Bisons to hold Food Service Hiring Event, Aug. 3

 

The Buffalo Bisons will hold a HIRING EVENT for seasonal food service employment at Sahlen Field on Tuesday, August 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the ballpark’s Consumer’s Pub at the Park restaurant.

Interested applicants should enter the ballpark through the restaurant entrance on the Washington St. side of the ballpark.

The Bisons will be hiring for concession stand managers, cooks, cashiers, commissary workers and porters to work during Buffalo Bisons baseball games at Sahlen Field. The Bisons return home Tuesday, August 10 for a 23-game home schedule that runs through Sunday, September 26.

Submit Your Favorite Teacher for a Neon Apple Award

 

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Fireflies are partnering with T-Mobile to present the first ever Neon Apple Awards. Three Midlands teachers, one elementary, one middle and one high school teacher, will be selected to win the honor on Teacher Appreciation Night presented by T-Mobile at Segra Park August 12. The Fireflies are asking fans to nominate their favorite teachers in the Midlands for the award.

Winning teachers will be recognized during the game and will receive two complimentary tickets to the August 12 game at Segra Park plus a monetary donation from T-Mobile to go towards classroom supplies needed for the upcoming school year.

“Teachers are a critical piece of the very fabric of our community and we are proud to partner with T-Mobile on presenting the first ever Neon Apple Awards,” said Fireflies Director of Marketing Ashlie DeCarlo. “This is a great opportunity to honor our classroom heroes at Segra Park and we are looking forward to.”

Partnership Encourages Student Vaccinations August 3 & 5

 

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Hammons Field will be the host of the “Knock COVID Out of the Park” Vaccination Drives, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, during the Tuesday, August 3 and Thursday, August 5 games. This is a partnership between Springfield Public Schools (SPS), Springfield Cardinals, Springfield-Greene County Health Department, Mercy and Foundation for Springfield Public Schools.

The events are available for area students, ages 12 and up, and each student vaccinated at these drives will receive two free tickets to that night’s game, courtesy of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. All students receiving the vaccine must have a parent or legal guardian with them.

Any fan who would like more information about the COVID-19 vaccines will be able to learn more during the events from representatives with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Mercy and Springfield Greene-County Health Department.

Check-in for the vaccinations will be located on the Main Plaza, right outside of Gate 3 at Hammons Field, with vaccines available for two hours starting when gates open each night. In addition to the two free tickets, eligible students who get the vaccine during these drives will receive a free backpack or duffel bag while supplies last, courtesy of Foundation for Springfield Public Schools.

Tuesday, August 3 Vaccine Drive details:

· Tuesday’s vaccine drive will go from 5:35 p.m. – 7:35 p.m.

· This game is also a Great Southern Bank $1 Dog Day, with hot dogs available all night for just a buck.

· First Pitch is 6:35 p.m. vs. the Tulsa Drillers.

Thursday, August 5 Vaccine Drive details:

· Thursday’s vaccine drive will go from 6:05 p.m. – 8:05 p.m.

· This game is also a Klement’s $1 Bratwurst Night, with Klement’s brats available all night for just a buck.

· First Pitch is 7:05 p.m. vs. the Tulsa Drillers.

“As we look ahead, vaccinations are an important tool in helping students who participate in sports or other extracurricular activities have an uninterrupted experience,” said Josh Scott, director of athletics for SPS. “If vaccinated and asymptomatic, students will not have to quarantine if a fellow team member tests positive. If enough of our students are vaccinated, that can make the difference between a team remaining viable or being sidelined by COVID-19.”

Drive, Prisma Partner on Next COVID-19 Vaccination Event August 5

 

The Greenville Drive, in partnership with Prisma Health, are set to host the latest COVID-19 vaccination event at Fluor Field this coming Thursday August 5th as part of the Drive’s game against the Rome Braves. This will be the 4th vaccination event hosted at Fluor Field this season as the Drive, together with their long-time partner Prisma Health, set out to educate and protect the community from the ongoing challenges brought about by COVID-19.

With virus variants emerging and COVID once again surging in the community, getting vaccinated is more important than ever for the health & safety of our community.

The latest vaccination event at Fluor Field next Thursday will take place from 6-8pm in the Power Alley hospitality area of the ballpark, directly inside the Main Street entrance to the stadium. No appointments are needed; vaccinations will be offered on a walk-up basis and administered by officials with Prisma Health. The Pfizer vaccine will be administered free of charge; those 12 years of age or older, needing their first or second dose, will be eligible. For those needing their second dose, it must be a minimum of three weeks since their first dose, but no later than six weeks.

To help encourage participation, all of those that get vaccinated at Fluor Field will receive a complimentary ice cream at the Drive’s destination ice cream stand Sweet Caroline’s as well as a complimentary ticket to any remaining 2021 regular season game.

