Panda Patriot Power, Cutters Team Up With BairFind to Find Missing Kids

July 16, 2017

The BairFind Foundation is proud to announce a continuation of their partnership for the 2017 baseball season with The Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York-Penn League, this year joined by Panda Patriot Power in the ongoing search for missing children. Panda Patriot Power has sponsored this year’s BairFind sign featuring area missing children that the Cutters place on the stadium concourse for all the fans to see.

The BairFind Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to find missing children. BairFind produces high definition, colorful and attractive signs for sports stadiums, arenas and other venues that feature photos of each city’s missing children, reaching millions of people annually across the United States and greatly increasing the chances that featured children will be safely located. BairFind was founded in 2010 by former Williamsport pitcher Dennis Bair, and has been supported since its inception by Doug Estes, Gabe Sinicropi and the front office of the Williamsport Crosscutters.

By partnering with the Williamsport Crosscutters, Panda Patriot Power and Minor League Baseball, we are providing a valuable and necessary service to Pennsylvania’s kids and their families at no cost to them. This summer, Williamsport fans will be instrumental in the search, thanks in large part to the generosity and sponsorship of Panda Patriot Power,” said BairFind Founder Dennis Bair.

Cutters Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Gabe Sinicropi stated, “As soon as Dennis contacted us in 2010, we knew we needed to help out. How could you not? From putting missing children on our team photos to posting signage in the ballpark, we have seen BairFind grow and the number of teams participating increase exponentially. When they were looking for sponsorships to help further their mission, Panda Patriot was the first company we thought of. Their commitment to Cutters charity initiatives is second to none.”

Dash to host “Fill the Stands with Cans” on July 21

July 14, 2017

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 14, 2017) – The Winston-Salem Dash are proud to announce, in conjunction with the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association (PTAA) and WXII, the return of “Fill the Stands with Cans” for an eighth consecutive season at BB&T Ballpark. On Friday, July 21, before the Dash’s 7 p.m. game against the Salem Red Sox, PTAA volunteers will be positioned outside the gates of BB&T Ballpark collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.

Last year, the Dash were among several organizations to help the PTAA provide a total of 17,832 meals to people in need in the northwest North Carolina area.

“Every summer Second Harvest’s resources are stretched thin because so many children who rely on free and subsidized meals at school are out of school for the summer,” said Jon Lowder, Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association. “That means that Second Harvest and its partner agencies have to supply more food to needy families, and we are so fortunate to be able to partner with three organizations that are dedicated to addressing the community’s needs. This year, we hope to raise 20,000 meals, and we’d love to reach 25,000.”

As a thank you from the Dash and the PTAA for helping support Second Harvest Food Bank of NWNC, any fan who brings a non-perishable food item or cash donation to Friday’s game will receive a ticket voucher that can be redeemed for any Dash home game in August. To redeem your ticket, simply bring your voucher to the Baker Roofing Box Office, which is open leading up to all home games and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday on non-gamedays.

“We are incredibly excited about hosting ‘Fill the Stands with Cans’ again this year,” said Dash President Geoff Lassiter. “The PTAA does a fantastic job of organizing this event every season, and their goals intertwine with our organization’s community initiatives, so it’s truly a perfect match.”

Gates will open at 6 p.m. for Friday’s 7 p.m. game with the Red Sox, with tickets still available for purchase for as low as $8 by calling the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visiting wsdash.com. Be sure to stick around after the game for a spectacular postgame fireworks show and kids run the bases, powered by New Balance Winston-Salem. Friday is also the first Star Wars Night in BB&T Ballpark history.

Legends Team Up with Tempur Sealy and Sleep Outfitters for Bed Donation Event and Pajama Party

July 14, 2017

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) – The Lexington Legends have partnered with Tempur Sealy and Sleep Outfitters for ‘Pajama Party Night’ on the July 28 home game versus the Kannapolis Intimidators at 7:05pm, the culmination of a summer long partnership between the three Lexington companies.

