Express to Host Military Appreciation Night

E-Train to Honor All Branches of Military during Express Game

On Thursday, July 17, the Round Rock Express will honor and support the brave men and women that serve or have previously served in the United States Armed Forces by hosting Military Appreciation Night at Dell Diamond, presented by Budweiser and USAA.

There will be special military-themed promotions and recognitions throughout the evening as the E-Train takes on the Iowa Cubs. Military vehicles will be on display outside of Dell Diamond for fans to observe as they enter the stadium.

Two generations of heroes will be involved in the night’s ceremonial first pitch. A veteran of World War 2, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, Rufus Dye Jr. will be joined by his son Colonel Michael Dye. Michael currently serves in the Texas Army National Guard as the Director of Army Aviation for Joint Forces Headquarters.

Joining the Express on the field for the National Anthem are the children of troops deployed from the 3^rd Calvary Regiment out of Fort Hood. The Anthem will be performed by country music artist Jenna McDaniel.

During the game, each branch of the military – Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard – will be recognized individually along with a Marine Corps swearing-in ceremony. Silver Star recipient SSG Matthew Kinney, Gold Star Mother Tami Sims and SGT Travis King, who is scheduled to deploy in the coming weeks, will be among those honored during the game. Express players and coaches will wear commemorative patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds going to WISH for OUR HEROES. Additionally, there will be a wish granted during the game in conjunction with the Wish for Our Heroes initiative.

For the seventh-inning stretch, country music artist and songwriter Ryland Edwards will be on hand to sing “God Bless America”.

All military personnel receive half-price tickets to all Express games by presenting their military ID.

Nominate a Military Hero: Military Card Set Giveaway, 8/30

Calling all local military families, friends…nominate today!

The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are once again looking for local military veterans and active duty soldiers to salute in their second edition “Military Hero Baseball Card Set,” presented by Army ROTC and The Lowell Sun. 30 honorees will be selected to comprise the set, which will be given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance August 30.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue what we hope is an annual tradition with this special baseball card set,” said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. “Last season’s game was perhaps one of the most emotional nights at the ballpark of my baseball career, not just for the honorees, but for everyone in attendance. We can’t wait to meet this year’s honorees.”

Following the first edition of the set, given away during the 2013 season where the Spinners honored 34 local veterans and active duty servicemen and women, the promotion was so popular it was awarded a Minor League Baseball Golden Bobble Head for “Best In-Game Promotion.” In addition, over 12 other organizations have implemented a similar promotion in their community this season.

“When they say imitation is the best form of flattery, they were not lying,” said Bawmann. “To have this promotion take off to the point where other communities are doing a similar theme to honor their local servicemen and women is so great to see.”

The non-traditional baseball card set will feature men and women from throughout the Merrimack Valley who have served our country. The 30 card set will be given away to the first 1,000 fans through the gate Saturday, August 30 with the families and heroes themselves in attendance.

“As we learned last year, the hardest part of the process is whittling the set down to 30 honorees,” said Bawmann. “There are so many heroes out there which is why we are so happy to have this as an annual promotion.”

The Spinners are calling on people throughout the Merrimack Valley to nominate their friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. Nominations can be made at www.lowellspinners.com/militaryhero now through Tuesday, August 12 and the “roster” will be released shortly thereafter.

David Beasley to receive the state’s highest honor for community service

Lowcountry resident David Beasley will be honored with South Carolina’s highest award for community service — the Order of the Silver Crescent — prior to the Charleston RiverDogs‘ Military Appreciation Night game against the Augusta GreenJackets on Saturday, July 19, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Beasley is being recognized for his long-time volunteer work with the American Red Cross as a platelet donor and for his involvement in other community activities that include the Adopt-a-Beach Program, the Historic Charleston Foundation, and the Riverland Terrace Neighborhood Association.

“The Charleston RiverDogs and Riley Park are proud to serve as the site for this special presentation to a worthy individual,” said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. “Mr. Beasley wanted to have the presentation at our Military Appreciation Night game because he wanted to share his honor with all the other reservists who put their civilian lives on hold to answer the nation’s call for help.”

State Senator Paul Thurmond will be presenting the award on behalf of Governor Nikki Haley on the field around 5:40 pm and prior to the game that begins at 6:05.

