Celebrity Tournament at the Dominion Club on June 17th to Benefit the Miracle League of Richmond

RICHMOND, VA – The Richmond Flying Squirrels will partner with Victory Golf Events to hold their first charity golf tournament, the Flying Squirrels Charity Golf Open on Monday, June 17th at the Dominion Club. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Miracle League of Richmond. The tournament will be played with teams of four competing in a scramble format along with a celebrity teammate. Celebrity teammates will include Flying Squirrels players, coaches and staff members as well additional celebrities from the sports and media community in Richmond.
“Hosting a golf tournament is something we have wanted to do since we arrived in Richmond,” said Flying Squirrels’ Vice President & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. “We always have a lot of guys on the team who love to play, and it is a great way to get many of our other friends in the community involved to aid the effort of the outstanding folks at the Miracle League of Richmond. I just hope I don’t hack it up too badly out there for the Dominion Club’s sake.”

During the game, the Drive will be wearing pink jerseys and the bases will all be pink. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on all of these during the game through a silent auction, with proceeds going to the South Carolina Mountains to Midlands affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Over the past seven seasons, Paint the Park Pink Night has become one of the State College Spikes’ staple events by raising awareness of the fight against breast cancer. In 2013, the Spikes will join together with the Central PA community to put a personal touch on the battle, as fans can nominate family and friends affected by breast cancer to have their names commemorated on the Spikes’ special pink jerseys worn during the August 3 game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Tampa, FL. – The Tampa Yankees and The Container Store will team up in the fight against Breast Cancer as they host “Pink Out Night” on Saturday, May 4th, at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Gates open at 5:00pm, and the Tampa Yankees will take on the Clearwater Threshers at 6:00pm. There will be pre-game activities for all fans and a post game fireworks show sponsored by Bright House Networks.
MIDLAND, Mich. – The Michigan Baseball Foundation (MBF) is pleased to announce its 2013 grant class, which includes 30 organizations from nine counties in Mid-Michigan. The 2013 class received a total of $105,079, making it the sixth consecutive year that the grant total exceeded $100,000. In its six years of existence, the MBF grant program has awarded a total of $622,459 to non-profits of Mid-Michigan.
Since 2008, the Michigan Baseball Foundation has awarded 184 grants to deserving non-profit organizations across 14 counties.
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund (GCF) raised $784 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Boston Marathon Fund during the Grizzlies’ game at Chukchansi Park on Saturday, April 20th. The GCF raffled off an autographed bat, which was signed by the entire Fresno Grizzlies team, during the game.
Challenged Athletes Foundation started the Boston Marathon Fund in response to last week’s bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15th.
