Shorebirds Raise over $4,900 for Operation We Care through 9/11 Patriotic Jersey Auction

 

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the Delmarva Shorebirds wore special patriotic jerseys to honor the 20th anniversary of all those lost through the terrible attacks of September 11, 2001. Through the patriotic jersey auction, the Shorebirds were able to raise $4,916.52 for Operation We Care to support the men and women who serve in the military and as first responders. In addition, Operation We Care will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Department of MD VFW Family Assistance Program.

“Operation We Care is a great initiative that the Shorebirds are proud to support each and every year,” explained Shorebirds General Manager Chris Bitters. “Our men and women in our military, hospitals, and first responders have been battling on the front lines throughout the pandemic and we are thrilled to support them by donating to Operation We Care to aid in their efforts.”

The special patriotic jerseys honored all our military branches with all the service marks located on the back of each jersey. On the front of the jersey underneath the Shorebirds script, was the United States official seal with stars and stripes located just below each player’s jersey number. On the right sleeve of each jersey, the Shorebirds placed a Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States badge in support of all veterans and those who have served our country. The jersey auction was held online from September 11 to September 22 with fans having the opportunity to bid on these special, game-worn autographed jerseys.

On September 11, 2021, the Shorebirds hosted a special patriotic night to honor the lives lost during the September 11th attacks presented by Pohanka of Salisbury. The night featured the players wearing these patriotic jerseys, special in-game tributes, and the night capped with the final fireworks show of the year presented by Pohanka of Salisbury.

M-Braves, MDPS hosting First Responder & Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, 9/11

 

PEARL, MS – On Saturday, September 11, the Mississippi Braves, in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, and commissioner Sean Tindell, will remember and honor the bravery of American citizens and first responders on the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with special pregame events, videos, and patriotic post-game fireworks.

All first responders, active-duty and retired military, and Mississippi Department of Public Safety employees will receive two complimentary tickets to the 6:05 pm game against the Montgomery Biscuits. The tickets will be available at the Trustmark Park box office by simply presenting your work ID or law enforcement badge.

“This will be the first time in team history the M-Braves have had a home game at Trustmark Park on September 11,” added Pete Laven, vice president, and general manager of the Mississippi Braves. “As an organization, we want to pay our respects to all of those that lost their lives on that day 20 years ago and honor them and our local first responders through our national pastime.”

First Responders & Military Appreciation Night on September 11

 

MOOSIC, PA (September 6, 2021) – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will host First Responders & Military Appreciation Night on September 11 when the RailRiders take on the Rochester Red Wings at PNC Field. Baysox Host Military Appreciation Event Sept. 18

 

Bowie, Md: The Bowie Baysox will salute those who have served or are currently serving in our nation’s armed forces during Military Appreciation Night, presented by Valor Home, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, when the Baysox host the Altoona Curve, Double-A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:35 pm.

The event takes place during the Baysox final weekend of the 2021 regular season and will feature a host of themed activities, events, fundraisers and tributes to military personnel to show support and gratitude for all active and retired service personnel.

Join the OKC Dodgers for Military Celebration Night Friday

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Dodgers will honor the service and dedication of local military members and their families Friday during Military Celebration Night when the Dodgers play the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Dodgers players and coaches will take the field wearing special commemorative green, camouflage and gold jerseys as well as camouflage hats. Their game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off via the DASH Auction app, which is available for free via the App Store and Google Play Store. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation.

Special festivities throughout the game will culminate with postgame fireworks presented by SpringHill Suites.

“We are proud to honor the sacrifices and commitments made by our local service members and their families and show how appreciative the Oklahoma City community is for their service,” OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. “We look forward to celebrating them with this special evening Friday.”

Area service members are scheduled to participate in several pregame events, including the presentation of colors with a large flag in the outfield, the singing of the national anthem and a ceremonial first pitch. The VFW, American Legion, Army and Marines will have information about their organizations available throughout the concourse.

The OKC Dodgers continue their homestand and open a six-game series tonight against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. before Friday’s Military Celebration Night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Saturday’s 7:05 p.m. game is the third and final OKC 89ers Night of the season, presented by Courtyard Marriott. The Dodgers will take the field as the Oklahoma City 89ers in a nod to the franchise’s history.

Kids can run the bases following Sunday’s 2:05 p.m. game and Monday’s game will have a special 12:05 p.m. first pitch on Labor Day. The Winston-Salem Dash are teaming up with Salem One for a Hometown Heroes USA event at Truist Stadium on Saturday, September 11 to honor all service members and first responders (active and retired). The Dash will take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods, an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, at 6:00 p.m.

Penultimate Homestand Includes Military Appreciation and Opera Night

 

The Charleston RiverDogs continue to own the best record in the Low-A East and return to The Joe for their penultimate homestand of 2021 to battle the Columbia Fireflies next week. The series, which runs from August 17-22, will consist of seven games in six days. The RiverDogs will take a big step toward clinching a berth in the postseason with a successful series on the field.

