SCOUT NIGHTS IN 2017 PRESENTED BY WHATABURGER

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are excited to partner with Whataburger for three Scout Night Campouts at Arvest Ballpark during the 2017 season. Scout Nights presented by Whataburger are open to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts and will be on Friday, April 21, Saturday, June 10, and Friday, August 25.

The annual fan favorite is not only open to scouts but their friends and family as well. These designated event nights give scouts from Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding area the opportunity to attend a Naturals game for a discounted ticket price. The game is just the beginning as after the game scouts will get the chance to watch a kid-friendly movie on the videoboard as well as camp overnight in the outfield for no additional cost. All scouts and leaders in attendance will receive a commemorative 2017 scout patch courtesy of the Naturals and a coupon courtesy of Whataburger that is redeemable at any of their Northwest Arkansas locations.

All three Scout Nights will feature a post-game Fireworks Spectacular. Friday, April 21 is a Post-Game Fireworks Spectacular with Popular Player Walk-Up Songs presented by SeaPak while Friday, August 25 is a Post-Game Fireworks Spectacular with Fan Vote Music Theme by Farm Rich. Saturday, June 10 is our popular Star Wars Night Post-Game Fireworks Spectacular. Saturday, June 10 begins at 6:35 p.m. while both Friday games start at 7:05 p.m.

“Scout Nights at Arvest Ballpark give us the opportunity to support a fun, safe event for the kids that they’ll remember for a long time,” said Whataburger Director of Operations Mark Wallace. “We know that some of the best memories come from the ballpark and all of us at Whataburger are excited to join the Naturals for a few fun nights under the stars.”

For interested scouts groups, the Naturals encourage one parent or leader to collect RSVP’s and payment from each person that would like to attend. This ensures that all members of the group attending will be seated together during the game. Legends’ donations for 2016 top $1,000,000

Big L and the Legends welcomed Girl Scouts to Whitaker Bank Ballpark for a campout May 6. More than 330 girls spent the night at the ballpark. The Girl Scouts were one of many organizations who received support from Legends’ community programs in 2016.

             (WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Lexington Legends made donations totaling $1,000,763 in 2016 to a variety of non-profit organizations serving central Kentucky.

In its 16-year history, the Legends organization has donated close to $15 million to the region.

“The Legends are proud to be part of this community and region,” said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. “We will continue to provide support to these great organizations that do so much good work.”

Among the organizations and causes who benefited from events and programs in 2016 were:

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts:  Overnight campouts for Boy Scouts (August 18) and Girl Scouts (May 6) were held following Legends games at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The scouts sold nearly 1,000 donated game tickets to raise funds for their organizations. About 700 scouts participated in the campouts.

                Breast Cancer Research and Awareness: The Legends held Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark on July 9. Funds raised through an auction of pink jerseys and pink bases used during the Legends game that night, along with t-shirt sales, benefited Kentucky Cancer Link, which serves breast cancer patients on a personal basis by reducing or eliminating barriers to screening, diagnosis and treatment; The Markey Cancer Center, established in 1983 as a Comprehensive Cancer Center; and Susan G. Komen, the world’s largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. The Legends and LBX held a celebration lunch, with proceeds going to those same three organizations.

                Military Appreciation Night: The Legends’ Military Appreciation night was held on June 25. It included an auction of jerseys to benefit Military Missions, a local non-profit organization that supports troops in a variety of ways, including the sending of care packages with personal items and snacks to military personnel.

                Bark in the Park: The Legends held 12 “Bark in the Park” nights during the 2016 season. Dog owners were invited to bring their dogs to the game, and a two-dollar “admission” charge for each dog was donated to the Scott County Humane Society.

Guns and Hoses Softball Game:  The Legends provide the setting for the Guns and Hoses game, which matches the Lexington Police Department against the Lexington Fire Department in a softball game and home run derby. The winning team takes home a trophy, and the loser receives a toilet seat as the runner-up prize. More than 2,000 people attended the 2016 game.

Community Organization of the Night:  The Legends provide an opportunity for a local non-profit organization to step into the spotlight at a Legends home game. Organizations may set up an information table on the concourse, and a representative is interviewed on the field before the game and on radio during the game.    Organizations who purchased discounted tickets for re-sale as a fundraiser also received 25% of the proceeds from that night’s 50-50 raffle. (The Legends Charitable Fund also received 25%, and the fan holding the winning ticket received 50%.)

                Hit the Books Reading Program: Geared toward elementary schools, the Legends’ Hit the Books Reading Program is designed to encourage students to read, both in school and away from school.    The Legends gave away 33,000 Hit the Books bookmarks to students in central Kentucky in 2016. (A winning bookmark design is selected from students’ entries.) Those who complete the Hit the Books reading program are awarded two tickets to a Legends home game.

