Online Auction To Benefit Tropical Storm Ida Relief

 

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, will host an online fundraiser through MiLB Auctions to benefit those affected by Tropical Storm Ida in Central New Jersey. THE AUCTION CAN BE FOUND HERE! and will run through 10:00 pm on Sunday, September 26th.

Net proceeds from the auction will benefit the Somerset Patriots Children’s Educational and Sportsmanship Foundation, which will then donate to multiple Somerset County based non-profits that are working to help residents and businesses were hit hardest by the flooding caused by the remnants of the hurricane.

The Patriots collected donations of memorabilia, experiences, and items from sports clubs, team partners, and organizations looking to help in the efforts. Highlights of the auction include a Derek Jeter autographed bat inscribed “HOF 2020,” a game-used base from the 2021 MLB All-Star Game, and four tickets to Hamilton on Broadway with a pre-show dinner at Bond 45.

In addition to autographed items from Patriots, top Yankees prospects, and players from Northeast League teams, the auction will include items signed by Saquon Barkley (New York Giants), Julius Randle (New York Knicks), Martin Brodeur (New Jersey Devils), Greg Schiano (Rutgers Football), as well as baseball greats Yogi Berra, Don Mattingly, and Joe Torre.

Experiences also include a foursome at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, tickets to three Rutgers Football games, and a shotgun or rifle lesson at Hudson Farm.

“We’d like to thank everyone that took the time to help our fundraising efforts for the community,” said Patriots President/General Manager Patrick McVerry. “We got some really nice items donated from a lot of organizations that understood that time was of the essence to help those struggling to get their lives back together in our area. We are hoping that people will be generous and bid on these great items to allow us to make a difference for those in need.”

More items may be added to the auction in the coming days as more donations are still coming in to the team.

Baysox Host Military Appreciation Event Sept. 18

 

Bowie, Md: The Bowie Baysox will salute those who have served or are currently serving in our nation’s armed forces during Military Appreciation Night, presented by Valor Home, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, when the Baysox host the Altoona Curve, Double-A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:35 pm.

The event takes place during the Baysox final weekend of the 2021 regular season and will feature a host of themed activities, events, fundraisers and tributes to military personnel to show support and gratitude for all active and retired service personnel.

During the game, Baysox players and coaches will wear specially designed jerseys for the event that will be auctioned during the game. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the Travis Manion Foundation. Manion was an experienced Iraq war veteran who paid the ultimate sacrifice in 2007 while leading a counterattack against enemy forces. Join the OKC Dodgers for Military Celebration Night Friday

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Dodgers will honor the service and dedication of local military members and their families Friday during Military Celebration Night when the Dodgers play the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Dodgers players and coaches will take the field wearing special commemorative green, camouflage and gold jerseys as well as camouflage hats. Their game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off via the DASH Auction app, which is available for free via the App Store and Google Play Store. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation.

Special festivities throughout the game will culminate with postgame fireworks presented by SpringHill Suites.

“We are proud to honor the sacrifices and commitments made by our local service members and their families and show how appreciative the Oklahoma City community is for their service,” OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. “We look forward to celebrating them with this special evening Friday.”

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Tortugas open their final homestand of the 2021 regular season on Tuesday, August 31, against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, the Single-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Among the highlights are a Bob Ross Night 4.0 extravaganza on Saturday, a Vaccination Drive on Wednesday, and the final Postgame Fireworks show of the campaign on Friday.

The Tortugas open up the set on Tuesday, August 31, with a Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Radiology Associates Imaging. Daytona players and coaches will don special pink-tinted uniforms to mark the occasion, as the organization raises money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Silver Sluggers Night — the best club in baseball for fans 60-and-over — presented by Conviva Cares Solutions will also be a part of the festivities. Woodpeckers Alzheimer’s Jersey Auction Raises $8,051.41 For Charity

 

On Saturday, August 7th, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers might have looked unrecognizable, even to the most adoring fans. The Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros traded its signature red, gray and black colors for purple to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. The event, Alzheimer’s Awareness Night, raised $8,051.41 through both an in-person and online auction of the game-worn purple jerseys seen on-field that evening. Proceeds from the jersey auction directly benefitted the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina. The game’s festivities were presented by long-time partner McKee Homes and drew over 4,000 fans to Segra Stadium.

The Woodpeckers, sporting custom purple jerseys with the Alzheimer’s Association logo, beat the Fredericksburg Nationals 6-4. The first 1,200 fans through the gates also received a purple hat. Historically, the color purple has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease because of the combination of the calm stability of blue and the passionate energy of red.

