P-Nats and INOVA to Host Blood Drive at Pfitzner Stadium

Woodbridge, VA — The Potomac Nationals are proud to partner with INOVA for a blood drive at Pfitzner Stadium on Sunday, June 29th from noon to 4:00pm as a part of the P-Nats Good Deeds Night.

Fans who complete the donor screening process and donate blood will receive two grandstand tickets to the P-Nats game that night.

During the blood drive, the Nationals will have the Kids Zone open and Uncle Slam will also make an appearance.

Fort Wayne Military Members Celebrated at The Principal® Financial Dreams Tour

Come to Parkview Field July 14 for a Night to Remember

The Principal Financial Group^® and the TinCaps will honor members of the military and the outstanding contributions they make to our country and communities during the 2014 Principal^® Financial Dreams Tour on July 14 when Fort Wayne hosts South Bend at 7:05 p.m. The Tour will make 18 stops from coast-to-coast and will provide attendees with information to help them plan for a brighter financial future for themselves and their families.

The July 14 game will feature postgame fireworks presented by The Principal and is a U.S. Foods Family Feast night. TinCaps fans also will have the opportunity to meet major league legend Bill Buckner for an autograph and photo at the Principal Dreams Tour autograph table. Buckner spent 22 years in the Majors from 1969 through 1990, accumulating nearly 3,000 hits. He played for six teams during his career, including the Cubs, with whom he won the 1980 National League batting title.

Since 2004, The Principal^® has brought more than 450 events to minor league ballparks, attracting nearly two million fans. Past tours have given fans the chance to meet some of baseball’s biggest stars, including Steve Garvey, Dave Stewart, Tommy John, Rollie Fingers and Lee Smith, among others.

Playcation Package Returns on July 2nd

The Greenville Drive’s Playcation promotion has proven to be a huge hit in the Upstate since its founding in 2011. The Drive’s first playcation package of the 2014 season produced a sold out event on June 4^th, including a Drive game attendance record of 7,176 fans. As a result of this early success, the Drive have been working with its Playcation partners to set another date for 2014.

The Drive, along with The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, the Greenville Zoo and Greenville County Rec Waterparks and Pavilion, are pleased to announce that Wednesday, July 2^nd will serve as the second date for the Playcation package in 2014.

Storm Chasers to Accept Donations for Pilger Relief Tonight, Tomorrow

Fans can bring various suggested items or make cash/check donations

A week ago today the community and residents of Pilger, Nebraska were devastated by twin tornadoes, leaving many survivors without their homes and belongings. In a show of support for their fellow Nebraskan community, the Storm Chasers will ask fans attending tonight and tomorrow’s games to donate various items to be sent to the city that lies just over an hour and a half from Omaha.

Items that the Storm Chasers suggest to be donated by fans are totes, gloves, personal hygiene items, first aid supplies and non-perishable foods. No clothing is needed at this time.

The Storm Chasers will also accept cash donations at Werner Park through 2 p.m. Tuesday, as well as check donations that will go directly to aid the Pilger community. Checks should be made out to the Home Run Foundation of Greater Omaha. All donations, both monetary and physical, can be made outside of Werner Park near the Ticket Office.

As the relief effort continues and grows, the Storm Chasers will be participating and will alert fans to other ways they can get involved as well. Fans can follow the team and their community relations information on Facebook and Twitter to get updates.

Rattlers team up with Neuroscience Group

See MEGA Brain at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Friday, June 27!

Fans will see something at the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers game on Friday, June 27 that they have never seen at a Timber Rattlers game before…a gigantic MEGA Brain! It’s all part of Strike Out Stroke Night presented by Neuroscience Group and the Timber Rattlers.

The MEGA Brain provides visitors with a highly interactive educational experience about the central nervous system’s most critical organ. Visitors can step inside the 18 foot long by 14 foot wide by 12 foot high human brain, learn about the various structures and normal brain function, observe examples of brain trauma and disease, and view displays explaining some of the latest neurological medical treatments.

“We are so excited to be able to facilitate the Strike Out Stroke program, and to have the MEGA Brain available with which to educate people about the signs of a stroke,” said Cheryll Poissant, Director of Clinical Operations for the Neuroscience Group. “Our ultimate goal is to save lives through education and awareness.”

The MEGA Brain will be on display at Neuroscience Group’s main clinic located at 1305 W American Dr in Neenah on Friday, June 27 with Timber Rattlers players and Fang, the team mascot from 9:00am to noon. The MEGA Brain will be in front of the Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium beginning at 4:30pm on June 27.

Fans will also be able to stop by a Neuroscience Group information table on the main concourse for complimentary blood pressure screening.

“We’re very excited to partner with Neuroscience Group and Strike Out Stroke to help spread awareness about the signs of a stroke,” said Rob Zerjav, Timber Rattlers President. “We’re also excited to showcase the MEGA Brain to our fans as a way to further provide a memorable interactive educational experience.”

