Touch-a-Truck Returns to FirstEnergy Stadium

(Reading, PA) – FirstEnergy Stadium is excited to host the Junior League of Reading’s Annual Touch-a-Truck Event! On Saturday, May 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, families will have the opportunity to check out unique local vehicles, including trucks, race cars, motorcycles, safety vehicles and more, from all across the region, plus visit a variety of vendor tables, including ballpark food!

This year’s Touch-A-Truck will host a sensory friendly hour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for children with autistic spectrum disorders and those requiring a quieter environment. At this exclusive hour, all trucks, cars, and emergency vehicles will not utilize their horns and sirens.

Touch-a-Truck is a hands-on learning experience for children to explore a variety of large trucks, heavy machinery, recreation vehicles, farm equipment, emergency vehicles, motorcycles and much more! Children of all ages are welcome to the event, which will also feature additional family-friendly entertainment, children’s activities, and more.

In addition to the great lineup of diverse vehicles, there will be free Phunland rides, live performances, children’s activities, ballpark food favorites, and much more. The Reading Fightin Phils are excited to once again be a partner in the annual Touch-a-Truck event.

BlueClaws Collecting Diapers at May 5th Game

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The BlueClaws are partnering with Child Care Resources on a Diaper Drive at the 6:35 pm game on Thursday, May 5th.

Fans can drop off diapers at the ballpark that night at a trailer along the third base concourse behind Section 110. The diapers will then be distributed throughout the Jersey Shore by Child Care Resources.

“There is indeed a strong need for diapers around the Jersey Shore and we’re happy to help collect diapers and raise awareness for the need,” said Jim McNamara, executive director of BlueClaws Charities. “We’re fortunate enough to work with a great organization in Child Care Resources and help them with their year-round efforts.”

Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers, to remain clean, dry, and healthy. Unlike other basic needs such as food and heat, there are no government ‘safety net’ programs that help families obtain diapers. Kim Perrelli, Executive Director of Child Care Resources explains that providing diapers to a family in need can lead to outcomes like “an increase in parental happiness and a reduction in stress. It also helps with the ability to spend income on other basic needs.”

Christ Church and St. Joe's Take Center Stage Thursday at Fluor Field

Two Upstate high school baseball programs will take center stage Thursday night at Fluor Field, as the Christ Church Cavaliers take on the St. Joe’s Knights. This will be the final high school game of the year at Fluor Field. First pitch between the Cavaliers and Knights is set for 6 PM.

All tickets are just $7, and can be purchased by clicking HERE.

The Main Street Gate at Fluor Field will open at 5 PM. Due to the construction of the all-new District 356 entertainment area, Field Street (first base side of the ballpark) will be closed off to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Concession stands will be open at Fluor Field, and outside food and beverage is prohibited. In conjunction with SCHSL rules, alcohol will not be sold during Thursday’s game at Fluor Field.

Hot Rods Chosen to Receive Truist Spirit of Community Award

*Bowling Green, Kentucky *– On Sunday, the Volunteers in Action executive committee recognized the Bowling Green Hot Rods as their 2022 Truist Spirit of Community Award winner. The Hot Rods join other local businesses and organizations that have won the award including Tony Rose, Crocker Law Firm, Houchens Industries, Chick-Fil-A, and American Legion – Post 23.

Eric C. Leach, Hot Rods General Manager and COO, and Kyle Wolz, Assistant General Manager, received the award at the Warren County Public Library on behalf of the Hot Rods organization on Sunday. The team has been involved in various community initiatives since its start in 2009. The Hot Rods have volunteered and partnered with local organizations like Boyz to Men, the Stuff the Bus Foundation, Kids on the Block, Norton Children’s Hospital, Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky, Norton Children’s Hospital, and numerous other charitable organizations.

Most recently, the Hot Rods jumped in to aid the community after the devastating tornados that laid waste to Bowling Green and the surrounding areas. The front office assisted in cleaning up from the storm’s damage while also spearheading a charity auction featuring items from all over the country that were donated by various sports teams, colleges, and organizations. On April 10, the team also had #BGStrong day where the Hot Rods wore special jerseys on the field which were auctioned off following the game. All of the proceeds went to continued tornado relief efforts in the area.

