Gwinnett Stripers to Host Virtual National Anthem Auditions

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Gwinnett Stripers are once again launching a virtual search for National Anthem performers.

All interested singers, vocal groups (five singers or less), and musicians can send a digital submission (video or audio) of their acapella or unaccompanied performance of the National Anthem to [email protected] by January 31.

Candidates will be judged on tone, pace (90 seconds or less), and clarity. Beginning in February, top candidates will be invited to participate in virtual auditions. No in-person auditions will be held. Those who have been chosen from the virtual auditions will be contacted to schedule a date to sing the National Anthem during the 2022 season.

Jumbo Shrimp invite local students to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in essay contest

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In anticipation of Black History Month in February, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are inviting students to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in the club’s annual essay writing contest.

In their essays, students will be asked to reflect on what Dr. King’s seminal “I Have a Dream” speech means to them. The winning students will receive Jumbo Shrimp prizes, as well as free tickets for their entire class to attend a 2022 Jumbo Shrimp regular season game at 121 Financial Ballpark.

“This contest provides a wonderful platform to encourage young writers to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to share their impressive writing with our community. The judges and I look forward to reading this year’s submissions,” said Jumbo Shrimp executive vice president/general manager Harold Craw.

The Jumbo Shrimp’s essay contest is open to all K-12 students in Duval County, Clay County and St. Johns County. Submissions will be divided into three categories (Grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12, respectively). The contest will begin on Martin Luther King Jr. Day at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 17. All entries should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 18 to [email protected], and must include the student’s name, age, grade and school. The submissions will be reviewed by a panel of local judges and the winners will be announced on Friday, February 25.

M-Braves to host Job Fair on Saturday, January 29

PEARL – The Mississippi Braves will hold a job fair for part-time/seasonal positions for the 2022 season on Saturday, January 29, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The job fair will take place inside Trustmark Park’s Farm Bureau Grill. M-Braves staff members will conduct open interviews on a first-come, first-serve basis for seasonal, part-time positions.

Applicants should be energetic, friendly, dependable, and ready to contribute to the family atmosphere of Trustmark Park. The M-Braves will play 69 home games in 2022, with Opening Day set for Friday, April 8, vs. Montgomery at 6:35 pm.

National Anthem Auditions

Bradenton, Fla. – The Pittsburgh Pirates are accepting auditions for the National Anthem. Anyone interested in singing The Star Spangled Banner or O Canada prior to a Pirates Spring Training game in 2022 may submit a video or a YouTube link to be considered. Prospective singers must feel comfortable performing in front of a camera and performing in front of audiences of 7,000 people or more. Submissions are also open to choirs. All submissions must be conducted a cappella.

Pirates employees will watch the videos and determine which performers to invite to fill open spots in the Spring Training schedule. Contestants that wish to sing the Canadian National Anthem before the Pirates game against Toronto are welcome to sing O Canada as well. Participants that submit videos but are not selected will have their information kept on file for potential anthem openings during the Bradenton Marauders season.

Read With Ballplayers January 15 At The Bodacious Bookstore!

In conjunction with Fish Fest at Blue Wahoos Stadium, Miami Marlins prospects Jordan McCants and Jeff Lindgren will visit the Bodacious Bookstore and Café on Saturday, January 15 for a morning of family-friendly fun at Books With Ballplayers! From 11:00 AM until noon, McCants, Lindgren, and Blue Wahoos mascot Kazoo will read with children in attendance and participate in a question and answer session. The event is free to the public. Interested participants are encouraged to arrive early as space is limited.

In accordance with Major League Baseball health and safety protocols, face masks are required for all guests at Books With Ballplayers.

The Bodacious Bookstore and Café opened in August 2019 at 110 E. Intendencia Street in downtown Pensacola offering a wide selection of books for both children and adults, a children’s area highlighted by a replica lighthouse, and a full menu of coffee, tea, smoothies, and café-style food.