Autism Acceptance Night presented by Unum – Early Entry Tours

 

As part of Autism Acceptance Night taking place on Saturday, July 31, the WooSox will offer early entrance paired with a Polar Park tour for families and groups with autistic individuals who plan to attend that evening’s game. Early entry will begin at 1:00 PM and can be accessed by Gate C. Fans will be required to show a ticket for that evening’s game, with the tour being a free addition, highlighting Polar Park’s sensory-friendly areas and accommodations. OKC Dodgers and OHSO Aim to ENDUI and Educate via “Road to the Show” Promotion

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Dodgers are partnering with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office on the “Road to the Show” promotion, offering fans the chance to become an OKC Dodger for a day by encouraging them to share why they want to ENDUI.

From now through early September, fans can register for the opportunity to become a Dodger for a day with one lucky winner being invited to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in September for an ultimate OKC Dodgers experience. The winner receives a customized Dodgers jersey, additional Dodger swag, gets to spend time on the field, throw out the first pitch and enjoy that night’s baseball game with exclusive club seats and access to the Oklahoma Fidelity Bank Club for food and drinks.

Indiana Donor Network to Host Free Movie Night at Four Winds Field August 14

 

SOUTH BEND, IN – As summer winds down and kids head back to school, enjoy one more fun-filled family weekend at Four Winds Field with a free movie night, presented by Indiana Donor Network. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m. The featured presentation will be the gridiron classic, Remember the Titans, starring Denzel Washington.

Tickets to this event are free, but must be claimed by Noon on Friday, August 13. To claim your free tickets, visit the South Bend Cubs box office or click here. Tickets will not be available on the day of the event. Seating is general admission and fans will be able to sit in the seating bowl or the outfield grass. Lawn chairs and umbrellas are prohibited but fans are welcome to bring blankets if they plan to sit on the grass.

Promo Schedule Update: Fireworks Moved to August 21st; August 4th Remains Breast Cancer Awareness Night With Beach Bag Giveaway

 

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The post-game fireworks originally set for Wednesday, August 4th have been rescheduled for Saturday, August 21st, though the remaining promotions set for August 4th remain as scheduled. Fans with tickets to the game on August 4th that would like to enjoy a post-game fireworks show can both use the tickets on August 4th and show them at the Box Office for a ticket to a future game.

August 4th is Breast Cancer Awareness Night, presented by New Jersey Natural Gas. The first 1,500 fans receive a BlueClaws Beach Bag, which will be handed out when the gates open at 6:00 pm.

WooSox Bring Back Free Vaccines on Remaining Los Wepas de Worcester Nights

Club teams up with City of Worcester;

J&J vaccines will be available, along with Pfizer vaccines for ages 12-17

WORCESTER, MA – After partnering with the City of Worcester to successfully administer 275 vaccines at Polar Park earlier this season, the Worcester Red Sox will again make more vaccines available for fans at Polar Park during six of their remaining home games this season—all of which are “Los Wepas de Worcester” dates, when the WooSox change their uniforms and identity to enhance outreach to the Latino and Hispanic communities.

The games are this coming Tuesday, July 27 at 6:35 pm vs. Buffalo, Sunday, August 1 at 1:05 pm vs. Buffalo, Friday, August 13 at 6:35 pm vs. Syracuse, Saturday, August 14 at 4:05 pm vs. Syracuse, Wednesday, August 18 at 6:35 pm vs. Scranton/WB, and Tuesday, September 7 at 6:35 pm vs. Lehigh Valley.

Anyone who wishes to receive a vaccine during these select home games will be given a complimentary General Admission ticket to that day’s game at the Ticket Office, along with a free WooSox cap, and they’ll be guided by a WooSox ambassador to the concourse at Polar Park where the vaccines will be administered by City of Worcester health officials. Fans who already have tickets to these games and would like a vaccine can simply check in with any WooSox staff member when gates open.

“Roughly 35% of Worcester’s Hispanic and Latino population have been fully vaccinated here in the city, and we must continue to do everything we can to get our community vaccinated,” said Dr. Matilde Castiel, Commissioner of Health & Human Services for the City of Worcester. “We are grateful that the WooSox continue to open their doors at Polar Park for members of our community, and we also look forward to providing a vaccine for anyone who still needs to get a vaccine.”

The WooSox and the City of Worcester will now be offering a Pfizer vaccine for anyone ages 12 and older. When vaccines were administered at Polar Park during the club’s first homestand in June, only a one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine was available for those 18 and older, and the WooSox and City of Worcester look forward to using the Pfizer vaccine to reach a broader age group.

“We’re not out of the woods yet and we’re keeping an eye on the case count and of course the Delta variant,” said Mayor Joseph M. Petty. “Our response has been a whole-of-government response and that means engaging with our non-profit and business community, like our partners at the Worcester Red Sox, to make sure that everyone in our community is getting vaccinated. I want to thank Larry Lucchino and Dr. Steinberg for joining us in our commitment to getting through this pandemic.”

