“One Team” Shirts On Sale to Benefit Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

ROUND ROCK, Texas – One state, one team. The Round Rock Express launched specially designed t-shirts Thursday afternoon to raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The heather blue shirts showcase the outline of the state of Texas with the organization’s One Team motto in line with the state.

The shirts are currently on-sale for $20 plus tax both online and in-person at the Railyard Team Store at Dell Diamond. Sizes run from small to XXL.

Following the loss of Express President Chris Almendarez’s wife Jana in the spring of 2016 to a glioblastoma, the Express rallied together and got behind the “One Team” motto as a showing of support. There is a pillar in the front office filled with focus words from each staff member and topped with the words “One Team” to serve as a reminder of that support system.

“As an organization, we know we must rely on and help each other to be the best we can be,” said Express General Manager Tim Jackson. “No matter our differences, we are all working for the same end goal as one cohesive unit. Following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, Texans exemplified this by coming together to help each other out. Even those who were impacted are reaching out to others to see how they can help. Texans truly are rebuilding in the spirit of one team.”

All proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go directly to the Rebuild Texas Fund, headed up by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. They are focused on helping people in their time of greatest need and also addressing the long-term rebuilding effort in South Texas.

Fort Myers Miracle Announce Initial Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts

FORT MYERS, Fla. (September 13, 2017) – The Fort Myers Miracle, Advanced-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, announce initial Hurricane Irma relief efforts aimed at helping Lee, Collier and neighboring counties. Ownership will donate money, and the staff will volunteer their time within the community. The team also announces a new logo symbolizing aid to Southwest Florida.

Miracle ownership, SJS Beacon Baseball LLC, is leading the relief efforts by donating funds to the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. The foundation has teamed up with the United Way to directly help people displaced from their homes and those suffering losses due to Irma in Lee, Collier and neighboring counties. “We are grateful that Hurricane Irma did not have the terrible impacts that were initially forecast,” stated Miracle principal owner Jason Hochberg. “However, many people are suffering from the storm. The Miracle will do their part to help relieve some of the suffering, and we cannot wait to see everyone back at the ballpark in 2018 for spring training and Miracle season. I also wanted to especially thank Brandiose, Jason and Casey, for donating their time to create the Hurricane Irma Relief logo.”

The Miracle are also pleased to announce a new “Hurricane Irma Relief” logo designed by Brandiose (https://www.brandiose.com). Brandiose generously donated their time and labor to create the logo. The team expects to produce shirts and hats with the logo during the offseason with all proceeds of these items going to those impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Upon initial review, the CenturyLink Sports Complex / Hammond Stadium sustained minor damage from Hurricane Irma. The stadium and Miracle offices are currently without power and remain officially closed until further notice. The complex is being used as a staging ground for the National Guard and other hurricane relief efforts. Miracle staff will volunteer a portion of their time to assist with the local cleanup.

Finally, the Miracle will be presenting new related events at the ballpark during the upcoming 2018 season to further the relief efforts. They will be designated by the logo as a “Hurricane Irma Relief” event with proceeds from each event benefitting those affected by Hurricane Irma. Shuckers to team up with Corpus Christi for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

The Biloxi Shuckers front office staff is teaming up with the Corpus Christi Hooks to aid the Texas Coastal Bend residents in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts! Members of the front office staff will travel to Texas to help in the cleanup efforts and deliver much-needed supplies.

ITEMS NEEDED:
Water, diapers, animal food, bug spray, and toiletries are all in high demand. Fans can drop off items at the Biloxi Shuckers front office at MGM Park.

You can also provide a monetary donation via this LINK. 

Donations will be accepted after the week of September 18, as any donations dropped off after our trip will be donated to Hurricane Irma relief efforts in Florida.

The Corpus Christi Hooks are meeting Texas Coastal Bend residents at their point-of-need by partnering with local and national charities in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The devastating Category 4 storm made landfall at Rockport, Texas, on Friday, August 25, 2017.    

Please help our efforts to get Texas Coastal Bend residents back on their feet. 

This relief initiative is vitally important to the Corpus Christi Hooks Baseball Club because so much of the affected region is in our area. For example, of 51 high school communities, approximately 40 percent were affected by Harvey, including those hardest hit: Rockport-Fulton, Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, Refugio, Woodsboro, Victoria, Port Lavaca, Flour Bluff, Sinton, Taft, Gregory-Portland, Beeville, and Odem.    