Field of Dreams: The Paul Miller Ford Field of Dreams program allows youth baseball and softball players to be part of pre-game festivities. Members of the youth teams are introduced to the fans and take the field along with the Legends starters. Teams are selected at random from registrations received at Field of Dreams sponsor locations.   Team members receive complimentary admission to the game. The Legends hosted 80 Field of Dreams teams in 2016.

           Legends Character Award at William Wells Brown Elementary:   Every nine weeks during the school year, 19 students from William Wells Brown Elementary School in Lexington are selected to receive the Legends Character Award. The award is designed to motivate students to demonstrate good behavior and a great attitude. The students are nominated by their classroom teachers. Winners are publicly recognized and personally congratulated by the Legends’ Big L.

Kids Area:   At every Legends home game in 2016, Lafayette High School cheerleaders volunteered to work in the Aetna Kids Play Area to raise money for their cheer program. The Legends made a $7,500 donation to the program.

Go Red Night: The American Heart Association and St. Joseph Health Care System sponsored a “Go Red” Night June 3 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, where fans received information on the dangers and risks of heart disease. Free blood pressure checks and presentations of information were provided throughout the game.

Donation requests:  The Legends donate tickets, memorabilia or merchandise to as many organizations as possible. Tickets are used by members of the non-profit organizations or for auctions to raise funds for those organizations. The Legends fulfilled more than 300 donation requests in 2016.

  United Way of the Bluegrass:  Donors to the annual United Way of the Bluegrass campaign receive two free box seat tickets to a Legends home game. In 2016, the Legends donated 23,333 tickets for use by the United Way.

St. Joseph Hospital Nursing Scholarship Program: At the end of every baseball season, the Legends hold a silent auction for the jerseys worn by the players during home games. Proceeds go to the St. Joseph Hospital Nursing Scholarship Program.

                Fundraising tickets:   The Legends offer schools, teams and other organizations an opportunity to buy tickets at a discounted price and raise funds by selling the tickets at the regular price. More than 5,000 tickets were purchased at the discount rate for fundraising in 2016.

BlueClaws to hold four Scout Nights in 2015

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Calling all Scouts! The BlueClaws will again hold an extensive Scout program in 2015 and kick it off in style, wearing special Boy Scout Jerseys at their first Scout Day game on Sunday, June 7th.

The special scout jerseys are presented by the Jersey Shore Council of Boy Scouts. They will be auctioned off at the 1:05 pm game and the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Jersey Shore Council of Boy Scouts.

The BlueClaws Scout Program includes four days – June 7th (1:05), July 25th (7:05), August 8th (7:05), August 17th (7:05). July 25th and August 8th are both Scout Night Sleeporvers presented by Camping World, where scouts can camp out on the field after the game. June 7th and August 17th are Kids Eat Free days where scouts 12 and under will receive a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a soda.

Each participating boy or girl scout will receive a Scout Patch. This year’s patch was designed by Grace Beeler of Girl Scout Troop 114 in Hazlet. She was the winner of the annual BlueClaws Scout Patch Design contest.

Scout patches from each of the BlueClaws 15 seasons of Scout Nights are available in the Claws Cove.

All scout groups receive value-priced tickets and a pre-game parade, as well as additional fun.

BlueClaws Host Scout Patch Design Contest

Lakewood-BlueClaws-LogoThe BlueClaws are holding their annual Scout Patch Design Contest to determine the official patch that will be given out to scouts at Scout Nights this summer.

Use 10 colors or less to fill in the circle with your patch design. Please note on each sheet the scout’s name and their parent’s contact information. As a reminder, 2015 is the BlueClaws 15th season in Lakewood, so keep that in mind when designing your patch!

The winner will be decided on April 1st, and will be rewarded a ceremonial first pitch before whichever 2015 Scout Night they attend.

Northwest Arkansas Naturals Announce 2015 Scout Campout Dates

Northwest-Arkansas-NaturalsThe Northwest Arkansas Naturals are excited to announce that we will once again be hosting Scout Campouts by Camping World of Northwest Arkansas at Arvest Ballpark during our upcoming 2015 season. For the first time in franchise history, the Naturals will host three (3) of these Scout Campouts during the year and they will be on Friday, April 17, Saturday, June 27, and Friday, August 28.