On Tuesday, May 4 the Seattle Mariners became the first Major League Baseball team in the country to offer vaccines for their fans during games at T-Mobile Park, and successfully administered 160 shots during their game against the Baltimore Orioles. The WooSox were proud to be among the first Minor League Baseball teams in the country to administer vaccines to their fans during games at Polar Park in the beginning of June.

¡Wepa! is a Spanish expression of excitement and happiness. The concept of naming the team after the popular phrase came from Worcester resident Daniel Velazquez at a WooSox Fan Plan Meeting on February 13, 2020 at Centro Inc. in Worcester.

UMass Memorial Health, the official healthcare provider of the Worcester Red Sox, will have paramedics on site as they do for every WooSox home game to offer any support needed.

JPMorgan Chase and the Blue Rocks Partner to Honor Essential Businesses, Non-Profits, and First Responders

 

Wilmington DE – JPMorgan Chase and the Wilmington Blue Rocks have announced that they are partnering to honor businesses and non-profits that stayed open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as first responders who continue to serve the public’s needs.

During each of the remaining 24 home games in 2021, one business, non-profit or group of first responders will be recognized for their unwavering commitment and hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Honorees will receive free tickets and access to a 20-person suite donated by Chase. They will also be honored on the field before the game. Organizations in healthcare, hospitality, grocery, home improvement, retail, banking and other industries can be nominated for this honor.

As part of the promotion, hospitality workers will have another opportunity to receive complimentary tickets to any Blue Rocks game, courtesy of Chase. For the entire month of August, hospitality workers can present a recent pay stub at the Christiana Care Box Office at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium and receive two tickets to any home game that month, based on availability. Firefighters, police officers, and EMTs can also take part in this promotion by showing their pay stubs at the Christiana Care Box Office during any game in September.

Sea Unicorns Host “Salute to Health Care Workers” on Saturday, July 24 on NESN

 

(Norwich, CT) – The Norwich Sea Unicorns are hosting “Salute to Health Care Workers” Saturday, July 24 at 12 pm when they take on the Westfield Starfires in a game that will air live on NESN. Tickets for all health care workers and their families are $2 with a valid health care employee ID.

M-Braves to host Autism Awareness Day on Sunday at Trustmark Park

 

PEARL, MS – The Mississippi Braves have partnered with William Carey University to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against Autism this Sunday, July 22, when the M-Braves host the Biloxi Shuckers at 2:05 pm.

Mississippi Braves players and coaches will wear special Autism Awareness jerseys, featuring the Braves logo across the chest with Autism Awareness puzzle pieces. A silent auction will be held at Trustmark Park beginning when gates open at 1:00 pm for fans to bid on each player and coach’s jersey. The current M-Braves roster features 11 of the Atlanta Braves top 30 prospects, including 2019 first-round selections Shea Langeliers and Braden Shewmake. Immediately following the game, players will autograph their jerseys for the auction winners. In addition, the jerseys will be signed by the player that wears them. The silent auction will end after the last out of the 6th inning.

Proceeds to the jersey auction will benefit TEAAM, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Mississippians with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, or Specific Learning Disabilities by cultivating and enhancing family and community supports.

“TEAAM has been honored to support the autism community now for more than two decades,” added Dr. Mark H. Yeager, executive director of TEAAM Autism. “We have just completed our 21st summer of providing summer camp fun for youth and adults with autism. Segra Stadium To Host 3rd Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

 

The 3rd Annual Fayetteville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held on the morning of Saturday, September 11th at Segra Stadium. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the climb will start at 8:47 a.m.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters, police, and EMS who selflessly gave their lives on that tragic day. Each participant will pay tribute to those brave souls by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through community participation we can ensure that each of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 10 EMS are never forgotten.

Registration fees are $30 per person and include your entry to the climb and a t-shirt. Anyone interested in climbing MUST REGISTER ONLINE by September 8th. We will accept walk-up registration; however, t-shirts cannot be guaranteed for anyone registering day of. Check-in and registration for the event will begin at 7:00 a.m. All proceeds from the stair climb will benefit programs provided by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to support the families of your local fallen firefighters and the FDNY Counseling Services Unit.

Gwinnett Stripers Award $2,500 July Grant to Gwinnett Coalition

 

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Gwinnett Stripers, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves Foundation, have awarded their $2,500 July grant to the Gwinnett Coalition and its Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center.

The Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center (GVRC) seeks to meet the needs of veterans and their military families by providing information, referrals, and resources in a welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice to our country.