“The community of Bowling Green has given us so much since we opened our gates in 2009,” Leach said. “We’ve been able to develop a beautiful ballpark downtown thanks to this amazing city and all the people in it. We’re incredibly honored and humbled to receive this award. It’s a testament to the hard work everyone at our organization has done and continues to do, to make sure we’re always trying our absolute best to be an active member of the community.”

The Hot Rods have also taken on various causes at Bowling Green Ballpark during the season, including hosting an annual Easter Egg Hunt, hosting a community organization of the night at each game, and introducing the Bolidos de Bowling Green alternate identity to celebrate Hispanic heritage in the community.

The Hot Rods proudly accept the 2022 Truist Spirit of the Community award and can’t wait to continue their partnership and work with the South Central Kentucky community!

Sod Poodles, Fairly Group Announce 'Home Runs For Hope'

Amarillo, TX – The Amarillo Sod Poodles, Fairly Group, and Hope Choice are proud to partner for the 2022 season, providing Home Runs For Hope. For every Sod Poodles home run hit throughout the 2022 season, Fairly Group will donate $1,000 to Hope Choice.

Hope Choice is a ministry-based organization that offers services for individuals and families who are facing everyday struggles and cultural pressures. Hope Choice opened its doors in 1998 as a crisis pregnancy center and has since expanded its services to include mentoring programs as well as character-building programs in more than 90+ schools. Hope Choice and its school-based programs reach 24,000 students each month. Their mentoring groups are designed to teach character values and help build self-esteem in young people who face a variety of challenges in their daily lives.

Scrappers Announce Partnership with the Fairhaven Foundation and Trumbull County Board of DD for Specialty Team Jersey Auction

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers are excited to unveil the fourth in a series of five specialty jersey nights during the 2022 season. The Scrappers have partnered with the Fairhaven Foundation and Trumbull County Board of DD to create a specialty jersey that the Scrappers players will wear for Developmental DisABILITIES Awareness Night on Friday, June 24th against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The jersey design was inspired by the artwork of three individuals served by the Trumbull County Board of DD. Artists will be recognized at the June 24th Scrappers game. Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off in person at the game and also online at mvscrappers.com and LiveSource. Jersey proceeds will benefit the Fairhaven Foundation.

GO Blue For CASA Event Set For May 5

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, have teamed up with CASA for a child advocate event at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday, May 5 for the 6:35 p.m. game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays).

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy declared April 2022 as CASA Child Advocate Month in celebration of the work CASA volunteers do on behalf of the state’s most vulnerable children.

The Patriots will host GO Blue for CASA Night and encourage fans to wear blue to the game as part of the event designed to build awareness around child abuse.

There will be 139 lawn signs located in front of TD Bank Ballpark to represent all the children served in foster care in 2021.

“We’re so excited to team up with the Somerset Patriots to celebrate our CASA Child Advocate volunteers as well as build awareness around child abuse and the impact within our communities,” said Ellen Davis Director of Development CASA SHaW.

Community-Focused Nights Added to Cannon Ballers Schedule

(KANNAPOLIS, N.C.) – Community initiatives have remained a core focus for the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and today the team announced a variety of additional highlights for the 2022 season.

This Saturday, April 23rd, the Ballers will host their inaugural HBCU Night at Atrium Health Ballpark. The night will highlight the impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and feature a live pregame performance by the Livingstone College Marching Blue Thunder. High school students will also have the opportunity to meet with admissions representatives from Johnson C. Smith University, Winston-Salem State University, and many others.

The Cannon Ballers also announced their first ever Pride Night taking place on Wednesday, July 6th. Celebrating inclusion and support for members of the LGBTQ+ community, Pride Night will include in-game programming highlighted by Salisbury Pride, as well as live performances from the Charlotte Pride Band, One Voice Chorus, and Courtney Lynn & Quinn. Merchandise featuring the team’s rainbow-colored logo will also be available in the Cannon City Supply Co. Team Store.

On Friday, August 26th, the Cannon Ballers will host Women in Sports Night at Atrium Health Ballpark. The night will welcome special guest appearances from female athletes, coaches, front office, and media members that have made a profound impact within the sports industry. On the following day, Saturday, August 27th, the team will host their 2nd annual Starry Night benefiting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. As part of a special on-field postgame ceremony, the team, players, and all in attendance will light up the ballpark with colored lanterns in support of finding a cure for childhood brain tumors.

The 2022 season also features a variety of theme nights focused on additional community groups such as Boy Scout Night (June 10th), Girl Scout Night (July 22nd), and Faith Night (June 24th). Celebrating heroes who serve our communities throughout the year, the Cannon Ballers will be hosting a special Armed Forces Night (May 21st) and First Responders Night (August 9th).

Fisher Cats Create Fund to Support Families of First Responders

Manchester, N.H. – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Fisher Cats Foundation are proud to introduce a new charitable initiative to support the families of New Hampshire Police and Firefighters in need: The First Responders Fund.

The Fisher Cats were inspired by the bravery of Captain Steve DeRuisseaux as well as all firefighters, police, and EMS who work day and night to keep our communities safe. After reaching out to Captain DeRuisseaux to offer support following is heroic actions last November, the Captain suggested creating a way to support all First Responders and the parties worked together to create the Fisher Cats First Responders Fund.

The fund will officially launch as part of First Responders Night at Delta Dental Stadium on Thursday, August 11 at 7:05 p.m.

Fifty percent of the proceeds from the individual tickets sold on First Responders Night will benefit the fund, as well as the in-game 50/50 raffle and boot pass collection. The Fisher Cats Foundation will also make a $2,500 donation and contribute a portion of the funds from the annual Granite State Baseball Dinner to the cause.

The Fisher Cats are proud to have iHeartMedia as a promotional partner for the First Responders Fund.

“These men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities,” Fisher Cats President Mike Ramshaw said. “As part of the First Responders Fund, we’ll work with local police and fire departments to identify families in need, and we’ll support those families through our fundraising efforts.”

“I would like to thank the Fisher Cats organization for their initiative in supporting the Greater Manchester First Responders,” Manchester Fire Chief Andre R. Parent said. “Fire, Police and EMS all serve our community unconditionally to provide emergency services to our citizens in their greatest times of need. Often times, First Responders find themselves in need of help also. This initiative will help our members overcome some unforeseen obstacles in their personal lives. Annual Cutters 5K Race Set for June 11

The Williamsport Crosscutters, in partnership with Hope Enterprises, will be holding the Annual Cutters 5K on Saturday, June 11 at Muncy Bank Ballpark sponsored in part by; Eder’s Ice Cream, Hamilton Patriot, Horizon FCU, iHeart Media, Lamar, Muncy Bank & Trust, UPMC, the UPMC Health Plan, Williamsport Sun-Gazette, & Woodlands Bank.

The race, through Williamsport’s west end, begins at 9am with registration open at 8am. The course has runners starting outside the ballpark entrance with the final leg taking place inside the stadium. Both runners and walkers are encouraged to take part in the event. All proceeds benefit Hope Enterprise and The Hope Foundation

“Hope is humbled by the longstanding support the Williamsport Crosscutters provide year after year,” said Hope Enterprises CEO/President Rob Labatch. “The Cutter’s 5K gives our community the opportunity to support Hope’s mission while helping us to celebrate our 70 years of success.”

Renegades launch 'Gades Give Back Ticket Program'

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (April 18, 2022) – The Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced the Gades Give Back Ticket Program, a brand-new community initiative that honors and gives back to groups of individuals that help lead, educate, secure, care for and protect our communities and nation.

The Renegades have selected different groups of people whom will have the opportunity to receive two (2) free Valley Reserved tickets to a home game during their group’s honored month.

“We are always looking for ways to give back to the community and honor those who serve our communities,” said Steve Gliner, President and General Manager of the Renegades. “The ‘Gades Give Back’ program is just another way that we can say thank you to the people who help our communities and our nation on a daily basis.”

The selected groups for the 2022 season are as follows:

  • April – Government Employees (includes town/city employees, county employees, state employees and federal employees)
  • May – First Responders (includes EMS, firefighters, police, corrections officers and security personnel)
  • June – Education Staff (includes teachers, principals, school counselors and coaches, administrative staff, janitorial staff, and cafeteria staff)

Sea Dogs welcome first Sustainability Partner, Arcadia, as part of Club’s comprehensive sustainability strategy

Portland, Maine– The Portland Sea Dogs welcome their first Sustainability Partner, Arcadia, as part of their refreshed and comprehensive approach to sustainability. This season, the club will build a sustainability strategy around the opportunities to create positive community impact, including through tactical solutions in the stadium and through fan engagement initiatives and game day activations within the Portland community.

