Dash Announce Hometown Heroes USA Celebration

 

The Winston-Salem Dash are teaming up with Salem One for a Hometown Heroes USA event at Truist Stadium on Saturday, September 11 to honor all service members and first responders (active and retired). The Dash will take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods, an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, at 6:00 p.m.

Service members and first responders (and one guest) can take advantage of a special $5 offer that includes their game ticket and a voucher for a hot dog, chips, and a Pepsi product. Additional tickets that include the food and beverage voucher can be purchased for $16. The first 500 service members and first responders to purchase tickets will be eligible to receive a free pair of OnCloud athletic shoes at the game, courtesy of Veterans Service of the Carolinas. Fans should register for shoes when purchasing their tickets, and the shoes generally run a half size small. All tickets through this offer must be reserved by Wednesday, September 1.

Margaritaville Night, Healthcare Heroes headline final six of ‘Tugas homestand

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas continue their two-week homestand at Jackie Robinson Ballpark with more fun and excitement over six games against the Palm Beach Cardinals, Low-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, on Tuesday, August 17. Among the highlights are a Thirsty Thursday, Margaritaville Night on Saturday, and a First Responders and Healthcare Heroe Appreciation Night on Friday.

The Tortugas open up the set on Tuesday, August 17, with a Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Radiology Associates Imaging. Daytona players and coaches will don special pink-tinted uniforms to mark the occasion, as the organization looks to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Silver Sluggers Night — the best club in baseball for fans 60-and-over — presented by Conviva Cares Solutions will also be a part of the festivities. As a part of Silver Sluggers Night, fans can enjoy Michelob Ultra drafts for $2.50. The first pitch of that night and all weekday games are set for 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m.

Charity remains a focal point for the organization with a Wishful Wednesday presented by VyStar Credit Union on August 18. The Tortugas partner with a local non-profit organization to swell up donations and awareness for a worthy cause. We recognize the selflessness of those who have aided others during the pandemic as a part of our First Responders and Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Night on Friday, August 20. Segra Stadium To Host 3rd Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

 

The 3rd Annual Fayetteville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held on the morning of Saturday, September 11th at Segra Stadium. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the climb will start at 8:47 a.m.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters, police, and EMS who selflessly gave their lives on that tragic day. Each participant will pay tribute to those brave souls by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through community participation we can ensure that each of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 10 EMS are never forgotten.

Registration fees are $30 per person and include your entry to the climb and a t-shirt. Anyone interested in climbing MUST REGISTER ONLINE by September 8th. We will accept walk-up registration; however, t-shirts cannot be guaranteed for anyone registering day of. Check-in and registration for the event will begin at 7:00 a.m. All proceeds from the stair climb will benefit programs provided by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to support the families of your local fallen firefighters and the FDNY Counseling Services Unit.

Bowie, Md: The Bowie Baysox, Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles announce today that the team will host Heroes Day on Sunday, July 25 at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, MD when they take on the Hartford Yard Goats, Double-A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. The game on Sunday, July 25 will take place at 1:35 pm and a portion of the ticket sales from the game will benefit the Children’s Cancer Foundation in Columbia, MD. All Law Enforcement, Firefighters and EMS personnel are invited to attend this Sunday’s game for FREE! To obtain the free tickets, Law Enforcement, Fire or EMS personnel will need to present their valid, active-duty badge or identification badge at the Bowie Baysox Ticket Office on Sunday, July 25. Two free tickets to Sunday’s game will be issued to that first responder to come in and enjoy the game.

Heroes Day at the Baysox will feature a day of giving back as the team has partnered with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department to feature a charity softball game following the Baysox game against Hartford. The softball game will pit the Anne Arundel County Fire Department against the Mid-Atlantic Fire Department in a competitive on-field battle for softball supremacy. This is the second year that this event has taken place following a Baysox game, the first time was in 2019. All fans attending the Baysox game on Sunday, July 25 are invited to stay and enjoy the softball game.

All fans are also encouraged to come dressed in their favorite hero costume or animated hero character apparel. There will also be some great costumed characters in attendance for fans to meet and take photos with including a Panther and American Captain.

Baysox players and team members will also be wearing specially designed jerseys for this game that will be auctioned with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Children’s Cancer Foundation of Columbia.

Smokies Stadium to Host Officer Robert Frederick Charity Softball Tournament 

 

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Smokies Stadium will host the Officer Robert Frederick charity softball tournament on July 20, 2021 at 6:00pm in conjunction with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Frederick, an officer with the Gatlinburg Police Department, was injured over Memorial Day weekend when his family’s home was destroyed by a fire and took the life of his daughter, a recent Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Graduate, Shauna, and his father-in-law, Edmond Davis. The money raised during the event will go back to help cover costs the family has endured.

The tournament will begin at 6:00pm with gates opening at 5:00pm. This is a free event open to the public. During the tournament, $10 raffle tickets will be sold for items from various sponsors of the event. Smokies concessions and GoTeez Locker Room will be open, donating a portion of sales back to the Frederick Family.

There are currently five teams made up of local law enforcement, fire, EMS agencies, and 911 emergency dispatchers. Each game will be 50 minutes long, ending with a championship game.

