Just Announced: Nightmare at the Ballpark

 

In partnership with the Big Sky High School Drama Department, the Missoula Osprey have announced their first ever Nightmare at the Ballpark. The series of SPOOKTACULAR events will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on October 18, 19, 25, 26, 30 and 31.

For just $10 a ticket, guests will be invited to tour the transformed Ogren Park Allegiance Field Clubhouses and experience 10 scenes that will be sure to leave you feeling haunted!

Along side Missoula Osprey staff, the BSHS Drama Department will play an integral part in set design, creativity, and will participate as actors in the Haunted House’s scenes. Through this partnership, the Missoula Osprey will donate $5,000 to the BSHS Drama Department, so be sure to come early and often to support these kids and all of their hard work.

Local Kids & Las Madrinas Guild Help Raise Money for Valley Children’s Hospital

VISALIA, CA – The Visalia Rawhide partnered with Valley Children’s and Las Madrinas Guild to raise money through a jersey auction. In February, the Rawhide announced its first-ever design-a-jersey contest for children 16 and under. Two children, Kaylee Munyon (9) and Pete Lopez (13), received the most fan-votes for their separate designs. It was determined by the selection committee to combine their jersey designs into one cohesive piece.

Munyon, who is a patient at Valley Children’s, designed the front of the jersey using Photoshop. Lopez had designed the back of the jersey. On Sunday, the Rawhide auctioned the game-worn jerseys to fans. Las Madrinas Guild will receive all $2,000 of proceeds from the jersey auction, which will be given to Valley Children’s.

Valley Children has been recognized two years in a row by U.S. News and World Report as one of the “Best Children’s Hospitals” and is planning to build a Visalia hospital location in the near future.

Las Madrinas (translation: The Godmothers) Guild assisted with this fundraiser. Las Madrinas Guild is one of the 13 original guilds formed to support Valley Children’s Hospital.

Cougars to Host Inaugural Mental Health Awareness Night on May 10

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have teamed up with local organizations to host the teams inaugural Mental Health Awareness Night on Friday, May 10. First pitch is at 6:30 PM against the Lansing Lugnuts. For tickets, visit www.kccougars.com.

In an effort to strikeout the mental health stigma, the Kane County Cougars Baseball Foundation, Inc. will make a $100 donation for each strikeout recorded by a Cougars pitcher during the game. All funds will be divided among TriCity Family Services along with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of DuPage and Kane County.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the awareness color is lime green. The team will take the field in their lime green jerseys while Cougars staff members will wear lime green ribbons.

Throughout the night, videos and public service announcements from Seize the Awkward as well as TriCity Family Services and NAMI will be played. TriCity Family Services, NAMI DuPage and Kane County will also be in attendance with information and resources available to those in need.

In addition, the Cougars are hosting a Mental Health Awareness contest. Fans are encouraged to create a poster promoting awareness for mental health issues. The Cougars will select 10 winners to receive complimentary tickets for the game on May 10. Poster submissions can be emailed to art@kanecountycougars.com. The winning posters will also be displayed throughout the ballpark.

Cougars Partner with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to Help Moms in Need

 

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have announced that Northwestern Medicine Field will serve as a donation drop-off site this season as part of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Movers for Moms® program. Donations will be accepted through Thursday, May 9.

Thousands of mothers across the country are overlooked each Mother’s Day due to circumstances that force them to live in shelters as a result of domestic abuse or homelessness. That’s where TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® steps in to ensure that these women receive the love and appreciation they deserve for Mother’s Day. Donations collected through the Movers for Moms® program will be provided to women staying at Mutual Ground in Aurora, Ill.

Fans are encouraged to bring new, unopened donations of essential care items including body spray, laundry detergent, athletic shoes, utensils, drinking glasses, diapers and baby wipes.

A donation bin is located inside the atrium of the Cougars front office at Northwestern Medicine Field for fans that would like to drop off donations during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cougars Stand Aurora Strong; Announce Community Fund as Charitable Beneficiary

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars and the Kane County Cougars Baseball Foundation, Inc. have announced that they will donate a portion of the 50/50 raffle proceeds to the Aurora Strong Community Fund for the 2019 season.

Following the tragic event that took place at the Henry Pratt facility on February 15, the Cougars organization began brainstorming ways to show support for their local community. The decision was made that half of the proceeds raised through the sale of 50/50 raffle tickets throughout the 2019 season will be donated to support the families of the employees who lost their lives to this senseless act of violence.

Fans visiting the ballpark during the 2019 season can participate by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets. Monies raised will be provided to the families via the Kane County Cougars Baseball Foundation, Inc. with the assistance of the Aurora Policemen Credit Union at the end of the 2019 season.

Additional details regarding an employee appreciation night for members of the Henry Pratt company as well as a first responders appreciation night for the Aurora Police and Fire Departments will be announced at a later date.