Following the Books With Ballplayers event, McCants and Lindgren will head to Blue Wahoos Stadium for the first annual Fish Fest event at Blue Wahoos Stadium. Held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, the event will feature autographs, question and answer sessions, a yard sale, behind-the-scenes tours, and more. Concessions Fundraising Program Returns For 2022 Season

AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Sod Poodles, in conjunction with Diamond Creations, the team’s food and beverage provider, are excited for the return of their Concessions Fundraising Program to the community for the 2022 season. The initiative offers a unique fundraising opportunity for non-profit groups through concession stand sales at HODGETOWN.

Non-profit or 501(c)(3) groups, sporting clubs, cheer groups, girl and boy scout troops, church and school organizations, and more are encouraged to join and easily meet fundraising goals through concession sales during the 2022 Sod Poodles baseball season.

To fundraise, groups simply provide individuals to work in a concession stand, and, in turn, earn money for their organization. Groups are not limited on how many games they work throughout the 69 home-game season. All dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Swoop & Stu’s Reading Club Returns for 2022

SOUTH BEND, IN – With winter break over and many schools resuming class, the South Bend Cubs are proud to announce the return of Swoop & Stu’s Reading Club, presented by Indiana 811 and NIPSCO. Teachers and administrators have until February 7 to register.

Swoop and Stu’s Reading Club is an incentive-based reading program where teachers set goals for their students to match the reading levels in their classroom. Each goal corresponds with a base on a baseball diamond and intended to last four weeks. The program begins March 2 to coincide with National Read Across America Day established by the National Education Association (NEA).

Students will be rewarded with prizes from the South Bend Cubs and local businesses for each goal completed. After students complete all four bases, they will receive a complimentary ticket to a South Bend Cubs home game, valid for the school’s designated Reading Club Night.

Registration is open until February 7 with packets scheduled to be delivered to participating schools the week of February 21. South Bend Cubs mascots Stu and Swoop will make appearances to selected schools who participate in the program. Due to the number of requests, appearances are limited.

GRAND CHUTE, WI – There are less than 90 days until Opening Night for the 2022 Wisconsin Timber Rattlers season and the team needs your help to provide a fun atmosphere during events at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Part-time, game day positions are available for energetic and responsible people during the upcoming season. Applications are available at the business office Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm or on the team’s website.

There are openings in all departments, but the team is in special need of ushers, food & beverage workers, parking attendants, and ticket office and Snake Pit Team Store personnel. The Timber Rattlers are particularly interested in people who can begin in April. Applicants must turn 16 years of age on or before April 8, 2022.

Want to work at one of the best ballparks in all of Minor League Baseball? Now you can! With Opening Day at Fluor Field scheduled for Friday, April 8th, as well as college and high school games, and hundreds of events, the Greenville Drive and West End Events at Fluor Field are hiring game day and seasonal team members for 2022.

The Drive and West End Events will be hosting a pair of upcoming Job Fairs – Wednesday, February 9th from 5:30 to 7:30, and Saturday, February 19th from 10 AM to 1 PM. Entrance for the Job Fair will be through the Main Street Gate at Fluor Field.

Those wishing to attend either of the dates are highly encouraged to pre-register by CLICKING HERE.

By pre-registering, you’ll get to skip the waiting line and interview with a Drive or West End Events front office staff member immediately upon checking in. All interested applicants must be at least 16-years-of-age.

  • This is a new position for the 2022 season, in conjunction with the installation of pitch clocks, MiLB-wide. Close attention must be paid to the baseball game, with proper signaling with the umpires with regards to pitch clock operation.
  • Game Photographers
  • Tasked with capturing pre-game and in-game action shots of players and coaches, as well as photos of fans and partnership fulfillments as assigned. Photography experience and owning photography equipment is a must.
  • Bat Boy/Girl
  • This position works in the home and visiting dugouts pre-game, in-game and post-game. Must be able to retrieve bats and various equipment for both teams during games. Will assist in setup of both dugouts pre-game with water, Gatorade, etc., and assist with post-game clean-up of both dugouts.
  • Merchandise
  • Game Day Sales
  • Assist in game day operations at the Drive retail locations – Main Street Store, 3rd Base Store, 1st Base Kiosk. This includes setting up for each game, restocking product, cleaning and organizing retail locations and displays, and assisting all customers at point-of-sale.
  • Ground Crew
  • Game Day Members
  • Assist the Head Groundskeeper with pre- and post-game duties. The job entails physical labor with responsibilities that include – but limited to – dragging the infield, repairing the mound, home plate, and bullpen areas, and pulling the tarp during rain delays.

