TRIBE TO CELEBRATE ARMED FORCES MAY 16

On May 16, Armed Forces Day, fans in attendance for the Indianapolis Indians vs. Norfolk Tides baseball game, will be treated to several unique experiences including Tribe players donning camouflage jerseys, a postgame fireworks show, and the opportunity to support advance education opportunities for Indiana National Guard members.

Using Qtego Auction Technology and via one’s mobile phone, Indians fans will be able to bid on the jerseys worn by the players and coaches via a special auction. Proceeds will help fund WGU Indiana scholarships for Indiana National Guard members.

Once registered, Qtego’s service instantly informs participants of the current high bid on an item of interest or notifies they have been outbid.

“This is a fun, unique way for all Indians fans everywhere, both at Victory Field or not, to connect with our players while supporting education opportunities for Hoosier soldiers,” said Indians Senior Marketing and Communications Manager Jon Glesing.

Once fans arrive on Saturday, they may register their mobile phone at the Qtego display in Victory Field’s PNC Plaza, or online at IndyIndians.com in advance. Once registered, one can participate in the auction immediately. Information, including the list of Indians players and coaches whose jerseys will be up for auction, will be posted on the team’s blog prior to the start of the game. Victory Field gates open at 5 p.m. with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.

Armed Forces Day is a national day of observance in the United States on the third Saturday of May each year. Indiana currently has 16,000 active duty National Guard members. Recognition for their service on Saturday will continue after the game with a special fireworks show courtesy of the Indiana National Guard and WGU Indiana.

“This is a day to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country,” Brigadier General Corey Carr said. “We honor the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen who have given their lives for the cause of freedom and American ideals. The Indiana National Guard is grateful to Hoosiers and Americans everywhere for their continued support over the past decade of war and for taking the time to honor Indiana’s fallen heroes this Armed Forces Day. We recognize and appreciate the patriotism and support of the Indianapolis Indians and WGU Indiana as they wear ACU (Army Combat Uniform) jerseys to raise scholarship funds for Hoosier Soldiers and their families.”

Box office hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and in the Hot Corner Gift Shop Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fans save $2 when they purchase at least a day in advance.

Salute our veterans on Saturday, May 23

On Saturday, May 23, the Toledo Mud Hens will be paying tribute to those who have served our nation, during Veterans Appreciation Night at Fifth Third Field, presented by Owens Community College. It’s a night to honor all current and former military and service personnel.

There will be special pregame ceremonies, recognition of all veterans in attendance throughout the game, and discounted ticket opportunities are available for all military personnel, family and friends. (Tickets must be pre-ordered to take advantage of the special rate).

Mud Hens players and coaches will be wearing Camouflage theme night jerseys, which will be auctioned off during a silent auction. Look for our table on the main concourse in Section 114. Bids will be accepted through the sixth inning of the game. Proceeds will benefit the Toledo VA Clinic and Helping Hens Charities.

Fans to literally Paint the Park Pink on Aug. 2

The State College Spikes’ annual Paint the Park Pink event, presented by Mount Nittany Health, will take on a whole new dimension in 2015. Fans will be offered the opportunity to literally “Paint the Park Pink” to help the fight against breast cancer on Sunday, August 2 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

For the first time, fans that make a donation to the Breast Care Center at Mount Nittany Medical Center through The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center will have the chance to paint designated areas of the ballpark pink to honor those who have fought and those who continue to fight breast cancer. The event will take place during the Spikes’ 6:05 p.m. game against the Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox).

In addition to painting the ballpark pink, fans can bid on the special Pink Camouflage Jerseys the Spikes will be wearing to benefit The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center. The Jersey-off-the-Back Auction will take place during the night, with all winners receiving their jerseys immediately after the game.

Plus, there will numerous other ways for fans to donate to the fight against breast cancer throughout the night, including special pink balloons, a 50/50 drawing, and more.

“Paint the Park Pink has always been one of our most popular and impactful promotions throughout the past nine seasons,” said Spikes General Manager Scott Walker. “We have been privileged to be able to partner with Mount Nittany Health to raise over $60,000 for the fight against breast cancer. This year, our fans can not only continue to help that fight, but leave an indelible mark on the ballpark that will last more than just one night.”

The fun of Paint the Park Pink Night also includes a Replica Pink Camouflage Jersey Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans of all ages, presented by Mount Nittany Health, and a fantastic post-game FIREWORKS show to close the evening.

Salem Red Sox Make Record Donation to Susan G. Komen

Annual Pink in the Park weekend proceeds donated to charity

SALEM, Va. – The Salem Red Sox are pleased to announce that a record donation will be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure as a result of the extremely successful Pink in the Park Weekend.