Beasley is a retired Coast Guard Reserve chief warrant officer who was mobilized three times after 9/11.

The Order of the Silver Crescent is awarded to residents of South Carolina for exemplary performance, contribution and achievement within the community. It is the state’s highest award for volunteer and/or community service.

HOPE Week Headlines Seven-Game Homestand

July 19 Includes Military Appreciation Night, Bill Veeck Bobble-Leg, Modern Sequel of Disco Demolition Night

The Charleston RiverDogs are back at home for a seven-game homestand from Tuesday, July 15 through Monday, July 21. HOPE Week 2014, an annual New York Yankees outreach initiative, runs through the first five days of this homestand. Saturday, July 19 will be full of fun as the RiverDogs will host Disco Demolition 2: You Better Belieb It along with Military Appreciation Night and a Bill Veeck Bobble-Leg Giveaway.

Tuesday, July 15, 7:05 pm: HOPE Week 2014 begins as the RiverDogs partner with Warriors 4 Warriors. It is Harris Teeter 2-for-$20 Date Night, presented by Nash FM. Couples that show a VIC Card at the box office will receive two tickets to the game, two tacos, two fountain drinks and a nacho tray for just $20. It is also Choose Your Knight Night. Upon entering the ballpark, fans can choose one of three colored cards which correspond with three knights that will compete throughout the night in various contests. The knight with the most total points will be the winner, and fans who selected that color may turn in their card to receive a ticket voucher for an upcoming RiverDogs game.

Wednesday, July 16, 7:05 pm: Day Two of HOPE Week 2014 features South Carolina Youth Advocate Program. HealthSouth Senior Wednesday, sponsored by MeTV, offers a food voucher for all senior citizens (age 65 & older) who enter the park before 7 pm. The voucher is good for a free hot dog, a bag of chips and a 16-ounce fountain drink. The RiverDogs are also hosting “Dogs with a Cause” to support The Spokes Group Charleston. It is also a Guaranteed Wins-Day, so if the RiverDogs are not victorious, all fans in attendance may use their tickets to get into the next Wednesday home game for free.

Thursday, July 17, 7:05 pm: HOPE Week 2014 continues with Lowcountry Food Bank’s Food Works Program. It is also Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, courtesy of 95SX, with $1 drafts and DJ Natty Heavy in the Ashley View Pub. Wild Wing Café will also sponsor a wing-eating contest in the Ashley View Pub. The RiverDogs are also continuing their Thursday concert series, which is presented by Palmetto Brewery and Awendaw Green. Cheap Hats and Bourbon, an acoustic band that plays covers and original songs, will be playing adjacent to the Beer Garden.

Friday, July 18, 7:05 pm: The RiverDogs will partner with Mighty Mack and Scout on Day Four of HOPE Week 2014. ISHPI Red Shirt Friday, presented by 103.5 WEZL, encourages fans to wear red to the game and save $1 off your ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to Canines for Veterans and Folds of Honor. United States Air Force Night will be celebrated as well. There will be a pregame awards ceremony for the annual Youth Baseball Camp, which is presented by The Kickin’ Chicken. The RiverDogs will wear red jerseys on Friday and will receive help from Titus the Wonder Dog, who will serve as a batdog for an inning. Miller and Coors present $3 Aluminum Pint Night in the Ashley View Pub. Stick around following the contest for another stellar fireworks display over the scenic Ashley River.

Saturday, July 19, 6:05 pm: HOPE Week 2014 wraps up, featuring Fields to Families. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Bill Veeck Bobble-Leg from WCBD Channel 2. In honor of Military Appreciation Night, presented by ISHPI, all active and retired military members and their immediate families can get into the game for free. The RiverDogs are also hosting Disco Demolition 2: You Better Belieb It. Fans that bring Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus merchandise and memorabilia will get a $1 ticket. All of the donated items will be destroyed in a postgame demolition on the field. Social Media Saturday invites fans to use Facebook and Twitter to send the RiverDogs requests for songs, promotions and other ballpark features. It is also West Ashley Night at The Joe. Barefoot Night includes a Barefoot wine sampling around the Beer Garden.

