Shorebirds to Support Veterans with 4th of July Game

SALISBURY, Md. — The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, will host a home game this year on the 4th of July. The Shorebirds will host the Lakewood BlueClaws with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM. The team will wear special Patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game with the proceeds benefitting the Department of Maryland VFW Military Assistance Program. This program does many things including bringing wounded warriors from 5 area military hospitals and their families to Ocean City every June for a nice getaway. The program also helps military personnel with housing and financial management.

The Patriotic jerseys that the Shorebirds will wear will resemble an American Flag and will include military camouflage in the design. The auction set for the Patriotic jerseys on Tuesday, July 4th will be ran by Operation We Care. There will be information tables for Operation We Care where fans can give donations and receive more information about their organization.

Operation We Care is a local, all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our military and first responders. Operation We Care has been sending care packages & supporting our military, law enforcement, and Fire/EMS departments since 2007.

“Operation We Care is a great organization that helps out the people that work so hard to protect our freedom. We are really excited to partner with them this season,” said Chris Bitters, Shorebirds General Manager. “Come on out to the game on July 4th at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium as we celebrate our country’s independence with baseball, fireworks, and helping out the ones that fought so hard for our freedom.”

The Shorebirds will host the Lakewood Blue Claws, affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, on Tuesday, July 4th with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM. Gates will open at 5:00 PM. After the game, the Patriotic jerseys will be awarded to the person with the highest bid and the Shorebirds will host their largest fireworks show of the season. River Cats set to salute Armed Forces during homestand

The Sacramento River Cats are back for a four-game homestand against the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks) starting Saturday, May 6. The homestand may be brief, but includes the annual fan-favorite Salute to Armed Forces celebration as well as the return of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) for a special softball match against the Sacramento All-Stars.

Saturday, May 6 – River Cats vs. Reno Aces

  • WWAST: The Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team will take on the Sacramento All-Stars at 3:30 pm. Tickets for tonight’s River Cats game also include the exhibition softball game. Gates open at 3 pm.
  • Game Time: First pitch for the River Cats game is at 7:05 p.m. Raley Field gates will open to all fans at 3 p.m.
  • Broadcast: Today’s game will be broadcast live online at rivercats.com and on River Cats radio affiliate ESPN 1320.
  • Salute to Armed Forces: The celebration will include a flyover, National Anthem by Band of the Golden West (Travis AFB), and a special recognition of a WWII veteran who survived Pearl Harbor.

Shuckers raise over $6,000 for March of Dimes

BILOXI, MS – For their April 22 game against the Jackson Generals, the Biloxi Shuckers wore special coast-themed jerseys which were auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting March of Dimes. In addition to the jersey auction, members of the Shuckers front office and seasonal employees participated in the South Mississippi March for Babies on April 29.

Biloxi Shuckers fans answered the call once again and helped to raise just over $6,000 for the March of Dimes from the jersey auction, proceeds from that night’s launch-a-ball promotion, t-shirt drive & online fundraising campaign.

“The March of Dimes was thrilled to partner with the Biloxi Shuckers for our largest fundraising event, March for Babies,” said Jennifer Parker, Executive Director of Market Development at March of Dimes.

“The jersey auction was a great way to raise funds for the vital work of the March of Dimes. It was incredible to see so many people connect about the March of Dimes mission all the while enjoying a great evening of fun. My family won a jersey and my son now has it placed in a shadow box in his bedroom. The partnership between the Biloxi Shuckers and March of Dimes has made a remarkable impact on the monies raised here in Mississippi and the overall mission to give every baby a healthy start.”

The jerseys were designed by local tattoo artist Matt Stebly, showcasing the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The custom design features a redfish, a pelican and the iconic Biloxi lighthouse in a watercolor style. The game-worn jerseys were auctioned during the game in a silent auction. After the game, winners had the opportunity to meet the player or coach who wore the jersey and get it autographed.

The March of Dimes funds lifesaving research and works to end premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality.

The Biloxi Shuckers are committed to their community and are proactively seeking ways to improve the quality of life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Shuckers partner with non-profits, military, schools and youth athletic organizations to provide benevolent outreach. In addition to financial assistance, the Shuckers front office staff has volunteered 144 hours so far in the community this year.