  • Must be at least 18 years old (tipped position)

  • Understanding of HACCP and DHEC food principles, previous cash handling experience, ability to multitask, make good decisions, good communication with employees, volunteer groups and fans
  • Prep Cooks
  • Cook food for designated areas according stand sheets, game attendance projections; perform opening and closing procedures for cooking equipment in designated stands; utilize HACCP and DHEC hot and cold holding principles for all food
  • Bartenders
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for designated bar area, serve drinks, cash handling, pre and post game cleaning of designated bar (tipped position)
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Team members are not expected to work all Drive and amateur games, and West End Events. The Drive are flexible with scheduling. The Red Wings Food and Beverage Department are in search of highly motivated and customer-orientated employees to join their food and beverage team for the 2022 season! The Open Interview Day is Saturday, February 26 from 10 am – 2 pm.

The Red Wings will be hiring the following: concessions workers, picnic staff, suite attendants, suite runners, kitchen, and warehouse positions.

Internship Fair Takes Place at Segra Park January 19

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Fireflies will be hosting a pair of internship fairs Wednesday, January 19 from 9:30 am-11:30 am and 2:30 pm-4:30 pm. The team will take resumes for internships to be filled during the 2022 season at the fairs. After reviewing the resumes, the Fireflies will contact applicants the week following the fair.

Both sessions are drop-in sessions. All college students searching for internships are able to visit the fair without an appointment for either session. Students should come prepared with resumes and dressed professionally for interviews.

The internship programs with the Fireflies are built to satisfy any university credit requirements that may be needed to graduate. Non-students can also apply for the learning experience.

There are two classes of internship that need to be filled: entry level and a limited number of specialized internships.

Registration Underway for National Anthem Tryouts

DAYTON, OHIO – A traditional sign that baseball season is just around the corner in the Miami Valley is National Anthem Tryouts, presented by the Dayton Daily News. Auditions for this summer’s national anthem performers will be VIRTUAL on the Dragons website.

Audition videos, which are being accepted in lieu of in-person auditions this year, can be submitted beginning Monday, January 10, and should be uploaded at www.daytondragons.com/nationalanthem.

Finalists will perform the national anthem at Dragons games throughout the season, with the grand prize winner performing on Opening Day 2022 before the Dragons host the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Friday, April 8 at 7:05 p.m.

In addition, 25 national anthem finalists will be selected to not only sing to a sold-out crowd at Day Air Ballpark, but also to the entire Miami Valley region! These individuals or groups will perform LIVE on the Dragons television broadcast for 25 games during the 2022 season – games are broadcast on WDTN’s Dayton CW.

Deadline to apply is Friday, February 11, 2022.

COLUMBIA, SC – COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia Fireflies will be hosting a job fair at Segra Park Saturday, January 22 from 10 am to 2 pm. The team is looking to fill approximately 300 seasonal and part-time positions for the upcoming season.

“Seasonal and part-time workers are a critical part of our game day operations at Segra Park,” said President Brad Shank. “Our game day team is such an important part of providing our fans with a fantastic experience every time they come through the gates.”

The Fireflies will be hiring positions in the following departments:

· Ballpark Operations

· Food and Beverage

· Ticketing

· Marketing

· Merchandise

· Fan Engagement

New applicants are encouraged to download an application at ColumbiaFireflies.com (found under the ‘About Us’ and ‘Employment’ tabs) and bring it with them to the job fair.

Returning applicants are encouraged to download the returning employee application, which can also be found at ColumbiaFireflies.com (under the ‘About Us’ and ‘Employment’ tabs), and bring it with them to the job fair.

Anyone who is unable to attend the job fair is encouraged to scan and email his or her application to [email protected].