The homestand includes plenty of reasons for fans to be excited. On Wednesday, the RiverDogs meet the Fireflies in a doubleheader on Pride Night where the team will wear Charleston Rainbows uniforms in the nightcap. Friday features our third Military Appreciation Night of the season, as well as Opera Night. Gwinnett Stripers Award $2,500 July Grant to Gwinnett Coalition

 

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Gwinnett Stripers, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves Foundation, have awarded their $2,500 July grant to the Gwinnett Coalition and its Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center.

The Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center (GVRC) seeks to meet the needs of veterans and their military families by providing information, referrals, and resources in a welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice to our country.

The Stripers selected the Gwinnett Coalition to receive the July “Military” themed grant. The $2,500 grant will be utilized by the Gwinnett Coalition in the GVRC’s Gift Card Program. To address food insecurity and prevent loss of transportation (which can cause job loss), the GVRC assists veterans and their families with gift cards to purchase food and gas. Veterans who receive gift cards for specific purchases are required to submit receipts showing that the card was used for the purpose for which it was given.

“We are grateful to the Gwinnett Stripers for this generous contribution to our efforts to help Gwinnett veterans in need,” said Renee Byrd-Lewis, Executive Director of Gwinnett Coalition. “Everyone needs the basics, like food and gas, a roof over their head, to be safe, to belong, and to live to their full potential. Those who’ve served our country have sacrificed so much and when our veterans fall on hard times, we owe it to them to step in and give them the support they need. Thanks to this grant we will be able to connect more veterans and their families to a wealth of resources that will enable them to thrive.”

Representatives from the Gwinnett Coalition received the grant from the Stripers during the “Red, White, & BOOM Patriotic Celebration” on July 9.

Sounds Announce Online Auction of Camouflage Military Jerseys

 

The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club announced today an online auction of their game-used Military Appreciation Jerseys to benefit the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center at Middle Tennessee State University. The auction begins today and runs until Friday, Aug. 13 at 6:00 p.m.

The Sounds wore the camouflage military jerseys during the 2019 season and twice so far in 2021 – Saturday, May 15 and on Saturday, July 3. The club will wear them for a final time as part of Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, Aug. 8.

The Sounds offer military family ticket discounts for every game at First Horizon Park. A $2 discount on single-game ticket prices is available for any Reserved Section seat – based on availability. The Daniels Center at MTSU is the largest and most comprehensive veterans center on any public higher education campus. It enables the over 1,200 military-connected student population at MTSU to have a one-stop shop to meet a variety of academic needs. FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne TinCaps are partnering again with OmniSource LLC, Steel Dynamics Inc., and the San Diego Padres to welcome military personnel to Parkview Field for Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, Aug. 29 (1:05 p.m.) when the team hosts the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds affiliate).

The Charleston RiverDogs will host games at The Joe for the first time in the month of July when the Augusta GreenJackets come to town for a six-game series July 13-18. The team will reach the halfway point of the 120-game season during the series. The RiverDogs own one of the best records in Minor League Baseball and lead the Low-A East’s South Division.

The week will begin with the second Military Appreciation Night of the season and come to a conclusion with the inaugural National Baseball Day. In between, the RiverDogs will host weekly staples such as Thirsty Thursday and Fireworks Friday, as well as celebrate iconic Japanese animation on Anime Night Saturday. Here is the full lineup:

Tuesday, July 13, 7:05 p.m.: Military Appreciation Night/Medal of Honor Society Visit/Dog Day: The RiverDogs and Boeing will open the week with a gigantic tribute to military members on our second Military Appreciation Night of the season. Military members and their families can receive free tickets to the game by calling the box office. The team will take part on the field, wearing special patriotic jerseys. The RiverDogs will also have special guests in attendance from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. The society is in Charleston to recognize their 2020 and 2021 Citizen Honorees. Several Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients will be recognized throughout the game in the ballpark with one of them, Sergeant Major Matthew O. Williams, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. In addition, four-legged friends are welcome every Tuesday so don’t leave them at home! Bring the pup along to the ballpark for each and every Island Coastal Lager Dog Day, when we encourage you to #TakeItEasy. Fans can also enjoy $2 hot dogs and $2 beers. Wednesday, July 14, 7:05 p.m.: Wicked Wednesday: It’s the middle of the work week! As is the case for every Wednesday at the ballpark, we will celebrate craft beer and throw in some wicked good fun thanks to Wicked Weed. It is also Segra Business Night Out, celebrating the local business community. This week’s wicked deal will feature $5 Upper Reserved, Grandstand and General Admission tickets with use of the promo code: WICKED5.

