Annual Jacob's Village, Otters Benefit Game Scheduled for June 30

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Jacob’s Village and the Evansville Otters announced the 16th annual benefit game at Bosse Field is scheduled for June 30 at 6:35 p.m. when the Otters take on the Joliet Slammers.

On June 30, 100% of game sponsorships and a portion of gate tickets sales will benefit Jacob’s Village. The proceeds from the game will enable Jacob’s Village to provide accessible housing for people with disabilities and help Jacob’s Village residents live independently.

“We would like to thank the Evansville Otters organization for their long-standing support of Jacob’s Village and our mission for many years,” Jacob’s Village Development Director Laura Hurt said.

“It’s been a wonderful partnership with the Evansville Otters, and over our 16-year history, we have raised over $210,000 to support people with disabilities.”

The mission of Jacob’s Village is to develop a safe, walk-able neighborhood community where people with disabilities and older adults can find meaningful relationships, housing that is affordable and accessible, and activities that encourage active minds and bodies.

“This will be a fun, family-friendly game. We invite the community to come out on Thursday, June 30 to enjoy exciting Otters baseball, a big fireworks show after the game ahead of July 4, free popcorn provided by Wolk Financial, Thirsty Thursday, a big half-pot, live DJ, and more!” Hurt added.

“This partnership was created 16 years ago and has turned into a big fundraiser for Jacob’s Village,” Otters Vice President, Sales Joel Padfield said. “It brings in a lot of fans that our players love to play in front of. It will be a fun, special night at Bosse Field.”

$5 general admission tickets for this year’s game may be purchased at all G.D. Ritzy’s locations, Bosse Field and Jacob’s Village. The Bosse Field box office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Spotlight Games, Renovation of Rec Field Highlight Saints Participation In PLAY BALL Weekend June 10-12

ST. PAUL, MN (June 3, 2022) – The St. Paul Saints have always immersed themselves in the local community. They take pride in giving back to an area that has helped make them one of the most successful Minor League teams in the country. For the first time as the Minnesota Twins Triple-A affiliate, the Saints will take part in PLAY BALL Weekend, a baseball-wide initiative designed to give back to each local community, from June 10-12.

The Saints won’t wait for Friday to roll around to get started with the PLAY BALL Weekend. Beginning on Monday, June 6 the Saints will renovate North Dale Recreation Center Field. The Saints, who are no strangers to helping local Little League and Rec Centers, will utilize the help of their head groundskeeper, Marcus Campbell, to make the field more playable and pristine. With the help of The Toro Company and MTI Distributing the Saints will spend the week making field improvements that will include new sod installation, edging of the infield, adding in infield material, grading the field, and rebuilding the mound.

For nearly two decades the Saints have brought their entertainment show on the road to local Little Leagues across the state. On Saturday June 11, the Saints will host two simultaneous spotlight games at the North Dale complex. The Saints turn a Little League game into a Saints experience with ushertainers, public address announcers, Mudonna, on field promotions, laughter, and fun. Along with the spotlight games, the Saints will unveil their field renovations to the public.

The PLAY BALL Weekend closes out with a Jr. Home Run Derby at CHS Field, following their 2:07 p.m. game against the Rochester Red Wings, for both softball and baseball. 14U and 16U softball players can register here and 12U and 14U baseball can register here. The winner of each age division advances to the regional final in Kansas City on July 3.

Sea Dogs Partner with Nautilus Solar Energy to Shine the Light on Local Non-Profits

Portland, Maine– The Sea Dogs and Nautilus Solar Energy have teamed up to shine the light on local non-profit organizations at Sea Dogs home games this season. The Nautilus Solar Community Spotlight will provide 25 general admission tickets for a non-profit organization to each one of our 69 home games. Each non-profit organization will also be provided with a table in the concourse to promote its mission and upcoming events.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Sea Dogs as we put community front and center,” said Eric LaMora, Director of Community Solar for Nautilus. “Their community-minded mission aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a clean, sustainable future by providing thousands of residents an equitable and affordable renewable energy choice.”

