Blood Drive Hosted at Fluor Field During Wednesday's Game

As blood donations continue to have an urgent need in our Community, the Greenville Drive and The Blood Connection will host another Blood Drive at Fluor Field on Wednesday, April 20th. Blood mobiles will be setup along Field Street.

The Blood Drive will begin at 2 PM, and conclude with the first pitch of Wednesday’s game at 7 PM. Walk-up donations are allowed, but those wishing to donate are encouraged to pre-register for a time slot by clicking HERE.

Donors will receive a commemorative raglan t-shirt, clear bag, and a voucher for two tickets to a future Drive game!

REGISTRATION UNDERWAY FOR DRAGONS 5K

Dayton, Ohio – Registration is underway for the 12th annual Dragons 5K on Saturday, July 16, 2022 starting at 8:00 a.m. at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District with options to participate in-person or virtually. The event began in 2011 and has become a local tradition as one of the Miami Valley’s largest races with over 2,000 runners and walkers participating annually.

The Dragons 5K will continue offering a virtual option for those that prefer that method. Participants that sign up for the virtual option can complete the race on their own time, and then input their time online by July 16.

All race participants (including virtual) will receive a swag bag that includes a Dragons 5K T-shirt, Dragons 5K medal, Dragons hat, and four (4) lawn tickets to a future Dragons game. If participants sign up for the race in the first 30 days, they will receive two additional Dragons stadium tickets.

The registration fee is $30 for ages 18 and up and $20 for ages 17 and under. For the virtual race option, there is an additional charge of $10 for swag bag shipping. Fans can sign-up today to reserve their spot at www.daytondragons.com/dragons5ksignup.

The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. and participants may choose to run or walk the course. Baby strollers are permitted. The course will move through downtown Dayton and end back at Day Air Ballpark.

The top three male and female finishers will receive a specially-engraved baseball bat. The top three male and female runners in each age group will be awarded a Dragons Den e-gift card. Also, top finishing groups will receive great group prizes with the grand prize being a luxury suite at a Dragons game in 2023.

There will be fruit and water provided for participants after the race. Results will be provided to fans following the completion of the race. The winners of the top overall, individual age group, and group category will receive a notification from the Dragons via email by Monday, July 18. Cutters Announce Military Salute for 2022 Season

The Williamsport Crosscutters have announced a new program to honor active and retired military members during the 2022 season.

The program, Military Salute, is presented by EQT and will honor an active or retired member of the armed forces in pregame ceremonies at every Cutters home game this season.

Cutters Vice President of Marketing Gabe Sinicropi stated, “While our debt to those who have defended our freedom can never be repaid, we look forward to shining the spotlight on just some of the brave individuals from our area who are or have served our country. The Crosscutters are thrilled to be able to provide this well-deserved recognition to these men and women thanks to the support of our partner EQT.”

To nominate someone for the Military Salute program, simply fill out the short online nomination form AVAILABLE BY CLICKING HERE. Those chosen will receive;

The Blood Connection, Columbia Fireflies Partner to Increase Blood Donation in the Midlands

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Blood Connection and the Columbia Fireflies are proud to announce a new partnership in 2022 that will encourage blood donation in the Midlands and bring baseball fun to blood donors across the region. The Columbia Fireflies will now join the Lifesaver League – a group of minor league sports teams committed to serving their community through hosting blood drives and encouraging blood donation.

“We are proud to partner with The Blood Connection as part of the Lifesaver League to encourage Fireflies fans to help our local community by donating blood at one of the Blood Drives at the ballpark this summer,” said Ashlie DeCarlo, Director of Marketing for the Columbia Fireflies. “There is a critical need for blood donations right now and just one moment out of your day can help save a life.”

The Fireflies have called Columbia home for six years and were a perfect partner for The Blood Connection as the organization begins to service more hospitals in the Midlands region. The Blood Connection is the community blood center serving the Carolinas and Georgia, and supplies blood products to Prisma Health – Richland, MUSC Columbia, and Lexington Medical Center, along with more than forty others across South Carolina.

– Sunday, June 26 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Wind Surge Re-launches Reading Program in Partnership with Credit Union of America

The Wind Surge are excited to finally relaunch the Wichita Wind Surge Reading Program, in partnership with Credit Union of America.

The mission of the four-week reading program is to improve literacy while rewarding students for making time outside of the classroom to read. Sports promote health through physical activities, the brain is a muscle that needs exercise. Reading stimulates language skills and helps them to engage better with peers and educators.

We love to see children who participate gaining rewards while goals are met. After a student meets a goal, they get a “HIT.” Each “HIT” collects new prizes from sponsors – Whole Foods, Red Robin and Chick-Fil-A. Children must complete each base goal before moving forward.

Participating schools will have the option to host a kick-off assembly. A member from the office and Windy the mascot will come and explain the program’s process while getting children excited about receiving a free ticket.

All classrooms will be given a poster to track each student’s progress throughout the program and teachers will determine each week’s reading goal to fit their own lesson plans.

There are no additional requirements, only prizes for students. Prizes will be delivered to the school by Wind Surge staff members.