This year, the Red Sox will be donating $4,652.27 to the non-profit organization. This amount comes from two silent auctions: Saturday night’s pink jerseys and Sunday’s pink bats. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from pink paraphernalia that was sold at the park this past weekend was included.

This year’s donation is the largest the Salem Red Sox have made in the eight-year history of the Pink in the Park series. Over the previous seven years, the Red Sox have donated $21,000 to the organization.

Mudcats Present Strikeout Cancer Weekend

Online jersey auction to be held in support of local charities

ZEBULON, NC – The Carolina Mudcats, the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and member of the historic Carolina League, proudly present “Strikeout Cancer Weekend” at Five County Stadium. This special three day long event will take place May 15, 16 and 17 when the Mudcats play the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

“Strikeout Cancer Weekend” is designed to raise awareness and help in the fight against cancer. It is also designed to help raise funds for local cancer fighting charities.

Mudcats players will wear specially designed jerseys for all three games in the series. Those game worn jerseys will then be made available to fans through a special online auction that will be launched on www.carolinamudcats.com.

All of the proceeds from the jersey auction will be donated to local cancer fighting charities including the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the Vs. Cancer Foundation and Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund will be the official charity for Friday’s May 15 game in Zebulon at 7:00 p.m. Fans wishing to attend the game and support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund can purchase specially priced tickets through the Mudcats front office. A portion of those ticket sales will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Contact Yogi Brewington or Aaron Freeman in the Mudcats front office for more information at (919) 269-2287.

Saturday’s 6:00 p.m. game with the Pelicans will benefit the Vs. Cancer Foundation. The Vs. Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving kids’ lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts.

The special weekend concludes on Sunday, May 17 with first pitch at 2:00 p.m. Sunday’s game will benefit Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure. The Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure foundation seeks to save lives by increasing awareness of prostate cancer and the life-saving value of early detection while providing education and information about cutting-edge research to reduce risk, detect, and treat prostate cancer.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne TinCaps are proud to partner with the OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc. to welcome military personnel to Parkview Field for Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday, May 26, when the TinCaps host the Great Lakes Loons in a doubleheader starting at 6:05 p.m.

Through the generosity of the OmniSource Corporation and Steel Dynamics Inc., the TinCaps, and caring individual donors, complimentary tickets are currently available for military families, both active and veteran, to enjoy that night’s games.

9th Annual Swing for a Cure Slated for May 23rd

The Hillcats will have everyone wearing pink on Saturday, May 23rd with the 9th Annual “Swing For A Cure” Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Centra’s Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center! Proceeds from this event will benefit the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation.

General admission tickets for the 6:30pm game against the Frederick Keys will be $11, with a portion of each ticket being donated to the fight against cancer. On Sunday, July 19th the Brooklyn Cyclones will wear special jerseys as they celebrate Relay for Life Day at MCU Park.  The jerseys will feature a purple ribbon with the names of those affected by cancer written on each jersey.  If you have a loved one you would like to feature on the jersey, you can make a $75 donation to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.  There is space for 75 names, so act quickly.

Strike Out Cancer Night

Tampa, Fla. – The Tampa Yankees plan to Strike Out Cancer Saturday, June 6th, when they take on the Clearwater Threshers at 6:00PM. The gates at Steinbrenner Field will open promptly at 5:00PM. The night is sponsored by BayCare.

The Tampa Yankees players and coaches will be wearing custom made Strike Out Cancer jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. Proceeds from the auction will benefit BayCare. The Tampa Yankees hope to encourage cancer awareness in the bay area, and to contribute as much as possible to cancer research and treatment.

Fans are invited to come out to Steinbrenner Field early and enjoy a food truck Rally before the game. Trucks participating include Sarges BBQ, Disco Donuts, Kona Ice, Enjoi Sweets, PaniniRiffic, and Street Surfer. The first 500 fans to enter the stadium will receive a BayCare water bottle. To close out the night, there will be a fireworks display after the game sponsored by Sonny’s BBQ.

Strike Out Cancer Night is also a Friends and Family Saturday Sponsored by Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo. Fans can purchase Family-4-Packs which include four reserved tickets to the game, four hot dogs, four bags of chips, four sodas, four Tampa Yankees ball caps, and two passes to Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo for just $38. Pitch for the Cure Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Spokane, WA – The Spokane Indians are excited to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Pitch for the Cure Breast Cancer Walk, presented by Mike’s Hard Lemonade, this August! Click here to register!

Sunday, August 2nd, at Avista Stadium, will mark the tenth anniversary of this fun summer event. The short one-mile walk around Avista Stadium in support for Breast Cancer finishes with participants being recognized on the field during a special ceremony before the 3:30pm game. Indians players will wear pink jerseys and hats – to be auctioned – in the game against the Eugene Emeralds. The Susan G. Komen Eastern Washington affiliate will once again be the primary beneficiary of the day’s festivities.