These designated events give scouts the opportunity to attend a Naturals game for a discounted group rate and enjoy an overnight campout in the outfield after the game for no additional cost. In addition, a kid-friendly movie will be shown on the videoboard during the campout after the game and all scouts and leaders in attendance will receive a commemorative 2015 Naturals’ scout patch. The Naturals selected the scout patch this off-season from a collection of designs created by local scouts and this year’s winner was Kendra McMaster, a 9 year old from Bella Vista and a member of Girl Scout Troop 5850. Tickets for Scout Night are only $8 per person if reserved in advance.

This is a great opportunity for scouts to watch the world famous Mud Hens in action, meet boys and girls from other troops, and have a sleepover at the ballpark!

Scout Experience Nights for Boy Scouts will be held on: May 23, June 6, June 19, July 17, July 18 and August 15. Scout Experience Nights for Girl Scouts will be held on: June 20 and August 8.

IronPigs Charities Announce Record-Setting Donations

Grants Were Awarded during Thursday’s Phillies Winter Banquet

Lehigh-Valley-IronPigsIronPigs Charities, presented by The Air Production Foundation, a non-profit organization striving to provide educational and recreational opportunities for children in the Greater Lehigh Valley area, awarded a record-breaking 101,897.45 in cash grants to 22 non-profit organizations during Thursday’s Phillies Winter Banquet at the Sands Events Center. Since debuting in 2008, IronPigs Charities has contributed a total in excess of $750,000 in cash grants to dozens of local non-profit entities. Between the IronPigs Charities organization and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the total all-time cash distribution is nearing $1.1-million.

“The Phillies Winter Banquet, coupled with the opportunity to make meaningful donations to so many deserving local organizations, is truly the highlight of our year,” remarked IronPigs Charities President Kurt Landes. “It’s genuinely humbling to be in such a position to be able to impact our community in such a significant manner. And, the best is yet to come.”

Lexington-Legends-2013The Lexington Legends today announced donations for 2014 totaling $715,645 to a variety of non-profit organizations serving central Kentucky. The Ivy Walls Charitable Giving Foundation Fund at Bluegrass Community Foundation, in cooperation with the Legends and business sponsors, has presented checks to organization representatives throughout the month of November.

Ivy Walls Management is a Lexington-based organization that manages the operation of the Legends.

In its 14-year history, the Legends organization has donated close to $13 million to the region.

“There’s nothing more important to our organization than giving back to our community,” said Sarah Bosso, the Legends’ director of community relations and special events. “Each season, the Legends look forward to working with all of these amazing organizations and to developing new partnerships as well.”

“The Legends will always be active in the community,” added Legends President/COO Andy Shea. “We’re proud to have the opportunity to support these great organizations.”

Among organizations receiving funds in 2014 were:

Boy-Scouts-logo3–Boy Scouts of America Bluegrass Council:  The Legends supported the Boy Scouts through their participation in the “Brave the Blue III” campaign, in which donations were raised by those who rappelled down the 30-story Financial Center building in downtown Lexington. The Legends’ Big L has been among the rappellers in all three years of the campaign.

-Breast Cancer Research and Awareness: The Legends held a Breast Cancer Awareness Night July 12. Funds raised through an auction of pink jerseys and pink bases used during the game, along with t-shirt sales, benefited Kentucky Pink Susan-G.-KomenConnection, which serves breast cancer patients on a personal basis by reducing or eliminating barriers to screening, diagnosis and treatment; The Markey Cancer Center, established in 1983 as a Comprehensive Cancer Center; and Susan G. Komen, the world’s largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.   The Legends and LBX held a dinner, with proceeds going to those same three breast cancer charities.

Military-Missions –Military Missions: The Legends’ Military Appreciation night June 14 included an auction of camouflage jerseys to benefit Military Missions, a local non-profit organization that supports troops in a variety of ways, including the sending of care packages.

–P.A.W.S. and the Lexington Humane Society: The Legends held five “Bark in the Park” nights during the 2014 season, on which dog owners were invited to bring their dogs to a Legends game. The “admission” price for dogs was a donation to the Paris Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.) and the Lexington Humane Society.

-St. Joseph Hospital Nursing Scholarship Fund:  At the end of every baseball season, the Legends hold a silent auction for the home jerseys worn during the season with proceeds going to the St. Joseph Hospital Nursing Scholarship Program. About $4,000 was raised from the 2014 auction.

United-Way–United Way of the Bluegrass: The Legends and United Way are longtime partners on ticket donations to United Way donors, as listed below.

–Vs. Cancer:  Legends President/COO Andy Shea and catcher Chad Johnson had their heads shaved following the Legends game August 15 as part of a Vs. Cancer fund-raiser and siVs-Cancer-logogn of solidarity with young cancer patients.

