SeaWolves To Host Inaugural Diamond Dinner

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are partnering with MECA, Inc, to raise funds to build the first barrier-free baseball field in Erie County. The project, known as a Miracle League Field, will enable individuals with physical and mental disabilities to safely play baseball on a cushioned, wheelchair-accessible playing surface.

On Thursday, August 16, the SeaWolves Community Fund will host its first ever Diamond Dinner fundraiser on the infield at UPMC Park from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with proceeds benefitting the Miracle League of Erie County. The Diamond Dinner will include live entertainment, raffle prizes, a live auction, catering from top local restaurants and cocktails from area breweries and wineries. Attendees will have the chance to meet SeaWolves players, Detroit Tigers guests and the stars of Erie’s own Miracle League.

“The nearest Miracle League Field is about 100 miles away,” SeaWolves Team President Greg Coleman said. “With the support of the community, we can enhance a neighborhood park and create a safe and welcoming environment where kids and adults can play ball, develop skills, and build friendships.”

Tickets for the Diamond Dinner are $85 each. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. In addition, the Diamond Dinner committee is seeking a wide array of raffle prizes and live auction items.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Cardinals are excited to partner with Ozarks Food Harvest to host the 2018 Cardinals Food Drive.

Donate Tickets to Veterans Through Vets Night Out

The BlueClaws are parterning with OceanFirst Bank on Vets Night Out, a program that donates tickets for local military personnel, both veterans and active.

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The BlueClaws and OceanFirst Bank have partnered on Vets Night Out, a program through which fans can donate tickets that will be given directly to veterans to enjoy BlueClaws games on June 14th and August 21st this year.

There are four levels of donation: Red, White, Blue, and Eagle, with each level including varying degrees of benefits.

  • Red – A $100 donation includes 10 tickets for veterans. Each donor receives on-field recognition and two tickets to the games on June 14th and August 21st.
  • White – A $250 donation includes 25 tickets for veterans. Each donor receives on-field and website recognition plus four tickets to the games on June 14th and August 21st.
  • Blue – A $500 donation includes 50 tickets for veterans. Each donor receives on-field and website recognition, an exclusive Field Day (date TBD), and eight tickets to the games on June 14th and August 21st.
  • Eagle – A $1,000 donation gives 100 tickets for veterans. Each donor receives on-field and website recognition, an exclusive Field Day (date TBD), and a BlueClaws Luxury Suite outing (for 20) either Labor Day Weekend or to an April/May game in 2019 (dates are subject to availability).

Safe Kids Upstate Day is Wednesday at Fluor Field

The Drive will hold their annual Safe Kids Upstate Day at Fluor Field, in partnership with Greenville Health System and Bradshaw Automotive, on Wednesday night. First pitch against the Augusta GreenJackets is at 7:05 PM, and the fun begins when the gates open at 6:00 PM.

Safety Patrol members will participate in a pregame parade around the Fluor Field warning track at 6:30 PM, and Safe Kids will be handing out bike helmets to the first 400 children who enter the Fluor Field gates.

Throughout the night, the Drive will be recognizing Safe Kids Upstate’s annual award winners, including their Grand Slam Winner, Volunteers of the Year, the Hero Award, and the Brian Donnelly Lifetime Achievement Award. Children of all ages will also be able to learn more about all aspects of safety “At Home, At Play and On the Way” with concourse exhibits and interactive stations, and following the completion of all stations, children will have a chance to win great prizes.

Donald Driver Charity Softball Game presented by Network Health Back by Popular Demand

GRAND CHUTE, WI – Back by popular demand, Donald Driver is returning…to Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium for another charity softball game! The Green Bay Packers All Time Leading Receiver, Super Bowl Champion, Dancing with the Stars Champion and New York Times Best Selling Author will host his game on Sunday, August 5. Game time is 1:05pm.

Say No to Drugs Day at City Stadium

Lynchburg, Va. – The Lynchburg Hillcats will host their 30th annual Say No to Drugs Day at City Stadium on Wednesday, April 18 (tomorrow) when the Hillcats take on the Frederick Keys.

Although many Lynchburg City and surrounding schools have been closed the last several days due to power outages from the recent storm, the event will still continue as scheduled. 

Even if your school is closed tomorrow, the Hillcats invite students, family, faculty and staff to attend tomorrow’s game FREE of charge. Those associated with the schools can pick up free tickets at the City Stadium box office.

The educational programming starts at 10 a.m., and will include Hillcats players, the Amherst County Sheriff’s Department, and Hillcats General Manager Ronnie Roberts. The Sheriff’s Department will be bringing a K-9 unit to demonstrate their drug sniffing dogs. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Drive return to Fluor Field on Monday night, and they will team up with Michelin North America to hold the Reading All-Stars Celebration Game for Greenville County students.