Sunday, July 20, 5:05 pm: CCPRC and Crews Subaru Kids Club Sunday, sponsored by Y102.5, offers free admission for all members of Charlie’s Kids Club. Parking is free, and all children will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, a fountain drink and chips for Kids Eat Free from Pepsi. Pirates and Princesses Night is also set for Sunday. Children can make their own crown and treasure at the game while pirates from Blackbeard’s Cove roam the ballpark. An ice princess pregame meet and greet and Disney gift card giveaways are also scheduled. All fans can enjoy pregame catch on the field and postgame autographs with the RiverDogs. Patriots Point and its mascot, Scrappy, will be on hand for Sunday’s game as well. Charleston will wear its stylish seersucker uniforms on Seersucker Sunday. Fans that wear seersucker to the game can save $1 off their ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to the Preservation Society of Charleston and the Historic Charleston Foundation. Celebrity “Smokin’ Chef” Aaron Siegel from Home Team BBQ will serve smoked pork belly pastrami with pickled local slaw and smoked Poblano mustard on a brioche bun at the RiverDogs’ new meat smoker.

Monday, July 21, 12:05 pm: The homestand closes with a special 12:05 pm start time, setting up the Business-Man’s Special and Service Industry Day. Play hooky from work or ask the RiverDogs to send an intern to your business and cover your shift so you can come to the contest. The Business-Man’s Special offers $7 upper reserve tickets. Members of the service industry will be rewarded for their hospitality with $5 general admission tickets for Monday’s matinee. Coors and Magic 107.3 present Dollar Dogs and Beers Night in the Ashley View Pub. There will also be an Old Mexico DVD Giveaway at the homestand finale.

Saluted: Power and WVAW honor heroes

Invitation to local responders with free tickets to July 18 game

The West Virginia Power, a Class-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are pleased to announce a partnership with West Virginia American Water to welcome “Hometown Heroes” to Appalachian Power Park for free on July 18, 2014. The Power will host the Rome Braves at 7:05 pm and West Virginia American Water will provide free tickets for members of the military, firefighters, law enforcement and other first responders.

“Our employees are our heroes, and we are planning a special night for them and their families at the ballpark on July 18,” said Jeff McIntyre, president of West Virginia American Water. “However, we also wish to thank the many other ‘hometown heroes’ – our military members, firefighters, law enforcement, and other emergency responders – for their ongoing dedication and service to the community and for their tireless efforts as they worked alongside our employees in response to the Freedom Industries spill earlier this year.”

Civil servants in these or other related fields must reserve these complimentary tickets in advance by calling the West Virginia Power box office at 304-344-2287. At the time of pick-up, identification noting civil service affiliation will be required. Each civil servant is eligible to receive up to four tickets courtesy of West Virginia American Water. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show.

“We are happy to work with West Virginia American Water on an event like this,” stated Power general manager Tim Mueller. “There are so many individuals that are vital to day-to-day life and to invite them to the park was a tremendous idea. This is just one way that we can help (WVAM) thank them for all that they do.”

Heroes & Legends Softball Game in Lakewood October 10th

The BlueClaws will host a Heroes & Legends Charity Softball Game at FirstEnergy Park on Friday, October 10th.

Heroes and Legends is an organization dedicated to supporting veterans rehabilitative sports programs while assisting a wide network of military-based charities.

John “The Count” Montefusco– Former SF Giant & NY Yankee who was the NL Rookie of the Year in 1975 and threw a no-hitter in 1976

Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds, and a member of the 1998 Toms River East Little League World Series Championship team, and Frankie Edgar, Toms River native and former UFC Champion, will also make appearances at the event.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Sanctuary Island, a non-profit organization that serves Wounded Warriors and other disabled to enhance health, literacy, life experience, and self esteem.

The BlueClaws are the Jersey Shore’s top stop for affordable, family entertainment. They have led the South Atlantic League and New Jersey in attendance in all 13 years of existence.

Quilting for Veterans donates 60 quilts

Raises $1,260 for local Veterans

Sixty quilts and $1,260 was presented to Don Tyne and Linn County Veterans Affairs as part of Quilts to honor Vets in an on-field ceremony before the Kernels game with Beloit on July 5^th.

The project began on March 8^th as local quilters, organized by Connie Moyer and Connie’s Quilt Shop in Marion, began making quilts at Veterans Memorial Stadium, with 60 quilts produced by June 2nd. Also, a special quilt was made that was raffled off at the July 5^th game, and $1,260 was raised for Linn County Veterans Affairs through the quilt raffle.