The game is also Peanut Free Night and North Shore Bank Family Night presented by Y100. No peanuts will be sold in the concession stands or allowed into the stadium as part of Peanut Free Night. For North Shore Bank Family Night, Children 12 and under receive a voucher that is good for a free hotdog and soda and children 14 and under may run the bases courtesy of Molina Healthcare after the postgame fireworks display.

Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium will be a No Peanuts Zone for Peanut Free Night on Friday, June 27.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers open the second half of their home schedule on Friday, June 27 with a special night. The Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers hosts the Burlington Bees with their sixth annual Peanut Free Night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

There will be no peanuts, peanut butter, or peanut based products allowed inside the stadium for the game to allow fans with peanut allergies to enjoy this Timber Rattlers game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm

“I know families with children who have peanut allergies,” said Timber Rattlers president Rob Zerjav. “They circle this date every year for an opportunity to come out to a game. We are extremely happy to host this game again.”

The stadium will be cleaned and rinsed before Peanut Free Night to remove as much peanut residue from the seats, the concourse, and other areas in the ballpark as possible. Even though peanuts and products made with nuts or peanut oil will not be sold, the Timber Rattlers cannot guarantee that all peanut residues will be out of the ballpark. However, every effort will be made for a peanut free environment.

This game is also North Shore Bank Family Night presented by Y100. Children 12 and under receive a voucher that is good for a free hotdog and soda. Children 14 and under may run the bases courtesy of Molina Healthcare after the postgame fireworks display.

P-Nats Military Night Auction To Benefit Wounded Warriors

The Potomac Nationals are turning Military Appreciation Night into a “can’t miss” event on Sunday, June 22^nd. In addition to honoring all military members, along with appearances by former Redskin Dexter Manley and Congressman Rob Wittman, the P-Nats will hold a silent auction during the game with dozens of iconic baseball memorabilia items thanks to Reality Realty and Mammoth Global Partners.

The centerpiece of the items is a Stephen Strasburg autographed inaugural game ticket collage, which will be raffled off for free for all military attendees. Other coveted items available for bid by the general public will be a Cal Ripken Jr. autographed bat and a signed Willie Mays photo and baseball. All of the money raised in the auction will go to Arms Outstretched Ministries benefitting the wounded warriors of Bethesda and Belvoir.

Star Wars Night, July 19, to Benefit Center for Building Hope

Marauders Will Wear Boba Fett Jerseys and Auction Them Off

The Bradenton Marauders will hold Star Wars Night on Saturday, July 19 when the team hosts the Clearwater Threshers at McKechnie Field. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Bradenton’s foray into a galaxy far, far away will help benefit the Center for Building Hope in the fight against Cancer.

The Marauders will dress in jerseys custom made to resemble the uniform of iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett. The jerseys will be auctioned off in a silent auction held during the game to benefit the Center for Building Hope. Auction winners will be invited onto the field after the game to receive their jersey and have it autographed by the player of coach wearing it.

A survivor’s walk around the warning track will be held at 5:45 to recognize all cancer survivors in attendance. A charity balloon pop is also being held during the game to benefit the Center for Building Hope. Fans will be able to pay $10 or $20 to pop a balloon and receive the prize that corresponds to the chosen balloon.

Fans can get pictures with their favorite Star Wars characters at picturesque McKechnie Field. A full cast of costumed characters will be in attendance. The Marauders also encourage their fans to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters. A costume contest will be held in the sixth inning to determine the best dressed.

The McKechnie Field ticket office is open on non-gamedays Tuesday-Friday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. On Monday-Friday gamedays the ticket office is open from noon until the conclusion of the game. The ticket office opens two hours before Saturday, Sunday, and morning games. The Charleston RiverDogs will host their 15^th Annual “Kindness Beats Blindness RP Auction” on Saturday, June 21, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The RiverDogs, fresh off their All-Star break, will face the Kannapolis Intimidators with the first pitch set for 6:05 pm.

Tampa Yankees Recognize HOPE Week

The Tampa Yankees will be participating in HOPE Week (Helping Others Preserve & Excel) during the week of June 19-24, 2014. HOPE Week is a New York Yankees initiative designed to reach out to remarkable people who are worthy of recognition for their inspiring actions and support of their communities.

The Tampa Yankees players and staff will be visiting patients and their families at local area hospitals including:

All Children’s Hospital

The Tampa based minor league Yankees players will also be visiting the Children’s Home: a child-and family-centered organization that is positioned to care for struggling families and children seeking the comfort of a loving family.

Girl Scouts Day on Sunday

SC Mountains to Midlands troops recognized at Fluor Field

The Drive will honor the Girl Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands on Sunday, June 22^nd to conclude the four-game series against the Savannah Sand Gnats.

The game begins at 4:05, but the action starts with Scouts receiving a commemorative patch and participating in a pregame parade around the warning track at 3:15, with participating troops getting their name displayed on DriveVision.