The partnership started in April with the donation of 30 Tempur-Pedic Twin XL mattress and bed foundations for the Lexington Legends players, and blossomed into a community outreach effort between the three companies which grew to include the Kansas City Royals and North Broadway Auto. Director of Minor League Operations for the Kansas City Royals, Ronnie Richardson, expresses how the impact of such a substantial donation is to a Minor League player who is just beginning their career in baseball. “The Kansas City Royals and Lexington Legends are really appreciative of the generous donation by Tempur Sealy. The opportunity to provide mattresses for our players here in Lexington really helps us achieve our goal of creating the best possible environment for the players both on and off the field.”

In addition to providing mattresses to Legends players, Tempur Sealy wanted to truly make their donation impactful throughout the Lexington community, which is where the Lexington Legends were able to make the connection and to grow this into a fun community night at the ballpark. One hundred students from Russell Cave Elementary and Winburn Middle School, who have been selected through the Family Resource Coordinators at each school, will be receiving a Tempur-Pedic Twin mattress and bed foundation courtesy of Tempur Sealy and Sleep Outfitters. Not only will these students be taking home new mattresses, they also will be receiving new bedding courtesy of the Kansas City Royals and/or North Broadway Auto.

“We are just as excited to be able to donate Kansas City Royals bedding as Tempur Sealy donates mattresses to local children in the Lexington community. We want to thank Tempur Sealy and the Lexington Legends for all of the efforts” continues Richardson of the Kansas City Royals. This is a great outreach program and will have a positive impact on the lives of everyone involved.” The bed donation pick-up event takes place Saturday, July 29 at 9:00am. For additional information on location, or if media are interested in attending the event, contact Sarah Bosso, Legends Vice President of Business Development.

The Lexington Legends, Tempur Sealy and Sleep Outfitters are rolling out the red carpet for the 100 students at Pajama Party Night, held at Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Friday, July 28. The students and their families will receive transportation to and from the game by Gold Shield charter buses, outfitted in Legends gear, provided game tickets, participate in on-field contests throughout the game and will be the fireworks Grand Marshalls – who will count down the fireworks while sitting atop Tempur-Pedic beds set-up behind homeplate. They will have a meet and greet session with Legends players on the field where they can get pictures and autographs. “We are thrilled to be able to be a part of this remarkable event” expresses Sarah Bosso, Legends Vice President of Business Development. “Mattresses, bed foundations and bedding are sometimes an overlooked need and we are so thankful for amazing community partners like Tempur Sealy, Sleep Outfitters, North Broadway Auto and our parent club the Kansas City Royals for being able to help coordinate such an impactful event for the Northside of Lexington.”

The Legends welcome all fans attending the Friday, July 28 game to bring new, unopened twin sheet sets as a donation to the game for the opportunity to watch the fireworks post-game on the outfield. Fans are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on and dress in pajama-like attire to accompany the “Pajama Party” theme of the night.

“Sleep Outfitters is a company that has deep roots in Lexington and we are committed to doing our part to make our hometown an even better place to live” expresses Kim Knopf, Founder and CEO of Sleep Outfitters. “It’s exciting to get to team up with Lexington-based Tempur Sealy and the Lexington Legends to provide the gift of a great night’s sleep to some deserving kids. It’s going to be a pajama party to remember for all of us.”

For more information, contact Sarah Bosso at sbosso@lexingtonlegends.com or 859-422-7855. RiverDogs “Knock ‘Em Out of the Park” With Second Annual Peanut-Free Night at The Joe

July 12, 2017

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Back by popular demand, the Charleston RiverDogs will once again take a big cut and “knock ’em out of the park” as they hold a Peanut-Free Night presented by Charleston Allergy and Asthma at The Joe on Wednesday, July 19 at 7:05 pm.

For one night only, no peanuts will be on sale at the park with special sections for those with peanuts allergies available. The designated areas will be completely peanut-free with a thorough cleansing of the sections prior to the game.

“We received a lot of positive feedback after hosting this night a season ago, and we’re happy to once again provide a safe and relaxing night out at The Joe for baseball fans with peanut allergies along with their friends and family,” said RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols.