“The fight to end Alzheimer’s has enlisted so many in our local communities,’ says Lisa Roberts, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association – Eastern North Carolina Chapter. “Here in Fayetteville, longtime partners like McKee Homes and growing relationships like ours with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers are shining examples of those in the fight. OKC Dodgers to “Pack the Park Pink” with MidFirst Bank Friday

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City Dodgers players and coaches will wear special pink jerseys and hats that will be auctioned off to benefit Susan G. Komen Oklahoma as the Dodgers and MidFirst Bank team up to “Pack the Park Pink” Friday night.

The Dodgers will take the field at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark at 7:05 p.m. Friday against the Las Vegas Aviators and fans can bid on their game-worn pink jerseys and hats via the DASH Auction app, which is available for free via the App Store and Google Play Store.

Unique events to promote breast cancer awareness will be held throughout the evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and “Pack the Park Pink” will culminate with a pink fireworks show following the game, presented by MidFirst Bank.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause and representatives from Susan G. Komen Oklahoma will be on the concourse throughout the night to provide information about the organization. The mission of Susan G. Komen Oklahoma is “to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.”

Oklahoma City-area breast cancer survivors will take the field pregame during the announcement of the starting lineup, sing the national anthem and deliver a ceremonial first pitch. A unique and fun photo opportunity featuring a balloon arch, backdrop and light-up “OKC” marquee letters will be on display on the concourse for fans to use throughout the game. A breast cancer awareness quiz in Friday night’s digital PlayBall! game program can be completed and redeemed for an exclusive OKC Dodgers color-changing cup.

Springfield Cardinals specialty ‘City Jersey’ announced for August 20-21 at Hammons Field

 

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Springfield Cardinals are excited to announce the team’s first City Jersey, featuring the Springfield Identity Project/Springfield Flag Movement flag design. These brand new specialty uniforms will be worn by the Cardinals at Hammons Field on Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21, and will bring the Cardinals closer to the city we love than ever before.

While the specialty jersey and jersey auction have been scheduled for several months, it happens to coincide with the City of Springfield gathering public input on a potential new flag. Citizens can visit https://flag.questionpro.com/ to comment and/or submit flag designs through August 18.

Combining the unmistakable Cardinals identity on the chest and sleeves with the design of the proposed new flag itself, the white stripe on the uniform represents both the Ozark Plateau on which Springfield rests as well as the world-famous Route 66, which was born here in Springfield. The three stars represented Innovative Spirit, Connection with Nature and Ozarks Culture. The “Compass Crown” combines two core elements of our city’s identity, with the compass representing our role as a crossroads to the nation and the crown paying homage to our over century-old moniker as the “Queen City of the Ozarks.” On either side of the crown and perched on the white stripe are a pair of inward facing Cardinals. The jersey’s left sleeve features a single Bird-on-the-Bat with the Springfield script. The right sleeve features the interlocking “SGF,” first introduced in 2019 on a limited-release off-field cap. This will be the debut of the interlocking “SGF” logo on a uniform.

The jerseys will be auctioned off on the LiveSource App and Livesourceapp.com beginning when gates open on Friday, August 20 and ending at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21. Proceeds will benefit the Sertoma Club of Springfield—a non-profit organization chartered in 1941 whose primary focus is to raise money for children charities in our local area.

M-Braves to host Autism Awareness Day on Sunday at Trustmark Park

 

PEARL, MS – The Mississippi Braves have partnered with William Carey University to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against Autism this Sunday, July 22, when the M-Braves host the Biloxi Shuckers at 2:05 pm.

Mississippi Braves players and coaches will wear special Autism Awareness jerseys, featuring the Braves logo across the chest with Autism Awareness puzzle pieces. A silent auction will be held at Trustmark Park beginning when gates open at 1:00 pm for fans to bid on each player and coach’s jersey. The current M-Braves roster features 11 of the Atlanta Braves top 30 prospects, including 2019 first-round selections Shea Langeliers and Braden Shewmake. Immediately following the game, players will autograph their jerseys for the auction winners. In addition, the jerseys will be signed by the player that wears them. The silent auction will end after the last out of the 6th inning.

Proceeds to the jersey auction will benefit TEAAM, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Mississippians with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, or Specific Learning Disabilities by cultivating and enhancing family and community supports.

Sounds Announce Online Auction of Camouflage Military Jerseys

 

The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club announced today an online auction of their game-used Military Appreciation Jerseys to benefit the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center at Middle Tennessee State University. The auction begins today and runs until Friday, Aug. 13 at 6:00 p.m.

The Sounds wore the camouflage military jerseys during the 2019 season and twice so far in 2021 – Saturday, May 15 and on Saturday, July 3. The club will wear them for a final time as part of Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, Aug. 8.

Heroes Day at the Baysox will feature a day of giving back as the team has partnered with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department to feature a charity softball game following the Baysox game against Hartford. The softball game will pit the Anne Arundel County Fire Department against the Mid-Atlantic Fire Department in a competitive on-field battle for softball supremacy. This is the second year that this event has taken place following a Baysox game, the first time was in 2019. All fans attending the Baysox game on Sunday, July 25 are invited to stay and enjoy the softball game.