Fans from these towns and others have been instrumental in our success since the Hooks began play in 2005 and we want to use our platform to give back and make sure their needs are met during this time of great adversity.

Lexington Legends named 2017 Community Service Organization of the Year by South Atlantic League

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) – The Lexington Legends have been named the 2017 Community Service Organization of the Year by the South Atlantic League, which recognizes a club’s outstanding, on-going commitment to charitable service, philanthropy and leadership within their community. The award is one of the league’s Outstanding Achievement Awards, which are announced annually following the conclusion of the regular season. In the five seasons in which the award has been given, the Legends have won twice, previously winning the inaugural award in 2013.

Throughout the 17 years of their history, the Legends contributed a total of more than $13 million to hundreds of charitable organizations in central and eastern Kentucky. The 2017 season donation total tops close to $1.1 million, a 21% increase in community support from the 2016 season. The Legends Community Organization of the Night program puts a charitable organization in the spotlight at every home game, and numerous special events and fund-raisers are held at Whitaker Bank Ballpark throughout the year.

 

In addition, the Legends have established partnerships with Chambers of Commerce in central and eastern Kentucky and have supported and welcomed youth baseball teams and coaches, religious organizations and other non-profit entities throughout the region.

The Legends will now be nominated for the Minor League Baseball John Henry Moss Community Service Award, which honors the founder of the South Atlantic League for his dedication and charitable service to baseball and his community during his 50-year tenure as a league president. Moss founded the South Atlantic League and presided over it from 1959-2008. The winner of the award will be announced at the Baseball Winter Meetings this December.

RoughRiders raise more than $30,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief

FRISCO, Texas (Sept. 6, 2017) – The Frisco RoughRiders Foundation raised $30,856 for Hurricane Harvey relief throughout the team’s final homestand of the regular season, which ended Sept. 4. The proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.

“The outpouring of support for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey over the last week is truly inspiring,” RoughRiders Chief Operating Officer Scott Burchett said. “We’re so proud to witness the tremendous generosity of RoughRiders fans and their unwavering assistance for our neighbors along the southeast Texas coast.”

The RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, employed several fundraising efforts during the seven-game homestand, including 10 percent from all sales at the Riders Outpost team store, proceeds from special Pass the Boot activities during games, cash donations at the RoughRiders Foundation table and auctions of RoughRiders items.

Riders Outpost also has limited edition “Texas Tough” T-Shirts available both in store and online for a minimum $10 donation to the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. More than 1,000 t-shirts have been ordered and will continue to be available at roughriders.milbstore.com through Friday, Sept. 8.

Proceeds from Reckless Kelly’s Celebrity Softball Jam Shifted Towards Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

ROUND ROCK, Texas – For the past eight years, Reckless Kelly’s Celebrity Softball Jam has been about giving back to Central Texas. This year, the mission is even greater. Proceeds from this year’s Jam will go towards relief efforts in South Texas following the devastating path of destruction left by Hurricane Harvey.

“Every year, we have been able to raise money to make a difference in the community through this project,” said Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly. “After the events of the past week, we knew we needed to direct funds to the relief efforts in Houston and the gulf coast any way we could. That is the main priority for those of us in Texas right now.”

As those in South Texas continue to assess the damage and begin the rebuilding process, funds from this year’s event will go towards the areas that need the most support.

“We have this great platform to help the people of South Texas,” said Round Rock Express President Chris Almendarez. “By combining the resources of the artists, athletes and media personalities involved with this event, we can really make a difference in the relief efforts as people begin to rebuild across Texas.”

Organizers will continue to work with Kids in a New Groove and Honor Flight Austin throughout the year to support their missions with outreach, volunteer hours and donation drives.

Since its inception, the Jam has raised over $350,000 through the Reckless Kelly Charitable Youth Foundation for area youth leagues, including the funding of a $150,000 renovation of Mabson Field in East Austin, TX.

Miracle Offer Free Weekend Tickets with SWFL Flood Donations

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 31, 2017) – The Fort Myers Miracle, Advanced-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, are offering a free ticket to fans on Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3 when they bring in donation items to aid those affected by the recent flooding in Southwest Florida. The team will also wear special “Faux-back” jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. With 100% of the jersey auction proceeds benefitting victims of Hurricane Harvey, Miracle ownership will be MATCHING the bidding total dollar for dollar.