The Shuckers return to action tonight at MGM Park, in the homestand opener against the Montgomery Biscuits. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:35 pm. Bring your appetite to MGM Park each Wednesday this season for an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Left Field Terrace which will include hamburgers, hot dogs, and offerings from Papa John’s, Aztecas Restaurant & Cantina, Murky Waters, Krispy Kreme and more. The all-you-can-eat ticket is just $20! Season ticket holders will have the option to upgrade their tickets each Wednesday for only $10. Limited all-you-can-eat tickets are available, so reserve your spot in advance.

The homestand continues on Thursday with Thirsty Thursday and Star Wars Night, a Sand Koozie Giveaway presented by Corona on Friday, post-game fireworks on Saturday and Breakin’ BBoy McCoy and Family Fun Day on Sunday.

Military Appreciation Night Returns on May 13th

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (May 3, 2017) – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will host their fourth annual Military Appreciation Night at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The evening features a military card set giveaway of 36 local veterans to the first 1,000 fans, presented by Embrace Hospice, distinctive military-inspired jerseys for the Pelicans and more.

In addition to the military card set giveaway courtesy of Embrace Hospice, the Pelicans will hold a special pregame ceremony to honor the 36 veterans featured in this year’s set. Throughout the game veterans and active military personnel will also be recognized. All veterans or active military members can obtain a free ticket to this contest with their military ID and their families can purchase tickets for just $10 courtesy of Steak and Shake.

The Pelicans will wear military-inspired jerseys in their game against the Lynchburg Hillcats. Forty-one jerseys will be raffled off to veterans and active military in attendance. Both veterans and current military personnel can show their ID at the jersey table on the first base concourse to receive a free raffle ticket to win a jersey. During the seventh inning, raffle winners will be announced, and the winning military members will be invited on the field postgame for a special meet-and-greet with Pelicans players and the club’s coaching staff. These game-worn jerseys are available to veterans and active military personnel through generous donations by friends and family of Embrace Hospice.

Military Appreciation Night is in conjunction with the city of Myrtle Beach’s Military Appreciation Days and is also a Locals Appreciation Night, meaning each fan with a local ID receives $3.00 off their ticket price courtesy of Sparks Toyota and WMBF News. ALS Celebrity Waiter Event on May 24th

The BlueClaws ALS Celebrity Waiter Event moves to Quaker Steak & Lube in Brick and returns on May 24th.

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The BlueClaws are pleased to hold their 17th annual ALS Celebrity Waiter Event on Wednesday, May 24th from 6 pm – 8 pm at Quaker Steak & Lube in Brick. All proceeds from the event will benefit the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, the principal charity of the Phillies.

The ALS Celebrity Waiter Event features all BlueClaws players serving as the waiters and BlueClaws coaches serving as the bartenders. The players will pose for pictures and sign autographs throughout the night while helping to raise money for a great cause.

20% of all bills and 100% of all tips will be donated directly to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia. This event has raised over $150,000 for the ALS Association in its first 16 years of existence.

P-Nats Announce “Pfitzgiving” Celebration Plans for Saturday, May 13th at Pfitzner Stadium

Woodbridge, VA—The Potomac Nationals are excited to announce a one-of-a-kind Super Saturday Pfitzgiving celebration on Saturday, May 13th to spotlight the halfway mark to Thanksgiving at Pfitzner Stadium as the P-Nats take on the Salem Red Sox (Boston) at 6:35pm.

In celebration of Early Turkey Day at Pfitzner Stadium, the P-Nats are going all out to ring in Pfitzgiving.

With gates to The Pfitz set to open at 5:00pm, Pfitzgiving will feature a delectable fully catered Thanksgiving all-you-can-eat buffet-style dinner with all the fixin’s available in the Bullpen Picnic Area. This will be available to fans who upgrade their ticket to the P-Nats’ 5/13 game for $10, either as a part of a pre-purchase or a gameday purchase.