Thursday, July 15, 7:05 p.m.: Thirsty Thursday: Where else would you rather be on a Thursday night? $1 beers are available throughout The Joe on each Budweiser Thirsty Thursday this season! Friday, July 16, 7:05 p.m.: Fireworks/Red Shirt Friday: As always on the final day of the work week, the RiverDogs and Boeing invite you to wear red in support of those who serve our country. On the field, the team will participate as well, wearing special red jerseys. The night will be capped with another fireworks spectacular presented by REV Federal Credit Union. The fireworks show will be set to songs from boy bands. Friday games are presented by 103.5 WEZL.

Saturday, July 17, 6:05 p.m.: Anime Night: Kamehameha!!! Grab your shuriken and help us take down our aite from Augusta on this night celebrating iconic Japanese animation. Following the game, a helicopter will drop thousands of numbered bouncy balls onto the field. If a ball lands on the target at home plate, the fan with the corresponding number will walk away with $1,000. If no ball lands on the target, the nearest ball will be worth $500. Saturdays are presented by ABCNews4 and MyTV Charleston.

*Sunday, July 18, 5:05 p.m.: National Baseball Day Celebration/Family Sunday: * The homestand will come to a conclusion with our celebration of the Inaugural National Baseball Day. RiverDogs Director of Community Outreach Chris Singleton, a former Chicago Cubs draft pick, will host a free clinic during the afternoon for children to learn more about the game. The team will also honor players and coaches from the Post and Courier’s All-Lowcountry baseball and softball teams during the contest. As always, the week ends with a Family Sunday presented by MUSC Health. Parking is free and children are invited to stick around and run the bases following the game. This Sunday is presented by Mix 95.9.

Mets to support military families at Clover Park on Friday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (July 8, 2021) – The St. Lucie Mets will show their support to military families and RememberEveryoneDeployed.org (R.E.D.) on Friday, July 9 when they take on the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels at 6:10 p.m.

R.E.D. is an organization that raises awareness about the hardships of those deployed and their families. They act in support of the ‘silent soldiers,’ the families of those deployed and provide direct aid to active duty military and their families. R.E.D. was founded in 2016 in Jacksonville, N.C. at Camp LeJeune, a Marine Corps Base, to show solidarity and support for deployed service members.

The Mets will support the organization with a promotional giveaway at Clover Park on Friday, July 9. The team, along with Fiserv, will give away a military-themed T-Shirt to the first 1,500 fans in attendance in support of RememberEveryoneDeployed.org.

R.E.D. representatives will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch and will conduct on-site activations on the concourse at Clover Park where fans can donate to the cause and support active duty military and their families.

R.E.D. and Fiserv will honor the Hometown Hero of the Game, SGT Eliza Ale-Finks, who serves in the United States Army and has recently returned home from deployment.

Dragons to Recognize “Hometown Heroes” Recipient During July 7 Game

 

Dayton, Ohio — The Dayton Dragons will recognize St. Vincent Supportive Services as a “Hometown Heroes” recipient during a special inning break of the Dragons game on Wednesday, July 7th against the West Michigan Whitecaps at Day Air Ballpark. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.

The Dayton Dragons shine the spotlight on the military, past and present, through the Hometown Heroes program. This program hosts military families at every Dragons game, recognizes outstanding military organizations and individuals and welcomes the newest members of the armed forces during special ceremonies.

On any given night in America, there are 76,000 US military veterans sleeping on the streets. Those same veterans who once defended America’s freedom are forced to call park benches and bus stops their bed for the night. The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has instituted many programs aimed at solving the causes of veteran homelessness. One of these programs is right here in our backyard. It is the St. Vincent de Paul’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF).

The SSVF assists veterans and their families with homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing. The program identifies veterans who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, and helps them secure stable and affordable housing. Many of the veterans served by SSVF are in very low-income families who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing.

The task is no small one for the SSVF. Seventeen percent of the overall homeless population is made up of veterans and more than half of those homeless veterans also have disabilities. Whether they suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder or another disability, it is much harder for disabled veterans to secure employment, especially in the times of the current pandemic.

In these cases, the SSVF provides the veteran with help in obtaining their rightful VA benefits, plus additional support such as rent and utility assistance, and connections to employment opportunities.

BlueClaws Donate Tickets at Joint Base For Military Appreciation Night; Fans Can Support Program Through Donations

 

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – In advance of Military Appreciation Night, set for July 8th at FirstEnergy Park, the BlueClaws, through their Host a Hero program, donated tickets and caps to military members on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Wednesday morning. This program is made possible by donations from fans through the special program.

BlueClaws manager Tank Adamson stood next to an M47 Medium Tank on the base Wednesday and made the donation to military members and representatives of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Through the Host a Hero Program, the BlueClaws collect ticket donations for Vets Night Out from fans to bring military heroes and first responders to the ballpark. These tickets are used for Military Appreciation Night on July 8th and First Responders Night on September 11th. Fans can donate tickets online by clicking here. Donation rates are as follows:
