RANCHO CUCAMONGA – For the ninth consecutive year, LoanMart and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have partnered to award a total of three $1,000 scholarships to local college-bound students.

Selected based on the criteria of leadership, community involvement and character, this year’s competitive pool of applicants submitted personal statements, letters of recommendation and records of academic performance.

“The Quakes are proud to continue to team with LoanMart and reward these three exemplary students,” said Quakes Vice President – General Manager Grant Riddle. “With so many impressive and deserving applications submitted, this year’s decision process was a challenge, but we’re very confident in the future success awaiting these accomplished students.”

All three recipients finished high school with GPAs of 4.0 or higher and were members of their school’s National Honor Society.

A multi-sport athlete and active member of her school’s Best Buddies program, Fochtman’s teachers noted her ‘compassion, self-discipline, and integrity’. She is attending UC Davis to study Neurobiology.

As a notable and talented flutist, Aichlmayer was chosen to perform in many area honor bands, including the iconic Rose Parade Marching Band. She plans to study Biological Sciences at UC Irvine this fall.

Headed to Stanford to pursue an English degree, Melillo was recognized for his outstanding high school career and selected as student of the year in multiple advanced placement subjects.

The Quakes will announce Fochtman, Aichlmayer, and Melillo’s selection on social media.

Never Forget.

Twenty years ago, the world came to a halt. Flights 11 and 175 were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Centers in New York City. Flight 77 was hijacked and flown into the Pentagon. Flight 93 was hijacked, but after passengers and crew re-took control, the plane crash-landed in a Pennsylvania field leaving no survivors. 2996 Americans lost their lives that day, which includes the lives of hundreds of first responders.

The Beloit Snappers, in conjunction with Minor League Baseball, will honor the lives of those lost on 9/11 with several gestures of remembrance.

Before Saturday’s game, the Snappers will pause for a moment of silence. The Snappers grounds crew will stencil in 9/11 behind home plate and place a fireman and policeman hat on either side during the moment of silence. First responders will also be recognized prior to the National Anthem.

Deputy Chief Jason Griffin and Lieutenant Michael Cullen from the City of Beloit Fire Department Honor Guard and Officer Kristian Zimmerman from the City of Beloit Police Department will assist with the raising of the American Flag during the ceremony. Retired Army Sergeant Bill Schenk will raise the American Flag. The flag will be lowered to half staff to honor the fallen men and women who passed on 9/11.

The Delmarva Shorebirds will be wearing special Patriotic Jerseys on Saturday, September 11, 2021 to honor the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with proceeds benefitting Operation We Care. The jerseys are auctioned off online from Saturday, September 11 to Sunday, September 19 and fans can place their bids starting at noon on September 11, 2021 on these authentic game-worn, autographed jerseys by clicking here or the button below.

Bids start at $100 increasing in increments of $10 and fans can choose whether to have the jersey shipped to them or picked up at the stadium at checkout. In addition, auctions will end between the hours of 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM on Sunday, September 19. If a bid is placed with less than 5 minutes left in the auction, 5 minutes will be added extending the auction.

After the jersey auction is completed, the Shorebirds will reach out to the winners to inform everyone when the jerseys are ready for pickup or the timeline to be mailed out

Bees to Honor First Responders on Sept. 11

SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 10, 2021) – The Salt Lake Bees have several events planned to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The Bees will start the day by turning on the Smith’s Ballpark stadium lights at 6:46 a.m. (MT), the time American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The lights at the stadium will remain on for 24 hours to honor the victims of 9/11.

Prior to the game, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall will join the Bees in leading a moment of silence. An honor guard of Salt Lake City Fire and Police will conduct a flag ceremony, and the Salt Lake City Fire Department Choir will perform the National Anthem.

Tickets for the game on Saturday are half price for first responders using a link sent to them by Mayor Mendenhall and Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson as a thank you for their sacrifice and service.

The Bees will also be collecting food and clothing donations throughout the day at Smith’s Ballpark to benefit Utah Food Bank and Shelter the Homeless as part of Larry H. Miller’s Driven to Assist program. Fans that bring a donation will receive two ticket vouchers for any Bees game during the 2021 season. All non-perishable food items will be accepted, but among the most needed items are:

· peanut butter

· mac & cheese

· canned meats

· canned fruits

· boxed meals.

New socks and underwear or gently used clothing (including coats and closed-toe shoes) for children and adults will be accepted, and there is an urgent need for menstrual products.

First pitch against the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Saturday night is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Smith’s Ballpark.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The BlueClaws and RWJBarnabas Health will partner on a Blood Drive at FirstEnergy Park on Monday, September 20th from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended and can be made by clicking here or calling 732-235-8100 ext 221 or 248. There is limited availability within each 15-minute time slot to ensure social distancing protocols will be followed. While the need for blood is typically highest in the summer, the COVID-19 pandemic has further depleted the blood supply, making drives like these all the more important.

All donors are instructed to eat and drink prior to the donation and to bring a photo ID. Masks or cloth face coverings are required for entry. Those that have been exposed to or cared for a positive COVID-19 patient within 28 days prior to the drive are not eligible to donate.

A screening will take place on the ground level before donors enter the lobby outside the ballpark.

On Saturday, September 11 the Rocket City Trash Pandas, in conjunction with AUSA, are proud to host a special Tribute Night at Toyota Field as we honor and remember our heroes in recognition of the 20th Anniversary.

This tribute day will feature events throughout the day, capped off by a softball game featuring the USA Patriots against the BeArded WARRIORS, a dazzling post-game fireworks display, and a live concert after the game with Brandon Elder. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the event.