“This is the tenth anniversary of the Pitch for the Cure – that’s an entire decade of raising awareness in the Spokane community…it’s fantastic,” said Randy Schwaegler, President of Komen’s Eastern Washington affiliate Board. “The event keeps growing every year, and the support is non-stop. This is why we come out every year – to give those who fight another reason for tomorrow.”

The cost for the walk is $25 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under. Participants will receive a special edition 10th anniversary T-shirt, a donation in their name to the Susan G. Komen Eastern Washington affiliate, and a ticket to the Spokane Indians baseball game that afternoon.

Last year, the Spokane Indians donated a total of $9,000 to the Susan G. Komen Eastern Washington affiliate. In the ten year partnership, the Spokane Indians have donated over $40,000 to the Komen Foundation. Seventy-five percent of all funds donated to the Susan G. Komen Eastern Washington affiliate stays local and is given back to help those with breast cancer in Eastern Washington.

Deadline for early registration is Friday, July 17th, with a late fee of $5 after this date. Participants have until the day of event to sign-up. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, July 31st from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Spokane Indians Team Store located at Avista Stadium (602 N. Havana) and the day of the walk starting at 2:30 PM at Avista Stadium.

Pelicans announce Military Appreciation Day

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (APRIL 30, 2015) – In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, are pleased to announce Military Appreciation Day. The event, presented by Embrace Hospice, Hot Talk 99.5 FM, and Wave 104.1 FM, will take place on May 14 when the Pelicans host the Carolina Mudcats for a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Gates to the ballpark will open at 5:30 p.m. ET to accommodate fans for the numerous pregame festivities.

The uniformed men and women from those cards will be represented that night, either by being in attendance themselves, or by members of their family.

The night will also have pre-game festivities aplenty. The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., Chapter 925 will hand out 5,000 miniature American flags to fans at the gates and will also honor the Pelicans franchise as a Purple Heart supporter team. There will be a pre-game colors dedication, as well as a ceremony held around the Missing Man Table. The veterans being honored on the card set will be introduced individually before the first pitch, and to wrap up the pre-game ceremonies, a paratrooper will parachute into TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark while holding an American flag.

Embrace Hospice joined the Pelicans as a partner in 2014 with “Embrace a Veteran,” one of the most popular programs from that season, in which veterans were asked to stand up at every home game and be recognized. Saturdays became Embrace Veterans Saturdays, where select Grand Strand veterans were highlighted and honored, and their stories were told in person and on the video board. A veteran and Embrace Hospice employee threw out a first pitch at these games as well.

Katelyn Guild, Pelicans Director of Business Development, pursued the expansion of Military Appreciation events after a positive reception last season.

“The game of baseball has incredible roots connected with the U.S. military, and we are thrilled whenever we can grow and diversify the way that we honor our veterans-especially our local ones,” Guild said. “Embrace Hospice agrees, and they were excited to partner with us on this as well.”

For Embrace Hospice, the cause is an important one, but also a personal one.

“Many of us are veterans ourselves, so this has an extra special meaning to us and the many veterans we employ,” said Kevin McHugh, CEO of Embrace Hospice. “Our veterans are one of this country’s greatest accomplishments. What they have done for our freedom makes going to a ballgame an everyday thing for Americans. We hope the community joins us once again this year at Pelicans ballgames to say thank you and to ‘Embrace a Veteran’.”

In addition to the card set and year-long program, the Pelicans have dedicated an empty seat at the ballpark, located near the Clark and Addison Grille and Hops Heaven. The seats remains unoccupied in honor of lost prisoners of war (POW) and service members who are pronounced missing in action (MIA).

Information on Embrace Hospice will be available on the main concourse at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark for each Embrace Saturday all year long. The dates for the remaining Embrace Veterans Saturdays in 2015 are as follows: May 23; June 6, 13, 20; July 11, 25; August 8, 15, 29.

Bees to Host 9th Annual ‘Pack the Park Pink’ Night

Team to Help Raise Breast Cancer Awareness on May 9

SALT LAKE CITY (April 28, 2015) – The Salt Lake Bees will host their ninth annual “Pack the Park Pink Night” at Smith’s Ballpark on Saturday, May 9 in collaboration with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) and Swing for Life, in an effort to raise funds for breast cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute. This night is part of the club’s year-round community outreach initiatives that support health and wellness, education and youth development.

“Huntsman Cancer Foundation is very grateful to the Bees organization and Miller Sports Properties,” said George Mathis, Development Officer at Huntsman Cancer Foundation. “We are honored to invite the community to be a part of Huntsman Cancer Institute’s efforts to eradicate cancer. What could be better than a night at the beautiful ballpark with your family while supporting cancer research?”