All fans are also encouraged to come dressed in their favorite hero costume or animated hero character apparel. There will also be some great costumed characters in attendance for fans to meet and take photos with including a Panther and American Captain.

Baysox players and team members will also be wearing specially designed jerseys for this game that will be auctioned with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Children’s Cancer Foundation of Columbia.

Smokies Stadium to Host Officer Robert Frederick Charity Softball Tournament 

 

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Smokies Stadium will host the Officer Robert Frederick charity softball tournament on July 20, 2021 at 6:00pm in conjunction with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Frederick, an officer with the Gatlinburg Police Department, was injured over Memorial Day weekend when his family’s home was destroyed by a fire and took the life of his daughter, a recent Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Graduate, Shauna, and his father-in-law, Edmond Davis. The money raised during the event will go back to help cover costs the family has endured.

The tournament will begin at 6:00pm with gates opening at 5:00pm. This is a free event open to the public. During the tournament, $10 raffle tickets will be sold for items from various sponsors of the event. Smokies concessions and GoTeez Locker Room will be open, donating a portion of sales back to the Frederick Family.

There are currently five teams made up of local law enforcement, fire, EMS agencies, and 911 emergency dispatchers. Each game will be 50 minutes long, ending with a championship game.

For those that can not attend the event in-person, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union has a benefit account set up with Officer Frederick and his family. Donations can be made online or inside any local Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union branch.

Drillers Help to Renovate Historic Lacy Park 

 

The Tulsa Rumblers, a sandlot baseball club, and the Tulsa Drillers teamed up to give the Lacy Park ballpark a much-needed makeover.

The field is more than just your average neighborhood sandlot. In the 1950s, it was home to Tulsa’s Negro League semi-pro team, the T-Town Clowns. The Tulsa Rumblers started playing pickup ball on Sunday afternoons at Lacy in 2019, but the field was in desperate need of repairs

When public funding to fix the ballpark wasn’t available, a grassroots community project took shape with help from the Tulsa Drillers staff, the Rumblers, and other local sandlot clubs.

“It’s inspiring to see a group of hard-working, passionate volunteers come together to improve this piece of Tulsa’s history,” said Anna America, Chief of Culture and Parks and Recreation said. “This project alone will save Tulsa Parks tens of thousands of dollars in renovation costs.”

Lowe’s donated $8000 in building supplies for the project. Drillers staff members, the Rumblers and other local sandlot players are providing the labor.

The Drillers also auctioned off their “T-town Clowns” replica jerseys worn during the Juneteenth game, raising more than $3500 for the project.

“All of us on the Drillers staff are excited to be able to help with the renovation work at Lacy Park,” said Drillers President Mike Melega. “Lacy Park has played an important role in the history of baseball in Tulsa. With the work now being done to the facility, it should continue to be a great place for the community to come together and enjoy the great game of baseball while also helping younger folks understand its wonderful history.”

Volunteers will spend several days renovating the broken stadium lights, refurbishing the dilapidated bathrooms and fieldhouse, and fixing the bleachers.

Volunteers and community members will celebrate the ballpark’s new look Sunday, July 11 at 5 p.m., with a sandlot game against Drillers staff members. The public is welcome to attend and even play in the game.

Tortugas to help raise funds for Officer Raynor’s family

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – As a part of the Daytona Tortugas continued effort to be a driving force for good in and around Volusia County, the team has announced on Wednesday that it will spend the last five games of their Independence Day homestand against the Lakeland Flying Tigers raising funds for the family of Daytona Beach police officer Jason Raynor after he was seriously wounded in the line of duty last week.

On Wednesday, June 30, and Thursday, July 1, all proceeds from the Tortugas’ nightly 50/50 raffle will go to support the injured officer’s family. Additionally, more funds will be raised over the weekend, Friday, July 2, through Sunday, July 4, the franchise will host a silent auction along the concourse behind home plate.

Fans will also be able to donate to the cause through the Daytona Tortugas’ website. When purchasing tickets online at www.daytonatortugas.com, patrons will be given an option to donate at their discretion to help support the cause.

The six-game homestand continues on Wednesday. As a part of the effort for Officer Raynor’s family, fans are encouraged the visit the 50/50 raffle booth located in the concourse area directly behind home plate. It will also be a Wishful Wednesday at The Jack, presented by VyStar Credit Union. Additionally, starting at just $14, patrons will be able to enjoy all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and popcorn thanks to a Belly Buster Wednesday presented by Marco’s Pizza. Coming off the best start of his young career, RHP Case Williams (0-4, 7.39) — Cincinnati’s No. 21 prospect per MLB Pipeline — is expected to take the hill for Daytona. RHP Nick Davila (2-1, 0.95) anticipates making the first start of his pro career for Lakeland.