Lower reserved tickets to the peanut-free zone are $10 each. For $17, fans receive a ticket to the peanut-free seating along with a meal voucher. For fans that can’t miss out on the favorite ballpark snack, packing peanuts and circus peanuts will be available for sale as the RiverDogs take on the Hagerstown Suns.

“Peanut allergies are a growing problem with a rising frequency in the United States and worldwide,” said Dr. Jeffrey J. Dietrich of Charleston Allergy & Asthma. “Having a peanut allergy can make it difficult for patients and their families to participate safely in everyday activities we take for granted such as taking a plane ride or going to a baseball game due to concerns for accidental exposure to peanuts. Our 2nd Annual Peanut Free Night with the RiverDogs is a great opportunity for peanut allergic patients and their families to safely enjoy a game and to help to raise awareness for food allergies.”

In the United States, approximately three million people report allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. Studies show the number of children living with peanut allergy appears to have tripled between 1997 and 2008.

Along with the peanut-free festivities at the park, the first 1,000 fans at the gate will receive a pair of RiverDogs sunglasses as part of “Wardrobe Wednesdays” presented by WEZL as the RiverDogs open up a seven-game homestand.

For more than 30 years Charleston Allergy & Asthma has used the most up-to-date and advanced treatments and our convenient three locations. We’ve built trusting, long-lasting relationships with our patients. Today, our six board certified allergists continue to strengthen our services and relationships – all in an effort to ensure our patients are able to breathe better, feel better and live better.

RiverDogs tickets, including options for the all-new Riley Park Club, are now available and can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com. Those that can’t make it to the park can follow every pitch of the RiverDogs season on WTMA 1250 AM in the tri-county area or by streaming online at riverdogs.com and the TuneIn Radio App by searching “RiverDogs.”

Fourth of July Jersey Auction to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana

June 28, 2017

SOUTH BEND, IN – The South Bend Cubs are raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana through their 4th of July jersey auction this weekend.

The jerseys, worn by the South Bend Cubs players and coaches, feature the American flag on the front and back with Cubs written in block letters with red trim across the chest, white numbers with red trim on the back and primary South Bend Cubs logo on the left sleeve.

“After the success of last season, we are proud to once again partner with Ronald McDonald House in Michiana over the 4th of July weekend,” said South Bend Cubs Team President Joe Hart. “The Ronald McDonald House relies on support from our community to operate and we are proud to continue supporting this great facility and the people who help families through the most difficult of times.”

Last season, the South Bend Cubs raised over $3,000 through the jersey auction.

“We are honored to partner with the South Bend Cubs,” said Lauren Smyth, director of development and communications for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana. “The money we raise for the Ronald McDonald House during these games directly impacts the families in our community and the surrounding area who stay in the House when their children are hospitalized – all at no cost to them. We are very grateful for the South Bend Cubs’ generosity.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana serves the families of critically ill and injured children at Beacon Children’s Hospital in South Bend. No family is ever prepared for the serious illness of their child, so while the hospital team takes care of the children, the Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to relax or sleep, eat a hot meal or grab a quick shower at no cost to them.

In February of 2017, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana opened their brand-new House inside the Skyway building connected to Memorial Hospital. With more than 15,000 sq. ft. of space, the new House offers 20 overnight bedroom suites, multiple laundry facilities, living rooms, dining rooms, a large open kitchen, pantry, community room and children’s play room.

The jersey auction will begin on Sunday, July 2 and run through the end of the 7th inning on Tuesday, July 4. A silent auction table will be set up near Gate A at Four Winds Field with minimum bids beginning at $120.00. Auction winners will be able to collect their jersey after the game on July 4 or pick them up later at the South Bend Cubs Main Office. Winning bidders not in attendance of the game will be notified July 5.

RailRiders Announce HOPE Week Activities

June 16, 2017

Moosic, Pa. – What began as an ode to the parent club and the community has turned into an annual tradition in NEPA. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) are proud to announce that beginning on Monday, June 19, the RailRiders will join the New York Yankees in support of HOPE (Helping Others Persevere and Excel) Week 2017, a unique week-long communal program that brings to light extraordinary stories intended to inspire individuals into action in their own communities.