“We’re just really excited to help the teachers,” Director of Fan Experience Bob Moullette said. “It’s been a long two-and-a-half years for educators. Anyway, we can incentivize the reading goals already set in the classrooms to help them out and reward all the kids to come out to the ballpark, is a win win for everyone. We’re excited to get those schools out here representing.”

Now Accepting Most Improved Student Nominations

Bridgewater, New Jersey- The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, and NJEA are accepting nominations for most improved students to be honored at TD Bank Ballpark this season.

The Most Improved Student program is designed to recognize those students that have shown improvement in various areas throughout the 2021-2022 school year including social, behavioral and academic categories. Students must be nominated by their teacher!

Sea Dogs hold food drive to benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank

Portland, Maine– The Portland Sea Dogs, in partnership with Maine Credit Unions, will hold their annual Food Drive which will run from Monday, February 7th through Friday, February 25th. All the collected food items will be donated to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

As in the past, this year’s food drive will be “Buy One, Bring One, Get One.” For every ticket purchased and every donated food item you bring, you will receive a free Sea Dogs ticket to the same game. For example, if you buy three tickets to the June 28th game and bring in three food items, you will receive three additional complimentary tickets of equal or lesser value to the June 28th game. The offer is good for Reserved, and General Admission seating, subject to availability.

Fans may take advantage of this offer by bringing their non-perishable food items to the Hadlock Field Box Office. The Sea Dogs Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Each year the Sea Dogs have been able to donate hundreds of food items to the Good Shepherd Food Bank thanks to the generosity of Sea Dogs’ fans.

The 2022 season will be the Sea Dogs’ 29th season in Portland and 20th as an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The Sea Dogs open the season on Friday, April 8th at Hadlock Field against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. RiverDogs Partner with CCSD for Sixth Year of “Reading Around the Bases”

The Charleston RiverDogs and the Charleston County School District have announced plans to commence the sixth year of their literacy initiative, “Reading Around the Bases.” The program began during the 2016-2017 school year to promote having fun while reading with second graders throughout the county.

Starting on Tuesday, January 25, second graders from over 20 elementary schools in CCSD will begin a 10-week baseball-themed incentive program. Every student will receive a Reading Challenge packet that includes a scorecard and tracking sheet. To move around the bases on the scorecard, a student must read a certain number of pages: 100 pages for a single, 200 pages for a double, 300 pages for a triple, and 500 pages for a home run.

This year’s kickoff event for “Reading Around the Bases” will be at Murray-LaSaine Montessori School on James Island on January 25 at 9:00 a.m. RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols, other members of the front office staff and Charlie T. RiverDog will participate in the event. Media outlets are welcome to attend.

“The RiverDogs are proud to continue the outstanding relationship with the Charleston County School District that has existed since I have been a part of the organization,” added RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols. “Literacy and education are vital for the development of young members of the Charleston community, and we are excited to continue impacting students in the sixth year of this tremendous program.”

Special guests from the RiverDogs will visit schools in CCSD over the course of the next few months to provide encouragement and engage the students as volunteer readers.

“We continue to be impressed with and grateful for the effort the RiverDogs put into in this initiative, and for their continued support of our district,” said CCSD’s Chief Academic Officer, Karolyn Belcher. “Credit goes to Christy James and our teacher-librarians as well. They do so much work behind the scenes to make this a memorable and enjoyable program for our students.”

The top-25 second graders from each participating school will be honored at a select RiverDogs game during the upcoming season.

The RiverDogs will open the 2022 season at home against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Friday, April 8. Swoop & Stu’s Reading Club Returns for 2022

SOUTH BEND, IN – With winter break over and many schools resuming class, the South Bend Cubs are proud to announce the return of Swoop & Stu’s Reading Club, presented by Indiana 811 and NIPSCO. Teachers and administrators have until February 7 to register.

Swoop and Stu’s Reading Club is an incentive-based reading program where teachers set goals for their students to match the reading levels in their classroom. Each goal corresponds with a base on a baseball diamond and intended to last four weeks. The program begins March 2 to coincide with National Read Across America Day established by the National Education Association (NEA).

Students will be rewarded with prizes from the South Bend Cubs and local businesses for each goal completed. After students complete all four bases, they will receive a complimentary ticket to a South Bend Cubs home game, valid for the school’s designated Reading Club Night.

Registration is open until February 7 with packets scheduled to be delivered to participating schools the week of February 21. South Bend Cubs mascots Stu and Swoop will make appearances to selected schools who participate in the program. Due to the number of requests, appearances are limited.

BOISE, ID: The Boise Hawks, the Pioneer Baseball League Southern Division Champions, have announced their annual Winter Glove Drive. For each new pair of winter gloves donated, fans will receive a complimentary General Admission ticket for Opening Night 2022 (Saturday, May 28 vs. Idaho Falls).

MODESTO NUTS RELEASE 2021 COMMUNITY IMPACT REPORT

MODESTO, CA – The report covers the 2021 fiscal year and discloses the Nuts contributions of over $170,000 to community related programs.

