Toy drive leads Foundation’s holiday initiatives

November 30, 2018

With the holiday season underway, the RoughRiders Foundation continues to be an active supporter of local non-profit organizations in Frisco and surrounding areas.

On Friday, December 7, the foundation is hosting its annual toy drive in partnership with Toys For Tots during the RoughRiders Winter Wonderland event. The drive is one of the Foundation’s biggest events each year, generating boxes full of toys for kids in need during the holidays. Fans can donate new, unwrapped toys at the home plate gate from 5-10 pm. The event will also include live updates from the ballpark on FOX4.

“The holidays are such a great time to give back and we’re doing our best to assist in every way we can,” said Breon Dennis, Executive Director of the RoughRiders Foundation. “We’re especially excited about the toy drive and thank our great fans in advance for their generous donations.”

In addition to the toy drive, RoughRiders players and staff have been busy spreading holiday cheer the last few weeks by volunteering at local schools, food banks, and animal shelters. The foundation also staged a silent auction on November 27 as part of “Giving Tuesday” to help fund future initiatives with community partners.

If you would like the RoughRiders to volunteer with your organization, please email community@ridersbaseball.com. For more information on the RoughRiders Foundation, click here.

The 2019 season begins April 4 at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Ticket memberships and group hospitality packages are now on sale. The promotional calendar will be unveiled in early 2019 with single-game tickets going on sale soon after. For more information, visit RidersBaseball.com or call (972) 731-9200.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and play their games at beautiful Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 14 seasons (2005-2018). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. Since then, the new ownership group, together with the City of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise enhancements, investing over $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, InTouch Grille, Riders Outpost Team Store and the world’s largest water feature in a sports facility, the massive Choctaw Lazy River. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest’s prestigious “Best Ballpark Renovation” award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). More than 140 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball, including All-Stars Chris Davis, Adrian Gonzalez, Ian Kinsler and Neftali Feliz, as well as current Rangers stars Elvis Andrus, Rougned Odor and Nomar Mazara. Potomac Nationals to Begin Toys for Tots Drive November 9th

November 8, 2017

Woodbridge, VA—As the holiday season comes upon us, the Potomac Nationals are excited to announce a new partnership with Toys for Tots. The local program, run by the Quantico Chapter of the US Marine Corps, collects new, unwrapped toys in November and December. These gifts are then spread to children in the area on Christmas Day.

“While the holiday season is a joyous time of the year for the Potomac Nationals family, spent reflecting on all which we are thankful for, and sharing gifts with our loved ones and friends, there are many underprivileged children in our region who will not be afforded the same opportunity to open presents during the holidays,” said Potomac Nationals GM of Sales, Bryan Holland.

“In an effort to serve as a conduit to our community’s less fortunate, the P-Nats are honored to partner with the Toys for Tots program, which annually distributes millions of toys to kids across the United States, as a means to collect toys that will be distributed directly to kids in Northern Virginia who would not otherwise be receiving gifts from their families,” said Holland.

This is the first year that the P-Nats and Toys for Tots have partnered during the holiday season. Collections will begin in the P-Nats’ Front Office at Pfitzner Stadium starting tomorrow, November 9th, and will conclude on Monday, December 11th. Toys can be dropped off at Pfitzner Stadium during normal business hours (9am-5pm) Monday through Friday. Anyone who contributes a new and unwrapped toy will receive four undated grandstand tickets for the 2018 Potomac Nationals’ season.

“Any time that the Potomac Nationals can utilize our network of fans, booster club members, sponsors, and friends of the franchise to benefit the greater good, and in this case, to make the holiday season a special and memorable one for underprivileged kids in our community, our club is prepared to dive headfirst into that effort,” said Holland.

“Thank you in advance to the terrific Red, White, & Blue fan base for your support towards the donation of toys and other gifts, which will reach our community’s disadvantaged children following the Potomac Nationals’ Toys for Tots holiday drive.”

Preparations for the 41st season in Potomac franchise history are already underway, as season tickets are currently on sale! Fans who renew their full or half-season plan with a deposit of either 10% or $50, whichever is higher, by December 1st, can lock in 2017 ticket prices for the 2018 campaign before the new 2018 pricing goes into effect.

The Potomac Nationals of the Carolina League play at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Virginia, and are the Carolina League affiliate of the Washington Nationals. The Potomac Nationals have claimed five Carolina League Championship titles (1982, 1989, 2008, 2010, and 2014) and nine CL Northern Division Championships. Sponsorship opportunities for the P-Nats’ 2018 season and beyond are available, as well as all-inclusive corporate outings to watch the future stars of the Washington Nationals at The Pfitz. 2018 Potomac Nationals Season Tickets are now on sale. Frederick-KeysThe holiday season is right around the corner, and for the third consecutive season the Keys will be partnering with Toys for Tots. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.

Members of the Frederick community can drop off toys at Harry Grove Stadium starting on November 5, from 9-5 p.m, Monday to Friday. Anyone who donates a toy will receive two tickets to a 2015 Frederick Keys home game along with two Keys hats.

Toys-for-Tots-logo-2014bThe Toys for Tots Drive concludes on Saturday, December 13, when the Keys host their annual holiday event in the Mattress Warehouse Club.

“We received tremendous support from the community during our toy drive last year,” said Director of Marketing Bridget McCabe. “The Keys love bringing smiles to the faces of local kids during the holiday season, and our annual partnership with Toys for Tots allows us to do just that.”

The Keys Holiday Event on December 13 will run from 10am-1pm. More details will be available at a later date. Ticket plans for the 2015 season are now available, and can be purchased by calling an account manager at 301-815-9900. Every plan comes with the choice of a Zach Britton or Kevin Gausman bobblehead.