“For those in Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Southwest Florida that have been displaced or affected by the recent flooding, we hope the supplies donated over Labor Day weekend will help those that need it the most,” says Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Ben Hemmen. “The Miracle have amazing fans, and we believe they will join us in this effort to assist our local community.”

Fans will receive one free general admission ticket to Saturday or Sunday’s game against the Jupiter Hammerheads, Advanced-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, when they bring in any of the following:

  • One (1) case of bottled water
  • Twelve (12) canned goods
  • Twelve (12) pack of toilet paper

The team will start the collection process by donating one pallet of bottled water (2,016 bottles), six cases of canned goods (217 pounds of canned food) and over 500 rolls of toilet paper. All items collected over the weekend will be delivered next week to multiple organizations that need help.

Jersey auction bidding will begin on Saturday when gates open at 5:00 PM ET and will run through the bottom of the sixth inning. Player and coach jersey bidding will begin at $75 with a special “Buy It Now” price for $300. Three player and one team signed jersey will be available online for bidding starting at 1 PM ET on Saturday and run through Monday at 1 PM ET.

“The Miracle want to do their part to help Houston and the surrounding areas cope with the catastrophic flooding and rain from Hurricane Harvey,” stated owner Jason Hochberg. “Having lived in Houston for three years, I know the community is compassionate, resilient and strong. Chattanooga Lookouts to Auction Off Autographed Team Jersey to Benefit Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Today, the Chattanooga Lookouts have announced that they will auction off an Autographed Team Jersey to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The online auction is set to begin at noon on Friday September 1st and end at noon on Tuesday September 5th.

All proceeds from the auction will be given to Minor League Baseball Charities. MiLB Charities is collecting funds on behalf of Minor League Baseball’s 160 teams to provide relief to the MiLB communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. MiLB Charities will match all donations provided by its teams, up to $10,000, and will send the collective funds to organizations selected by the MiLB office and those clubs whose communities are affected.

Fans who would like to bid on the jersey can click here once the auction begins. The bidding will start at $150.

The Lookouts last action packed homestand of the year begins tonight! The upcoming homestand features MEGA Fireworks and the ZOOperstars! on Friday (9/1), College Football Night on Saturday (9/2) and College Kids Eat Free on Sunday (9/3).

Bandits to raise money for Harvey victims this weekend

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Quad Cities River Bandits, Class-A Affiliate of the Houston Astros, will be fundraising for those affected by Hurricane Harvey during the team’s final homestand of the regular season, a three-game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beginning Saturday, September 2. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the River Bandits will be collecting financial donations, clothes and needed supplies during all three games to help support the city and thousands of victims.

The River Bandits will donate all proceeds from the 50-50 raffle for all three games, with all money raised going to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Additionally, the Bandits will host an online auction of River Bandits merchandise and memorabilia. The Bandits will also donate $1 from every ticket sold online to Sunday and Monday’s games when purchasers use the code “RELIEF” during checkout. In addition, anyone who donates $10 or more this weekend will receive a free general admission ticket to any Monday through Thursday River Bandits home game next April and anyone who donates $500 or more will be rewarded with a free suite rental to a Monday-through-Thursday River Bandits home game in April of 2018. There will be donation stands throughout Modern Woodmen Park during all three games this weekend. Minor League Baseball Charities will be matching all donations provided by its teams, up to $10,000.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the people of the Texas Gulf Coast during this challenging time. A category-four Hurricane, Harvey has dropped nearly 50 inches of rain on southeast Texas which, according to the National Weather Service, is equal to the amount of rainfall reported annually at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport. Nine continuous days of rain have pounded the Houston area with winds recorded up 130 MPH during the storm. With the River Bandits being a proud Astros affiliate and so many current and recent River Bandits players calling Houston home, the Quad Cities community has a strong personal tie to the greater Houston area.

THE INLAND EMPIRE 66ERS SUPPORT HURRICANE HARVEY RELEIF AT LAST 2017 HOME GAME

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino organization stands behind team member, Kyle Survance Jr., a Houston, TX native, and University of Houston alumni to support Hurricane Harvey relief through both item and monetary donations.