The fun continues during the game with between innings entertainment and an “education adventure challenge”, and scouts will lead BlueCross BlueShield Kids Run the Bases postgame.

Sunday is not just for Girl Scouts, so head to Fluor Field to support the Drive and the Girl Scouts for all they’ve accomplished so far this year.

G-Braves Team Up with Vs. Cancer Foundation

Gwinnett players, coaches, front office members to raise funds to cure kids’ cancer

The Gwinnett Braves announced a partnership with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to Cure Kids’ Cancer. G-Braves’ players, coaches and front office staff members are participating in fundraising efforts for the foundation, culminating with “G-Braves Vs. Cancer Night” at Coolray Field on Saturday, August 30.

If the Gwinnett Braves raise their collective team goal of $10,000 by August 30, then select players, coaches and front office members will shave their heads prior to the 7:05 PM game against Charlotte. G-Braves’ field manager Brian Snitker, already sporting the shaved-head look, has pledged to shave off his trademark mustache if the goal is reached.

Fans can donate now by going online to gbraves.vs-cancer.org. Half of all proceeds will benefit national childhood cancer research, and the other half will help kids directly with the Rally Foundation.

Gwinnett’s fundraising efforts are part of a larger “Baseball Vs. Cancer 2014” campaign. A total of 128 teams across the minor league, collegiate, high school and youth ranks are taking part, with a total goal of $750,000.

The Pawtucket Red Sox are pleased to announce that they will host The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity All-Star Softball Classic, featuring Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, at McCoy Stadium on Sunday, August 10 at 6:05 pm. Gates will open at 4:30 pm and the game, between the Magic Johnson/Jeffrey Osborne All-Stars and the New England Patriots Alumni Celebrity All-Stars, will be played at 6:05 pm. Fisher Cats, Citizens Bank ‘Taking the Show’ to Manchester South

The Fisher Cats and Citizens Bank announced today that Manchester South Little League has been chosen as the inaugural winner in the ‘Take the Show on the Road’ promotion. Through a partnership with Citizens Bank, the Fisher Cats will bring their entertainment experience to the fields of Manchester South on Saturday, June 21. Three other leagues – Londonderry Athletic and Field Association (LAFA), Concord Little League, and Hollis/Brookline Cal Ripken – have been awarded consolation prizes based upon the sportsmanship qualities represented by their leagues.

“We received a number of outstanding entries, detailing how the leagues in New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts are not only developing outstanding athletes, but outstanding young people through their programs,” said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. “These tales of sportsmanship and integrity highlight the best of youth sports. We are excited to bring our show to Manchester South for a great day of baseball and family fun later this month.”

On June 21, the Fisher Cats will bring their inflatable games, mascot, PA announcer, promo team, and turf manager to the Manchester South Little League Farm League All-Star Game at Precourt Park off South Willow Street. The first 200 fans to attend the game will also receive a Fisher Cats hat courtesy of Citizens Bank.

As consolation prizes, LAFA will receive a free night in a luxury suite at a Fisher Cats game this summer. Concord and Hollis/Brookline each will receive 25 tickets to a game with a VIP Stadium Tour.

Before the Fisher Cats head to Manchester South, the team will be home for a three-game homestand June 17-19 against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates). The series features a baseball giveaway and an Atlas Fireworks Show after the final game on the 19th. Tri-City ValleyCats Host First Ever Education Day

ValleyCats integrate education, anti-bullying as it relates to baseball

The Tri City ValleyCats will host its first ever Education Day at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Tuesday, June 17 at 10 a.m. to support the organization’s mission to create “Fans for Life” in a safe and clean environment.

The ValleyCats created a curriculum that includes character development and anti-bullying facets, as well as traditional educational subject matter as it relates to the game of baseball. This curriculum was available online to schools throughout the Capital Region this spring and will culminate in an all-encompassing educational field trip when the ValleyCats host the Lowell Spinners.

The ValleyCats existing “Strike Out Bullying” program, with BlueShield of Northeastern New York, focuses on educating students about the importance of treating others equally and standing up for their peers. This has included in-school assemblies and students attending Education Day will be encouraged to recite the ValleyCats “Peace Pledge” as a part of the day’s curriculum.

“We are very excited to host this first-time event at the stadium,” Assistant General Manager Matt Callahan said. “Our team has tried to create an event where students have the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, spend time with peers and enjoy an educational day at the ballpark.”

Additional activities will provide students with real world applications in the areas of mathematics, history and geography. Several local organizations have supported this initiative and helped make these field trips possible for Capital Region schools. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is a lead partner for the Education Day event and supports educational opportunities throughout the area.

Additional support was provided by Transfinder in support of Schenectady schools and St. Peter’s Health Partners’ Sexual Assault & Crime Victims Assistance Program in a partnership with several Rensselaer County Schools.
