First Summer Camp Session July 10-13
SAN JOSE, CA – Wednesday, July 10 through Saturday, July 13 the San Jose Giants will host the first of three summer camp sessions at Municipal Stadium. The session will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day and will focus on teaching and refining baseball skills for campers ages 8 through 14. The first summer camp session will feature a strong instructional staff filled with current and former collegiate baseball players. Fitness specialists from Crossfit Moxie, speed and vision trainers from Sensory Speed and nutrition personnel from Gatorade will also be on hand to coach and improve participants’ skills and health.
“I am extremely excited to get another season of San Jose Giants summer camps under way”, said Wilding. “The camps will be a great way for boys and girls alike to learn from some of the best instructors in the area and improve their abilities while having fun playing baseball.”
San Jose Giants Summer Camps are held on the field of historic Municipal Stadium, home to San Francisco Giants prospects for the past 26 seasons. During each session, players will move through hitting, throwing, catching, pitching, fielding and strength and conditioning drills to improve their level of play. On the camp’s final day, campers will have the opportunity to play an exhibition game on the field. Great Day Farms, along with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals players and coaches are teaming up for the sixth annual Youth Baseball Clinic at Arvest Ballpark, to be held from 2 until 4 P.M. on Sunday, June 30th prior to that night’s 6:00pm game against the Frisco RoughRiders.
On June 21-22, the Green Country Chevy Dealers will host a free instructional clinic at ONEOK Field for youth baseball players in the Tulsa area. Coached by the Tulsa Drillers, participants will learn the essentials of throwing, fielding and hitting.
Fluor Field will play host to Girl Scouts Night on Tuesday, June 11th, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. The festivities and celebration will begin at 6:30, so get to the ballpark early to see all Girl Scout troops in attendance participate in a pregame parade.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Fisher Cats Foundation have named their 2013 Scholar-Athlete Scholarship winners. Ten graduates from New Hampshire high schools and two from northern Massachusetts have all earned a $2,500 scholarship based on their athletic and academic achievements in high school, and will be celebrated in an on-field ceremony prior to the Fisher Cats’ game on Thursday, July 17, against the Portland Sea Dogs at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
“These students have had remarkable high schools careers, and we are proud to recognize them as our Class of 2013 scholarship winners,” said Art Solomon, Fisher Cats owner and chairman of the Fisher Cats Foundation board. “Not only have they excelled in school and on the fields and courts, but each has displayed a commitment to making their communities better places to live. We congratulate these students and look forward to recognizing them at the ballpark in July.”
STOCKTON, Calif.-Before the Ports face the Inland Empire 66ers in the final game of the three-game homestand, they will participate in the third annual Challenger Little League game starting at 5:30 p.m. Participating in the game will be Challenger little leaguers from the California District 8 Little League who play on Western Little League’s field in Stockton. The game will give all Challenger participants the chance to take some swings on the field at Banner Island, as well as interact with Ports players.
The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.
The Class-A Short-Season New York-Penn League and its member clubs are proud to announce that the league’s philanthropic arm, the NYPL Charitable Foundation, will once again award over $10,000 in scholarships this summer to deserving high school graduates from the league’s 14 markets.