California League Baseball Teams Unite to Assist With Fire Relief Efforts

Oxnard, CA – As California begins it’s slow recovery process after some of the most deadliest & destructive fires in California history, the baseball teams of the California League have decided to step up to the plate and do their part for the relief efforts.

The California League boasts eight teams located throughout the state: San Jose, Stockton, Modesto, Visalia, Lancaster, San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, and Lake Elsinore. Each team will be producing their own logoed cap with a firefighter theme, created by Cotapaxi, a custom design and manufacturing corporation located in San Diego. These custom caps will only be available for a limited time from each team & can be purchased for $20. Net proceeds from these sales will be donated to support the disaster relief efforts as we enter this holiday season.

Cougars Announce Annual Winter Coat Drive Begins December 3

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have announced the dates for the organization’s annual Winter Coat Drive. Beginning Monday, December 3 fans are welcome to drop by the Cougars front office located at Northwestern Medicine Field (34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva, IL 60134) week days between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to donate winter coats for those in need this holiday season.

Donations of new or gently-used winter coats for infants, children and adults are all encouraged. Fans will receive one (1) undated reserved seat ticket voucher valid for a 2019 regular season Cougars game with each donated item. There is a maximum of 15 complimentary ticket vouchers per fan.

In partnership with the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, all donated coats will be given to local families and individuals in need of cold-weather outerwear this winter.

The Cougars are requesting that all gently-used winter coats be donated by Friday, December 14 at 4 p.m.

Aces Program at Greater Nevada Field Raises More Than $61,000 for Local Non-Profits

RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces, in conjunction with Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU), hosted the “GNCU Community Partners Program Luncheon” on Wednesday, October 17 at Greater Nevada Field. The event recognized participating community organizations for their efforts this season, which raised a total of $61,000 in donations for over 60 non-profits. In addition, Greater Nevada Credit Union awarded the top three fundraisers with a monetary contribution for their respective cause.

Cougars Nominated for MiLB Community Service Award

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have been nominated by the Midwest League for the John Henry Moss Community Service Award.

The award is presented to a Minor League club which demonstrates a commitment to charitable service as well as support and leadership within their local community and the baseball industry.

Community impact has been one of the pillars of the Cougars organization since 1991, but prior to the 2018 season the Kane County Cougars Baseball Foundation, Inc. launched a historic fundraising goal known as “A Million Smiles Campaign.” The first campaign of its kind in the history of MiLB, the Foundation worked towards reaching a donation total of one million dollars with each dollar donated providing a welcome smile for those in need. Reaching above and beyond that milestone this season marks the first time in the Cougars 28 year history that the one million dollar donation total has been achieved with the expansion of various programs including:

Generals announce 2018 Baseball Skills Camps

JACKSON, TENN. – The Jackson Generals will hold their annual Baseball Skills Camps for Jackson-area youth baseball players on Friday, July 13, and Thursday, July 26, 2018.

The two one-day camps, which will feature instruction in hitting, pitching, and defense from current Jackson Generals players, will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Ballpark at Jackson for kids ages 9 to 14 years old.

Parents and coaches who are interested in signing up their children for Baseball Skills Camps can register by filling out the attached flyer and returning it with payment to Promotions Manager Robbie Perry at 4 Fun Place, Jackson TN, 38305. The cost to attend a one-day skills camp is $50 per child, plus tax. Campers who participate in both one-day skills camps will be charged a discounted rate of $45 plus tax for each day.

Hillsboro Hops Contribute $300,000 to Fund State-Of-The-Art Turf Field for Boys Baseball & Girls Softball

The Hillsboro Hops @Hillsborohops announced a major gift of $300,000 to the Hillsboro School District that will fund a new state-of-the-art Hillsboro Hops Youth Field. The Hillsboro Hops Youth Field will be used for boys baseball and girls softball and is part of Glencoe High School’s new multi-use turf field funded by the Hillsboro Bond.

There was a groundbreaking ceremony this morning with dignitaries including Mike McMurray (Chairman & Co-Owner, Hillsboro Hops), K.L. Wombacher (President & General Manager, Hillsboro Hops), Mike Scott (Superintendent, Hillsboro School District), Rian Petrick (Director of Extracurricular Programs & Community Outreach, Hillsboro School District), Steve Callaway (Hillsboro Mayor) and Jerry Willey (Washington County Commissioner-elect) to officially commence the construction of the field, which will be made of FieldTurf.

“We are excited about this collaboration with the Hillsboro School District to develop a high-quality year-round youth field,” said Hillsboro Hops President & GM KL Wombacher. “Over the last three years, youth baseball has seen an average yearly growth of 14.3%, which is exciting. Softball participation is also growing. To accommodate this growth and inspire more kids to play in the future locally, we need more fields, especially high-quality fields. We are very motivated to help accomplish that and expect this field to be a great starting point.”

“The Hillsboro Hops and Hillsboro School District share common goals with this collaboration,” Hillsboro School District Superintendent Mike Scott stated. “It’s about supporting our youth and helping them develop and grow, not just in sports, but in life. It’s about connecting them with teammates, caring adults, and their community to foster their future success. The Hillsboro Hops Youth Field provides the foundation for those goals.”