As part of Arcadia’s Sustainability Partnership, they will be leading a program titled “Sustainable Sundays” to feature several local partners who are taking and inspiring sustainable action on an individual or organization level.

“We’re thrilled to support the Sea Dogs again and to bring fans Sustainable Sundays,” said Kate Henningsen, co-founder and COO of Arcadia. “We’re especially excited to highlight the phenomenal work that our partner organizations are doing across Maine. Together, we can help fans hit it out of the park with sustainable actions to make a lasting impact.”

Sustainable Sundays will showcase environmentally-focused themes throughout the baseball season, such as featuring the Bike Coalition of Maine during National Bike Month. “We are excited to partner with Arcadia and the Portland Sea Dogs for National Bike Month! Clean energy and active transportation go hand in hand!” said Jean Sideris, the Executive Director of the Bike Coalition of Maine.

In addition to Sustainability Sundays, fans should expect to see more sustainability-related promotional events throughout the season, starting with Earth Day in April.

“Sustainability isn’t new to us, but this new partnership helps us to put sustainability at the forefront. The time to take environmental action is now and a formal strategy will be important for helping us prioritize feasible solutions to take action. We’ll be announcing more about this later in the season,” said Geoff Iacuessa, Portland Sea Dogs President & General Manager.

To support this comprehensive sustainability strategy effort, the club has engaged Recipric as their Front Office Sustainability Agency, who will develop the club’s sustainability strategy and will provide tactical solutions for the club to take positive action. Recipric will engage the club throughout the season and fans can expect regular updates on the progress of those efforts.

The Blood Connection, Columbia Fireflies Partner to Increase Blood Donation in the Midlands

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Blood Connection and the Columbia Fireflies are proud to announce a new partnership in 2022 that will encourage blood donation in the Midlands and bring baseball fun to blood donors across the region. The Columbia Fireflies will now join the Lifesaver League – a group of minor league sports teams committed to serving their community through hosting blood drives and encouraging blood donation.

“We are proud to partner with The Blood Connection as part of the Lifesaver League to encourage Fireflies fans to help our local community by donating blood at one of the Blood Drives at the ballpark this summer,” said Ashlie DeCarlo, Director of Marketing for the Columbia Fireflies. “There is a critical need for blood donations right now and just one moment out of your day can help save a life.”

The Fireflies have called Columbia home for six years and were a perfect partner for The Blood Connection as the organization begins to service more hospitals in the Midlands region. The Blood Connection is the community blood center serving the Carolinas and Georgia, and supplies blood products to Prisma Health – Richland, MUSC Columbia, and Lexington Medical Center, along with more than forty others across South Carolina.

“Our Lifesaver League partnerships are a longstanding tradition within The Blood Connection, and we are excited to enter into this venture with the Columbia Fireflies,” said Delisa English, President and CEO of The Blood Connection. “We’re looking forward to reaching more potential blood donors across the Midlands by bringing our blood donation opportunities to Fireflies fans and Segra Park. Local hospitals certainly need their donations desperately.”

The Blood Connection and the Fireflies will hold three blood drives throughout the 2022 season:

– Thursday, April 14 from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.

o All blood donors will receive a Raglan t-shirt, a clear bag, and two tickets to a future Fireflies game. All donors will also be entered for a chance to win a VIP Ticket package.

– Sunday, June 26 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

o All blood donors will receive a Lifesaver League hat, a Dri-Fit t-shirt, and two tickets to a future Fireflies game. All donors will also be entered for a chance to win a VIP Ticket package.

– Thursday, September 8 from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.

o All blood donors will receive a Dugout mug and two free tickets to a future Fireflies game.

All donors will also be entered for a chance to win a VIP Ticket package. Potential donors can make an appointment to donate blood with the Fireflies by going to thebloodconnection.org/fireflies. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

Storm Chasers, Chasers Charities, share winners of 2022 Chasin’ Dreams grants

PAPILLION, Neb. – The Omaha Storm Chasers, in conjunction with Chasers Charities, are proud to announce the recipients of the first round of the Chasin’ Dreams Grant.