Initiated in 2009 and now in its eighth campaign in NEPA, HOPE Week is rooted in the fundamental belief that acts of goodwill provide hope and encouragement to more than just the recipient of the gesture. Each day from Monday, June 19, through Sunday, June 25, members of the RailRiders front office staff or club will reach out personally to connect with an organization, cause or individual. 2017 marks the sixth straight year that each of the Yankees’ six U.S.-based affiliates will participate in the program, making the initiative one that the entire organization proudly stands behind.

“Being a part of the Yankees family is special. HOPE Week is one of the unbelievable programs that solidifies the ‘Yankee way’ and how important it is to impact your community,” said RailRiders Team Pesident/COO Josh Olerud.

On Monday, June 19, will hold a special meet and greet between SWB players and military veterans. Local veterans from St. Francis Commons Veterans Program in Scranton will receive tickets to the game and will have a special meet and greet with players at the field before the game. These veteran groups in attendance will receive special recognition during the Hometown Heroes in-game announcement.

From 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, players, coaches and front office staff will help box up meals for the Commission on Economic Opportunity’s “Senior Box Program” at the Weinberg Northeast Regional Foodbank in Pittston, PA. The CEO’s “Senior Box Program” provides meals to over 2,000 senior citizens in the area every month.

Wednesday, June 21, will feature a visit to the Janet Weis Children’s Unit at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Players, coaches, front office staff, and CHAMP will visit the patients in the Children’s Unit of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The visit will include reading to and visiting with the kids, coloring CHAMP and other fun pages and each child will get a special gift to keep. During the game, autographed memorabilia will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be given to the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton towards their efforts to support families of children who are in the hospitals in the local Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.

RailRiders players will make a special visit on Thursday, June 22, to see a local Nanticoke area high school senior varsity baseball player, Aaron Kreitzer, who is in the hospital battling leukemia. Kreitzer will also be presented with his own custom RailRiders jersey. Since his diagnosis, Kreitzer’s high school baseball team, fellow students, and the whole Greater Nanticoke area community have rallied around him and his family throwing charity softball tournaments and fundraising benefits.

SWB will kick-off their annual RailRiders Vs. Cancer fundraiser on Friday, June 23. Fans will be informed of the fundraiser, the date of the head shaving will be announced, and past year’s fundraising campaign success will be highlighted. The RailRiders will also get to choose a local pediatric cancer program to receive half of the funds raised in this season’s campaign. Fans at the ballpark will be given the team fundraising website information.

From 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, players, coaches and staff will volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. They will put the finishing touches on a home in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., for a low-income family to purchase in July. The Wyoming Valley Habitat for Humanity restored the home for a single mother and her five-year-old daughter.

The team will wrap up their HOPE Week on Sunday, June 25, by participating in Minor League Baseball’s Joe Torre “Safe at Home” Domestic Violence Awareness Initiative. MiLB Charities has teamed up with the Joe Torre “Safe at Home” Foundation to raise awareness for domestic violence and educate fans about the resources available to help those in need. The first 500 fans at the game will receive Topps Card Sets featuring MLB veterans and top prospects and a signed Joe Torre Baseball will be raffled or auctioned off for the charity of our choosing. A representative from the Joe Torre Foundation will also be in attendance.

Our Community Organization of the Game will be the Mary Kay Foundation whose mission is to serve and support women with cancer and women and children affected by domestic violence. The Mary Kay Foundation will be selling their t-shirts during the game to raise money for their local programs. There will also be a “supply” drive (Items such as hygiene products, diapers, baby food and formula, school supplies, bus tickets and a no-longer used cell phone can make an important difference).

HOPE Week is just a part of the RailRiders’ community outreach this season, and the RailRiders look forward to continuing their involvement both during and after HOPE Week. Any inquiries regarding the weeklong festivities should be directed to RailRiders director of community relations Jordan Maydole by calling 570-969-2255 (ext. 3140) or by e-mailing jmaydole@swbrailriders.com.

The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders hit the road for four games in three days against the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) beginning Friday, June 16. First pitch at Coca-Cola Field is set for 7:05 p.m. The boys of SWB return home on Monday, June 19, against the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals).
