Rochester Red Wings, RIT/NTID, and Rochester School for the Deaf partner for Deaf Culture Day

ROCHESTER, NY – The Rochester Red Wings, in partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf and Rochester School for the Deaf, will host the third Deaf Culture Day at Frontier Field, on Friday, September 16. The 6:05 p.m. game is against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Interpreters from Interpretek will be on site during the game at Frontier Field to assist fans at the Ticket Office, concession stands, guest services, Team Store, and various other locations around the ballpark. The 7th inning will be a “silent inning,” without public address announcements or music, to raise further awareness about deafness. Portions of the game will be captioned on the videoboard.

The National Anthem and God Bless America will be performed in sign language by NTID’s traveling performance troupe Sunshine 2.0.

The Red Wings will don American Sign Language jerseys which will be auctioned off to benefit NTID and RSD. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off online at RedWingsBaseball.com/Auction.

We are grateful for the organization’s commitment to Rochester’s Deaf community—one of the largest per capita in the nation—and know that Sept. 16 will be a great night for our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the rest of the Rochester area.”

RSD will be collecting school supplies during the game. Fans donating school supply items will receive $2 off their ticket. The discount only applies to in-person purchases at the Ticket Office. Fans will show their supply and drop it off at Guest Services the day of the game. Items that RSD is in need of are listed here.

Good Deed Day Set for July 30th

(Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder are calling on their fans to support five local community organizations as part of the 12th Annual Good Deed Day at Trenton Thunder Ballpark on Saturday, July 30th. Good Deed Day is Day 3 of Cloudman’s Heroes Week

Good Deed Day will feature collection tables on Times Square (the area outside the ballpark) for the following non-profit organizations:

  • United Way of Greater Mercer County – School Supplies
  • HomeFront – Personal care items such as shampoo, soap, toiletries, etc
  • Mercer Street Friends – Non-Perishable Food Items
  • Pet Rescue of Mercer – Pet Food & Supplies
  • Trenton Thunder/Grand Slam We Care Foundation – Gently-Used Baseball Equipment

The United Way of Greater Mercer County will be collecting school supplies out front of the ballpark. For almost 100 years, United Way has been involved in our local community connecting people with resources, propelling individuals and families to reach their fullest potential. The Thunder have also been partnering with United Way of Greater Mercer County as an official collection site for non-perishable food items during the month of July.

HomeFront, an organization that helps families break the cycle of poverty, will collect personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bandaids, bar soap, toothpaste tubes and other toiletry items that will be put to use in their Family Preservation Center and other residences.

Mercer Street Friends Food Bank will be collecting non-perishable food items. The Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, established in 1987, leads the community response to hunger in Mercer County. Its mission is to alleviate hunger through food distribution, nutrition education and assistance, weekend and summer meals for children, advocacy and outreach. The Food Bank distributes 2.6 million pounds of food annually and helps to feed over 25,000 low-income children, adults and seniors at-risk for hunger.

Pet Rescue of Mercer will be at the ballpark collecting pet food and supplies. Pet Rescue of Mercer is an all volunteer non-profit group that rescues neglected, abused, and abandoned animals and finds quality homes for them. Adoptable dogs and cats are placed in foster homes until they can be found permanent homes.

On Saturday, July 30th, the Thunder will host the Williamsport Crosscutters at 6:30 pm. It’s also Thunder’s Faith & Family Night with fireworks after the game. Stick around after the fireworks for a Postgame Concert from members of the Hamilton Square Presbyterian Church.

Pack the Camper School Supply Drive Announced

Pelicans team up with Campers Inn RV, WMBF for local school supply drive

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (July 21, 2022) – With the new school year fast approaching, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans have teamed up with Campers Inn RV and WMBF News to host a school supply drive at Pelicans Ballpark August 2 through 5. With the donation of any school supplies fans will receive a free wristband to the Rockin’ Jump Fun Zone at Pelicans Ballpark. The wristband is valued at $5 and is available to kids 12 and under.