Pre-Game Activities

  • 9/11 Memorial Service: Madison Fire and Police departments will be hosting a memorial service beginning at 8:30 a.m. in honor of all of those who perished on September 11, 2001.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will donate $10 for every home run that the RailRiders hit during the 2021 season to the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank in Pittston.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has hit 120 home runs so far this season, putting the current donation total at $1,200. The RailRiders have 21 games remaining this season, including the remainder of the regular season and The Final Stretch.

“We are proud to partner with our friends at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on this important initiative,” said Brian Rinker, Market President at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. “Now more than ever, we want to support local organizations that address hunger and food insecurity in our community. We wish the RailRiders the best of luck for a successful finish to the season!”

In our region, one in six children and one in eight adults face hunger each day. The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank is a Feeding America partner and works to reduce hunger and promote proper nutrition in addition to preventing food waste. The Food Bank serves four counties in Northeast Pennsylvania: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, and Wyoming.

The Omaha Storm Chasers and Union Omaha announced today the launch of the Hurricane Ida Relief Drive which will collect essential items to be distributed to those affected by Hurricane Ida. The drive is set to begin on Saturday, September 11 at the Union Omaha soccer match at Werner Park and concludes following the Storm Chasers home game on September 19.

The Storm Chasers and Union Omaha have partnered with NRG Media and Werner Enterprises to help spread the word and get the donated items transported to High Voltage, a New Orleans based non-profit providing programs and support to the local New Orleans area. All items can be donated at Werner Park during designated drop off windows:

PEARL, MS – On Saturday, September 11, the Mississippi Braves, in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, and commissioner Sean Tindell, will remember and honor the bravery of American citizens and first responders on the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with special pregame events, videos, and patriotic post-game fireworks.

All first responders, active-duty and retired military, and Mississippi Department of Public Safety employees will receive two complimentary tickets to the 6:05 pm game against the Montgomery Biscuits. The tickets will be available at the Trustmark Park box office by simply presenting your work ID or law enforcement badge.

“This will be the first time in team history the M-Braves have had a home game at Trustmark Park on September 11,” added Pete Laven, vice president, and general manager of the Mississippi Braves. “As an organization, we want to pay our respects to all of those that lost their lives on that day 20 years ago and honor them and our local first responders through our national pastime.”

BROOKLYN, NY – September 9, 2021 — The Brooklyn Cyclones are going gold for pediatric cancer this September and joining forces with Connor’s Cure to join in the fight against Pediatric Cancer. For all remaining September home games – starting Tuesday, September 14th and running through Sunday, September 19th – the Cyclones will be raising funds for this very worthy cause.

Connor’s Cure, which was originally established at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation in memory of Connor Michalek – an 8-year-old who battled medulloblastoma, a rare tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord – and has since partnered with WWE ® and The V Foundation for Cancer Research to raise millions of dollars in the fight against cancer.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Connor’s Cure to raise funds for such a worthy cause,” said Cyclones Assistant General Manager, Gary Perone. “We pride ourselves as an organization on being active members of our community and there are few causes that mean more to us than the fight against Pediatric Cancer and what Connor’s Cure stands for.”

As part of the Cyclones efforts, fans can purchase special ticket packages which will include the opportunity to take a photo with the Brooklyn Cyclones WWE Championship Title – which is awarded to the game MVP after each Cyclones victory. On Thursday, September 16th the fundraising will become even more personal for the organization as we honor one of the members of our kid’s dance team Pee Wee’s Dance Crew who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and battled bravely for years before passing away earlier this year. We will be honoring the life of our beloved Gianna throughout the game, including special dance performances from her friends and teammates, as well as a special ceremony with her family prior to the start of that night’s 7:00 PM game. Proceeds from tickets purchased for this game, through THIS LINK will benefit the Gianna Effect Foundation.

Gianna was a WWE fan herself, and even had the chance to meet WWE Superstars while undergoing treatment.

The Internship program will provide a great opportunity for interns looking to immerse themselves in a full-service sports and entertainment venue.

Upperclassman and recent college graduates have the opportunity to get directly involved and gain hands on experience in multiple aspects of Minor League Baseball including marketing, sales, ticket operations, merchandise, customer service, concessions, public relations, graphic design and many other aspects of the sports industry. Interns work directly with the front office staff to get an overview of all of the different positions. Each intern will be a valuable piece of our operation and will work on meaningful tasks that directly contribute to the success of the R-Phils.

Interns are hired on a rolling basis beginning in November. Internships begin in November, January and May. Internships can last 3-10 months depending on the department. Full time interns may work approximately 25-40 a week during the offseason. The winter internship asks employees to be creative and have attention to detail as the team plans for a full season of baseball and entertainment.

MOOSIC, PA (September 6, 2021) – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will host First Responders & Military Appreciation Night on September 11 when the RailRiders take on the Rochester Red Wings at PNC Field. In appreciation of those men and women who support and sacrifice daily for our nation, the RailRiders are offering two free tickets to all first responders as well as active duty and veterans of our Armed Forces.

PEARL, MS – In partnership with the Mississippi Braves, Humana will be hosting a canned Food Drive benefiting the VA Food Pantry from Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10 at Trustmark Park. Any fan that donates 2-or-more canned goods at the Trustmark Park Box Office between 10 am-3 pm will receive a $3 Field Level ticket for the September 11th game against the Montgomery Biscuits.

The Mississippi Braves will host their final homestand, September 7-12, against the Montgomery Biscuits at Trustmark Park. The homestand will feature the last Thirsty Thursday of 2021, Drew Waters MVP Statue Giveaway, Kid’s Backpack Giveaway presented by the Mississippi Department of Health, First Responders, and Military Appreciation Night on September 11, and Post-Game Fireworks presented by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and Commissioner Sean Tindell.
