroni & cheese
• boxed dinners
• cereal

In its third year, 1 Million Meals runs Sept. 4-Nov. 2 and challenges Arvest associates, customers and communities to help fight hunger in the more than 120 communities the bank serves. Last year, the initiative raised 1.38 million meals. This year’s effort benefits 53 organizations in the four states – Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma – Arvest serves.

Kids invited to signup for FREE clinic prior to June 30th game

Great Day Farms, along with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals players and coaches are teaming up for the sixth annual Youth Baseball Clinic at Arvest Ballpark, to be held from 2 until 4 P.M. on Sunday, June 30th prior to that night’s 6:00pm game against the Frisco RoughRiders.

The clinic is open to children ages 6-12 and will cover instruction of key baseball fundamentals, including hitting, fielding, pitching, and baserunning. All participants will be given a complimentary general admission ticket to that evening’s game against the RoughRiders, and the first 300 children to the clinic will also receive a free Great Day Farms t-shirt.

An autograph session with select Naturals players will follow the instruction portion of the clinic and will occur along the 1st base side of the concourse lasting approximately 15 minutes.

There is a sign-up form located on the Naturals website, nwanaturals.com, under the community menu that interested parents can print, fill out, and then fax or mail in to register their children for the clinic. The youth baseball clinic is also open to local youth coaches as they may also fill out the form and fax in their roster to register their entire teams. The deadline to register for the event is Friday, June 28th, but participants are encouraged to sign up quickly, as previous seasons events filled to capacity prior to the deadline. Sign-up begins at the ballpark at 1:30pm so we ask that you arrive early as participation is limited to the first 500 children. If you have any questions, please call us at (479) 927-4900 or visit our website for more information.

“We believe this will be a great program to honor members of the communities of our region who are doing something great,” said Naturals’ General Manager Eric Edelstein. “We’re happy to partner with Liberty Bank for this effort and look forward to hosting these extraordinary people and their guests at a game.”

If an honoree wants to attend the game accompanied by a large group, the Naturals will make group rates available for advance purchase for groups of 20 or more in addition to the four complimentary tickets.

As a community bank, we are especially proud to be able to recognize individuals in our region who have worked hard to improve the quality of life in the community and the people who live in it.”
