May 23, 2017

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) – The Lexington Legends are proud to partner with Robbie and Brittany Ross through their non-profit foundation Mission 108, a Human Rights organization focused on helping survivors of Human Trafficking and extreme poverty throughout the globe.

Robbie Ross Jr., a Lexington native and graduate of Lexington Christian Academy, is a current professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox organization. Robbie and his wife Brittany started Mission 108 in 2012 while working with underserved communities in Lexington. While traveling and exploring different cultures as an MLB family, they experienced firsthand the impact that modern day slavery and extreme poverty has on people throughout the globe. Robbie and Brittany realized that their mission needed to be centered on empowering the vulnerable and serving those affected by Human Trafficking.

Mission 108 came to the Legends through the Community Organization of the Night program, a free opportunity the Legends offer to non-profits throughout the region at every Legends home game, to provide a platform for those organizations to inform the public about their cause and good works. Mission 108 will be the Community Organization of the Night on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

In addition to hosting an informational table in the concourse, participating in a pregame on-field interview and on air radio interview during the game, the Lexington Legends and Mission 108 are holding a Mystery Autograph Baseball Grab Bag Event in the concourse during the Legends game on May 28, 2017 at 2:05pm when the Legends take on Tim Tebow and the Columbia Fireflies.

Autographed Baseballs will be available for $30.00 each and in unmarked numbered bags. Fans participating in the Grab Bag Event will have a chance at over 60 different baseballs autographed by Major League Baseball Players, Top Prospects in the Royals and Nationals organizations, former UK Basketball and Football players and Legends 2017 Team signed balls.  In order to participate in the Mystery Autograph Baseball Grab Bag Event, fans must have a ticket to the May 28, 2017 Legends game.

“Mission 108 is excited to combine our love for baseball with our passion for anti-human trafficking at this event. Funds raised from this mystery ball event go directly to those affected. It will be a great time, and we hope to see all of you there. Thank you for your support” states Brittany Ross, co-founder of Mission 108.

Shuckers raise over $6,000 for March of Dimes

May 3, 2017

BILOXI, MS – For their April 22 game against the Jackson Generals, the Biloxi Shuckers wore special coast-themed jerseys which were auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting March of Dimes. In addition to the jersey auction, members of the Shuckers front office and seasonal employees participated in the South Mississippi March for Babies on April 29.

Biloxi Shuckers fans answered the call once again and helped to raise just over $6,000 for the March of Dimes from the jersey auction, proceeds from that night’s launch-a-ball promotion, t-shirt drive & online fundraising campaign.

Video: March of Dimes Jersey Night Recap

“The March of Dimes was thrilled to partner with the Biloxi Shuckers for our largest fundraising event, March for Babies,” said Jennifer Parker, Executive Director of Market Development at March of Dimes.

“The jersey auction was a great way to raise funds for the vital work of the March of Dimes. It was incredible to see so many people connect about the March of Dimes mission all the while enjoying a great evening of fun. My family won a jersey and my son now has it placed in a shadow box in his bedroom. The partnership between the Biloxi Shuckers and March of Dimes has made a remarkable impact on the monies raised here in Mississippi and the overall mission to give every baby a healthy start.”

The jerseys were designed by local tattoo artist Matt Stebly, showcasing the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The custom design features a redfish, a pelican and the iconic Biloxi lighthouse in a watercolor style. The game-worn jerseys were auctioned during the game in a silent auction. After the game, winners had the opportunity to meet the player or coach who wore the jersey and get it autographed.

The March of Dimes funds lifesaving research and works to end premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality.

The Biloxi Shuckers are committed to their community and are proactively seeking ways to improve the quality of life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Shuckers partner with non-profits, military, schools and youth athletic organizations to provide benevolent outreach. In addition to financial assistance, the Shuckers front office staff has volunteered 144 hours so far in the community this year.

The Shuckers return to action tonight at MGM Park, in the homestand opener against the Montgomery Biscuits. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:35 pm. Bring your appetite to MGM Park each Wednesday this season for an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Left Field Terrace which will include hamburgers, hot dogs, and offerings from Papa John’s, Aztecas Restaurant & Cantina, Murky Waters, Krispy Kreme and more. BURLINGTON, VT — The Vermont Lake Monsters are excited to announce the continued partnership with Five Guys Burgers and Fries during the annual May Days fundraiser to benefit non-profits from across the state of Vermont. “Five Guys May Days” fundraiser will launch May 1st as a month-long program devoted to helping raise funds and awareness for state wide non-profits.

Support of local non-profits has demonstrated the strong commitment both the Lake Monsters and Five Guys have to the greater Burlington community. The goal of this program is not only to provide the opportunity for organizations to raise money, but also raise awareness for their programs while providing a chance for supporters to come together at the ballpark.

The Howard Center is just one of the many local non-profits who has benefitted from participating in Five Guys May Days and will continue the tradition this year. “Throughout the year, we benefit from the generous support of the Lake Monsters.” said Catherine Shahan, Director of Community Friends Mentoring at the Howard Center. “We appreciate our community partnership as it provides opportunities for many of our clients to enjoy an afternoon or evening of baseball, hot dogs, and fun!” Thank you, Lake Monsters for giving back and ensuring the whole community has access to your programs.”

Bees Offer Custom Jerseys For “Pack the Park Pink”

April 26, 2017

SALT LAKE CITY (April 26, 2017) – The Salt Lake Bees are again offering a one-of-a-kind VIP package to raise money for Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) at the team’s 11th annual “Pack the Park Pink Night” at Smith’s Ballpark on Saturday, May 13.

The VIP package includes a customized Bees jersey that will be worn on field by Bees players and coaches. The name on the back of each jersey will be chosen by donors to honor loved ones that have battled cancer.

“We were overwhelmed with the response to this unique jersey last year,” Bees General Manager Marc Amicone said. “Putting someone else’s name on your back gave our players something special to play for that night and it meant the world to the families who took advantage of the offer. It also helped us set a new team-high for fundraising for Huntsman Cancer Foundation with over $26,000 raised during the game and that is what the night is all about.”

Also included in the VIP package are two on-field passes to watch batting practice before the game, 10 tickets to the game that night and a chance to take their own batting practice on June 24. After the game on May 13 donors will be invited onto the field to meet the Bees player that wore their jersey and have it autographed. Donors are then welcome to stay on the field to watch the fireworks show.

The package is available for a minimum donation of $400 to Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Donations can be made by contacting George Mathis at Huntsman Cancer Foundation at 801-584-5834 or gmathis@huntsmanfoundation.org.

Additional details about the VIP packages are available at www.slbees.com. All items in the package are donated by the Bees without cost, with 100 percent of all funds raised directly benefiting Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

“This is an exciting year for OSOT-America with moving Rockin’ for the Troops to Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, along with a different main act,” said Jamie Nelson, Executive Director of OSOT-America. “We are hard at work to continue with the tradition of a day of support for our Military Community. Rockin’ for the Troops helps us to raise the necessary funds to continue our mission of providing comfort and care for deployed troops. These funds are critical to our mission to cover the cost of shipping our comfort and care packages, provide one-time grants to veterans under financial stress and help our families of the fallen. We appreciate the continued support of our local communities.”
