Get Your Pink On!

Friday, August 9 Game to Include a Cancer Survivor Walk, Pink Jersey Auction, Pink Bra Contest, Happy Hour Specials, and a Balloon Pop With Great Prizes

Bradenton, Fla. – The Bradenton Marauders will host the fourth annual Get Your Pink On! breast cancer awareness night at McKechnie Field on Friday, August 9. Get Your Pink On! is presented by Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute with media partner ABC 7. The Marauders face the St. Lucie Mets at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

The entire night will be dedicated to raising money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Before the game, cancer survivors will have the opportunity to be recognized on field. A Survivors Walk around the warning track will be held at 6:00 p.m.

The Marauders will wear pink jerseys which will be available for auction during the game. Winning bidders will be invited to receive the jersey directly from the player wearing it after the game. Players will autograph the jersey and pose for pictures with winning bidders. In addition to the jerseys, autographed pink bats will also be up for bid.

Fans can participate in a “pay to pop” balloon pop with great prizes available, with all prizes valued at a minimum of $10 each. Fans are encouraged to come dressed in pink and to bring their uniquely decorated pink bra to the ballpark. Prizes for the best-decorated pink bra will be awarded via fan vote during the game. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Other opportunities to help the Marauders raise funds for the American Cancer Society will be available throughout the game.

Every Friday home game is a Happy Hour Friday presented by Pier 22 Restaurant. From 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., 500 free hot dogs will be given away at the outfield concessions stand and $1 sodas and $1 domestic draft beers will be sold at the Kona Bar Built by NDC Construction and the Yuengling Plaza Bar thanks to Kayem and Cheney Brothers.

The McKechnie Field ticket office is open on non-game days from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday-Friday and closed on weekend non-game days. On Monday-Saturday game days, the ticket office opens at 1:00 p.m. and closes at the conclusion of the game. On Sunday game days and special games with 10 a.m. start times, the ticket office opens two hours prior to the game.

Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Game Raises $30,000 Locally

BURLINGTON, VT – The Vermont Lake Monsters are pleased to announce that $30,000 has been raised for the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, as part of the June 29th event at Centennial Field. The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, made up of Veterans and Active-Duty Soldiers and Marines who have lost a limb(s) in post 9/11 combat, tour nationally to raise awareness of the sacrifices of these brave soldiers, while giving communities across our great country an opportunity to show their support of our true heroes.

“It was an honor to assist in the creation of the Burlington, VT event.”, says Vermont Lake Monsters Vice President Kyle Bostwick. “The outpouring of support in both preparation and participation of this event, that showcases the sacrifices that these soldiers have made should make us all be proud to be a part of our community.”

Monies for the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team were raised through a two day event that was highlighted by an exhibition softball game featuring former Major League Pitchers Bill “Spaceman” Lee and Len Whitehouse, Burlington Police Chief Michael Schirling, Silver Screen Actor and Vermont resident Luis Guzman, actor, producer, and writer Rusty “The Logger” Dewees, country music star Jamie Lee Thurston, and Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger.

In addition substantial revenues for the event were raised through generous donations by The Pizzagalli Foundation, Jolley Associates, Farrell Distributing, Yankee Medical, Select Design, Lake Champlain Cruises, and REM Development.

A ceremonial check presentation will occur today with WWAST manager David Van Sleet in attendance, July 29th, prior to the Vermont Lake Monsters home game against the Lowell Spinners at Centennial Field at 7:05PM.

Prince William County’s Finest Will Clash with the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department

Woodbridge, VA-The 2nd Annual Guns vs. Hoses Charity Softball Game at Pfitzner Stadium is set for Sunday, August 11th in which Prince William County Police officers will engage in a standoff with the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department with local bragging rights on the line.

For the second consecutive summer, men and women of the PWC Police Department and a selected area fire department will square off to benefit a charity chosen by the respective softball squads.

This year, the Guns vs. Hoses showdown will take place from 4:00pm – 5:15pm before the Potomac Nationals contest vs. the Carolina Mudcats (Cleveland Indians) at 6:05pm on 8/11 at The Pfitz.

Gates to Pfitzner Stadium will open to the public at 4:00pm to watch the softball classic.

“Our hometown heroes do so much in our communities, and without the full recognition they deserve. The Potomac Nationals will celebrate all they have done to serve us with an annual day of fun and softball that honors both the police and fire departments along with all of their families,” said Potomac Nationals Vice President/General Manager, Josh Olerud.