For those that can not attend the event in-person, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union has a benefit account set up with Officer Frederick and his family. Donations can be made online or inside any local Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union branch.

Tortugas to help raise funds for Officer Raynor’s family

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – As a part of the Daytona Tortugas continued effort to be a driving force for good in and around Volusia County, the team has announced on Wednesday that it will spend the last five games of their Independence Day homestand against the Lakeland Flying Tigers raising funds for the family of Daytona Beach police officer Jason Raynor after he was seriously wounded in the line of duty last week.

On Wednesday, June 30, and Thursday, July 1, all proceeds from the Tortugas’ nightly 50/50 raffle will go to support the injured officer’s family. Additionally, more funds will be raised over the weekend, Friday, July 2, through Sunday, July 4, the franchise will host a silent auction along the concourse behind home plate.

Fans will also be able to donate to the cause through the Daytona Tortugas’ website. When purchasing tickets online at www.daytonatortugas.com, patrons will be given an option to donate at their discretion to help support the cause.

The six-game homestand continues on Wednesday. First Responder ‘Hero of the Inning’ Nominations Open

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia Fireflies are hosting First Responders Night sponsored by T-Mobile on Thursday, June 17 at 7:05pm. During the game, the Fireflies will honor eight local first responders and are looking for fans to nominate their favorite first responder for in-game recognition online here. Those selected as “Heroes of the Inning” will be contacted directly by a Fireflies representative.

Nominations are open to any EMS, firefighter or police officer to be recognized in-between innings. When submitting nominations, please have a photo of the honoree and a short bio available. Honorees chosen will be given two free tickets to Thursday night’s game.

Similar nominations will be made available later in the season for frontline works and teachers.

Flying Squirrels offer first responders complimentary tickets to game on June 13

 

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Flying Squirrels will host First Responders Day, presented by the Brad Clark Memorial Fund, at The Diamond on Sunday, June 13.

Active-duty police, firefighters and EMS from the cities and counties throughout Central Virginia are eligible to receive two (2) complimentary General Admission tickets to the game against the Harrisburg Senators, based on availability. Eligible first responders simply need to show their ID or badge to receive the tickets. Advanced redemption is strongly encouraged.

Tickets can be picked up in advance at the Flying Squirrels offices or at the ticket booth on the day of the game

The last 15 months have been very traumatic, yet first responders have stood up to every challenge,” Flying Squirrels CEO Todd “Parney” Parnell said. “Now it is our turn to honor them on June 13 and collectively, as a community, say ‘thank you.’”

The Brad Clark Memorial Fund was established in memory of Hanover County Fire Lt. Brad Clark, who was killed in the line of duty in 2018.

Nashville Sounds Announce “Hometown Hero” Program Presented by MTSU Daniels Center

 

The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club proudly announced today the return of its “Hometown Hero” program presented by Middle Tennessee State University – Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center.

During the 2021 season on select home games at First Horizon Park, the Sounds and MTSU Daniels Center will honor veterans, active members of the armed forces, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police officers and firefighters.

Nominations for heroes are now being accepted here. All nominees must be, or have been, a member of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, or a paramedic, emergency medical technician, police officer or firefighter.

Selected heroes will receive complimentary tickets to a Sounds game and be recognized on the iconic guitar scoreboard during a special in-between inning feature.

The Daniels Center’s mission is to provide transition services for Veterans and their families as they return to civilian life after military service. The Daniels Center is the largest and most comprehensive veterans center on any Tennessee higher education campus. It enables the over 1000 military-connected student population on campus to have a one-stop shop to meet a variety of academic needs.

The Sounds offer military family ticket discounts for every game at First Horizon Park. A $2 discount on single-game ticket prices is available for any Reserved Section seat – based on availability. Boys To Law Enforcement Day will consist of an array of activities that include: Run Bases with a Cop, Catch with A Cop, Home Run Derby & ending in a Flag Football Charity Game. Each Activity will be broken down into grade levels within the program. This day will be full of fun, and it will shed light on the positive relationships that our local officers are committed to building with young men in our community. “I think this partnership will help the Bowling Green Police Department by providing positive role models to your group and bridging the gap between the police department. You never know who’s life you might change or influence. Our goal is to help you encourage these young men and get them to believe in themselves. Once you believe then you can achieve. I look forward to helping and hopefully inspiring these young men.” Said Bowling Green Police Chief Michael Delaney.

The goal of the event is to introduce officers to students, provide a safe and fun environment for students and officers to interact, and develop positive relationships with students and law enforcement. “We are very committed to building partnerships that invest within our community and the lives of those that live here. I look forward to making plans to build our partnership” said Warren Country Sheriff Brett Hightower.

The gates to Bowling Green Ballpark will open up at 9:30 am with opening ceremonies at 10am. The days events will include ceremonial first pitch, run bases with a Cop at 10:20, catch with a Cop at 11am, Home Run Derby at noon, followed by a Flag Football Charity Game at 2pm. Concessions will be open beginning at 11am during the event. Eric C. Leach, Hot Rods General Manager and COO said “We are looking forward to hosting the inaugural event at our ballpark.
