GRAND CHUTE, WI – The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and TDS are partnering with area law enforcement officers to hand out hand out tickets this summer. Don’t worry. These are the good kind of tickets though as this is the return of the You’ve Been Ticketed program.

The goal of the program is to encourage safe and responsible behavior in the young people of the Fox Cities. Kids who are “caught” in a responsible act – such as wearing a bike helmet, observing pedestrian rules, or helping with a neighborhood cleanup – will receive one free ticket to a Timber Rattlers baseball game. A total of 225 tickets will be distributed during the summer.

“Making a positive impact in communities is a key part of our company mission,” says Missy Kellor, associate manager-communications at TDS. “We couldn’t be more delighted to sponsor the Timber Rattlers Community Tickets program and reward area youth for their good works.

Ticket vouchers will be good for any 2021 Timber Rattlers regular season home game. Police departments participating in the program include Appleton, Grand Chute, Kaukauna, Fox Valley Metro, Neenah, and Menasha.

“The Timber Rattlers are proud to bring back and once again be part of You’ve Been Ticketed,” said Dayna Baitinger, Director of Community Relations for the Timber Rattlers. “We look forward to working with TDS and area police departments on this fun program that starts today.”

WooSox to offer vaccines for fans during first June homestand

June 1, 2021

Here is a link to the original story on the team's website.

Club teams up with Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center; 50 J&J vaccines will be available at every game this week at Polar Park.

WORCESTER, MA – After successfully administering 214 vaccines at Polar Park on Tuesday, May 25, the WooSox today announced they will make vaccines available for fans at Polar Park during the club’s second homestand, their first without COVID-19 capacity restrictions. The program is in partnership with Worcester’s Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center.

“We are proud to be among the first Triple-A teams in the country to offer vaccines for fans during our ballgames,” said WooSox President, Dr. Charles A. Steinberg. “We look forward to continuing to do our part to inspire more people to become vaccinated in the City of Worcester and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”

Fans who receive a Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Polar Park will be given a complimentary General Admission ticket to that day’s game, along with a WooSox cap, and must be at least 18 years of age. Staff from the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center will administer the vaccines on the first base concourse at Polar Park on a first-come, first-served basis.

“The City of Worcester has made great strides in getting as many people as possible vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus,” Worcester City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. said. “This partnership between the Worcester Red Sox and the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center is another terrific example of the collaborative efforts that have helped to ensure that every single resident has the opportunity to get vaccinated. This is the team spirit that Worcester is all about.”

On Tuesday, May 4 the Seattle Mariners became the first Major League team in the country to offer vaccines for their fans during games at T-Mobile Park, and successfully administered 160 shots during their game against the Baltimore Orioles. The WooSox would join the Columbus Clippers among Triple-A clubs administering vaccines to their fans during games.

UMass Memorial Health, the official healthcare provider of the Worcester Red Sox, will have EMTs on site as they do for every WooSox home game to offer any support needed.

Anyone who wishes to be vaccinated at Polar Park will be escorted to the first base concourse by a WooSox Ambassador upon receiving their complimentary General Admission ticket at the Ticket Office. Fans who already have tickets to this week’s slate of games and would like a vaccine can simply check in with the Kennedy Health Center staff members after the gates open. Those who do will receive a General Admission ticket to a future 2021 home game.

“We are pleased to be able to expand our reach beyond our health center doors to help ensure that anyone who wants the COVID-19 vaccine can get it safely, easily and for free,” said

Kennedy Community Health President and CEO Stephen J. Kerrigan. “Working in partnership with area organizations like Polar Park and the WooSox will boost our efforts to make the vaccine readily available.”

Vaccines will be available at Polar Park through Sunday, June 6 for the club’s entire six-game homestand against the Rochester Red Wings, and will explore the possibility of making more vaccines available at more games this summer.

For more information and further questions, please contact WooSox Vice President of Baseball Operations & Community Relations, Joe Bradlee or the Kennedy Health Center’s Vice President of Advancement, Paula Green.

Aces to Host “Home Run for Life” Ceremony on May 28

May 28, 2021

Here is a link to the original story on the team's website.

RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces will host their first Saint Mary’s “Home Run for Life” ceremony of 2021, featuring Amanda Petch, a cervical cancer survivor,on Friday, May 28 when the Aces take on the Tacoma Rainiers at 6:35 p.m. PT at Greater Nevada Field.

Since 2014, the Aces and Saint Mary’s have partnered to showcase the “Home Run for Life” program. Once a month, a brave individual in the Northern Nevada community is honored by taking a ceremonial trip around the bases with each team lining the baselines. The ceremony symbolizes the end of a battle against adversity. Honored individuals of the run have overcome a significant medical event in their life with the help of Saint Mary’s personnel.

Amanda Petch embodies the true sentiment of what it means to be a warrior, defying all odds and coming out victorious in her battle against cervical cancer.

In early 2020, Amanda and her husband found out they were expecting their first child. Like any parent, both were overcome with joy and excitement to welcome their newborn. During their first ultrasound appointment, regular testing was done as well as their first sight at the soon-to-be baby boy.

Unfortunately, a moment of happy feelings quickly turned “hopeless and broken” as her doctor found a lump on her cervix that turned out to be cancerous. Add in the tumultuous circumstances surrounding COVID-19 on top of the pregnancy and the lump, the future was unknown.

With a great support team from her family, friends, and prayer warriors from around the country, Amanda battled through all the curveballs thrown her way. She delivered her healthy son six weeks early through a c-section and endured over 30 combined rounds of chemotherapy en route to her victory.

On April 21, 2021, Amanda officially took down cancer after a year-long battle when her final scans showed no signs.

Amanda will round the bases commemorating her “Home Run for Life” in the middle of the second inning on Friday night. The Reno Aces and the Tacoma Rainiers players and staff will be lined up at a 12-foot distance to greet her as she makes her way toward home plate.

Greater Nevada Field gates open at 5:35 p.m. PT on Friday, May 28. Tickets are on sale now at www.renoaces.com or by calling (775) 334-7000.

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Mets are excited to announce details for a virtual Education Day that will take place on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. The game against the Worcester Red Sox was originally scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. start and has been officially changed to a noon start to accommodate the educational element.

Classes can participate in school as a group, or students can join on the link as they are home in remote learning environments. “Education Day is a time-honored tradition across the minor leagues, and we wanted to find a way for this to continue to happen in this time of COVID-19,” said Syracuse Mets General Manager Jason Smorol. “This was an idea presented to us by our creative teachers in CNY, so we asked for permission, and with support from MLB, we will be able to let students participate in the fun of Education Day from home and school.”

Prior to the start of the pandemic, the San Antonio Food Bank was serving approximately 58,000 people per week in our 16 county service area. Due to the economic fall out of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are now serving 125,000 people per week. More than 1 in 4 children in San Antonio is at risk for hunger and 45,000 military members have received food assistance since the start of the pandemic. Today our community’s need is more than double what it was in February 2020. At the same time, our capacity to host volunteers has been cut in half from 1,000 per week to 500 per week, in order to allow for social distancing in our shifts.

The need for food, volunteers and cash donations has never been greater than this past year, but the San Antonio community has continued to rally together to support one another. Every $1 gifted to San Antonio Food Bank provides 7 meals to families facing hunger! On behalf of our staff and the many families we serve—thank you so much for your generous contributions. Our mission simply wouldn’t be possible with you. Please visit safoodbank.org for more information.

Cutters Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Gabe Sinicropi stated, “The Crosscutters are delighted to be able to offer this important service to our fans through our Presenting Partner, UPMC. It’s our sincere hope that fans age 12 and over who have yet to be vaccinated take advantage of this special opportunity.”

For fans who are still on the fence about the vaccine, UPMC staff will be available and happy to have informed conversations about the benefits of vaccination. Those who decide to get the vaccine during the game will be allowed to exit and reenter the ballpark without issue.

Welcome to clubphilanthropy.com!

Minor League Baseball clubs have been actively involved in their communities for many years. For the first time, their activities and contributions will be chronicled on this site.

Clubs don’t publicize all of their activity, so these stories represent a mere fraction of the contributions MiLB clubs make to their communities every year.