In-kind donations

The Legends also make substantial in-kind donations throughout the year to many groups and organizations, including a long-standing relationship with United Way of the Bluegrass. Donors to the annual United Way of the Bluegrass campaign receive two free box seat tickets to a Legends home game.

In the 2014 season, more than 84,000 box seat tickets were donated to various organizations and camps through the Legends’ partnership with United Way, along with Hit the Books, a Legends’ campaign to encourage Central Kentucky students to read. More than 300 donations were made through the Legends online donation request system at lexingtonlegends.com under the “Community” tab.

In addition, the Legends made more than 200 public appearances in 2014 with their mascots, Big L and Pee Wee, at schools, hospitals, nursing homes and other organizations.

Aramark, the Legends’ concession partner, made significant donations to school booster clubs, primarily for work done at concession stands during games.

Report showcases organization’s impact in the South Bay

San-Jose-GiantsThe San Jose Giants released today their 2014 Community Report. The report is a complete detail of the organization’s community involvement and contributions. From expanding the team’s extensive fundraising efforts to a record number of mascot appearances and the organization’s rise from twenty-fifth in Minor League Baseball’s social media rankings to second overall, the San Jose Giants presence was felt well beyond the Municipal Stadium gates this year.

“I want to personally thank all of our fans and partners for your loyalty and passion for the San Jose Giants and our place in the community,” said Daniel Orum, San Jose Giants President and CEO. “Through the organization’s extensive work with youth sports groups, schools and regional non-profit organizations, the team has introduced baseball to millions of homes in Northern California and this year alone raised over $480,000 for charitable causes.”

The 2014 Community Report showcases the variety of charitable efforts the San Jose Giants are involved with both inside and beyond the Municipal Stadium gates. Highlights of the report include over 150 appearances made by San Jose Giants personnel, unique, community-centered evening’s at Municipal Stadium, events in partnership with the Giants Community Fund to help under served youth and in-kind donations to more than 750 local and national organizations.

PawSox win Moss Community Service Award

Pawtucket-Red-SoxMinor League Baseball announced today that the Pawtucket Red Sox are the recipients of the second annual John Henry Moss Community Service Award. The award was created in 2013 by Minor League Baseball in honor of the late John Henry Moss, who founded what would become the South Atlantic League in 1959 and headed the circuit until 2007. In its inaugural year, the Grand Junction Rockies were named the winners of the recognition. The Pawtucket Red Sox will receive their award at the Baseball Winter Meetings Banquet on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, California.

“The PawSox family is extremely honored to be selected for the 2014 John Henry Moss Community Service Award,” said Pawtucket Red Sox President Mike Tamburro. “The role of any successful franchise must be to help lift those in its community who are in need. The past four decades we have quietly tried to do our part.

“We take great pride in our ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life within our community and for creating partnerships that have carried on for generations. We share this award with our community, our Major League partner the Boston Red Sox and our wonderful fans who make all our charitable efforts possible,” added Tamburro.

American-Parkinson-Disease-AssociationFor the last 38 seasons, the Pawtucket Red Sox have been an integral part of their local community. Along with providing the best in affordable family entertainment, the PawSox primary goal as a team is to be actively involved in making a difference in Southeastern New England. The PawSox are strong financial supporters of countless charitable organizations and youth-based programs in their area, and every staff member either serves on a Board of Directors, sits on Advisory Council or volunteers in some capacity with multiple community organizations.

American-Cancer-Society-logThe Pawtucket Red Sox Charitable Trust has contributed to hundreds of charitable organizations and important causes in the area, donating more than $250,000 during the last five years. For almost 40 years, the PawSox have also contributed to local charities through the team’s Ticket Fundraiser Program. This program has donated more than $200,000 over the last five years to worthy organizations such as American Parkinson’s Disease Association and the American Cancer Society, among many others.

Leukemia-and-Lymphoma-SocietyThe PawSox have also supported their community by hosting a number of fundraising events on non-gamedays including the Jeffrey Osborne Foundation, which benefits inner city youngsters in the Providence, Rhode Island, area. This event included an All-Star Softball Classic game held at McCoy Stadium featuring celebrities from the sports and entertainment worlds. Light the Night Leukemia Walk, held on Sept. 27, at McCoy Stadium, was another of the team’s non-gameday events. Approximately 2,000 walkers participated and raised $250,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Boy-Scouts-logo3Both the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts have benefited from the PawSox generosity to the community. For the last five years, the PawSox have hosted five events at McCoy Stadium annually and donated $10,000 each year to the Boy Scouts. The team has also hosted the Girl Scouts Project Undercover, a clothing drive for needy families in the community, collecting hundreds of new socks, underwear and diapers.