Giving HOPE: Gades participating in HOPE Week 6/7-12

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (June 1, 2022) – The Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today their participation in HOPE Week. Renegades players and staff will participate in community service events throughout the Hudson Valley from Tuesday, June 7 through Sunday, June 12.

The Renegades participation in HOPE Week is in partnership with Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), the Official Hospital Partner of the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The Yankees’ wildly popular and successful HOPE Week initiative (Helping Others Persevere & Excel) was introduced in 2009, and is rooted in the fundamental belief that acts of goodwill provide hope and encouragement to more than just the recipient of the gesture.

“Being able to participate in HOPE Week is one of the most special parts of being affiliated with the New York Yankees,” said Steve Gliner, President and General Manager of the Renegades. “Being able to touch people’s lives and make a difference through our and the Yankees’ commitment to community engagement is what we are all about as an organization.”

Tuesday, June 7th – Maria Fareri Children’s Health Services at MidHudson Regional Hospital

  • As part of the Westchester Medical Health Network, the Maria Fareri Children’s Health Services at MidHudson Regional Hospital provides emergency care for children from serious injuries to burns, scrapes, and bruises. Services include a child-friendly Pediatric Emergency Department, select Pediatric Surgical Services, dedicated Pediatric Inpatient Unit, Child Life services to support patients during care, and Caregiver services to support parents, siblings, and other family members during a patient’s care. Renegades players and staff will conduct room visits and participate in crafts projects with patients.

Thursday, June 9th – The Community at Brookmeade

  • Opened in 1977, The Community at Brookmeade offers apartment residences and a combination of lifestyle, services, and amenities designed with the need of active older adults in mind. Located in the village of Rhinebeck, New York, Brookmeade presently serves as a 120-bed facility for seniors aged 62 and above. The Community is committed to providing all residents with a lifestyle focus on quality, centered in wellness, and facilitated by competent and caring staff. Renegades players and staff will visit and engage with residents and participate in activity stations.

Friday, June 10th – Liberty Station

  • Hudson River Housing believes that those who served our country deserve the highest level of care, including quality, affordable housing. Hudson River Housing aims to meet the needs for the veteran community through specialized housing, transportation, advocacy, and care management. Operated by Hudson River Housing, Liberty Station was the first of three housing services available for veterans. Opened in 2014, Liberty Station offers a supportive living environment in the company of other veterans. Units are single room occupancy, with shared kitchen and bath facilities. Garden Street Housing and Poughkeepsie Commons also offer housing for veterans. Garden Street Housing offers low-cost housing with a preference for female veterans, with private baths and shared kitchen and common areas and Poughkeepsie Commons is a 72-unit apartment complex that offers 24 one-bedroom apartments exclusively for veterans. Veterans from Liberty Station, Garden Street Housing, and Poughkeepsie Commons will gather at Liberty Station to meet and engage with Renegades players and staff.

Saturday, June 11th – Disability, Dream & Do (D3)/ThinkDIFFERENTLY Camp

  • D3 and ThinkDIFFERENTLY collaborate to host camp in partnership with Hudson Valley Renegades. Disability, Dream & Do (D3) is a pro style practice with professional players at stadiums across the country. D3 participants have an opportunity to hit, throw, catch and run the bases with instruction from the best regardless of anyone’s limitations. The Disability Dream and Do (D3Day) sports camps were created by Dave Clark, the only pitcher in professional sports history to pitch on crutches, and Doug Cornfield, a former NCAA medal winning runner at Georgia, who himself had a child born with no arms. These camps allow professional players to interact with children with special needs in various drills and compete in sports with no limitations. In 2016, Dave Stevens, who was born without legs but played college football and minor league baseball, came on board as the D3 Day camps expanded to other cities in the US. Dave, Dave and Doug now put on camps all over the country and share their amazing stories as well as inspire others to look past a disability and turn it into an ability.
  • “ThinkDIFFERENTLY” is a call to action, a genuine challenge to determine if we have it within ourselves to look past our differences and treat others the way we would hope to be treated. Too often, too many with special needs are overlooked and their unique abilities ignored. Instead, we seek to lift each other up and embrace all residents of all abilities. Launched by Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro in 2015, the “ThinkDIFFERENTLY” initiative seeks to change the way individuals, businesses, organizations and communities relate to our neighbors with special needs.