“The kickoff to the school year is always an exciting time but the lead up can also be stressful for many parents and teachers as school supply shopping can add up,” said Ryan Canella, Assistant General Manager of Sales for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. “We are excited to partner with Campers Inn RV and WMBF News as we do our best to help the children of our community start the year with everything they need to excel in the classroom.”

The Pelicans will take on the Lynchburg Hillcats, affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, during the August series. All school supply donations should be dropped off at Guest Services during one of the designated games. A suggested list of supplies, courtesy of Horry County Schools, is listed below:

The Wichita Wind Surge Continues Tornado Relief Support

The Surge announces school supply drive through the end of August

Continuing the season long support for those impacted by the Andover Tornado, the Wichita Wind Surge will host a school-supply drive with donations earmarked for the students of Andover’s Prairie Creek Elementary School.

During home games between May 31 and the end of August, fans can bring donations to Guest Services, located behind Section 10. Those unable to attend a Wind Surge game may drop off donations at the Box Office, located on McLean Blvd. Those donating will receive a free berm ticket for a future 2022 regular season Wind Surge game.

“We want to give everyone an opportunity to help the students and teachers at Andover’s Prairie Creek Elementary School in any way they can,” said Bob Moullette, Director of Fan Experience. “Donations of pens, paper, folders, and other supplies will go a long way in replacing the items that were lost in the tornado and they will help send the message that we are all one community that supports each another.”

Accepted school supplies include: notebook paper, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, rulers, backpacks, Clorox wipes, baby wipes, dry erase markers, folders, and scissors.

Donations must be new in their original unopened packaging; backpacks can be new or gently used.

BlueClaws to Host School Supply Drive on September 10th

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The BlueClaws will host a School Supply Drive at their game on Friday, September 10th. Fans are asked to bring school supplies to the game for the drive hosted by BlueClaws Charities. Items can be dropped off at the New Jersey Natural Gas Information Booth on the concourse behind home plate.

Items that can be dropped off include, but are not limited to: notebooks, binders, markers, pens & pencils, crayons, backpacks,

Any fan that donates school supplies will receive two complimentary tickets to BlueClaws Opening Night in 2022.

Friday’s game includes Post-Game Fireworks thanks to New Jersey Lottery and is a part of Locals’ Summer, presented by Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.

Indianapolis Indians Charities, Teachers’ Treasures Announce Whiteboard Double Play Campaign

INDIANAPOLIS – You donate, we match! Today, Indianapolis Indians Charities (IIC) and Teachers’ Treasures introduced the Whiteboard Double Play campaign, an initiative where IIC will match all donations made to Teachers’ Treasures up to $10,000 through Monday, May 10. Teachers’ Treasures is a nonprofit that obtains and distributes school supplies free to teachers in need. On average, teachers in Marion County spend $800-1,200 per year on school supplies for their students.

“With Central Indiana schools adjusting to a virtual, e-learning experience because of the pandemic and teachers and students now returning to their respective classrooms, the Indianapolis Indians and IIC are proud to partner with Teachers’ Treasures to ensure students receive the items they need to learn and grow every day no matter the classroom setting,” said Randy Lewandowski, Indianapolis Indians President and General Manager. “The Whiteboard Double Play campaign will be a home run on all accounts, and we look forward to contributing funds to this great initiative.”

IIC compiled 500 booklets for students across Marion County in May 2020 and donated desks, office chairs and mini refrigerators, among other items, to Teachers’ Treasures last December. Now, IIC will double the impact of every donation made to Teachers’ Treasures through May 10. Donations can be made here starting as low as $5 with donation impact detailed below:

$5 = 4-pack of dry erase markers for one student
$10 = Dry erase board, 4-pack of dry erase markers and an eraser for one student
$25 = Dry erase boards and 4-packs of dry erase markers for 10 students
$50 = Dry erase boards for an entire class
$100 = Dry erase boards for two classes and a special shoutout from mascot, Rowdie
$250 = Dry erase boards for an entire school and a special shoutout from mascot, Rowdie

“Teachers’ Treasures partnership with Indianapolis Indians Charities has provided a pillar of support during a turbulent year to 270+ schools within Marion County,” said Alicia Van Rensburg, Teachers’ Treasures Development Manager. “Through masks and distance learning, the need for personal whiteboards and supplies has been indispensable to our teachers and students.”