The 66ers organization, including staff and players, have banned together to collect clothing and shoes to donate to the U of H in efforts to help victims in need after the Hurricane. Survance’s former baseball coach at the university, Tom Whitting, reached out to any baseball team, regardless of the level, willing to offer any help. “It was awesome seeing how quickly everyone responded to help out,” Survance expressed, “witnessing how quickly everything was coming together is just a reminder of how many people care about what’s going on down there and it’s a great feeling. I can’t thank the 66ers enough for their help.”

Alongside the efforts of donating clothing items, the 66ers organization will be making a monetary donation to the relief fund. The team will be holding a game worn jersey auction during their last home game, on Thursday, August 31st. All proceeds from the auction will be donated. In addition to the game worn jerseys by the team Thursday night, the 66ers will be auctioning off a framed number 27, Mike Trout autographed 66ers jersey.
“Minor League Baseball has been very active to help those in need in Houston,” Alex Groh, 66ers Assistant General Manager explains, “so we are just trying to do our part as well, especially since Houston is home to one of our players.”

Hooks Homestand: Hurricane Harvey Relief

CORPUS CHRISTI – When Hooks Baseball returns to Whataburger Field for four games this Labor Day Weekend, Coastal Bend residents have an opportunity to provide financial assistance and critical supplies to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in the Coastal Bend.

Hooks VP/GM Michael Wood announced Wednesday that a portion of the weekend’s proceeds from all ballpark points-of-sale, including retail, concessions, the Whataburger store, Rudy’s Prize Wheel, and the Driscoll Health Plan Kids Zone will go for Hurricane Harvey relief.

In addition, $5 from the sale of every ticket $6 or more goes to the relief effort.

“Our hope is that this weekend’s games offer a respite for those whose lives have been disrupted by such great calamity,” Wood said. “It’s a way for all of us to give back to the Coastal Bend as people work to get back on their feet and rebuild their communities.”

To promote affordability for citizens of affected areas, the Hooks are offering FREE PARKING and “Pay What You Can” seating in Corner Box Reserved sections of the ballpark, based on availability. There is also a grass Berm accommodation when Corner Box seat inventory is exhausted.

Home Run Dollars: Hooks players have agreed to dedicate their season-long home run dollar take to the effort, so be sure to stuff your dollars into the bait bucket when it’s passed your way after a Corpus Christi home run.

Earlier this week, the Astros announced the following hurricane relief efforts:

*Jim Crane, the Astros Ownership group and the Astros Foundation pledged to donate $4.0 million to the hurricane relief efforts.

*Proceeds from the Share2Care 50/50 raffle for the remainder of the season will be donated to the American Red Cross, Houston relief efforts targeting hurricane victims.

*Fans wishing to assist in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts can now visit YouCaring.com/AstrosHarvey to donate. Proceeds will benefit the Astros Foundation’s hurricane relief efforts.

*Additionally, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association announced that those parties will jointly donate $1.0 million to various relief efforts for the damage throughout the state of Texas created by Hurricane Harvey, including to the American Red Cross.

*The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, the Spring Training home of the Astros in West Palm Beach, Florida, is also assisting the hurricane relief efforts. They have teamed up with Crane Worldwide to get needed supplies to Houston. The staff at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches is accepting donations for the hurricane victims. Crane Worldwide will provide the transportation of the collected items from Florida to Houston. Items can be dropped off at 5444 Haverhill Road, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407, through Wednesday, September 6.

Keys to Help Raise Money for Hurricane Harvey Victims

FREDERICK, MD -Over the final week of the season, the Frederick Keys will be raising monies for the victims in Houston and southeast Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The team will donate all money raised from its Wheel of Fun on Tuesday, Wednesday and Monday, along with proceeds raised from Monday’s 50-50 raffle. To go along with the help from Keys fans, all Keys player fine money will go towards the relief efforts. All the money raised will then be doubled by the Keys.

“Our hearts go out to everyone in Houston and the affected areas,” said Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis. “We are asking all of our fans to help us out in raising money for the victims and to assist in whatever way possible with the relief efforts.”

The Keys will also be sending shirts and other clothes to help families ravaged by the flooding.

To go along with support from the Keys, Minor League Baseball Charities will match donations provided by its teams up to $10,000. All funds raised by MiLB teams will then be sent by to organizations selected by Minor League Baseball to help those affected.