Sunday, June 12th – Fishkill Food Pantry

  • The Fishkill Food Pantry was established as a mission program in 1985 to assist individuals and families in the Southern Dutchess area who are coping with financial emergencies and supply basic food needs. The people served are often referred to the Pantry by social service agencies, churches, schools, and family advocates. The Pantry is the largest food pantry in Dutchess County, serving families in Beacon, Beekman, Chelsea, Cold Spring, Fishkill, Glenham, Hopewell Junction, Hughsonville, Stormville, and Wappingers Falls. The Renegades will provide donations in the morning to the food pantry and host a food drive during Sunday’s game.

The Renegades Community Program and their participation in HOPE Week is presented by WMCHealth. Throughout the week, the Renegades host the Jersey Shore BlueClaws for a seven-game series at The Dutch. The Wichita Wind Surge Continues Tornado Relief Support

The Surge announces school supply drive through the end of August

Continuing the season long support for those impacted by the Andover Tornado, the Wichita Wind Surge will host a school-supply drive with donations earmarked for the students of Andover’s Prairie Creek Elementary School.

During home games between May 31 and the end of August, fans can bring donations to Guest Services, located behind Section 10. Those unable to attend a Wind Surge game may drop off donations at the Box Office, located on McLean Blvd. Those donating will receive a free berm ticket for a future 2022 regular season Wind Surge game.

“We want to give everyone an opportunity to help the students and teachers at Andover’s Prairie Creek Elementary School in any way they can,” said Bob Moullette, Director of Fan Experience. “Donations of pens, paper, folders, and other supplies will go a long way in replacing the items that were lost in the tornado and they will help send the message that we are all one community that supports each another.”

Accepted school supplies include: notebook paper, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, rulers, backpacks, Clorox wipes, baby wipes, dry erase markers, folders, and scissors.

Donations must be new in their original unopened packaging; backpacks can be new or gently used.

Local Black Owned Businesses Will Be Featured At Five Games This Season

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists in conjunction with the Western NC Black Business Expo are proud to announce Black Business Nights Presented by UScellular.

During five designated nights during the 2022 season five local Black-owned Businesses will be able to showcase their products or professional services on the concourse during Asheville Tourists Games. The first featured game is this Saturday, May 28. The remaining four games are scheduled for June 15, June 29, July 26, and August 12.

This Saturday’s game at McCormick Field will feature the following local Black-owned Businesses: HOTWORX, The Plug Chiropractic, Makeba Loving Hands, Rita Lee & Associates, and Upstate Essential Solutions, LLC.

The initiative is part of Minor League Baseballs “The Nine” outreach platform. Prior to the 2022 season Minor League Baseball launched “The Nine,” a new, Black-community focused outreach platform specifically designed to honor and celebrate the historic impact numerous Black baseball pioneers made on the sport, provide new opportunities for youth baseball and softball participation, further diversify the business of baseball, and embrace millions of passionate fans throughout MiLB’s 120 communities nationwide.

It is named for the number Jackie Robinson wore during his only season playing in MiLB with the Triple-A Montreal Royals in 1946

The Western NC Black Business Expo is a creation of the Western NC Minority Business Association. The WNCMBA is a non-profit organization created to advocate and promote the development of minority-owned businesses in Western North Carolina through networking events, workshops, and annual business expos.