Ports Virtual Back to School Drive

The Ports are excited to launch it’s Virtual Back to School Drive, starting today and running until September 14!

The purpose of this event is to support local schools in the community and provide schools, teachers, and students with the proper supplies and visual learning materials to enhance both online and in person education. This drive gives the Ports the opportunity to interact with the community and give back to those schools, especially during times where many schools are dealing with the downfalls of COVID-19. Schools we will be supporting are Hong Kingston Elementary, Pittman, Pulliam Elementary, John Adams Elementary, John F. Kennedy Elementary and Cleveland Elementary.

In order to follow safety protocols and guidelines regarding COVID, we will allow the local community to contribute to the back to school drive without having to leave their house! We are asking for Monetary Donations that will be used towards gift cards for teachers to purchase software educational enhancements to best supply their students with the proper learning material for virtual learning. Gift cards will be to Target, Walmart, Amazon, Office Depot, Teachers Paying Teachers, etc.Donations can be done online on the Ports Website. Donation values are in increments of $5, $10, $20, and $50, but multiple donations are able to be combined to add up to $15, $30, $40, etc.

Donor names will be featured on “The Honor Roll” page on the Stockton Ports website. Donors also have the opportunity to win one of the three special gifts – the more you donate, the more chances you have to win a gift!

Bring School Supplies to Avista Stadium Today and Receive a $5 Ticket to the Game

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Indians and Ambetter by Coordinated Care will be accepting School Supplies for local foster children today at Avista Stadium. Each fan who brings school supplies will have the opportunity to purchase a bench seat to today’s game for just $5!

There is a growing crisis in Washington’s foster care system, as there are currently more children entering foster care than the present number of foster homes can handle and the need for more homes is urgent. Sadly, due to the shortage of homes, children end up being moved to other counties in the state if there is not a local foster home available to care for them.

Fostering WA works hard to ensure that there are foster homes available in all communities across eastern Washington to be able to provide care for children when they need out of home care. Fostering ID provides the same services in Idaho. Both Fostering WA & Fostering ID are a program of Family & Resource Training Center based out of Eastern Washington University’s College of Social Sciences.

Coordinated Care and Fostering WA believe that our youth deserve to be safe and cared for in the community in which they live. Whether you are able to provide care for one child or a sibling set, families are needed.

Pelicans partner with WMBF to help local schools

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 12, 2019) – With the summer drawing to an end and school starting back soon, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are partnering with WMBF News for the annual School Tools Drive. Fans who donate school supplies will receive a free drink ticket good for the final Pelicans game of the 2019 season.

Drink tickets are good for a 12oz. draft beer or regular soda between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 22 and will run from the time gates open until 8:00 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at the Box Office at TicketReturn.Com Field. All donations will benefit local students in need.

“The School Tools Drive with WMBF has become an annual event for us,” stated Pelican’s General Manager, Ryan Moore. “We are excited to continue the partnership and to help local students as they head back to the classroom.”

Donate to the Cardinals School Supplies Drive and get $1 tickets

Springfield, MO – The Springfield Cardinals are excited to partner with the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools to host the 2017 Stuff the Bus School Supplies Drive at Hammons Field.

Running right now through the Sunday, August 6 game at Hammons Field, the Cardinals are seeking donations of new school supplies. All fans that donate from the list of needed school supplies below may purchase a discounted $1 ticket to the August 6 game for each item donated.

To donate, please bring your new school supplies from the above list to the Cardinals Ticket Office at Gate 1 at Hammons Field. The Ticket Office is open from 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, and from 9am through the game on gamedays.

First Pitch on Sunday, August 6 is 6:10pm with gates opening at 5:10pm. Sunday also features the Sysco Foods Team Baseball Card Set Giveaway (2,000) and is a Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Sunday with free ice cream for kids before the game. All kids can also run the bases after the game.