To the backdrop of Thanksgiving décor, Pfitzgiving-style turkey (hot) dogs with a cranberry sauce topping will be sold in the Main Concessions Stand for fans who wish to indulge in a special delicacy that is sure to become a Pfitzgiving tradition.

The highlight of Pfitzgiving will most certainly be the P-Nats’ half-man, half-turkey, never-before seen, Bryce Harper Gobblehead giveaway, sponsored by: Cowles Parkway Ford. It will be given away to the first 1,250 fans who enter Pfitzner Stadium on Pfitzgiving. This will be the world’s first “gobblehead” giveaway known to mankind.

The Bryce Harper Gobblehead will be the first installment given away to P-Nats fans in the Potomac Nationals’ 2017 Official Bobblehead Series.

The P-Nats will also host a canned food drive and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. The Potomac Nationals are asking fans to please bring canned food donations to the Extreme Custom Collision Ticket Office. All donations will be sent directly to the Capital Area Food Bank to help families in need.

A special Thanksgiving-themed on-field, game used, autographed jersey auction will run during the game with proceeds to benefit Gar-Field High School. Fans will bid on these unique Pfitzgiving-inspired jerseys worn by P-Nats players and coaches during the game, which are then autographed after the game by the player or coach who wore the jersey. Fans who win the jerseys will get to come on to the field post-game and take a photo with the player or coach while holding the signed, game-used jersey.

Thanksgiving-esque activities during Pfitzgiving will include: a cornhole tournament, a pie eating contest, a Turkey Call competition, and a corn shucking race, to underscore the Pfitzgiving holiday.

Meanwhile, P-Nats fans will have the opportunity to tell the Pfitzner Stadium gallery what they are thankful for this Pfitzgiving. Responses will be read aloud over the public address system during the game.

Hidden wishbones will be placed inside of select free souvenir programs, which will unlock free 2017 P-Nats tickets.

On top of a night full of Pfitzgiving entertainment, the Potomac Nationals will cap off Pfitzgiving with a fantastic post-game fireworks show after the P-Nats finish their clash with the Red Sox, brought to fans by Cowles Parkway Ford and WTOP to culminate another Super Saturday at The Pfitz.

Also, post-game Kids Run the Bases will be presented by: Glory Days Grill, as children aged 12 and under will be able to circle the bases on the Pfitzner Stadium diamond.

TinCaps Seek Nominees for Military Salutes in 2017

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne TinCaps, along with OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc., will salute our military throughout the 2017 season and need your help.

All those who serve our country, or have served, deserve to be saluted. The TinCaps are looking for nominations of active or veteran military personnel to honor at games. If you have a friend or family member you’d like to see honored at Parkview Field, then let the team know.

Selected nominees will be rewarded with VIP treatment at Parkview Field. This includes tickets to the game for them and their family, and recognition on the field before that night’s fireworks show.

Woodbridge, VA— The Potomac Nationals are proud to honor all active and retired United States military members in the Northern Virginia community throughout the 40th season of Potomac Baseball at Pfitzner Stadium.

The P-Nats are honored to announce that the Nationals’ annual Military Appreciation Night will get underway on Saturday June 3rd with a special pre-game ceremony while commemorative military appreciation on-field jerseys will be worn by Potomac Nationals players and coaches throughout the 2017 season courtesy of Reality Realty, and military ticket discounts will be available to active and retired military members for every home game at Pfitzner Stadium this season.

P-Nats’ On-Field, Autographed Commemorative Military Appreciation Jersey Auction
Potomac Nationals players and coaches will wear commemorative military appreciation jerseys throughout the 2017 season. These themed jerseys are sponsored by Reality Realty and will be worn on every Sunday home game in 2017 with the exception of games on 5/14 and 6/11. All game-used Military Appreciation Jerseys will be autographed by the P-Nats player or coach who wore the jersey all season and the game jerseys will be auctioned off on the field during the August 27thhome game at Pftizner Stadium. Bowling With the BlueClaws Returns to Sea Girt Lanes on April 30th

LAKEWOOD, NJ – BlueClaws Charities is proud to announce its seventh annual Bowling With The BlueClaws fundraising event returns to Sea Girt Lanes on Sunday, April 30th. BlueClaws players will again be at the event, a great chance for kids to have a fun night out with players and Buster while raising money for a worthy cause.