Dragons to Recognize “Community All Stars” Recipient During Game on May 22

Dayton, Ohio — The Dayton Dragons will recognize Culture Works as a “Community All-Stars” recipient during a special inning break of the Dragons game on Sunday, May 22nd against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. The game will start at 1:05 p.m.

The Dragons Community All-Stars Program honors individuals who have gone above and beyond to improve the quality of life in the Miami Valley. They could be firefighters or police officers, doctors or good Samaritans. It could be a first responder or a volunteer. The Dragons are going to highlight these Community All-Stars at games all summer long.

From its first days as the Dayton Performing Arts Fund in 1974, Culture Works has been central to the success of the arts in Dayton. While Culture Works means many things to the arts community, their two main roles are funding and marketing the wide range of arts in our area.

The success of a world class arts culture like Dayton’s does not happen without someone tending to it, and that’s where Culture Works steps in. Lisa Hanson, the President and CEO of Culture Works, and her team are much like gardeners, ensuring that the programs, projects, artists, performers, and creators in their care all have what they need to grow.

Culture Works has developed partnerships with private citizens, government entities and support from the business community to build a fundraising arm that allows Dayton artists to succeed. One of the best ways to see that success is when artists not only grow but choose to remain in Dayton for the duration of their career instead of taking their talents to another city.

MGM Park To Host Gulf Coast Diamond Classic on May 21

The Biloxi Shuckers and BCSG 360 announced today they will host the Gulf Coast Diamond Classic on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at MGM Park. The Gulf Coast Diamond Classic will feature HBCUs Jackson State University (Jackson, MS) and Mississippi Valley State University (Itta Bena, MS).

The contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The gates at MGM Park will open one hour prior to game start time.

Fans have three ticket options for the Gulf Coast Diamond Classic:

  • Adult Ticket – $20 includes entry for game.
  • Youth Ticket – $10 includes entry for game.
  • Premium Ticket – $30 includes entry for game and premium seating access.

When purchasing tickets, unless buying premium tickets, select ‘BERM’ for your ticket option. For the Gulf Coast Diamond Classic, these will allow you to sit anywhere in the seating bowl that is not in the premium section.

Jackson State University will serve as the away team for the game and Mississippi Valley State University will be the home team.

Culture Works Weekend Coming to Day Air Ballpark

Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Dragons are excited to host a Culture Works Weekend at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. Thursday, May 19 to Sunday, May 22 will be dedicated to helping support the annual Culture Works campaign.

Dragons mascots Heater and Gem are co-chairs of the annual Culture Works campaign. Earlier in March, the Dragons hosted the Kickoff Culture Works Party at Day Air Ballpark. The event featured Heater, Gem, live artists, musicians, and a photo booth. Guests were made up of arts organization leaders, board members, donors, and staff.

The weekend will include Culture Works performers singing the national anthem during the events. There will also be Culture Works first pitches, inning break performances, plaza performances, radio interviews and TV interviews.

Columbus Litter League Is Back to Strike Out Litter in City Neighborhoods

Opening Day for season two of Columbus Litter League is June 1, and volunteers can join the lineup to help strike out litter in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Individuals, community groups, nonprofit organizations and businesses can form teams of up to 20 players for division competition in the baseball-themed litter abatement effort managed by the City of Columbus Keep Columbus Beautiful program.

Litter League season runs from June 1 through August 31, and teams will score one run for each full bag of litter collected during cleanups.

Mayor Andrew J. Ginther has a friendly wager with Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz on which city’s Litter League program will collect more tons of debris this season.

“Litter is a serious quality of life issue affecting the safety and health of residents and the environment,” said Mayor Ginther. “With teamwork, our community can solve this harmful problem. Thank you to all Litter League players and supporters working to defeat litter in our community. We will score a victory against litter in Columbus, and a win versus Toledo Litter League, too!”