The quilts will be given to local veterans in need through Linn County Veterans Affairs and events like Stand Down for Veterans.

“It was my honor to represent all of the quilters who spent their time and talents to make the 60 quilts that were given to Don Tyne to be distributed to local veterans as our way of saying thank you for their service to our country.”, said event organizer Connie Moyer of Connie’s Quilt Shop.

The Kernels begin a three game home stand tonight against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm. The current home stand continues through Thursday, July 10^th.

Pulaski Mariners Host Danville on Military Appreciation Night

Wednesday night the Pulaski Mariners return to Historic Calfee Park following a four night road trip. The game against the Danville Braves will be Military Family Appreciation Night at the Ballpark sponsored by the Military Family Support Center, the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, and Virginia Eagle Distributing.

Admission to the park is free for all active, retired, or veteran members of the military and their family. In addition, one hot dog, one drink, and one bag of chips will be provided. Families are encouraged to register for tickets by calling either the Military Family Support Center at 540-4000-8301 or the Pulaski Mariners at 540-980-1070.

Wednesday is the first opportunity for Mariner fans to watch the East Division leading Danville Braves as they do battle with Pulaski Mariner stars like Wayne Taylor, Carlton Tanabe, and Jay Baum.

RailRiders Announce HOPE Week Activities

Week-Long Festivities Commence Sunday, July 6

What began as an ode to the parent club and the community has turned into an annual tradition in NEPA. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) are proud to announce that beginning on Sunday, July 6 the RailRiders will join the New York Yankees in support of HOPE (Helping Others Persevere and Excel) Week 2014, a unique week-long communal program that brings to light extraordinary stories intended to inspire individuals into action in their own communities.

Initiated in 2009 and now in its fifth campaign in NEPA, HOPE Week is rooted in the fundamental belief that acts of goodwill provide hope and encouragement to more than just the recipient of the gesture. Each day from Sunday, July 6 through Friday, July 11 members of the RailRiders front office staff or club will reach out personally to connect with an organization, cause or individual. 2014 marks the third straight year that each of the Yankees’ six U.S.-based affiliates will participate in the program, making the initiative one that the entire organization proudly stands behind.

HOPE Week begins with the RailRiders’ annual food drive on Sunday, July 6. Patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the 7:05 p.m. contest against the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox) in exchange for one lawn seat in the NEPA Honda Homer Zone. SWB has partnered with the Voluntary Action Center which will distribute the collected items to agencies and food pantries around the region. The RailRiders will respond by honoring Voluntary Action Center’s ‘Volunteers of the Year’ with a pre-game ceremony on the field.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre coaches, players and front office staff will trek to the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton on Monday, July 7 to participate in a full day of inspiring visits. The RailRiders will visit residents in their rooms and see who has the best stuff in some games of Wii baseball. The visit includes a social filled with baseball-themed snacks.

Fortune favors the bald? We will find out on Tuesday, July 8 when the RailRiders join the Vs. Cancer Foundation with a night at PNC Field committed to raising money for childhood cancer research. Half of the funds raised will be donated to the National Childhood Cancer Research Foundation and the other half will be donated locally. RailRiders players and front office staff will shave their heads during and after the game to help raise awareness. A number of names are scheduled to participate including RHP Danny Burawa, SHP Pat Venditte, C Francisco Arcia and team president/GM Rob Crain. The RailRiders have set a team goal of $10,000 for the event.

On Wednesday, July 9, Children’s Miracle Network kids and their families will journey into the RailRiders’ home clubhouse for a personal meet-and-greet with players before the game.

The RailRiders head to the NEPA Boys and Girls Club on Thursday, July 10. SWB has partnered with Combined Forces Mobile Laser Tag for the fun and excitement of laser tag. The event includes inflatable barricades, walls and laser guns. RailRiders’ players and staff will participate in the team sport with club members from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.

The big league baseball dream propels the RailRiders each day. On Friday, July 11, the RailRiders will seek to help dreams of a different variety. HOPE Week concludes with Princess and Pirate Night at PNC Field as the RailRiders partner with the Make-A-Wish foundation to honor two deserving kids. Limos, along with staff dressed in their best princess and pirate attire, will escort the two honorees to PNC Field for special on-field recognition and ceremonial first pitches. Each child will receive a complimentary princess and pirate costume and promotional package.