The charitable bowling event takes place from 6-8pm. For just $12, participants will receive bowling shoes, a raffle ticket for a series of prizes, pizza and soda, and unlimited bowling games.

Quakes partner with Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital for Quakes25

March 21, 2017

Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are celebrating 25 seasons in 2017 and long-time partner Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital will be title sponsor of the team’s “Quakes25 Celebration”.

The festivities begin Thursday, April 13th at LoanMart Field with Opening Night presented by Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, when the Quakes will debut teal and pinstripe jerseys resembling the Quakes uniforms in the inaugural 1993 season. The team will then wear the specialty uniforms and commemorative teal and black on-field caps as part of a once-a-month Saturday series, resulting in a jersey auction benefiting the Loma Linda University Children Hospital’s Vision 2020 Campaign.

“We’re excited to support our community with the Quakes for what will be a spectacular 25th Season,” said Jillian Payne, Assistant Vice President of Philanthropy for Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. “We’re truly grateful for the Quakes’ generosity and know that together, we can build hope for our community.”

Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital is located just 21 miles from LoanMart Field and is the only dedicated Children’s Hospital in the Inland Empire. Among its initiatives, Vision 2020 will provide funding for a new Children’s Hospital tower by the year 2020.

In addition to the Saturday festivities and firework shows, the “Quakes25 Celebration” theme will anchor the 2017 promotional schedule and marketing efforts. The first 1,500 fans through the gates on April 15th will take home a retro replica jersey, courtesy of LoanMart. Each of the five Quakes bobblehead giveaways will include a teal base to recognize the 25th season and the U.S. Bank hat giveaway on July 1st will utilize the teal pinstripes and the original Quakes logo from 1993.

Shuckers and March of Dimes team up for fundraiser

March 21, 2017

BILOXI, MS – For their April 22 game against the Jackson Generals, the Biloxi Shuckers will trade in their usual uniforms for a good cause. Special coast-themed jerseys will be worn during the game, then auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting March of Dimes.

The jerseys, designed by local tattoo artist Matt Stebly, showcase the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The custom design features a redfish, a pelican and the iconic Biloxi lighthouse in a watercolor style. The game worn jerseys will be auctioned during the game in a silent auction with proceeds benefiting March of Dimes. After the game, winners will have the opportunity to meet the player or coach who wore the jersey after the game and get it autographed.

“The March of Dimes is thrilled to partner with the Biloxi Shuckers and Matt Stebly for this unique fundraising opportunity,” said Jennifer Parker, Executive Director of Market Development for March of Dimes, Gulfport and Biloxi. “Our mission supporters look forward to having a great time at The Shuckers game on the 22nd and sharing the important work of the March of Dimes all the while having a great time at the ball field.”

The March of Dimes funds lifesaving research and works to end premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. In addition to this jersey auction, the Shuckers organization will be sponsoring a team in the South Mississippi March for Babies on April 29.

The Saturday night game will also feature the second Post-Game Fireworks Extravaganza of the season. The Shuckers will launch fireworks after every Saturday home game this season, as well as a special show on Tuesday, July 4 against Pensacola.

“This is something I never thought I would have the opportunity to do,” said Stebly on designing a jersey that players could wear on the field. “I wanted to come up with a design that would look good on a jersey and that fans would want to purchase for a great cause. One of my goals was to give baseball fans around the country a vibe of our Mississippi Gulf Coast.”

Authentic, Game-Worn TinCaps Jerseys Up For Auction

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Ever wanted to have the jersey of a Major Leaguer? Or the jersey of one of baseball’s top prospects before they make it big? Maybe you just want a jersey with your favorite number on the back. Either way, now’s your chance.

 

The Fort Wayne TinCaps are auctioning off authentic, game-worn jerseys that fans can bid for online, with proceeds benefiting the TinCaps CARE program.

 

The auction is now live on TinCapsJersey.com and will run until Friday, March 31 (5 p.m.). Bidding for each jersey begins at $50 and goes up by $5 increments.