Huntington is the presenting sponsor of Columbus Litter League and is working with the Columbus Clippers, also a sponsor, to support the competition and hold special Litter League team nights at Clippers’ games this summer.

“The Litter League allows our community the opportunity to have a fun time with a serious issue. Division teams that collect the most litter by the season’s end will play in a Wiffle Ball tournament at Huntington Park.

Salute to America, Event to Honor Vietnam POWs

Join The Drive on Friday, June 3 at 6 PM in celebrating a special group of people, the Vietnam POWs. Members of the United States Armed Forces were held as prisoners of war (POWs) in significant numbers during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1973. The POWs spent years living in unimaginable circumstances. They had a mission to resist, survive and return with honor, and they did.

Fluor Field will be alive with large groups of POWs in Greenville for a reunion and celebration of their survival. Let’s show up and celebrate with them!

Using this evening to celebrate a perfect night of patriotism, bring your family out to Fluor Field for a complimentary community event. Saluting America together, a chance for us to come out and say thank you!

The evening will include special entertainment as a flag jump takes off in a helicopter and then lands back in the stadium. Continued programing to include Miss Liberty Belle, a patriotic fly over, and our special guest Steve Amerson (America’s Tenor) performing “Amazed by America” accompanied by Broadway singer, Laurie Gayle Stephenson. Ending the night in full celebration, we will conclude with fireworks!

Scrappers Partner With The DeBartolo Corporation To Present The Community Dugout Program For The 2022 Season

NILES, OH – The Mahoning Valley Scrappers present the Community Dugout Program for the 2022 Scrapers season. The program is designed to provide complimentary tickets to a Scrappers game to non-profit organizations in the Mahoning Valley. Non-profit organizations can apply for the program and use the tickets for those who benefit from their organizations or as rewards for their volunteers.

The ticket request form can be found at mvscrappers.com and must be submitted to the Scrappers at least two weeks prior to the requested game date. In addition to the ticket request form, a letter needs to be submitted with your organization’s letterhead.

Complimentary tickets will be available for Mahoning Valley Scrappers home games pending availability with a maximum of 20 tickets available per group. If your request is approved, a Scrappers Front Office Staff Member will be in contact to confirm.

Tickets will be held at the Chick-Fil-A Howland Will Call Window located at the Chevy All Stars Box Office at Eastwood Field for pick up on arrival at the game. The tickets can only be released to the authorized group leader, who must present identification and a copy of the request form in order to receive the tickets.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers are set to open the 2022 season at Eastwood Field on Thursday, June 2 against the West Virginia Black Bears. Opening Night will also feature fan favorites post-game fireworks and Buck Night. Scrappers ticket packages and sponsorship opportunities are on sale now. Vancouver Canadians and RBC Announce RBC We Care Wednesdays

VANCOUVER, BC – The Vancouver Canadians and RBC are pleased to announce the 2022 debut of RBC We Care Wednesdays, a brand-new community spotlight campaign that will highlight the efforts, impact, and achievements of 10 local charities through public awareness, a ticket fundraiser and in-stadium events that showcase each charity at Nat Bailey Stadium.

During each RBC We Care Wednesday, fans at the ballpark will be introduced to one of the following 10 charities:

May 4 – BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, works with communities across British Columbia to raise funds for essentials including life-saving equipment, research into childhood diseases, a wide range of medical staff and community child health education programs.

May 18 – Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, whose vision is to see all young people realize their full potential and whose mission is to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people.

June 1 – United Way British Columbia, serves Central and Northern Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland, Thompson Nicola Cariboo, Southern Interior, Trail and District, and East Kootenay and exists to drive positive impact and lasting change by delivering resources and support for the people who need it most.

June 15 – YMCA of Greater Vancouver, a charity that has cares for kids, shapes leaders for tomorrow and helps generations of people come together to find support, get healthier and make friends for life.