HOPE Week is just a part of the RailRiders’ community outreach this season, and the RailRiders look forward to continuing their involvement both during and after HOPE Week. USO and Upstate Warrior Solution on hand to support the military; Fireworks to follow the game

As part of an exciting kickoff to the Fourth of July weekend, the Drive are proud to honor both current and retired members of the military as they host Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday, July 1^st at Fluor Field. The game between the Drive and Asheville Tourists begins at 7:05.

USO will be on hand to show their support for all military members in attendance. USO is a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individuals and other organizations to perform their mission of lifting the morale of America’s troops and their families. They will have an enter-to-win table on the concourse for a pair of Stars and Stripes hats signed by Drive players.

Fluor and Duke Energy, a pair of Drive partners, will also be on hand to support military members all game long.

Before the game, fans will get a chance to see parachute jumpers enter the stadium, and children of military members will participate in the “Field of Dreams” and take the field with Drive players.

During the game, the Drive and Upstate Warrior Solution will present Purple Hearts and Navy Commendation Medals on the field in between innings. Upstate Warrior Solution is a community-based nonprofit organization in the Upstate that connects warriors and their families to the resources they need in their lives.

Everyday Heroes Night on July 3rd

On Thursday, July 3rd the Tampa Yankees will host Everyday Heroes Night at George M. Steinbrenner Field to honor all those who work to keep our nation safe as they play the Lakeland Flying Tigers at 7:00 pm. The gates open at 5:00pm to all fans.

All active & retired Military, EMT Specialists, Firefighters & Police Officers will receive FREE ADMISSION if they show up with a valid I.D.

In honor of Everyday Heroes Night, each of the players will wear a customized jersey, which will be auctioned off during the game in a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Everyday Heroes non-profit organization and each purchaser will have the opportunity to have their jersey signed and meet the player it was worn by.

Before the game, fans will enjoy a Food Truck Rally with Tasty Stacy, PAO Truck, Kona Ice, Hot Mess, Disco Donuts, Sarges BBQ, PaniniRiffic and Escomo.

Everyday Heroes Night, lands on a Thursday and you know what that means…Throwback Thursday! Instead of paying $6 for reserved seating or $ 4 for general admission, fans will be able to purchase tickets like it’s 1994. Reserved seating will only cost $2 and general admission will be just $1. Timber Rattlers host Military Appreciation Series July 1-3

Players and coaches to wear military-themed jerseys during three game set

The Timber Rattlers and American National Bank present a Military Appreciation Series from July 1 through July 3.

The three games between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Cedar Rapids Kernels at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium from Tuesday, July 1 through Thursday, July 3 will have a distinctly military feel to them. The Timber Rattlers and American National Bank prepare you for your Independence Day celebrations with a Military Appreciation Series.

Timber Rattlers players and coaches will wear jerseys with a military camouflage design during all three games of the series. Each of the jerseys will have a different military motto where the player name usually goes. The players and coaches will also wear patriotic caps during the series.

There will be a silent auction for both the jerseys and the hats with proceeds to benefit the Fox Valley Veterans Council Emergency Fund. The silent auction will begin at 5:30pm on July 1 and conclude at the end of the seventh inning of the game on July 3. Fans may phone in bids for the military-themed jerseys by calling (800) WI-TIMBER or (920) 733-4152 from 9:00am to 2:00pm on July 2 and July 3. Bids for the silent auction on the hats must be made in person during the games.

The Timber Rattlers are offering a free reserved bleacher seat to all active, reserve, and retired military personnel for all three games of this series. Please bring a valid military ID or form DD-214 to the box office to receive free admission to these games. Friends and family of the person receiving the free ticket may purchase additional reserved bleacher seat tickets at a discounted rate of $7.00 per ticket.

Additionally, Boxkar will be performing a free concert outside the stadium before the game on Wednesday, July 2.

All three games of the series are scheduled to begin at 7:05pm and the regular weekly promotions will be offered on their respective nights. These promotions include the Baker Tilly Business Person Special from WVBO and WNAM on Tuesday; WIXX Bang for Your Buck on Wednesday; and Arty’s Old Fashioned Drinks Thirsty Thursday presented by 95.9 KISS-FM.