Although the PawSox are busy contributing to the community year-round, the team also supports its own employees by providing five $2,000 college scholarships to seasonal workers who are selected based on their outstanding work ethic during the season.

Naturals will host Pink in the Park on Friday, August 8

The team will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game

Northwest-Arkansas-NaturalsThe Northwest Arkansas Naturals will wear special pink jerseys on Friday, August 8 as part of Pink in the Park night presented by Farm Rich when the Naturals play host to the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, at 7:05 P.M. at Arvest Ballpark. The special pink Naturals jerseys will be available for silent auction during the game with all of the proceeds from the auction going to the Susan G. Komen Ozark Affiliate.

Susan-G.-KomenPink in the Park night represents the final jersey auction of the 2014 season. The silent auction will take place along the concourse behind Section 109. Bidding for the game-worn jerseys will begin when the gates open at 6:00 P.M. and fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys until the middle of the 6th inning when the silent auction will conclude.

Every player and coach will have a jersey available for auction. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the likes of Naturals’ Manager Vance Wilson, as well as highly touted Royals prospects such as LHP Brandon Finnegan, INF Hunter Dozier, OF Jorge Bonifacio, RHP Christian Binford, INF Cheslor Cuthbert, INF Orlando Calixte, and LHP Sam Selman. Fans with winning bids will get to go on the field following the game where they will receive their pink jersey directly from the player or coach.

In addition to Pink in the Park, Friday night will also include a post-game Fireworks Spectacular and only three (3) post-game Fireworks shows remain during the 2014 season. It is also a Scout Night Campout presented by Camping World of Northwest Arkansas where Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts are invited to come to the game for a discounted rate, receive a limited Naturals’ Scout Night Patch, enjoy a kid themed movie after the game, and campout on the outfield grass.

Greenville-DriveThe homestand concludes with Boy Scout Night at Fluor Field on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:05. All Boy Scouts and troop leaders will receive a special commemorative patch, and the Drive have many fun activities planned.

A pregame Parade of Champions for troops is scheduled for 6:30, and each troop will have its name displayed on Boyscouts_of_America-logoDriveVision during the parade. In addition, Boy Scouts and troop leaders will be involved in fun skits and games between innings, and scouts will get a chance to participate in a “Survival Training Challenge” during the game.

Following the game, Boy Scouts and their families will have the chance to campout at Fluor Field, complete with a postgame viewing of The Sandlot and a morning snack. Be sure to come to Fluor Field and help the Drive celebrate these young leaders for their accomplishments!

Scrappers Announce Return of Scout Night and Introduce Patch Design Contest

NILES OH – The Scrappers are excited to announce the return of Scout Night to Eastwood Field during the 2014 season. Both Boy and Girl Scouts are invited to register for the August 8th Scrappers Game. The Scrappers are offering a $15 Overnight Ticket Package and a $5 Game Ticket Only Package for the event.

In addition to the pregame parade, meeting the team, and the opportunity to join the team on the field for the National Anthem, the Scrappers are introducing a Patch Design Contest. Scouts of all ages who have registered for Scout Night are invited to create a patch. All patches must be 3.25 inches in diameter or smaller, and contain nine or fewer colors. Patches will be judged based on creativity, integration of baseball and the Scrappers logos, and overall esthetic appeal. Designs must be submitted by Friday, June 13, 2014.

The winning patch will be selected by the Scrappers front office and distributed to all scouts attending the 2014 Scout Night. The creator of the patch will also have the opportunity to throw out a first pitch at a 2014 Scrappers home game.

Naturals Reveal Scout Night Details for 2014 Season

Scout patch & post-game campout included in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, & Cub Scouts event

SPRINGDALE, AR – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are excited to announce that we will once again be hosting two (2) Scout Nights during our upcoming 2014 season. The first event will take place on Saturday, May 10th with the second on Friday, August 8th. Both events are proudly sponsored by Camping World of Northwest Arkansas.

An annual fan favorite, scouts and their families can attend the Naturals game for a discounted group rate and enjoy a campout in the outfield overnight for no additional cost. In addition, all scouts and leaders in attendance will receive a commemorate 2014 Naturals’ Scout Patch and a kid-friendly movie will be shown on the videoboard after the game. Previously this off-season, the Naturals held a Patch Design Contest which was won by Robert Betterton of Cub Scout Pack 110. Tickets for the game, campout, and patch are only $8 per person if reserved in advance.

For those groups wishing to participate, the Naturals encourage one parent or leader in the group to collect RSVP’s and payment from each family that would like to attend. This ensures that all members of the group will be seated together during the night of the event.