June 29 – JA British Columbia, brings important educational experiences to thousands of students annually across British Columbia. Through these programs that focus on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship, JABC aims to inspire, prepare, and empower BC youth for lifelong success.

July 13 – Greater Vancouver Food Bank, whose mission is to create empowering environments that provide and promote access to healthy food, education, and training.

July 27 – Challenger Baseball, a division of Baseball BC that provides an opportunity for children with cognitive or physical disabilities to enjoy the full benefits of participation in baseball at a level structured to their abilities.

August 3 – Out On Screen, a professional arts organization with two key program initiatives: the annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival and Out In Schools, a province-wide educational program aimed primarily at high school students with program delivery across the education system that engages high school students using film and video to address homophobia, transphobia, and bullying.

August 24 – BGC South Coast BC, proudly serving over 10,000 children, youth and families annually, providing fun, safe spaces to learn, grow and heal.

Sept 7 –* Foundry*, a province-wide network of integrated health and social service centres for young people ages 12-24. Foundry Centres provide a one-stop-shop for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, primary care, social services and youth and family peer supports.

Each charity will benefit from a special fundraising code that fans can use to purchase tickets. A portion of the ticket purchase price will go directly to support the charity. A special pregame ceremony, interactive activities on the concourse – including Meet & Greets with RBC Olympians – and other events around the ballpark will take place during each RBC We Care Wednesday. RiverDogs to Host Conclusion of Youth Baseball Game Interrupted by Gunfire

The Charleston RiverDogs will host the conclusion of a youth baseball game that was interrupted by gunfire on May 3, the team announced on Thursday. The incident occurred at North Charleston’s Pepperhill Park on Monday evening. The North Charleston Recreation Royals and Angels will play the remainder of the game at 5:00 p.m. and enjoy a special night at the ballpark following their game. The 15U softball team that was practicing in the park at the time of the incident will also take part in the evening. Later, the RiverDogs host the Fayetteville Woodpeckers at 7:05 p.m.

“As a huge supporter of youth baseball, we felt that is was our responsibility to do something for these children that might help them move on from this traumatic experience”, said RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols. “We have a tremendous opportunity, with what we do night in and night out, to help in difficult situations like these. Thankfully, with the help of the city of North Charleston and the North Charleston Recreation Department, we were able to put this special night together quickly.”

Major League Baseball is purchasing tickets to the game for all three youth teams, as well as hosting a post-game picnic for everyone involved. In addition, the Tampa Bay Rays are sending t-shirts and hats for the children. The Rays are the RiverDogs MLB affiliate.

“Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball were deeply saddened by the incident that took place Monday night and we are relieved that nobody was injured,” said Peter Woodfork, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President of Minor League Operations and Development. “We are pleased that these children and their families will have an opportunity to finish this game at Joseph Riley Park prior to the RiverDogs hosting the Fayetteville Woodpeckers on Tuesday. We hope the experience at The Joe will be a small step towards helping those involved in that frightening incident.”

The gates to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park will open one hour earlier than normal (5:00 p.m.) to accommodate fans who are interested in supporting the teams. A ticket is required for entry to the ballpark and will be good for both the youth baseball game and the RiverDogs contest. The nine and ten-year-olds making up the Royals and Angels will play a game from 5:00-6:00 p.m. During the game, members of the RiverDogs and Woodpeckers will interact with the children in the dugout and on the field.

Following their game, the youth teams, will enjoy the picnic as the RiverDogs take the field for their contest. Each team member has been invited to bring two additional family members to the game and the RiverDogs are donating two tickets to every youth baseball and softball player in the North Charleston Recreation Department system. RiverDogs Director of Community Outreach, Chris Singleton, will speak to the children during the post-game picnic.

“The RiverDogs are a true community partner. Following the events of Monday night affecting three of our youth athletic teams, the RiverDogs were among the first to reach out to offer support to the young players and their families,” said North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey. “Playing at The Joe will be a much needed positive and joyful experience for our kids.”