On Wednesday, the Keys continue their three-game series with the Salem Red Sox. Right-hander Cristian Alvarado (7-9, 5.20) starts for the Keys and will be opposed by Red Sox left-hander Kyle Hart (2-2, 2.87). First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m from Nymeo Field and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source, frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn Radio App.

Flying Squirrels Announce Hurricane Relief Efforts

RVA – The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have teamed up with the American Red Cross, VCU & Hilldrup Moving & Storage in an effort to help raise funds and items for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Flying Squirrels Charities, a nonprofit 501 (c)3, will be leading off the efforts with a $2,000 donation on behalf of Flying Squirrels fans. This donation, along with any cash donations received from fans at The Diamond to the American Red Cross Thursday-Sunday, will be matched by Minor League Baseball Charities (up to $10,000).

Additionally, Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., The Diamond will be a donation center for items needed in Houston-area shelters (specific items listed below). VCU Head Basketball Coach Mike Rhoades, a former Houston-resident, is spearheading the relief efforts. Rhoades and his family will be on hand to assist in taking donations at The Diamond, Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. VCU basketball players as well as Flying Squirrels players, will accompany Rhoades at the park in rotating shifts.

“I know RVA will once again come through for those that need our help,” said VCU Head Basketball Coach Mike Rhoades. “We need you to contribute and assist all those in the Houston-area who were decimated by this terrible storm. This initiative will directly make it better for those that need it. My family, our team and our VCU community will be actively involved at The Diamond.”

The Red Cross will be at The Diamond from Thursday-Sunday and will be accepting cash donations. Fans can also donate to the American Red Cross through the coded link provided here to receive a matching contribution from MiLB Charities. The Flying Squirrels will also donate the proceeds from Saturday’s raffle and Launch-A-Ball to the relief effort. A silent auction will also be a contributor during Saturday’s game.

“Obviously, our hearts go out to all involved in Texas,” said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. “We have several players and front office staff who we care deeply about, who have families and friends deeply affected by this and we always want to do what s right and lead here in Richmond, so we were happy to be involved in this with our partners at VCU and Hilldrup Moving and Storage.”

VA Blood Services will also be at The Diamond on Saturday from 1-4 p.m., for those who wish to give blood. Blood is a much a needed commodity in the relief effort. A financial contribution wiull be made on behalf of each participating donor

Blue Rocks to Help Raise Money for Hurricane Harvey Victims

Wilmington, DE – With the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Houston and the region of southeast Texas, the Wilmington Blue Rocks are partnering with their fans to help raise funds and provide relief for the communities impacted by the historic storm.

The Blue Rocks will donate $2 for every box seat and reserve box seat purchased online using the promo code RELIEF, for games from Saturday, September 2 through Monday, September 4. Additionally, the Blue Rocks will donate all proceeds from the team’s Hurl the Pearl promotion, along with the proceeds raised from their Launch-a-Ball contest on Saturday, September 2. The club is also having an online auction of original artwork featuring mascots Rocky Bluewinkle and Mr. Celery, with all proceeds going directly to the Hurricane Harvey relief fund.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the people of the Texas Gulf Coast during this very challenging time,” said Blue Rocks owner Dave Heller. “Whether it be money or needed clothes, we are asking all of our fans to join us in helping our fellow citizens along the Gulf. And with Minor League Baseball matching fans’ donations, we are really hopeful that our fans, along with the great baseball fans across the country, can make a real difference to Americans in need.”

Starting on Saturday, September 2, the Red Cross will set up monetary donation buckets outside the gates at the ballpark and GreenDrop will have donation boxes for fans to give new or gently used clothing during the final three games of the 2017 regular season.

“The damage that Hurricane Harvey has caused to the regions impacted is catastrophic,” said Blue Rocks General Manager Andrew Layman. “The Blue Rocks are happy to contribute to the relief fund for Hurricane Harvey. I know our great fans will also be pleased to know that the proceeds from the multiple ways we plan to raise funds and the donation boxes that will be stationed at the ballpark will be aiding the victims affected by the storm.”

Minor League Baseball Charities will also match all donations provided by its teams, up to $10,000, and will send the collective funds to organization(s) selected by the MiLB office and those clubs whose communities are affected.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks conclude their 2017 regular season at home with seven games to be played in six days. Wilmington starts a three-game, two-day series with the Down East Wood Ducks on Wednesday, August 30 with a doubleheader starting at 5:05 pm and gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.bluerocks.com.