 

The jerseys being auctioned are the team’s previous green alternate tops, featuring the apple logo on the front and uniform number on the back. These jerseys were also worn regularly during batting practice from 2013-2016.

 

Over the past four seasons, current big leaguers like Trea Turner, Joe Ross, Mallex Smith, Zach Eflin, and Hunter Renfroe wore these jerseys – not to mention Pitching Coach Burt Hooton and former manager José Valentín. The same goes for rising prospects such as Anderson Espinoza, Cal Quantrill, Jake Nix, Luis Urias, Eric Lauer, Michael Gettys, Jake Bauers, and Max Fried. The TinCaps are committed to being a positive force in the community. The mission of TinCaps CARE (Community, Activity, Recreation, and Education) is to give back to citizens around the region through outreach, programs, events, fundraising, and partnerships with local charitable organizations. Perhaps the most impactful of the TinCaps CARE programs allows members of the Fort Wayne community that would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend a game to come out to Parkview Field. Cougars Announce 2017 Charitable Partners

GENEVA, Ill. – The Kane County Cougars have announced a community partnership for the 2017 season in which four local organizations will receive a portion of the in-game 50/50 raffle proceeds through the Kane County Cougars Foundation, Inc. The four organizations will be Alive Naperville (April-May), Holiday Heroes (June), Fox Valley Wildlife Center (July) and Food for Greater Elgin (August-September). In addition, through a partnership with Acres Group, the Cougars have announced that DuPage PADS will be the recipient of the charitable proceeds from this year’s Pitch-In for Charity promotion in which fans can purchase and toss numbered tennis balls at a target on the field to win a prize following select games.

Alive Naperville (alivenaperville.com) – Alive is a teen-led, teen-driven center that works to empower local youth to become leaders through after school and summer programs, classes and events that build confident and resilient teens.

Holiday Heroes (holiday-heroes.org) – In partnership with hospitals and businesses throughout the Chicagoland area, Holiday Heroes works to provide parties and celebrations for children who are suffering from critical or chronic illnesses.

Fox Valley Wildlife Center (fvwc.org) – Located in Elburn, Ill. the Fox Valley Wildlife Center serves the sick, injured or orphaned animals throughout Kane County and the surrounding areas.

Helping Hands: 2016 Power Donation Review

The annual Trick-or-Treat at Appalachian Power Park saw record attendance in 2016 with over 3,000 in attendance for the free event.

CHARLESTON, WV (February 16, 2017) – The West Virginia Power strive to build stronger relationships within the Kanawha Valley and surrounding communities. During the 2016 calendar year, the Power made donations totaling $93,800 through monetary, stadium events at Appalachian Power Park and in-kind contributions.

 

“We believe it is important to support the people in the community who support us,” said Ken Fogel, the Executive Vice President of the West Virginia Power. “We have the unique opportunity to work with a captive audience at the ballpark during the season and also help organizations raise funds through their own events.”

 

The most sizable donation was made to the American Red Cross in September. In response to the June floods, the Power worked with fans, vendors, sponsorship partners and the Pittsburgh Pirates to raise $51,115 for relief efforts. The club also made financial donations to a variety of charitable efforts like Thomas Health System’s Keys for Healthy Kids. Walks, charity functions and similar events are held at Appalachian Power Park each year, including the Polar Plunge, benefiting Special Olympics West Virginia, the Alzheimer’s Walk and Autism Awareness Day. The

Power once again hosted the BridgeValley Community and Technical College Pumpkin Drop, where 1,200 students from 38 schools converge through a fun engineering project. The club also hosts an annual trick-or-treat event each Halloween with the 2016 version being the most successful to date.

 

The West Virginia Power also fulfill a multitude of requests for donations throughout the each year. The club has donated items for auctions and raffles to organizations like Charleston Montessori School, Read Aloud WV, FestivALL, and the March of Dimes. The Power donated hundreds of game tickets in 2016, including 285 free tickets to veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Autographed items or merchandise are also popular donation requests and are used in raffles or auctions to raise money for a variety of charities.