For each ticket to the P-Nats game sold by the PWC Police Department and the Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Department, the Potomac Nationals will donate $4 to the chosen charities for each softball team.

Representatives from the police and fire departments will have emergency vehicles displayed at the ballpark and activities for P-Nats fans to enjoy and participate in prior to the Potomac Nationals game.

All members of the PWC Police Department and the Yorkshire Fire Department will be recognized on the field before the game and in the middle of the 7th inning, a special rendition of God Bless America will honor the men and women who have lost their lives protecting their community.

Princeton Rays Looking for Pop Tabs To Help Others

“Saves” are an important statistic in baseball. The Princeton Rays are hopeful they can encourage all the team’s fans to save all their soda pop pull tabs and bring them to Hunnicutt Field. The Princeton Rays will in turn donate the pop tabs to Ronald McDonald Charities through their Charleston, WV facility.

The collection of pop tabs is an important revenue-raising source for Ronald McDonald House locations world-wide. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent 501c3 organization whose mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.

Once pop tabs are opened on a soft drink can, at first glance they seem to have no further relevant use but the Princeton Rays and the Princeton Senior High School Key Club beg to differ. The P-Rays are honored to join the local high school’s Key Club chapter in their quest to accumulate pop tabs for donation.

“I personally have delivered about 150 pounds of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston on behalf of the Princeton Senior High School Key Club. I’ve been through the whole Charleston facility and see the great work they are doing in comforting families through meals and lodging at a time when they have sick kids in nearby hospitals. We thoroughly support the efforts of the PSHS Key Club to collect these items and encourage our fans to bring all their leftover pop tabs here to the stadium and put them into special clear plastic containers we will make available at several locations in the stadium. Collecting these pop tabs is a very simple way that everyone in the P-Rays family can help,” outlined P-Rays’ General Manager Jim Holland. He added that he has encountered many people that have utilized the services of a Ronald McDonald House location sometime during their lives.

The RMHC Pop Tab Program has already generated more than $4 million. The Pop Tab Collection Program was been established to allow individuals and businesses to collect soda pop tabs from aluminum cans and donate them to their local RMHC Chapter or Ronald McDonald’s House. Though it differs from program to program, for the most part, RMHC Chapters use the money received from recycling the tabs to help offset operational expenses or to sponsor or support programs.

So for the balance of this 2013 Appalachian League season, let’s get started and bring those used pop tabs to our collection points at Hunnicutt Field. Legends host Breast Cancer Awareness dinner

‘Cats to host ALS Fundraiser, with special guest Tommy John

TROY, NY – The Tri-City ValleyCats have partnered with Strike Out Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the National ALS Registry and the ALS Association to hold a fundraiser at “The Joe” on Saturday, July 6. Former Yankee great, Tommy John will be in attendance as part of a meet & greet opportunity and ALS Fundraiser Dinner in the ValleyCats Picnic Pavilion. Proceeds from this dinner will be donated to the ALS Association.

This event is part of a season-long partnership between Minor League Baseball and the ALS Association to strikeout Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Part of this initiative is to support the men and women serving in our armed forces, as those in the military are twice as likely to develop Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The ValleyCats will pay tribute to our military heroes throughout the July 4th homestand and help raise awareness of Lou Gehrig’s Disease as the National ALS Registry will be on hand with a table for each of these games, including Veterans Night on July 5th. The National ALS Registry is a research project that may help scientists find the cause, treatment and cure for the disease, which is fatal in an average of just two to five years.

Tickets for the fundraiser are just $30 and are limited. Included is a meet & greet with Tommy John from 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., entry into the ALS Fundraiser Dinner from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., a premium box ticket to that night’s game vs. the Lowell Spinners, a ValleyCats cap and a commemorative ALS camo ball.

Brown’s Brewing Company will also be joining the ValleyCats to support this cause as a proud participant in Ales for ALS, a national fundraising project to help discover a treatment for ALS. Fisher Cats Announce Breast Cancer Awareness Game

Proceeds of ticket sales to benefit the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition

The Fisher Cats and Merrimack Street Volvo, in conjunction with WZID, will host Breast Cancer Awareness Night on July 7 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The game will be used to raise money for the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition while honoring those who have been diagnosed with the disease.

“We are proud to team up with Merrimack Street Volvo and WZID to bring awareness to this very treatable disease,” said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. “The staff at the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition does a great job in working to end breast cancer by treating patients and raising awareness among New Hampshire residents.”

To honor victims and survivors of breast cancer, the Fisher Cats team will wear special pink jerseys for that day’s 5:05 p.m. game against the Binghamton Mets, and all fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause, too. Fans may also donate a new or gently used bra to the cause, which will be autographed and displayed at the stadium’s entrance.

Portions of all ticket sales for the game will benefit the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. Fans should enter the code “PINK” when purchasing online or refer to the code when making purchases over the phone or in person at the Fisher Cats Box Office.

“We are pleased to be a part of this night to support the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition,” said Alex Saidel, President of Merrimack Street Volvo. “The hard-working individuals at NHBCC have done a remarkable job easing the pain and confusion for their patients over the last two decades.”

Founded in 1992, the NHBCC is a statewide, grassroots advocacy organization whose mission is to advocate for and provide assistance to New Hampshire residents with breast cancer. Funds will also be generated for the NHBCC through donations made on game day at the Fisher Cats’ giant “bust,” a display created by Prestige Auto Body of Manchester that collects cash and coin donations.   Additional activities are planned, and a full schedule of the day can be found at www.nhfishercats.com.

Silver Hawks to Help Veteran’s Take Flight

Join your Silver Hawks Thursday, June 6 for a special showing of Honor Flight on the 69th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Honor Flight is a documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to provide them a trip to Washington, DC to see the memorial constructed for them in 2004.

The gates will open at 6:00pm and the movie will begin at 7:00pm on the scoreboard. During the event there will be military vehicles onsite and a military flyby featuring WII planes. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased online www.SilverHawks.com , look for the Honor Flight info the home page. Tickets may also be purchased through the Box Office, in person and over the phone 574-235-9988, Monday-Friday 10:00am-5:00pm. Parking will be free for the event and concessions will be open.

Proceeds from the event will aid in sending veterans from the Michiana area to the memorial in Washington, D.C. 2013 Timber Rattlers Golf Outing for the Miracle League of the Fox Valley

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to hold charity golf outing on June 24

GRAND CHUTE, WI – Hit the links with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to benefit The Miracle League of the Fox Valley. The Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers will hold their annual golf outing on Monday, June 24 at Shamrock Heights Golf Course in New London.

A foursome may register for $350. Foursomes have the opportunity to play with a Timber Rattlers player, but that chance is based on a first come, first serve RSVP. Individuals may register for $100.

The outing tees off with registration beginning at 8:00am and a shotgun start at 9:00am. Lunch is included with registration and will be served at the turn. Snacks will be available after the round of golf from 2-4pm. A raffle drawing and awards presentation will conclude the event.

The Miracle League of the Fox Valley, an organized baseball league for children aged 4-19 with physical and/or mental disabilities, was formed in 2008 by Fox Valley parents Lisa and Mark Robbins. The league has an Opening Day Celebration set for Saturday, June 8 from 10am to noon at the John Wollner Fox Cities Miracle Field in Appleton’s Memorial Park. The Miracle League of the Fox Valley starts its fourth season of play on Monday, June 10 at Miracle Field.

Naturals Community Highlights: May 15-20

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The Naturals return for a brief three-game homestand on Saturday, but Strike will be a busy Sasquatch over the next six days, making 11 appearances in five Northwest Arkansas communities as well as welcoming the Naturals back to town.

Wednesday, May 15: Strike will visit patients at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, lifting their spirits and generating smiles. After his visit to Circle of Life, Strike will have lunch with a special group of youngsters who were selected as part of the Terrific Kids program sponsored by the Bentonville Kiwanis club.

Thursday, May 16: Strike will have lunch with Terrific Kids selected by the Bentonville Kiwanis Club.

Friday, May 17: Strike begins his Friday by visiting students at Bright Field Middle School in Bentonville, followed by a trip to Mathias Elementary in Rogers. At both schools, Strike will congratulate students on a successful school year and promote their upcoming fundraising nights at Arvest Ballpark.

Later in the day, Strike will make an appearance with participants in a study conducted by the University of Arkansas Psychology department. Strike will close out the day by supporting runners and walkers in Bella Vista at the Strides for Stroke 5K and 1-mile fun run.

Saturday, May 18: Strike will start his Saturday morning with a visit to the Wildcat Rumble 5k in Bentonville. After passing out awards and celebrating with the winners, Strike will visit the Compassion House in Springdale. Following a brief lunch break, Strike will head over to Pinnacle Hills Mall in Rogers to take part in the rescheduled Touch-A-Truck event, benefitting the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas. Later in the day, Strike will appear the Bentonville Great Strides event for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

In addition to Strike’s visits around Northwest Arkansas, the Naturals will welcome eight groups to Arvest Ballpark this homestand as part of the team’s fundraising program. These groups include Elkins Elementary School, Sugar Creek Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, Huntsville Intermediate School, Mathias Elementary School music department, Lowell Elementary School, Aid for Developing Countries and Western Arkansas Child Development. As of May 14, the Naturals ticket fundraising program has raised $52,543 this season.

Join the Tulsa Drillers for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Night presented by Montereau and Tulsa’s Channel 8 as they partner to Strike Out Alzheimer’s in World Record fashion on Saturday, May 25! Be a part of history as the Drillers attempt to throw out more than 12,000 first pitches before the Drillers game at ONEOK Field.

Fans can take part in this record-breaking occasion by heading to ONEOK Field on Saturday, May 25 between the hours of midnight and 5:00pm. Fans of all ages are invited to participate, but adult supervision is encouraged for children under 18.

The suggested donation per pitch is $1, but a donation is not required to participate. There is no limit on number of pitches a participant can throw. Fans wanting to be a part of the record attempt can enter ONEOK Field through the Arvest Entrance at the corner of Brady St. and Elgin Ave.

Those who cannot attend are invited to pitch virtually. For every dollar donated online, a pitch will be thrown out by a volunteer at the field. Donations can be made by visiting www.StrikeOutALZ.org.

Money raised during Strike Out ALZ and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Night will fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research. For more information, visit www.StrikeOutALZ.org.

To complete the day of baseball activities, the Tulsa Drillers will wear special edition purple jerseys as they take on the Frisco Roughriders at 7 p.m. during the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Night presented by Montereau and KTUL. Spectators are invited to join the Drillers by wearing purple to help raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.

The limited edition purple jerseys will be sold during a silent auction that will take place through the eighth inning outside Black Gold Outfitters. Walk to End Alzheimer’s merchandise, event sign up information and Alzheimer’s educational material will also be available.

Flying Squirrels To Hold First Charity Golf Tournament

RICHMOND, VA – The Richmond Flying Squirrels will partner with Victory Golf Events to hold their first charity golf tournament, the Flying Squirrels Charity Golf Open on Monday, June 17th at the Dominion Club. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Miracle League of Richmond. The tournament will be played with teams of four competing in a scramble format along with a celebrity teammate. Celebrity teammates will include Flying Squirrels players, coaches and staff members as well additional celebrities from the sports and media community in Richmond.

“Hosting a golf tournament is something we have wanted to do since we arrived in Richmond,” said Flying Squirrels’ Vice President & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. “We always have a lot of guys on the team who love to play, and it is a great way to get many of our other friends in the community involved to aid the effort of the outstanding folks at the Miracle League of Richmond. I just hope I don’t hack it up too badly out there for the Dominion Club’s sake.”

ALS Celebrity Waiter Event on May 29th

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The 13th annual ALS Celebrity Waiter Event will take place at TGI Friday’s in Brick on Wednesday, May 29th.

The annual event raises money for the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, the principal charity of the Philadelphia Phillies, and has brought over $120,000 to the organization in the event’s first 12 years.

BlueClaws players will serve as servers and hosts while coaches, including Lakewood manager and former Phillies second baseman Mickey Morandini, will serve as bartender helpers.

“Last year’s event at TGI Friday’s in Brick was a great success,” said BlueClaws General Manager Brandon Marano. “We’re excited to bring the event back to TGI Friday’s and continue what was been a tremendous event for a great cause.”

There will be two dinner seatings: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. Fans can reserve a table by calling TGI Friday’s directly at 732-262-0937.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, including 15% of every dinner bill (excluding alcohol) from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and all tips from dinner bills during the same three hour period.

In addition, there will be a silent auction with a series of great items, from which all proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia. Companies wishing to donate items for the gift auction can do so by contacting TGI Friday’s of Brick at the number above.

BlueClaws Charities, the official non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws, is a 501c3 organization that has donated over $500,000 in the last four years to area non-profit organizations and fundraising events.