The Stripers selected the Gwinnett Coalition to receive the July “Military” themed grant. The $2,500 grant will be utilized by the Gwinnett Coalition in the GVRC’s Gift Card Program. To address food insecurity and prevent loss of transportation (which can cause job loss), the GVRC assists veterans and their families with gift cards to purchase food and gas. Veterans who receive gift cards for specific purchases are required to submit receipts showing that the card was used for the purpose for which it was given.

“We are grateful to the Gwinnett Stripers for this generous contribution to our efforts to help Gwinnett veterans in need,” said Renee Byrd-Lewis, Executive Director of Gwinnett Coalition. “Everyone needs the basics, like food and gas, a roof over their head, to be safe, to belong, and to live to their full potential. Those who’ve served our country have sacrificed so much and when our veterans fall on hard times, we owe it to them to step in and give them the support they need. Thanks to this grant we will be able to connect more veterans and their families to a wealth of resources that will enable them to thrive.”

Representatives from the Gwinnett Coalition received the grant from the Stripers during the “Red, White, & BOOM Patriotic Celebration” on July 9.

About the Gwinnett Stripers Grant Program: The Stripers will award four $2,500 grants to different nonprofits in 2021, with each month focusing on a different category of nonprofit organizations aligning with the Atlanta Braves Foundation’s pillars of “Live, Learn, Play, and Serve.” The four categories are Service-oriented programs (June), Military programs (July), Youth programs (August), and Health and Wellness programs (September). Grant applications were collected through May 14. Each grant recipient will be recognized during a Stripers home game at Coolray Field in 2021.

Brandy Warehime to Celebrate “Home Run For Life” 

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Dodgers and INTEGRIS Health continue the “Home Run For Life” series Saturday by honoring Brandy Warehime of Weatherford, Okla., during the Dodgers’ 6:05 p.m. game against the Sugar Land Skeeters at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

While driving on the John Kilpatrick Turnpike in March 2018, Warehime lost control of her car and spun three times before her car rolled four times. The then-24-year-old was ejected from the vehicle and thrown about 70 feet, suffering extensive injuries.

Her journey to recovery involved almost three months in hospitals and care centers, concluding with three weeks at INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation where she started to resume everyday activities before finally returning home.

“My learning and starting to live life normal were all done at Jim Thorpe,” she said. “I remember my first therapist helping me put on a pair of pants, which seems so small, but at the time it was such a big thing because I hadn’t had pants on in a long time. I remember getting to stand up and getting to learn how to walk and start doing all the things that were normal and I wanted to be back to myself as soon as possible.

“The words thank you can never be enough to every single therapist that helped me along the way.”

“Home Run For Life” recognizes individuals in the Oklahoma City community who have overcome a significant medical event with the help of their families, physicians and health care professionals. To symbolize the end of their battle against adversity, honorees take a prerecorded home run “lap” around the bases during an in-game ceremony.

“’Home Run For Life’ allows us to uniquely recognize some amazing Oklahomans who have endured significant health challenges,” OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. “Each month during the baseball season, we are proud to partner with INTEGRIS Health to honor the perseverance and courage displayed by these individuals and to help inspire others with their incredible stories.”

Warehime was driving westbound on the John Kilpatrick Turnpike and went to take the May Avenue exit in north Oklahoma City when she lost control of her car and spun three times before her car rolled four times

She was ejected from the vehicle and thrown about 70 feet, breaking her clavicle, scapula, pelvis, 12 ribs and her femur. She shattered her back and thoracic spine. She suffered a stroke, coma and a traumatic brain injury.

During surgery, doctors learned she had a stroke. Then following the surgery she didn’t wake up for eight days.

“I have two rods and four screws in my leg and I have two rods and 12 screws in my back holding me together now,” she said.

At INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation, she re-learned how to do everyday activities like put on clothes and shower.

Warehime said she never wanted to stop trying. She never missed a therapy session and persevered.

“I just kept going and kept trying,” she said. “All of my therapists, we’re still friends to this day. They were incredible people and that’s why I get to be where I am right now.”

Now more than three years later, Warehime is enjoying life with a new perspective thanks to the care she received at INTEGRIS Health. She married her husband Jake in June 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the couple is now expecting their first child.

“Life has changed a lot since my accident,” Warehime said. “You enjoy the little things, so I take life a little bit slower…Find time to (do things) because you are not promised tomorrow…Now we are so excited because we will be welcoming our sweet little baby in February.”

The OKC Dodgers continue their homestand and open a six-game series tonight against the Sugar Land Skeeters at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Promotional highlights of the series, include:

• Sunday: Kids can run the bases following each Sunday home game throughout the Oklahoma City Dodgers’ season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

• Tuesday: Throughout the season, $2 Tuesdays feature $2 select beer, soda and bottled water from a line of Budweiser and Pepsi products. COOP Ale Works draft beer will also be available at a special rate of $3. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
