Great Lakes and CMU partner to show support for American military
MIDLAND, Mich. – As part of their Memorial Day Celebration, presented by Central Michigan University, on Monday, May 27, the Great Lakes Loons and CMU will be partnering to collect items that are needed by members of the United States military.
Fans are encouraged to show their support for American troops by bringing an item with you to the Memorial Day game. All collections will be packaged and shipped to the 1460th Transportation & 144th MP companies.
Collection points will be set up at both entrances to Dow Diamond and cash donations also will be accepted.
For anybody that is unable to attend the game, items can also be dropped off at Dow Diamond between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Gifts and packages will also be collected at CMU University Communications between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, until May 31.
The Loons will take on the Dayton Dragons at 3:05 p.m. on Monday, May 27, as part of Memorial Day Celebration. It will also be a Social Media Monday at Dow Diamond. Fans can interact with the Loons on Facebook, Twitter and the Loons new Boomaphone app during the game to request songs, win prizes and compete in on-field contests.

The State College Spikes and the New York-Penn League are proud to announce that the league’s philanthropic arm, the NYPL Charitable Foundation, will once again award over $10,000 in scholarships this summer to deserving high school graduates from the league’s 14 markets, including Central PA.
San Bernardino, CA – The Inland Empire 66ers have partnered with the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Department and local police departments for a special Protect and Serve Night, presented by Toyota and Scion of Redlands, honoring the brave men and women of local law enforcement. Proceeds from ticket sales for the game and bids from the silent auction of team jerseys will benefit the MacKay and Collins families, both affected during the recent Big Bear manhunt.
ICA Broadcasting has seeded a drive for families affected by the severe weather in Oklahoma (Moore, Oklahoma City area), with a donation of $150,000 and are asking local residents to contribute as well. Cash donations (or check) will go to the Red Cross efforts in the area.
Anyone that donates at Citibank Ballpark will receive a ticket voucher to a future RockHounds home game.
OMAHA, Neb. – The tragic events in Moore, Oklahoma over the past few days have hit close to home with the Omaha Storm Chasers, not only because of the storm and tornado history associated with the state of Nebraska and the Omaha Metro but also due to the Pacific Coast League membership of the Oklahoma City RedHawks, whose home park is located just fifteen minutes away from the city of Moore.

The outing tees off with registration beginning at 8:00am and a shotgun start at 9:00am. Lunch is included with registration and will be served at the turn. Snacks will be available after the round of golf from 2-4pm. A raffle drawing and awards presentation will conclude the event.



SALT LAKE CITY (May 20, 2013) – The Salt Lake Bees, in conjunction with the Utah State Office of Education, will host Prevention Dimensions Day at the Bees vs. Memphis Redbirds game on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:35 a.m. The Bees will welcome more than 11,000 students to this 10th annual event at Spring Mobile Ballpark which promotes drug and alcohol prevention.

BELOIT, WI – On Thursday, May 16th, the Beloit Snappers presented the Mercy Foundation with a donation of $1,150 for breast cancer research. The Snappers raised this money during the team’s pink jersey auction on Mother’s Day, May 12th.
Your Silver Hawks host the annual Pink in the Park this Saturday and Sunday to honor all those affected by breast cancer. The annual event at the Coveleski Regional Stadium is presented by Memorial Regional Breast Care Center, B100 and ABC 57. A special pink Silver Hawks’ replica jersey on will be given out to the first 500 women 18 and older Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, May 18th is Armed Forces Day, in which the Drive and the Upstate Community celebrate active and retired personnel from all branches of the Military. The Armed Forces Day Parade begins at 5 PM on Main Street, going through Downtown Greenville and ending at Fluor Field where the celebration continues with military displays, JROTC demonstrations, and America’s Heroes.
SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The Naturals return for a brief three-game homestand on Saturday, but Strike will be a busy Sasquatch over the next six days, making 11 appearances in five Northwest Arkansas communities as well as welcoming the Naturals back to town.