American National Bank and the Timber Rattlers will also be giving away a Jim Henderson bobblehead on Tuesday, July 1. The first 1,000 fans to enter the stadium on that date will receive a bobblehead of Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jim Henderson, the Timber Rattlers closer in 2009.

There will also be a special Thursday night fireworks display on July 3, the final game of the series and of the homestand.

The free ticket offer for military personnel is only available in person at the Box Office. The Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium Box Office is open from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 3:00pm.

Fort Wayne Military Members Celebrated at The Principal® Financial Dreams Tour

Come to Parkview Field July 14 for a Night to Remember

The Principal Financial Group^® and the TinCaps will honor members of the military and the outstanding contributions they make to our country and communities during the 2014 Principal^® Financial Dreams Tour on July 14 when Fort Wayne hosts South Bend at 7:05 p.m. The Tour will make 18 stops from coast-to-coast and will provide attendees with information to help them plan for a brighter financial future for themselves and their families.

The July 14 game will feature postgame fireworks presented by The Principal and is a U.S. Foods Family Feast night. TinCaps fans also will have the opportunity to meet major league legend Bill Buckner for an autograph and photo at the Principal Dreams Tour autograph table. Buckner spent 22 years in the Majors from 1969 through 1990, accumulating nearly 3,000 hits. He played for six teams during his career, including the Cubs, with whom he won the 1980 National League batting title.

Since 2004, The Principal^® has brought more than 450 events to minor league ballparks, attracting nearly two million fans. Past tours have given fans the chance to meet some of baseball’s biggest stars, including Steve Garvey, Dave Stewart, Tommy John, Rollie Fingers and Lee Smith, among others.

Additionally, at the Dreams Tour event, The Principal will make a $1,000 contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project veteran’s charity supporting veterans employment programs.

P-Nats Military Night Auction To Benefit Wounded Warriors

The Potomac Nationals are turning Military Appreciation Night into a “can’t miss” event on Sunday, June 22^nd. In addition to honoring all military members, along with appearances by former Redskin Dexter Manley and Congressman Rob Wittman, the P-Nats will hold a silent auction during the game with dozens of iconic baseball memorabilia items thanks to Reality Realty and Mammoth Global Partners.

The centerpiece of the items is a Stephen Strasburg autographed inaugural game ticket collage, which will be raffled off for free for all military attendees. Other coveted items available for bid by the general public will be a Cal Ripken Jr. autographed bat and a signed Willie Mays photo and baseball. All of the money raised in the auction will go to Arms Outstretched Ministries benefitting the wounded warriors of Bethesda and Belvoir.

Phanatic, Military Appreciation Night June 19th

First of two Phanatic visits this year

The BlueClaws welcome the Phillie Phanatic to FirstEnergy Park on Thursday, June 19th, and at the game, they will hold their annual Troop Supply and Care Package Drive.

The Phanatic, the world’s most famous mascot, makes the first of two trips to the ballpark this summer and between innings, he will entertain fans like only he can. The Phanatic’s appearance is presented by OceanFirst Bank.

Boxes will be set up for the Troop Supply and Care Package Drive in the front of the ballpark and fans are encouraged to donate razors, snacks, baby wipes, shampoo, soap, non-chocolate candies and sweets, sun block with SPF 40+, lip balm, writing utensils, silly string, deodorant, tissues, q-tips, white socks, batteries, insect repellent, and flashlights.

The BlueClaws will also be collecting, as always, gently used cell phones at the NJNG Information Booth to benefit Cell Phones for Soldiers.

This supply and care package drive is in conjunction with the Monmouth-Ocean Central Labor Council Military Committee, Monmouth-Ocean Building Trade Council, National Guard, Toms River Armory, A.R.M.S, and IBEW Local 400 Military Committee.

“Military Appreciation Night here in Lakewood has been a great event these last nine years,” said Pat O’Keefe of the IBEW Local 400 Military Committee. “It’s great to see the local community come out and support the event and our Troops overseas.”

The Troop Supply and Care Package Drive takes place on Military Appreciation Night, where military groups will take in the game and there will be various pre-game ceremonies honoring military members.