Cycle 1 recipients of the Chasin’ Dreams Grant include Junior Cougars Baseball, 4SA (non-profit arm of 4Seams Academy), and the Elkhorn Athletic Association. The grant provides funding to local non-profit organizations that help youth baseball and/or softball programs to help with major renovations at their facilities.

Junior Cougars Baseball will use funding to renovate the backstop at Omaha Gross Catholic High School’s baseball field, which is used by the high school team, the Junior Cougars’ U8-U14 teams, legion teams, and men’s over-30 and over-40 teams.

“The support of the Omaha Storm Chasers for our field project is so appreciated,” Junior Cougars Baseball, Inc. President Jim Hempel said. “It will allow us to replace our 30-year-old backstop with some much-needed updates. It will make the field safer and provide our fans with a much better viewing experience.”

4SA, which acquired fields at Aspen Park in the Sun Valley neighborhood in Bellevue, will use funding for fencing, new sod, and dugouts for fields used for free camps and clinics, tournaments and games for 4Seams Academy travel teams, as well as provide free/discounted field use for low-income teams.

“The Chasin’ Dreams Grant will help 4SA build a home field for hundreds of baseball & softball players throughout the Omaha/Metro area,” Co-Owner of 4Seams Academy and Secretary of 4SA Sean Schrader said. “The Grant will help with the cost of bringing these fields up to date. 4SA will build or is in the process of building roofs over the dugouts and installing fences at each field. It will also help with much needed equipment, such as mounds, bases, and paint for our future home. Future renovations include padded backstops, safety netting and permanent outfield fencing. 4SA appreciates everything the Omaha Storm Chasers have donated and want to thank them for their generosity”

The Elkhorn Athletic Association will use funding to add roofs to the existing dugouts at Arbor View Elementary Field, which is used by Elkhorn youth.

“Elkhorn Athletic Association is honored and thankful to receive a grant for building dugout covers on Arbor View Elementary School baseball field from the 2022 Chasin’ Dreams community outreach program,” EAA Executive Director Bruce O’Neel said. “EAA has a long-standing relationship with the Omaha Storm Chasers and enjoys having EAA night at Werner Park each year for our players and families. We admire and respect the Omaha Storm Chasers for being community-minded and investing in youth sports.”

Round Rock Express to Host Tornado Relief Fundraiser on Opening Day

 ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express are proud to partner with the Round Rock Community Foundation to host a tornado relief fundraiser during the club’s Opening Day game on Tuesday, April 5. A total of $5 from each ticket purchased using the promo code “RRStrong” via RRExpress.com will be donated to the Round Rock Cares fund through the Round Rock Community Foundation.

Round Rock Cares is a charitable fund managed by the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation. Fans who already purchased tickets but would still like to donate and those who wish to contribute further may do so by visiting RRExpress.com. Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan and Greater Round Rock Community Foundation Chair Nyle Maxwell launched the Round Rock Cares initiative to assist Round Rock citizens who were directly affected by the severe weather event that struck Round Rock on Monday, March 21.

“Many of our families and businesses face a long and difficult road ahead,” Mayor Morgan said in a statement. “In the days after the tornado, I’ve seen how our community has come together and helped each other, and the top concern of affected residents I’ve spoken with is how they will be impacted financially. This fund is intended to help people impacted by the storm get back on their feet faster, and give them some peace of mind so they can start rebuilding their lives.”

In the hours following the disaster, local community leaders from the Round Rock Police Department, Round Rock Fire Department, Austin Disaster Relief Network and American Red Cross set up a base camp at Dell Diamond to serve as a resource center for all residents that were impacted by the tornado. Volunteers provided essential items such as non-perishable food items, gift cards, pet supplies and even financial assistance to those in need.

“Giving back to the local community is one of the pillars that Dell Diamond and the Round Rock Express was built upon. We are honored to have been able to use our facility to assist those in need immediately after the tornado outbreak,” Round Rock Express President Chris Almendarez said. “On behalf of the Express organization, we would like to thank all of our local first responders, government leaders and volunteers for their quick and effective response. We invite the Round Rock community to join us on April 5 to help thank those individuals and raise money for those who remain in need.”

Dell Diamond also served as a home base for coordinating the community cleanup efforts. Local community leaders who were instrumental in Round Rock’s response to the disaster will be on hand for Opening Day on Tuesday, April 5.