First pitch for the game against the Augusta GreenJackets is at 7:05 PM, and the fun begins when the gates open at 6:00 PM. Greenville County students who completed the Reading All-Stars program this school year will be presented with a t-shirt from the Drive and Michelin, and they will also participate in a pregame parade around the Fluor Field warning track at 6:30.

During the game, kids will have the chance to participate in a book fair courtesy of Public Education Partners, who work to improve public education and student achievement in Greenville County Schools.

Fresno Grizzlies partner with Poverello House to donate leftover stadium food

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Grizzlies have partnered with Poverello House in Fresno to create and implement a “Zero Waste” policy at Chukchansi Park throughout the 2018 season as it relates to excess and leftover concession food.

Poverello House and their service to the homeless is a natural fit to ensure the Grizzlies are doing their part in being stewards of the Central Valley community and donating food directly to those in need shortly after it’s prepared. The food and beverage operations arm of the Fresno Grizzlies, Professional Sports Catering (PSC), has taken the lead with managing the fulfillment of this partnership.

“Poverello House is only a few blocks away, so we’re glad to help out and make sure all leftover food is donated properly,” says Patrick Day, VP of Operations for PSC. PSC will ensure that recently prepared food is delivered in a sanitary fashion as it relates to transportation and temperature, so it may be re-heated and/or re-packaged to give filling meals to those in need.

“This is a great partnership for us, PSC, and Poverello House,” said Derek Franks, President of the Fresno Grizzlies. “It’s imperative that we create partnerships like this and continue to be a leader in Downtown Fresno. There is no reason to throw out food that can help our neighbors, and it’s a relief knowing that we’re able make someone’s day a little more comfortable, when they know where their next meal is coming from,” Franks continued.

In addition to 68 home game openings for Grizzlies baseball in the spring and summer, Chukchansi Park holds over 100 special events in a calendar year, including professional soccer. There will be several occasions to donate excess food to the hungry.

During every OKC Dodgers home game at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, guests can sign up to become an organ donor and receive an exclusive LifeShare Everlasting Fans T-Shirt. Guests can visit the promotions table located on the concourse behind section 110 to sign up or learn more.

Last season, more than 1,200 people registered to become an organ donor at OKC Dodgers games.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Oklahoma City Dodgers this season,” said Jeffrey Orlowski, President and CEO of LifeShare of Oklahoma. “Allowing fans to register their decision to be a donor at Dodgers home games gives hope to nearly 700 Oklahomans waiting on a lifesaving transplant.”

National Donate Life Month began in 2003 and is celebrated in April to “help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of donation,” according to the Donate Life America website.

 

LifeShare of Oklahoma was created in 1986 and is a nonprofit, federally designed organ procurement organization dedicated to the recovery of organs and tissue for transplant purposes. LifeShare works closely with five transplant centers and 145 health care organizations in Oklahoma to facilitate donation.

LifeShare of Oklahoma strives “to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation through public education,” according to the organization’s website.

The OKC Dodgers close out their first homestand of the season tonight against the New Orleans Baby Cakes at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

CLEARWATER THRESHERS BASEBALL CAMP 2018

Registration is open and space is limited.

  • Monday, June 11 – Thursday, June 14; 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Children ages 6-13
  • $160 per child

Each camper receives:

  • Group and individual instruction by Threshers players and coaches, and NextUp Academy
  • Camp t-shirt and Threshers hat
  • Lunch each day from 12-12:20 p.m.
  • Wednesday’s 10:30 a.m. Threshers game and one free ticket to Thursday’s 7 p.m. game

Miracle League game, Hoskins statue highlight Saturday

You’ll want to be early for this one.

An eventful Saturday lies ahead at Coca-Cola Park as the IronPigs will host their annual Miracle League game, jersey auction and give away a Rhys Hoskins Bronze statue to the first 3,000 adults (18+) through the gates.

Saturdays are for the bacon, but this one is for so much more. Gates will open at 5 p.m. so fans are able to watch the Miracle League game, which allows kids from the Miracle Leagues of Northampton and Lehigh Counties to swing for the fences on the Coca-Cola Park field before an IronPigs contest. IronPigs players will be on the field to act as “angels” for our Miracle League players before they match up with the Louisville Bats.

During the Pigs’ game (6:35 p.m. first pitch) the Pigs will be wearing special Miracle League jerseys that will be available via an auction presented by Majestic/Fanatics. Details on the auction will be available on gameday.

In addition to all this excitement, the Pigs will give a Rhys Hoskins bronze statue to the first 3,000 adults through the gates. The statue immortalizes Hoskins , who was named the International League MVP and Rookie of the Year in 2017. Hoskins, who joined the Philadelphia Phillies last summer, is one of baseball’s most exciting young players and is batting .364 in 2018.