The field is expected to be completed by late August or early September 2018.

Cougars Rank #6 in Charitable Giving Among All MiLB Teams

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have been ranked #6 among all 160 Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for their charitable giving throughout the 2017 season, per the MiLB Charities Report which was released last week by the league. Collectively, MiLB clubs reported nearly $40 million in cash and in-kind donations, the highest in MiLB Charities history.

“When you find yourself ranked #6 out of #160 that is special, no matter the category,” said Cougars owner Dr. Bob Froehlich. “Then when you realize the category in is charitable giving among all of Minor League Baseball, it becomes so special that no words can describe how proud we are of what our Foundation has meant to Kane County.”

Of the nearly $40 million, the Cougars contributed $949,926 among their various charitable campaigns throughout the season. The Cougars charitable giving is highlighted by many different programs throughout the year including the Al Mueller Memorial Scholarship Fund which awards local college students working to further their education, Paramount Fence Home Runs for Charity program, the Cougars Reading Club, as well as the Cougars Summer Reading Program, the Highland Salutes program supports both active duty military and veterans along with participation in MiLB’s inaugural “Es Divertido Ser Un Fan” initiative that aimed to connect Hispanic/Latino baseball fans with their local teams.

Moving towards the 2018 season, the Cougars are pledging to increase their charitable giving via the new history-making “A Million Smiles Campaign.” Announced on Monday, the Cougars are the first MiLB team to set a charity fundraising goal of this magnitude. Each dollar donated throughout the season will provide a much-needed smile for those in need. Cougars Partner with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® to Help Moms In Need

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have announced that Northwestern Medicine Field will serve as a donation drop-off site for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Movers for Moms® program through Friday, May 11.

Thousands of mothers across the country are overlooked each Mother’s Day due to circumstances that force them to live in shelters as a result of domestic abuse or homelessness. That’s where TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® steps in to ensure that these women receive the love and appreciation they deserve this Mother’s Day. Donations collected through the Movers for Moms® program will be provided to women staying Lazarus House in St. Charles, Ill.

Fans are encouraged to bring donations of the following essential care items: body spray, soaps, hair styling products, towels, make-up brushes, pajamas, large tote bags and umbrellas.

A donation bin is located inside the atrium of the Cougars front office at Northwestern Medicine Field for fans that would like to drop off donation during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For every two items donated to the Movers for Mom® program, fans will receive one (1) undated reserved seat ticket voucher valid for a 2018 regular season Cougars game. There is a maximum of 10 complimentary ticket vouchers per fan. Donations will be accepted through Friday, May 11.

Cougars Make History With “A Million Smiles Campaign”

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars charitable arm, the Kane County Cougars Foundation, Inc. has launched a historic fundraising goal known as “A Million Smiles Campaign” for the upcoming 2018 season. Today’s announcement makes the Cougars the first team in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) to set a charity fundraising goal.

This season, the Kane County Cougars Foundation, Inc. will work towards reaching a donation total of one million dollars, with each dollar donated providing a much needed smile for those in need. As the first campaign of its kind in the history of MiLB, President and CEO Pat O’Connor is excited to see the charitable work that the team will accomplish this season.

“I am very proud of the lengths which our Minor League Baseball teams go to give back to their local communities, as the Kane County Cougars have now publicly pledged to do at an extraordinary level. Should the Cougars reach this ambitious goal, they will certainly be one of the most charitable of Minor League Baseball’s 160 teams and I commend them for their efforts.”

As members of the Midwest League, the Cougars are building upon the tradition of giving back that has been a part of the League for the last 72 years. “I applaud the initiative being taken by the Kane County Cougars to commit to this extraordinary philanthropy,” said Dick Nussbaum, President of the Midwest League. “It is consistent with the Midwest League’s leadership in Minor League Baseball. Proceeds from each ticket sold to our four million fans each year ends up as a charitable contribution by our Clubs. The collective power of this giving is consistent with the generosity shown by those of us who live in the Midwest and the Cougars are taking this tradition of giving to another level.”

One way fans can help provide a million smiles includes purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets with proceeds benefiting various local charities including Mutual Ground, Northern Illinois Food Bank, BraveHearts for Kids and CASA Kane County. Additional opportunities to contribute include participation in the Pitch In for Charity promotion, benefiting Loaves and Fishes CARES, on fireworks nights, purchasing a Legacy Brick to be displayed at the main entrance of the ballpark, selecting the Kane County Cougars Foundation, Inc. as your favorite charity on AmazonSmiles as well as registering for the 7th Annual Cougars 5K on May 19 with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Illinois.

Additional charitable opportunities will be announced throughout the year including collection of donation items for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Movers for Mom® program, the annual Winter Coat Drive and the Es Divertido Ser Un Fan charitable jersey auction to benefit a local Hispanic organization.