Fans attending the Bees game will be encouraged to help “Pack the Park Pink” by wearing the color pink and anyone wearing pink can go to the box office the day of the game to receive a $3 discount on tickets. During the game, Swing for Life will have pink t-shirts available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting HCF.

The team will be wearing commemorative caps featuring a pink Bees logo and jerseys with pink lettering, which will be auctioned off in a silent auction. The highest bidders will have the opportunity to meet Bees players on the field after the game for photograph opportunities while collecting their player-autographed jerseys. All of the proceeds from the auction will benefit cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

One dollar from all ticket sales for that night’s game will go to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Tickets can be purchased at Smith’s Ballpark box office, at all Smith’sTix outlets and Smith’s Food & Drug Stores, by phone at 801-325-BEES (2337) or online at www.slbees.com, with no additional fees.

Gates open at 5:35 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. against the Reno Aces. The first 2,000 fans attending that night’s game will receive a free pink shirt and there will be a fireworks show at the conclusion of the game.

Kay Yow Cancer Fund to join Mudcats for “Strikeout Cancer Weekend”

ZEBULON, NC – The Carolina Mudcats, the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and member of the historic Carolina League, are proud to announce the Kay Yow Cancer Fund as an official partner of the “Strikeout Cancer Weekend” event being held at Five County Stadium on May 15, 16 and 17 when the Mudcats play the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund will be the official charity for Friday’s May 15 game in Zebulon at 7:00 p.m. Fans wishing to attend the game and support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund can purchase specially priced tickets through the Mudcats front office. A portion of those ticket sales will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Contact Yogi Brewington or Aaron Freeman in the Mudcats front office for more information at (919) 269-2287.

Additionally, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund will be on hand at Friday’s game (May 15) with an information booth available for fans. Representatives from the Kay Yow Cancer Fund will also participate in pregame on field ceremonies.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Mudcats also plan on honoring cancer survivors before the game with a unique on field ceremony. Fans hoping to participate, or wishing to nominate a friend or relative for participation in the ceremony should contact Mr. Brewington or Mr. Freeman at (919) 269-2287.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on December 3, 2007, from the vision of the organization’s namesake Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach.

Kay Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. Before her death, she joined forces with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research to form the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.

“Strikeout Cancer Weekend” at Five County stadium will take place May 15, 16 and 17 when the Mudcats play the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. All of the proceeds from the jersey auction will be donated to local cancer-fighting charities including the “Kay Yow Cancer Fund,” the “Vs. Cancer Foundation” and “Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure.”

The Carolina Mudcats are the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. The 2015 “Braves New World” season is the first for the Mudcats as an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and their fourth straight in the historic Carolina League. 4th Annual Paint the Park Purple Night is May 1st

The Lynchburg Hillcats are teaming up with Relay for Life of Lynchburg and the American Cancer Society on Friday, May 1st at 6:30pm for the 4th Annual Paint the Park Purple Night and T-Shirt Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans presented by Gastroenterology Associates of Central Virginia!

Gates will open at 5:30pm and general Admission Tickets for the game will be $11 with a portion of every ticket sold benefiting the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life of Lynchburg will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 and is an overnight relay style walk-a-thon that raises money for the American Cancer Society, as well as honors cancer survivors and remembers those lost to cancer. Local participants have been able to sell tickets to Paint the Park Purple Night as a part of their fundraising for their relay team. Fans will also be able to participate in a 50/50 raffle during the game, proceeds of which will also benefit the American Cancer Society.

Approximately 1,596,000 people were diagnosed with some form of cancer in the United States last year and it is estimated that over 41,000 new cancer cases will be reported in 2013 for the state of Virginia alone. The American Cancer Society raises funds worldwide for research programs to find cures for all forms of cancer, and helps those diagnosed to find treatments and support. Team Salvatore Fight Like A Kid Night

Friday, May 1st. Gates open at 6:00pm for the 7:00pm game.

Salvatore is three years old. He loves cars & playing with his friends. He wants to become a firefighter when he grows up. He is a new big brother and loves his little sister very much. Salvatore was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and has been fighting hard to beat the disease.

To help support his family in this difficult time, the Tampa Yankees are donating 100% of the ticket proceeds from the Friday, May 1st home game to Salvatore’s family. There will also be a raffle with Tampa Yankees autographed items on the concourse. Raffle proceeds will also go to Salvatore’s family.

Salvatore’s family & doctor are planning to bring him for that evenings home game to meet the team and throw out the first pitch. The night will have several other surprises for Salvatore and his family.

Reserved tickets are $6 each and General Admission tickets are $4 each and can be purchased online through TicketMaster, tybaseball.com or at the Steinbrenner Field Box Office. Please note that TicketMaster has dropped all additional fees for the May 1st home game if you purchase through them.