SUNDAY: $5 OFF tickets, Merchandise discount with ‘Say Yes’ Dorm Room Drive Donations

Senator Tim Kennedy (D-Buffalo) joined representatives from Say Yes Buffalo, the Buffalo Bisons, and local community leaders at Coca-Cola Field Friday to announce a new partnership designed to equip Buffalo’s neediest scholars with necessities to succeed as they pursue higher education. As part of the Bisons’ Sunday afternoon game against Louisville fans are encouraged to bring school supplies to donate to Say Yes’ Dorm Room Drive; for every donation made, attendees will receive $5 off each ticket purchased, along with a voucher for 20% off merchandise in either of the two Bisons gift shops.

The Bisons game against the Louisville Bats will begin at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. Fans wishing to make a Say Yes donation can do so starting at 11:30 a.m. outside the ticket office.

Kennedy partnered with Say Yes to launch the drive in 2016 after learning that despite receiving free access to higher education, many Say Yes scholars can’t sustain enrollment due to a lack of tools needed to succeed, including school supplies, bedding, and other basic toiletries. According to Say Yes, approximately 50% of scholars have a combined family income below $25,000, and 70% are below $55,000, leaving many facing extreme poverty. Kennedy, Say Yes, and the Buffalo Bisons are hopeful Sunday’s gameday drive will help send scholars into their first semesters fully prepared.

“Say Yes has been a fantastic advocate for the students of Buffalo who do not have the means to attain a higher education. Last year, our Dorm Room Drive was met with an incredible response from the community, with hundreds of people stepping up to help our students who need it most. I’m thrilled that the Buffalo Bisons have joined our drive this year, demonstrating once again their commitment to Buffalo’s youth,” said Senator Kennedy. “The City of Good Neighbors has lived up to its name time and time again, and when it comes to supporting our students, I know this drive will be no different. Please come out and enjoy a great game of baseball with family and friends this weekend, and know that your donation will go a long way towards helping Buffalo’s next generation succeed.”

The Dorm Room Drive is currently underway across WNY, and extends beyond school supplies. A full list of the type of essentials needed is included below:

Laundry Kit – Laundry soap, hangers, fabric softener, laundry bag, and laundry basket.

Personal Care Kit – Shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, soap, brush, towels, washcloths, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shower shoes, and shower caddy.

Dorm Room Bedding Kit – Bed in a Bag set (for a male or female) that includes fitted sheet, flat sheet, comforter, and pillowcases plus a mattress cover and pillow. Please note: sheet size must be Twin XL to fit a standard dorm room mattress.

School Supplies Kit – Pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, binders, USB cord adapters, printer paper, index cards, post-it notes, dividers, and a heavy-duty backpack.

Bisons to hold Hillside School Supply Drive before game on Sunday, August 6

The Buffalo Bisons and Hillside Family of Agencies will be teaming up to help kids in need bring in the new school year the right way with a School Supply Drive at Coca-Cola Field on Sunday, August 6.

Any fan who brings in new or unused school supplies will receive a buy-one, get-one free ticket coupon for the Bisons’ home game that day against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (1:05 p.m.). Collection bins will be located outside the Coca-Cola Field Ticket Office starting an hour before first pitch.

Sunday’s matchup against the IronPigs will also be another Buster’s Kid Club game. As part of Buster’s Kid Club Sunday, fans will be able to enjoy Carnival Day at the ballpark. Bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals and much more will be set up in the Center Field Party Area.

Kids will also have the opportunity to run the bases after the game like their favorite Bisons players.

BlueClaws Collecting Art Supplies at Sunday’s Game

The BlueClaws will be collecting new art supplies at Sunday’s game.

The Camden Schools Foundation will be at FirstEnergy Park on Sunday collecting new art supplies to benefit students in the district. Anyone that donates will receive two general admission tickets for a BlueClaws game between May 22nd and 28th.

There will be a table on the concourse behind home plate where fans can drop of their supplies.

Sunday’s game, which starts at 1:05 pm, is also Buster’s Birthday. Buster’s mascot friends will be on hand to celebrate the big day. Plus, like every Sunday:

  • Barks and Beers – Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs and the BlueClaws have $2 Coronas available (21/older) at the game.