“It was an absolute honor to return in 2021 and offer Stanislaus County a safe, affordable place to enjoy friends, family & co-workers,” said Zach Brockman, General Manager of the Modesto Nuts. “We are supremely confident that our organization will complete that comeback in 2022 and get back to hosting more fans and attending more community events. Donations, in-kind services & direct support for quality-of-life projects in the Modesto area will return in full. We couldn’t be more excited for the future!“

With the help of The Parks Group and Mocse Credit Union, the Modesto Nuts began the Health and Wellness Program with over 10 schools enrolled and about 10,000 students participated. The Health and Wellness Program motivated children to focus on mental health, physical health, and cleanliness by offering performance-based incentives from Save Mart, Health Plan of San Joaquin, and The Modesto Nuts.

Non-profit organizations and little leagues used the Modesto Nuts ticket fundraising program to generate much needed funds. Additionally, the Nuts donated gift baskets which included game tickets, premium suites & autographed memorabilia.

Modesto front office donated their time generously to different organizations throughout the community. From school career fairs, to little league opening days, and much more; the Modesto Nuts were able to teach important values such as chasing dreams, having integrity and working hard for what they want.

BlueClaws, RWJBarnabas Health Partner on January 18th Blood Drive

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The BlueClaws and RWJBarnabas Health will partner on a Blood Drive at FirstEnergy Park on Tuesday, January 18th from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended and can be made by clicking here or calling 732-235-8100 ext 221 or 248. There is limited availability within each 15-minute time slot to ensure social distancing protocols will be followed. While the need for blood is typically highest in the summer, the COVID-19 pandemic has further depleted the blood supply, making drives like these all the more important.

All donors are instructed to eat and drink prior to the donation and to bring a photo ID. Masks or cloth face coverings are required for entry. Those that have been exposed to or cared for a positive COVID-19 patient within 28 days prior to the drive are not eligible to donate.

A screening will take place on the ground level before donors enter the lobby outside the ballpark.

All donors will receive two FREE BlueClaws tickets for the 2022 season and be entered to WIN a $50.00 gift card and a BlueClaws VIP experience for 20 people that includes a Luxury Suite and 20 Boardwalk and Mini Golf passes.

TinCaps Reading Program Ready for 2022

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Enrollment is now open for the 2022 Fort Wayne TinCaps Reading Program.

Educators can sign up at TinCapsReading.com.

The deadline to enroll in the program is Tuesday, December 7.

With the TinCaps Reading Program, educators work with students to set requirements and goals, such as a number of books to read, a number of pages to read, hours spent reading, etc. The TinCaps Reading Program, which comes at absolutely no cost for schools and students, can be used to supplement an existing curriculum.

Students who achieve their goals, rounding the bases to reach “home plate,” are rewarded with a complimentary ticket to a TinCaps game at Parkview Field on a select date, plus receive a voucher for a hot dog, a drink, and a special prize.

See below for a list of Reading Program game dates during the 2022 TinCaps season.

The TinCaps supply educators with the necessary materials to implement the program and distribute ticket order forms to students.

Teachers also receive a free game ticket, and can schedule an appearance at their school by the TinCaps’ mascot, Johnny.

For more than a decade, the TinCaps Reading Program has proven to be a fun way to encourage reading development across hundreds of schools around the region, benefitting thousands of students.

“As the son of a long-time educator myself, I’m very proud of the fact that we have one of the top literacy programs in the entire country among professional sports teams,” said TinCaps President Mike Nutter. “This is completely free for schools. Especially given the challenges of the last couple years, now more than ever, it’s important for us to support our local teachers.”

The TinCaps, who are the High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres in Minor League Baseball, are scheduled to have their 2022 home opener on Tuesday, April 12 against the South Bend Cubs. Click here for the team’s full 66-game home schedule that features 25 fireworks nights.

In 2021, Parkview Field was rated the No. 1 game-day experience at the High-A level of Minor League Baseball and tied for No. 1 throughout all levels up through Triple-A.

Read & Hit a Home Run Reading Program Returns For 2022

Bowie, Md: The Bowie Baysox are excited to announce the return of their “Read & Hit a Home Run” Reading Program in partnership with Educational Systems Federal Credit Union for the 2021-2022 school year. This year marks the program’s 25th year working with schools to encourage literacy education around the region.

The program, which began in 1996 (the 4th season of Baysox Baseball), works with over 200 schools across the DMV region, impacting over 35,000 elementary and middle school students a year. Those numbers include public schools, private schools and area homeschools/co-ops, helping encourage and foster an excitement for literacy in students.

Registration for the free program is now open for the 2021-22 school year. Public, Private and Home Schools can register for the program HERE. Registered schools can participate in the program by having their students read four (4) books during the given time frame. Every student that completes the reading goal will receive two free tickets to their school’s Read & Hit a Home Run Reading Program Rewards game during the Baysox 2022 season. Students that completed the program will be recognized for their accomplishments during the game.

All reading teachers & media specialists and homeschool teachers/directors are encouraged to register their school. Once registered, all students can participate in a jersey design contest, with the winning design being unveiled at a school assembly. Actual jerseys will be made out of the winning design, and those jerseys will be worn by the Baysox players during a game. The game worn jerseys will be auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the school of the winning designer.
